If we would of had no injuries this season where do you think we would be in the league today?

{Ed025's Note - 9th.. ?

Third.

Below 6th as we are blaming the tactics now lol. So players availability have no relevance. Or you could conveniently move the goal post!

Well I think a lot of our problems have been tactical and player form rather than injuries. So I'd say 5th or 6th at best.

Unless it transpires that Fabs and Hendo have been carrying injuries and that's why neither of them has been particularly good.

Probably above Spurs but still outside the top 4. The injuries have definitely hampered us, but it's not as though we've been really been missing anyone in the midfield. Still though, we'd have been looking a lot better.

With all the players that we have lost, I would say 3rd. Despite being so poor this season, with 1 win next game, we would still be 6th and 1 point off Tottenham playing the same number of games. I assume we would have had at least 6-7 points more had all of them stayed injury free.

Can only really judge it if everyone had no injuries. We had Diaz Nunez VVD etc and were still playing poor maybe one place higher who knows. Everyone gets injuries.

Even lower. 16th or sumat.

Oh god are we blaming it on injuries now?.

9.) 23 Jan 2023

We would still be playing with ten men when Salah plays bar the Napoli game that is. So I would say it would have not changed much especially mixed with the midfield problems. We desperately need Dias Firmino Nunez and Jota fit to do anything this season.

Ed25??‍♂️?.
I reckon top 3.

{Ed025's Note - I love your optimism John..

Hey wool what you blaming it on then?

Where to start John mate. The list is massive.
A few basic ones,
Pre season (actually both) were disastrous.
Then you could list all our main outfield players as being off form.
Klopp somehow didn’t see all the issues with underperforming players, so just kept his old tactics.
The established midfield players have lost a yard or 3 and can’t pressure the ball.
Etc.

Soz mark that was directed at anonymous woolback who seems to think injuries haven’t played a part.

Not optimism ed25 just logic ?.

{Ed025's Note - that’s the same logic they used on Apollo 13 John .. ?

Not much better than where we are now to be honest, if at all. We were doing poorly even with VVD, Diaz etc. I genuinely think our biggest miss has been Jota though. People slate him on here and say he’s a bad player etc but he knows where the back of the net is, and even if he is rubbish (which I don’t think he is) he wouldn’t make us any worse than we are right now.

What does it matter? We are where we are. I think it is probably fair to say that there are a number of reasons what we are where we are rather than just one thing, say not signing midfielders, as an example.

We had a massive season last season which took it’s toll both physically and mentally.
We didn’t get our chosen midfielders in the transfer window
We had a very short pre-season
We had a number of injuries in pre-season and the season itself, so far
We have changed tactics due to players not being able to reach the same levels of previous seasons, some players departing and players - reacting to last season - just being out of form
Divesting of some responsibility to try and keep Klopp fresh and motivated.

The list isn’t exhaustive - the above is basically off the top of my head.

The factors haven’t always been constant and it’s been a pick and mix in terms of issues this season. Players being injured might have played a part in our current position but there’s no guarantee that injured players would have hit peak form if they hadn’t been injured ….
