Picking up on something Slot said last night regarding transfer business this summer…
He said something about us having to sell before we buy? Our net spend was £150m I think? We sold a lot of players last summer, as a result, our squad is pretty thin now.

With Salah, Robbo & potentially Konate leaving on free transfers, who exactly are we planning on selling to raise transfer funds?

1

15 Apr 2026 20:20:35
Gakpo, Jones, McAllister, maybe Bradley, Cheisa.
Salah's 400k a week should help too.

What Slot said was right. We sell to buy and replace, whereas teams like Arsenal, Chelsea Utd, City strengthen without the need to sell.

0

15 Apr 2026 20:23:08
Gakpo and McAllister would be a good start.

1

15 Apr 2026 20:26:07
Macca, Jones and Gakpo are probably all available. Harvey Elliott still in contract, so we can get a fee there. The outsider, in terms of selling for a fee, maybe Ali. Not sure on Gomez and Endos' contract status, but both will surely be available if anyone would take them.

In the less likely category, Connor and Frimpong could be let go if anyone would pay a decent fee. Depending on next year's coach, we may even let Wirtz go if we could recoup 80% of the fee, and sell without a book loss.

Ornstein reporting we are sticking with Slot next season even if we don't qualify for the UCL.
Please, please tell me this is Bs!!

5

15 Apr 2026 18:29:47
Read the posts below about this. I will always love LFC, but if Slots in charge next season, I will take a break from football until he has moved on.

11

15 Apr 2026 18:45:58
BS of the highest order. They will 'quietly' part ways at the end of the season. Why they're persisting til the season's end is a mystery - perhaps concerned about giving a club/footballing legend a chance to audition for the job.

2

15 Apr 2026 18:52:42
Similar things were said about Rodgers before he was sacked.

If they were 'sticking' with Slot they'd offer him a contract extension.

They're not.

3

15 Apr 2026 18:55:43
Think to yourself, why would Ornstein even write such a non-story?

1

15 Apr 2026 18:57:41
I believe they don't want an Ole/Carrick situation; that's why no interim. They already have a replacement in mind, and don't want the complication of an interim doing well and then having the pressure to either keep them or replace.

0

15 Apr 2026 19:05:29
Iraola.

0

15 Apr 2026 19:09:03
Chewy's right, what did it achieve stating Slot was staying, they could have kept quiet and left it, what difference would it make.

2

15 Apr 2026 19:24:41
Ornstein has been briefed to say that so that Slot can leave with reputation intact and 'on his terms' etc., although behind the scenes we know the real reason - this is just a gentleman's agreement to make it look like he isn't sacked and the club don't make rash decisions etc.

He will be gone at end of the season.

Above just my opinion of course.

2

15 Apr 2026 19:32:51
Jari Iraola's going back to Spain, mate. It's been confirmed he's leaving at the end of the season, and Athletic Bilbao are definitely the strongest candidate for his next destination. We haven't even been mentioned as a possibility in reports.

1

15 Apr 2026 19:36:19
Tell you what. We've got a massive rebuild on our hands in summer, us.

2

15 Apr 2026 20:13:02
The club have to protect their asset and it doesn't serve anyone to undermine the coach by not publicly backing him with crucial games ahead. Back the manager, get to end of the season and then part ways. If the club sack Slot or part ways in summer and bring in Alonso, nobody is going to complain and say why did you say he was safe! Ornstein is a club man and needs to protect his relationship with the club because that's his bread and butter, so take what he says with a pinch of salt.

0

15 Apr 2026 18:07:54
Wouldn’t believe that Ornstein report, bloke is being pushed what to say and put out by the club. That will be the line until it’s mathematically impossible for us to get UCL footy.

Slot will be gone in the summer, and Ren and Stimpy also only have a year left on their deals. Massive summer of change once again for the red men.

Ken.

15 Apr 2026 17:02:44
Ornstein has just reiterated that FSG intend to give Slot next season! Yeah good luck! If this was to happen he would be sacked by October like Rodgers!

2

15 Apr 2026 17:37:12
Why would he be sacked by October? 😁 We don't even know how the summer will go yet. Jesus, relax, he'll be gone by May, but it's hilarious how people just assume it'd be another Rodgers. Just as likely he could win another title. This summer's window is huge, no matter who is in charge.

3

15 Apr 2026 17:42:02
"Just as likely he could win another title."

I mean, it isn't "just" as likely, is it. Let's not be silly now.

10

15 Apr 2026 17:52:12
Win another title, I'm more worried about winning another game.

12

15 Apr 2026 17:54:08
It wouldn't shock me. In my eyes it's more amazing he survived November.

4

15 Apr 2026 17:58:45
This Florian guy, oh my word. Does this bloke just rage bait non stop? Mate, you can follow Slot when we finally get shut of him. He's useless.

3

15 Apr 2026 18:00:41
Giving Slot next season ends in a relegation battle.

5

15 Apr 2026 18:17:46
Why do people continue to latch on to every word that Yawnstein spouts? There's not a hope in hell that Sloth is here next season. If he is, I'll eat my own kecks.

Florian you're on another planet mate

Ed's, any chance we can introduce a dislike button? jk

15 Apr 2026 18:57:50
I was only messing ED, hence why I wrote JK at the end

An Irish thing, BeKind.

0

15 Apr 2026 16:40:51
"All of our information is that FSG, the ownership, the sporting hierarchy at Liverpool - they intend to stick with Arne Slot.

"From the conversations I've had - even if there's no Champions League football - that's the intention."
David Ornstein has said this.

I know we have said not to believe everything journos say, but that statement is pretty much like he is nailed on to be here next season.

3

15 Apr 2026 17:39:26
A mouthpiece for the club. Until he's first to break the Slot getting sacked story, and then he'll be back to being an ultra reliable, always 1st with the news ITK.

2

15 Apr 2026 17:44:56
Everyone needs to chill, they aren't going to say anything different at the moment. Ornstein is being told what the club want him to know at this moment in time.

3

15 Apr 2026 17:53:46
Spot on, Flo. Carry our water and broadcast our message, and when we have actual news we'll seed it to you first.

The contemporary style of journalism is so transactional.

It's not just football either. This kind of access extortion is happening all across our society.

2

15 Apr 2026 20:21:42
The key words there are 'that's the intention'. Plenty of reversing space there for the club in the summer.

0

15 Apr 2026 15:26:13
It seems like Konate has again stalled his contract signing.

7

15 Apr 2026 15:45:08
Good news just keeps coming in.........

Gona be some rebuild this in the summer, Ekitike out, Salah, Robbo and Konate out on frees.

Question mark on the GK, out of interest, did we have a buyback clause on Kellerher?

Already desperate for wide players and a DM type.

With so much change, feel next season will need patience to all for transition.

They might stick with Slot, as that's some job for anyone who would potentially come in.

2

15 Apr 2026 15:52:49
Not sure where you are getting that from, Cafu, but it seems the opposite online with many reporting a 4 year deal agreed bar some minor bits.

1

15 Apr 2026 16:22:39
Is it the same source that doesn't know an ACL from an Achilles?

5

15 Apr 2026 16:41:39
Sounds like the source is into mythology.

1

15 Apr 2026 18:22:54
Cafu, that's 2 rumours now that are the polar opposite of the general consensus, maybe you should try find a new source and consider using the old googlebox there before sharing in future.

0

15 Apr 2026 05:13:16
Not hearing hood news on Ekitike. Wish him a speedy recovery. Word is it's ACL, so tough luck for the player.

6

15 Apr 2026 06:54:59
I read that it was a heel injury so I'm guessing it was his Achilles. But yeah, it isn't looking good, and he is likely to miss out for the rest of the season and the World Cup too.

8

15 Apr 2026 07:03:37
Has he had a scan yet?

2

15 Apr 2026 07:24:20
Well it's definitely not his ACL.

17

15 Apr 2026 08:19:33
That's the problem with these hoodies these days.

5

15 Apr 2026 08:51:10
He can't have had his scan yet.

Hard to tell, but I thought they were assessing the lower leg. So assumed is a ruptured Achilles.

3

15 Apr 2026 08:55:07
Looked like the heel not the knee to me. Likely Achilles or plantar.

5

15 Apr 2026 09:05:49
French media saying it's an Achilles rupture. Facing 9 months out. Doubt he's had a scan yet, but it definitely didn't look good.

3

15 Apr 2026 09:18:39
I know it's very early on, but surely this has to change transfer plans.

Isak isn't the most reliable on the injury front. Surely we will have to think about keeping Chiesa next season.

3

15 Apr 2026 09:20:02
Can I ask where you 'heard' this news? Every report going says his Achilles, and, watching the game, it looked like he was holding his leg where his Achilles is. Sharing that someone has done an ACL when they haven't, and claiming you 'heard it' as though you have some inside knowledge, is just rubbish, to be honest, and a pretty shameful example of someone pretending to be in the know or sharing fake news without bothering to check the facts.

19

15 Apr 2026 09:32:31
According to his family (in reports), Ekitike has (thankfully) not ruptured his Achilles, but the injury is bad enough to rule him out of the rest of the season and the World Cup.

5

15 Apr 2026 10:00:16
Jesus! If it wasn't for bad luck we would have no luck at all.
I don't think Hugo and Isak are not meant to be on the same pitch together.
Looks like another long term injury to Hugo.
And Gomez went off with a twisted sock again.
Oh well, one game a week now, Slot can't moan about tiredness lol.

6

15 Apr 2026 10:24:26
Just wish the lad well.
Whatever the injury, he's not playing for us until August, so let's hope he gets the treatment he needs and is firing for next season.

8

15 Apr 2026 10:56:18
Wouldn't be making me keep Chiesa. Would be a promotion to backup striker for Danns or Wright for me.

7

15 Apr 2026 11:04:27
Will make him a different player. Really bad news and such a shame.

2

15 Apr 2026 11:59:30
ACL standing for Ah Can't Lie, I'm getting sick of these constant injuries.

0

15 Apr 2026 12:43:54
It definitely wasn't his knee, you could see he went down as soon as he planted his foot and was initially holding his ankle by the Achilles, the PSG players were holding his leg up by the knee to keep weight off the foot which you wouldn't do if it was the knee, it was definitely in around the ankle/heel area.

If it's as serious as it looked, and it looked pretty bad, he's out for at least 6 months. Looked like he signalled to the physio that he thought he snapped it.

3

15 Apr 2026 13:16:22
My mistake there, it's not ACL.

1

15 Apr 2026 13:51:02
We needed at least one or two pacey winger/forwards anyway, for me, no reason to keep Chiesa for the team or for him; keeping him helps no one.

2

15 Apr 2026 14:35:07
So we moved from ACL to ruptured Achilles in the French press to not a ruptured Achilles according to 'family', and we need a new CF because Hugo's a write off and he still hasn't had a scan. 😁😁😁

1

14 Apr 2026 23:26:39
According to Bild
Nico Schlotterbeck has a release clause in his new contract that can be activated by 3 clubs, one of which is LFC.

9

15 Apr 2026 00:07:01
As reported a week or two ago on here. Glad we are one of them, but whether the club wants to spend another £50m on him is another thing.

1

15 Apr 2026 00:21:21
If Ibou stays, we don't need him. VVD is fine for another couple of seasons if we can sort the mess around him out. Leoni and Jacquet look promising.

5

15 Apr 2026 06:38:27
VVD is not fine for another couple of seasons. Have you actually been to a game this season and watched him? He is finished and way past his previous excellent levels.
We need a new established centre back. Guehi was a big miss. I like Maxence Lacroix over Schlotterback though. Even Murillo, I would take over Schlotterback.

8

15 Apr 2026 06:57:04
I don't think VVD is done just yet. People said that after his ACL and he came back strong. imo, his problem this season is that his attitude is poor and he is taking things a bit too easy. He needs a manager to fire him up.

7

15 Apr 2026 07:15:38
He has lost pace, and more and more his decisions on the pitch are flawed.
One more season, then a huge thank you for being the best since Hansen.

4

15 Apr 2026 07:36:54
He's done for us, we need new leadership on the pitch, and, when you install a new captain, it's best that the old one leaves. As a centre half, I think he has a couple more seasons in him, and I hope he finds a club where he can pick up a few trophies whilst winding up an extraordinary career. Thanks Virgil, but time to go.

2

15 Apr 2026 08:10:52
Very hard to be a world class center back when you have no midfield in front of you. Maldini would look bang average in this team at the moment. Buy a decent defensive midfielder, and the whole back 4 look a lot better.

16

15 Apr 2026 08:19:43
Hellohello is spot on. Midfield has been exposed for ages. As good as VVD's pace was, he's still got the brain, and with decent defenders around him, he'll be sound. It must be like flogging a dead horse, leading that defensive line, and we'd all be frustrated.

6

15 Apr 2026 09:22:33
Have you seen the pictures of Leoni in recovery? The lad's an absolute unit.

3

15 Apr 2026 10:09:52
Did anyone see Gravenberch put in three tackles? Could not believe my eyes.

0

15 Apr 2026 11:00:18
Is Virg not one of these players that are only below par this season because of the manager no? Or is it only "some" players that handily fall into that bracket? 😆 Man is top class, spends half the time babtsitting his CB partner. Vvd isn't the player of 5 years ago but he is still an elite CB.

6

14 Apr 2026 22:18:02
I’ve heard a rumour, more of a prayer, slots doing the right thing and stepping down at midnight.

7

14 Apr 2026 23:05:51
Why midnight.

5

14 Apr 2026 23:18:13
😂 Why wait for midnight?

He's not stepping down, mate.

25

14 Apr 2026 23:19:45
That's when the blood oath will be finished.

17

14 Apr 2026 23:21:46
Can't see this being true, sadly, I think we just need to accept he's staying. Just worry for Champions League qualification...

5

14 Apr 2026 23:22:54
He's not going to turn into a pumpkin is he?

15

14 Apr 2026 23:30:03
Because he'll turn into a pumpkin otherwise.

4

14 Apr 2026 23:35:18
At midnight he turns into Teen Wolf.

Ken

7

15 Apr 2026 00:37:28
Sorry, fellas, was taking the mick, thought the prayer bit would be a give away. 🤣 I just need him gone.

5

15 Apr 2026 05:52:29
Fantastic rumour!! No logic to wait until midnight unless the club have some sort of sacrificial alter under the Kop.

1

15 Apr 2026 09:59:21
He turns into a Eerewolf in London at Midnight (howlllllllllllllllllll) - Warren Z.
