I've just read that Sunderland didn't take up the buy option on Geertruida. Is he worth picking up as similar price to Dumfries?

Carra, wherefore art thou?
27 May 2026 17:38:28
Carra doth skulk behind the couch, whilst the window-cleaner from Formby possesseth the greatest wisdom of all.

So we got outrun in 34/38 league games this season. 5 point away against the top 11 sides so the other top 10 with us in it. So only 1 away win against to top half of the league. Don’t want to know what our goal difference was.
The so called stats people need to look at these statistics because if Slot stays in charge no matter who we sign we won’t get the start we did last season and we will be bottom half relegation fighting and without any true leaders in the team I think is a fight most won’t have the stomach for.
27 May 2026 17:10:55
You see it, I see it, and many other fans see it as well. Keeping Slot will be to the detriment of LFC, and will set us back years. He should have gone after Plymouth spanked us in the FA Cup last season, but the owners decided to give him 400 million quid, only for us to get worse. If he stays, it will be beyond a joke and a travesty.
That said, I think now that the season has ended, we should show a bit of patience and see what the outcome is over the next few weeks.
Everything with regards to what should be happening (Slot and Bill & Ben getting the sack), may very well be underway, and is just a case of waiting for everything to fall into place. All this anxiety over the situation isn't healthy.
Let's see what comes, and if and when he still remains for the new season, then we can deal with it then.

"So we got outrun in 34/38 league games this season."
Mitigating circumstances clearly affected the ability of the players to walk briskly, let alone run.
27 May 2026 17:42:04
We got out walked OliRed. :)
Our matches were like watching a game of Subbuteo at times. At best it was like a game of 70 year olds playing walking football down the local 5 A side park.

Caught a snippet earlier of Ed01 saying how he's not much interested in the World Cup! I probably feel the same way tbh but I'll no doubt catch a few games.
The lack of interest for me started in USA 94 which was an awful WC and the last great WC was Italia 90.
So for me looking back & I have vivid memories of 1970 these are a few of my favourite memories of past World Cups when it was a brilliant occasion added to by commentary by satellite which added to the atmosphere back home!
1970 - Banks save from Pele - younger posters try and watch it! Bobby Moore imperious V Brazil & Peter Bonneti having a mare v W.Germany
74 - Cruyff, enough said & in my top 3 favourite players of all time!
78 - The Argentina games and an atmosphere never bettered & Ally's tartan army going home early with a truly great side
82 - two of the best games I've ever seen - Italy v Brazil & France v W.Germany
86 - Maradona - won the World Cup single handed so to speak & Shilton costing us a WC and
90 - Gasgoine, stand out player on our side by miles and could of been an all time great & Shilton costing us another WC
Skip to 98 & Ronaldo- again an all time great & Owens goal v Argentina!
Since then nothing really stands out for me with host of boring over commercialised World cups!
So from anyone else for a bit of fun what stands out for them
27 May 2026 17:26:34
I was dish washing in an Italian restaurant in 82, praying Brazil beat them, but what a game and what a crack with Gino and Diago.
27 May 2026 18:04:05
The Brazil team of 82 was a great team, best team to never win it.
27 May 2026 16:25:55
I was told Slot is staying because his assistant from Feyenoord is joining! Also, it’s huge summer, which I took to mean if results don’t improve significantly, FSG only have a limited amount of patience, especially if things remain toxic!
27 May 2026 17:13:06
He had all season to improve results and failed. I don't see how giving him another year and a few hundred million quid is going to change that. If FSG don't act now, then our decline is on their heads.
27 May 2026 16:22:40
So many ITK's with different stories and possible outcomes. Never felt so teased and depressed at the same time.
But Ed's - can I ask what you actually think will happen? Do you think Slot stays or goes? If he does leave will it be now or will they risk going into another season?
Thanks!
{Ed001's Note - I have said it a hundred times, there is no point in my keep repeating myself as clearly no one bothers to read what I say anyway. No wonder Ed2 used to get so frustrated!}
27 May 2026 17:07:56
So, Ed1, what do you think will happen, mate? ;).
27 May 2026 16:48:58
I know you said it looks like he's staying Ed.
But that was like 6 hours ago!
Come on,
Something must have changed by now?!
27 May 2026 16:51:22
🤣 Poor Ed, can't imagine the frustration; it is literally the same question being asked 10 times a day. People literally not bothering to read past page 1 before they post.

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Matchday 38 - Quick Round Up
27 May 2026 15:55:46
I honestly don't see Slot getting past the end of September (based on this season's results), unless the board are willing to write off another season by October. The pressure going into next season on Slot and the players will be immense.
Any slight misstep, dropped points, even a draw will be magnified. Historically, we usually play a newly promoted side, Newcastle, one of Arsenal or Utd in the first 6 weeks. We could be out of the title race within 2 months of the season starting.
27 May 2026 16:20:25
Don't think the pressure will be any different to any other season. All teams will have pressure. We as a fanbase, can't be waiting, triggers cocked for the first dropped points. That would make us not fans at all, really wudnt it?
27 May 2026 16:36:58
No, not really. The pressure will be more because most want him gone and will be looking for any reason to slate him, and with good reason. Don't get the "not really fans" comment though. I guess those in Anfield that boo aren't really fans. All those that sit by me mustn't be fans either because they want him gone as well.
Guess to be a top red you must blindly support any old dross and be happy about it. Been through the s**** mate, 30 yrs of it, and the first time we might build on something, we take a step back and regress. Guess you're happy with that though because "we wouldn't be fans at all really, wudnt it".
27 May 2026 16:52:24
Florian, you'd still have Hodgson in charge the amount you back a manager who clearly needs to go.
27 May 2026 16:58:49
You'll know by the middle of pre-season if Slot has addressed the out of possession issues. If not, he may as well not make it to the season opener.
27 May 2026 17:00:01
Correct Meijer. Fans want him gone, and have done for 6/7 months now. If he's not sent packing this summer, there's going to be immense frustration, which will lead to incredible tension come August and overwhelming pressure if things don't go well. Absolutely no doubt about. It will only take a handful of consecutive poor performances for things to get nasty.
Fortunately for Slot, I think some new additions to the squad will buy him time, I can see him making it to the winter, If we bring in 2 effective wingers and a proper DM. Again, individual performances will grant a stay of execution, but it will cast only a thin veil over the turgid football and inept tactics.
27 May 2026 17:15:21
FM, dropping points can be forgiven. All sides drop points. It's just the manner in which we do so, how often it is, how predictable it is and the excuses made in how it could and should have been different, with no apparent changes in mindset, application and seeing the players just not seeming to give a f***.
27 May 2026 17:29:18
Not saying that at all, MaMt. We have to see how the team starts next season. If it's a continuation of this season, fine. But if the team starts well but they draw one after a few games and people start slating purely because of a dislike of Slot, I'm sorry, I will never get that.
27 May 2026 17:30:35
Individual performances will grant a stay of execution. 😆 Sorry, Chew, but that's bullfit.
27 May 2026 17:44:33
That's exactly what happened this season, Florian, a stay that's lasted 7 months so far. Not sure what you're laughing at. Individual quality is what saved Slot, there's been no phenomenal team performances, just great individual moments peppered here and there amongst the dross, and that's a fact.
