My agent pal in Budapest has told me the striker loan search is back on again. The club are still looking for a right winger and versatile forward more suited to Iraola (to cover Isak short-term). Midfielder and right back unlikely due to time left in the window.
Ratiu (Vallecano) was available to us (player and fee verbally agreed) but we never pulled the trigger - he's clearly waited long enough and decided to go to Fulham.
We are apparently back talking to Madrid about Endrick on loan. He comes with an entourage and the line the club got last time was the family didn't want to live in England and that was that, so I'm not sure what the strategy is here or why we're so desperate to develop a Madrid player.
I mentioned previously that Monaco wanted Sarr (Spurs) in if Camara were to leave. Sarr is now going to Juve so it may kill the Camara/Enzo transfer chain if they can't source a replacement. If there was more time left in the window I wouldn't have been surprised if City also tried to buy Mac from us instead of Enzo.
The fact we keep going back to these moves like a clingy ex, after being told no, just absolutely stinks of desperation and poor business practice. We have no shame. I am really frustrated and angry how we've become a laughing stock internationally with the way we're flip-flopping between clubs and targets. I'm sorry fellas but I am genuinely wound up at the information I'm being told.
30 Aug 2026 09:27:21
Speaking to some US contacts last week who have done business with FSG in the past. Apparently FSG are more than happy with the LFC investment, and the people who run the business for them in the UK.
Doesn't mean they won't sell out, but suggests they're not in a hurry to change anything about the way Hughes and others run the show even if he moves on.
30 Aug 2026 09:28:49
Monaco are close to a deal for Erik Lira instead of Sarr.
30 Aug 2026 09:55:33
I would rather 'develop a Madrid player' and have a better chance at challenging for major honours than throw 70 million at a Gakpo downgrade.
30 Aug 2026 08:54:35
A rare post from me but this is my pure feeling and observation rather than any ITK info.
With Gakpo likely on the way out, I'd expect a serious late move for Matías Fernández-Pardo. Even if Liverpool try to negotiate Lille's £60m valuation right up to the deadline, he's worth the investment. It might feel like overkill on the left flank when other areas need attention, but his ability to cover both wide and central roles makes him essential for rotating with Isak and Barcola in such a high-intensity system.
30 Aug 2026 09:09:41
I haven't seen enough of him, to be honest. But I'd be worried not getting someone a little more proven to replace Gakpo (who I don't even want to sell in the first place).
Maybe Pardo and Minteh?
I really like the balance and fit Minteh brings.
I get why he is not everyone's cup of tea, but he would work well in this system and with this group of players.
30 Aug 2026 09:15:21
I think Barcola is the replacement for Gakpo. I.e., Barcola confirmed on Saturday morning, Gakpo's exit confirmed more or less on Saturday evening. Coincidence?
If we sign anyone else, it will be a right winger. My money is on the injured Minteh for way too much. But hey, it's not my money.
I personally find the decision not to improve the midfield and full back positions insane.
I know everyone is going on about a 6, but a 6 will not solve the issues in our defence, in particular, terrible full backs, and an ageing captain and goalkeeper. The club seem content to write this season off. Fair enough. It might take a few windows to sort out the Isak / Wirtz mess, and get some better suited LFC style players in.
30 Aug 2026 09:08:10
Close to signing for Newcastle. where did we hear that before
30 Aug 2026 09:36:39
I have a feeling we make a late move for Bowen.
30 Aug 2026 09:49:26
Newcastle looks like a better prospect right now.
30 Aug 2026 10:06:48
@Champs2020, originally I thought Bowen was too much money for a player his age, but if they are spending that much on Sarr, then Bowen would be much better value. Would be hard to get him out of West Ham though.
30 Aug 2026 10:12:18
Or we can allow the head coach to coach the fullbacks, Isak and Wirtz, the midfield, the ageing CB, and get them playing in a way that wins football matches.
If winning was only down to personnel and the transfer window, then anyone could do it.
Time for Iraola to step up.
30 Aug 2026 08:16:45
My friend just messaged me. It seems there was a lot of discussion about Matias Fernandez-Pardo yesterday. Talks are apparently quite developed.
30 Aug 2026 08:34:53
Aw, football friends.
30 Aug 2026 08:55:39
Spooky... I was busy writing a post about that exact player.
30 Aug 2026 08:55:40
Although multifunctional in positions, it is another one who prefers to play from the left and shoots with his right, best foot.
With Gakpo, we would sell one, but with Rio and Barcola we have already two. We need a player with preferred position right wing who can shoot (preferably) with left and right...
30 Aug 2026 08:57:20
Friends. 👍👍
30 Aug 2026 09:21:25
Pardon.
30 Aug 2026 09:27:03
Yes, my friend is a contractor that often goes to both Anfield and Kirkby, so I am confident that any rumours they mention to me are at least coming from circles working in or around the club, even if they still turn out to be rubbish. Unlike most of the well-written AI-supported stories that turn up here as trusted...
30 Aug 2026 09:59:28
Well, Pinkypoo's post made me perky.
Persist with your posts, Pinkypoos.
30 Aug 2026 08:10:01
VG - thanks for your update.
Don't suppose we'll see a miracle and bring in Rayan, Camara and a RB before Tuesday?
30 Aug 2026 08:59:22
Yes.
Tuesday 31st August 2027.
30 Aug 2026 09:03:46
Someone else will come in after Barcola.
30 Aug 2026 09:22:51
Wouldn't it have been easier to negotiate with PSG for Mbaye...
30 Aug 2026 01:24:58
Ed025, surely Everton would not sell a player (Ndiaye) to LFC? Cheers mate
{Ed025's Note - you never know KC, i would doubt it though mate..
30 Aug 2026 07:40:27
Don't call me Shirley.
30 Aug 2026 08:19:24
I picked the wrong transfer window to give up smoking.
{Ed025's Note - i loved "Airplane" Mickey..
30 Aug 2026 09:07:45
I picked the wrong transfer window to stop sniffing glue.
30 Aug 2026 09:34:41
Ed025 I was a kid when that came out, absolutely loved it ditto Police squad and later The Naked Gun.
{Ed025's Note - the ZAZ team were brilliant writers Mickey..
30 Aug 2026 01:34:44
Romano just posted that Maresca pushing for Gakpo. Player has agreed terms but only moves if we bring in a replacement. Deal is set for £85m.
30 Aug 2026 07:25:39
I think it's easy to suddenly want him to stay when he's currently playing better than the other forwards, but he has been average over the years. A good player for sure, but totally replaceable. £85m would be amazing, but I suspect much less... much.
30 Aug 2026 07:47:04
If he is pushing, then let him pay.
85m, compared to some other transfers, seems low for Gakpo...But maybe I'm just being a bit greedy as well.
30 Aug 2026 07:55:40
£85m at the start of the window is fine, £85m with a couple of days left of the window is not. We're more likely to end up with dross than a good player, that's what happens more often than not, be it Balotelli, Arthur, or Kabak, panic signings are almost always awful.
This maladministration is solely down to FSG, who left a man in post who wasn't capable, and clearly took their eye off the ball.
30 Aug 2026 08:04:07
JLC, 85m seems low? Don't forget how frustrating it was when he kept being played as Slot's Dutch mate. We were all screaming to have him sold!
If he went for 85m it would be fantastic all round.
30 Aug 2026 08:12:51
It's fine late in the window if we have other deals imminent.
I suspect we do.
Too many LW, but little cover at CF is the concern if Isak gets a knock.
All feels very messy!!
30 Aug 2026 08:14:46
Still getting stuck despite being one of our best attackers over the last few years, outperformed Diaz and bettered only by one of the best players in the club's history.
We should only sell if we can replace, and my disappointment will depend entirely on who that replacement would be.
If it's Minteh, whilst I'm not a massive fan, it kind of makes sense. Bring in a RW for an area which we are overstocked, far younger, and with a supposedly very high ceiling.
If it's Sarr, though, older and not as good IMO, that would be madness.
30 Aug 2026 08:20:33
Westwood, Minteh would make no sense whatsoever as he won't be available to start until beginning to middle of November due to recovering from injury.
30 Aug 2026 08:54:08
Isn't Munoz our first choice RW? I can't see any reason why we should sell Cody at this point in time. We have no cover at CF, Rio and Kumas as LW and RW cover, and Hugo, who won't play until after Easter and not return to full fitness until 27/28 season.
30 Aug 2026 08:55:03
He is totally replaceable but we can't replace a training cone at the moment. So it's only a good deal if he can actually be replaced. I have zero faith in that discount Pierce Brosnan and FSG to do anything.
30 Aug 2026 09:07:09
VV, you'll
be eating your words about Minteh. He is perfectly
suited to Adonis
game and will
help
to
bring the best out of the team. His work rate and crossing ability
are high level.
30 Aug 2026 09:32:33
Can City come
In
For Alexis too. Maybe they want an Isak
For
150m in case Shrek's hairdo causes him to score less.
30 Aug 2026 10:16:16
VV, I agree it'd be better in Jan and have said elsewhere on here the exact same. I'm only commenting that of the two we are being linked with, I would rather spend the absurd amount of money being talked about on someone far younger and with a higher ceiling than a player older and not as good as what we already have, that's all.
My comment of 'kind of makes sense' is relative to the (IMO) poor standard of our summer activity. I mean at least Minteh plays a position we don't have any players in!
29 Aug 2026 23:45:34
Sunderland in for Fofana.
30 Aug 2026 02:19:03
I don't think we can sign all of the left wingers.
30 Aug 2026 02:20:21
You are on the wrong page - this is the Liverpool site.
30 Aug 2026 08:54:12
We had interest in the past, so Liverpool related.
30 Aug 2026 09:31:44
If we were living in the past, maybe.
29 Aug 2026 22:49:11
My goodness, our club seems to be in turmoil behind the scenes. Pure utter chaos. Has AI any say on transfers either incoming or outgoing? I wonder. Is Barcola an AI decision? I hesitate to ask even. He's not the player we need right now and won't solve our glaring obvious issues in cm and fb positions. Barcola is very very erratic at best. He could even deepen the crisis mode we are in right now. We need a cm holder. Endo, Grav, Macca not up to it or trusted to do it...
Scott or Wharton are obvious solutions. We need two new full backs. Kostos, Kerkez, Frimpong and Bradley nowhere near good enough. Solve our fb crisis, and possibly probably solve our team problems too. Honestly don't know what new fbs are gettable now we're at end of window and teams are settled with new players and squads but we must sign replacements in these areas if we have any chance to compete this season. Already it looks over. Interesting two days ahead.
29 Aug 2026 23:27:21
Guard, take the lads belt and shoes laces off him. 🥺
29 Aug 2026 23:54:20
Scott and Wharton solve nothing. No physicality, neither particularly good defensively (Wharton in particular is horrendous).
29 Aug 2026 23:58:21
Barcola is exactly what we need. Pace running in behind and qualify on the ball. You are right about the full backs. Do what we can to get Trent back. He will make everyone else around him look better. Since he and Robbo left, the crossing from wide forward areas is abysmal. The people who criticised Trent, and probably influenced his decision to leave, must now accept they didn't realise how good he was. Even his much criticised defensive work doesn't look so bad now, after the s*** show at the back we have suffered for over 12 months since he left.
30 Aug 2026 00:04:41
We definitely need a LW upgrade on Gakpo but it shouldn't be at the expense of the other 5 or 6 positions.
30 Aug 2026 00:08:06
We've played 2 out of 38 games and it's "all over"? "Turmoil", "Pure utter chaos". Really? Putting aside the fact that the transfer window is still open and that we have brought in 4 players who are all capable of being in our starting 11, I'm not sure what the evidence is for your (and others) slightly hysterical reaction.
We all know that the squad can be improved but you can't say that for any team an6 sau of the year.
We are looking for somebody on the right and, seemingly a midfielder. If we bring someone in, then we can expect them to improve the squad. If we don't find players of the quality we want, then we are all going to have to keep going with the Valium until January.
30 Aug 2026 00:08:45
We do need them things but Barcola is a good signing. We are the slowest team in the league. He will go some way to changing that.
30 Aug 2026 00:12:19
Bradley is, when fit, that's his issue only. Always looked good when he plays. I think Kerkez will become better, especially because this is the manager who got the best out of him. 2 games in and people losing their minds. He needs a little patience after the abysmal performance last season, come on.
{Ed666's Note - Did Bradley really always look good mate?
30 Aug 2026 00:28:32
Utter meltdown moment from poor old Kev.
I've seen enough to show we'll get better and better. A load of positives after the first two games.
Are we gonna win the league? No.
Will we be a lot better in 5 games time? 100%.
Wirtz, Isak, Munoz, Barcola will all be superb soon.
Jacquet looks mustard.
Mac Allister looks better already. Him as a deep lying playmaker will help us tick.
When Bradley comes back, we'll be a lot more solid.
Kerkez is still getting up to speed. Seems to take a while to realise a season has started.
Wirtz will become the player we know he is.
Trust the process, please. It takes patience, but by the second half of the season, we'll see the benefits in the CL and any domestic cups we are still in.
30 Aug 2026 00:54:02
What process is that, Skezza? Decimating the squad, not addressing any of the deficiencies during the window? Suddenly deciding to make moves in a desperate panic at the end of the window with no apparent plan? Trust that process? This is incompetence at best and negligence at worst.
As for the squad, still weak and soft in midfield, weak at fullback, now seemingly wanting to sell a starting forward to replace them with a soon to be washed up mid table player who was on his way to Turkey to see his career out.
We've been lucky twice so far, but luck doesn't last and we will be getting turned over as soon as we play anyone with any real quality and every team knows how to play against us.
They all know how weak, soft & porous midfield.
At this moment in time we don't look good enough to finish in mid table, let alone a cup run, and forget about the Champions League, no way this shower of s**** is winning that. No quality in the middle of the park and weak in defence.
Another season written off, this one can be firmly pinned on FSG for allowing this to turn into a clown slow.
30 Aug 2026 00:28:34
Kemlyn Toad " The people who criticised Trent, and probably influenced his decision to leave, must now accept they didn't realise how good he was". The stupidest thing I've ever read. He was taking Spanish lessons two years prior to his exit. Utter turd you're spouting.
30 Aug 2026 02:29:39
Putting aside injuries, our squad is:
GK: Ali, Marma, Woodman
RB: Bradley, Frimpong
LB: Kerkez, Tsimi
CB: VVD, Leoni, Jacquet, Araujo (with Ndukwe to come)
Cover: Gomez, Chambers
Mids: Grav, Szoboszlai, Macca, Nyoni, Endo, Wirtz
Att: Isak, Eki, Munoz, Rio, Gakpo, Barcola
with potentially a couple more players to come in.
It isn't a bad squad, and we now have a coach worth the name.
Get a grip.
30 Aug 2026 05:56:23
Scott and Wharton would help the situation, because it's that bad. Wharton is solid defensively. He looks to intercept and press to win back possession. In an organised press he'd do well.
Scott scores highly in possession won and tackles committed, covering plenty of distance for recovery runs. Highly mobile and most of all Willing to track back.
Neither are the defensive monster most of us want. However, they're both an improvement on what we'd currently see at Liverpool, and both would probably suit the pivot more than our current options.
Wharton offers that vision and passing from deep we miss, while Scott's incredibly mobile and covers more ground.
Both good options and both home grown.
30 Aug 2026 06:40:28
We don't need Scott. We have enough box to box players who always want to be ahead of the ball and aren't passers.
Wharton is somebody we could really use, because he is probably the best progressive passer in the league and he doesn't want to run ahead of the ball to receive after passing it. He will pass and sit. We need players who can sit and offer us some kind of security.
Even if Wharton is the opposite of athletic or mobile, he is at least a player who won't roam deep into the opposition half. He also can spray the ball to Munoz, Barcola, Wirtz and Isak early. It's the best possible signing we could make at this stage, besides a right winger, but Palace won't want to sell so it's not worth talking about.
30 Aug 2026 07:05:53
Corr Vik, wouldn't want to see you on a bad day, mate.
Try and take your eyes off FSG for five minutes and think about the manager, maybe... just maybe he is capable of actually coaching a midfield of proven Premier League winners to play some decent football again?
Throw in a 120m player to that midfield who Klopp rates as one of the best in the world.
Iraola has constantly said he just wants the window over so he knows which players he can mould into winners again, and finally get them fit enough to run for 90 minutes after Slot had coached that out of them.
Washed up? The same guy that terrorised us every time he played against us? A right winger we actually need right now in his prime?
I'd honestly rather have him than an unproven 18/19 y/old who hasn't played in the Premier League before, yet another player we need to give a season to before they may or may not get used to the league and the culture.
PSG looked poor and barely qualified for the CL 2 years ago and look how strongly they finished.
Window isn't over yet...
But sure, get in a tizzy and have a little meltdown because we're not signing the latest shiny new toy every 5 minutes.
30 Aug 2026 08:08:24
Guys, it's all very frustrating and we all want to be doing better. Just remember one thing to keep you sane and smiling, at least we aren't Spurs.
30 Aug 2026 08:17:10
I was at the match yesterday. It's clear to see where the problem lies.
This is the 4th season since Fabinho left and we still haven't replaced him. An enforcer type CDM helps fill gaps when you have marauding wing backs. We haven't got that. We're asking a 35 year old & rookie CB to deal with every counter attack. The only reason we've got away with this for so long is because Ali saves our blushes quite a lot during games that we're actually taking it for granted. He shouldn't be having to deal with as many 1v1s as he does.
Frimpong possesses the attributes of Vidic & Beckham... He crosses like Vidic & defends like Beckham!!!!!!
The team is way too nice. We desperately need steel in that area of midfield.
If you want to play 4231 then your 2 sitting midfielders shouldn't be pushing up as high as they are, they should be looking to get the balls out to the wingers from a deeper position.
The problem currently is trying to get Wirtz into the side... If we're committed to getting the best out of him then we need a different profile of midfielders behind him.
If we're not going to address this, then we'd be better off benching Wirtz, playing more of a 433 with Grav sitting behind Macca & Szobo, who are deployed as 8s.
The recruitment team have seriously let FSG down. Owners have shown financial commitment and the "experts" have gone all Football Manager scatter gun approach to it.
Bad news for FSG... We probably need another 200m thrown at this to sort.
There'll be no CL money next season boys. I'm not scare mongering or spitting the dummy, my eyes don't lie.
30 Aug 2026 08:36:29
Skezza, you can't polish a turd. This group of midfielders aren't capable of playing a double pivot as none of them are defensively capable, none of them are disciplined and all of them are soft as rubbish. And you can't coach a group of attacking midfielders to be suddenly become defensively capable. Carry on living in your delusions though if it helps you cope.
Going into the last two days of the window with so much needed to do and in desperation leads to dross like Balotelli, Carroll, Arthur, Kabak etc that's the "quality" you end up with. As for Sarr, if he was as elite as you seem to think he is, he'd have had better suitors than the likes of Galatasaray, and signing someone just because they had a good game against us is about the most stupid logic there is, particularly when then player is turning 29 and washed up. Nothing to do with shiny new toys. But all to do with absolute incompetence from the top of the club who had no plans and left a man in charge who was plainly out of his depth and given he knew he was leaving, should not have been allowed to have any part of the long term planning going forward.
As for Wharton, I'm assuming you've not seen how he played against Everton or City, Patrick? He was absolutely shocking defensively. Weak, soft, slow to react, not tracking runners or closing off lines. Everything we already have, but with a £100m price tag, take the occasional Hollywood pass out and he's a nothing footballer who wouldn't be in the conversation if he wasn't English.
30 Aug 2026 09:04:17
Wharton was more of a Slot type buy, apparently Iraola isn't interested in him.
30 Aug 2026 10:03:52
Always with the drama, you, Vik!
29 Aug 2026 22:37:32
Hi all,
Liverpool have revisited the Sarr deal this afternoon. The anticipation is that another bid in the region of 70 million euro could be placed.
Ilman Ndiaye is also of interest. Very fluid situation at the moment.
29 Aug 2026 23:02:52
This club keeps disappointing me.
29 Aug 2026 23:03:51
Hi VG, please tell me there is some news on a CDM? Is it true we are not going for one?
29 Aug 2026 23:03:59
I am so done with this season, and we are two games in...
JFC
29 Aug 2026 23:06:02
I actually quite like Sarr, but the money really not making sense with our usual model given his age.
Seems a bit of a reaction, would rather keep Gakpo even though I'd imagine the wages are a big factor in the decision.
The fact Sarr struggled at a bigger club worries me, however, I still think he'd be effective but at 70mil I think we've got a bit nuts.
29 Aug 2026 23:06:31
Cheers VG.
Sarr for circa 60m might be the worst business we've done in recent times.
29 Aug 2026 23:07:17
It makes a change as we've been anything but fluid until now.
29 Aug 2026 23:08:59
From bad to worse for us right now.
29 Aug 2026 23:10:31
70 million to downgrade on an older player than Gakpo, is such a Richard Hughes signing. Appalling from all involved if it happens.
29 Aug 2026 23:11:34
Anything on Gavi VG?
29 Aug 2026 23:12:40
Thanks, VG. Just glad only 72 hours more of this farce have to be endured!
29 Aug 2026 23:14:07
Cheers, Victor.
Iliman Ndiaye is a significantly better player than Sarr. He's younger, and he improves our side instantly. I cannot understand why the club is so fixated on Sarr.
To me, and it's just my opinion, us splashing around 70 million on an average 28/29 year old makes zero sense.
{Ed666's Note - I would love Ndiaye but would Everton sell to us? At least he wouldn’t have to move house.
29 Aug 2026 23:15:53
Neither of these are better than Gakpo. Even a rw Gakpo. He may have been a little off it last year but played almost every game when the whole team was poor.
{Ed666's Note - Ndiaye not better than Gakpo? Statistically probably not but I know which one I’d rather have mate.
29 Aug 2026 23:17:37
Thanks, Victor. Hard to keep up at this stage.
29 Aug 2026 23:21:05
Cheers Vic.
29 Aug 2026 23:21:09
Who do you think we'll end up with? A suprise name? Would Everton even sell to us?
They've left it that late. Other teams would need a replacement too. Sarr, at his age, is not worth the money, neither is Minteh worth 80m.
The clubs will know we have money, and likely make us spend closer to 70/80. Massively overpriced players.
Especially with injuries involved, seems like a silly movie.
Has my issues with Gakpo last year, but it wasn't just him, loads were poor. He's come back, started well under new manager. Seems a silly move to strengthen City.
Do you think we'll get a midfielder too? It's getting late now, if eek well just panic but and waste money in a terrible winger.
29 Aug 2026 23:22:41
Let's replace good players with past their peak mediocre players.
Sounds like a plan.
29 Aug 2026 23:23:20
Thanks, VG.
Seems crazy money for FSG to sign off given he's about to turn 29.
It's a real scattergun approach from Hughes, injured players, older players & then he will be off to Saudi with no accountability!
What a clown show!
29 Aug 2026 23:43:26
Sarr. What a joke.
29 Aug 2026 23:55:16
Bottom of the barrel, meet the scraper.
29 Aug 2026 23:56:43
I think Sarr is a smokescreen. Or at least hope so.
29 Aug 2026 23:59:45
Not necessarily a CDM, a midfielder who controls the game, and gets stuck in, even doing the simple things. Henderson would still do a boss job in that midfield, and that's my point, as you can have the runners around you, yet still dictate the game. It's easier said than done, yet simple at the same time.
30 Aug 2026 00:01:56
Alonso 1786,
Ndiye is a good player, but he hasn't got pace. That is all important in today's game. It is also the way Iraola wants to play.

What a joke of a club. Richard Hughes has ripped up and destroyed a title winning team in the span of 2 years. None of our transfers look to be following a collective plan - rather, they are random signings all over the place.
Sarr to replace Gakpo and Salah on the right is woeful. He's not a winger, his creativity bag is nonexistent, he can't cross the ball and he's 28.

I have no idea who we will end up with. It appears, through Chinese whispers, that LFC are doing a fine job at throwing journos off the scent.
Gavi will not happen. Liverpool like Gavi, but so do most top European clubs, and Barcelona would only entertain a sale this late in the window if the numbers were astronomical.
Regarding a CDM, Camara was offered to us and we have been in talks with his agent/Monaco, but I think he could be Chelsea bound. The last 72 hours of the market is gonna be very, very exciting. And scary.

If we don't bring in a DM this window, it will be a complete dereliction of duty!!
We need the link up, the cover for Van Dijk, the aggressive break up, the common sense!!!

A Sarr to be 29 in 6 months at 70m bucks makes me wanna spew. Must be alternatives, please.

For what we need right now, Sarr is a better fit than Ndiaye. We need a right winger who can run in behind, is physical and quick, and can press, not necessarily a dribbly right winger who wants the ball to feet like Ndiaye. That right winger should also ideally be able to play center forward, which Sarr is very much capable of.
I'm not at all convinced by Sarr as a footballer, in terms of technical skillset, he is pretty much the opposite of Ndiaye, and I would say he is inferior as a footballer, but in terms of profile, he looks to be able to fill a hole in the squad that we need right now.

Wharton is more
tackle shy than our existing mids.

If I had a choice between Sarr and Gakpo I'd keep Gakpo.

Let's see where we are when the window shuts.
Other than Minteh and Sarr, the only other link is Pardo, of the three, Pardo fits the usual profile best.
The most likely explanation for Sarr is versatility, particularly given Gakpo is going.

Gakpo for Marmoush and one other player from them, I rather we keep Gakpo. This transfer window is like the window from the previous owners George Hicks and Gillet ?? Absolutely shocking, but if Barcola can turn into a Suarez signing and just become a superstar then great.
30 Aug 2026 09:17:27
With Barcola coming in, Gakpo won't be a starter. Makes sense if you can get decent money in for Gakpo and then use it on a player that can cover RW/ST.
I'm sick of hearing fans moan about players not being good enough who we then sell/let go and pine for their return.
Trent = couldn't defend.
Nunez = always offside and couldn't hit the target.
Diaz = Run down blind alleyways.
Gakpo = Cuts inside/Predictable.
Morton = Championship player.
Kelleher = good backup.
Fans have such short memories.
I could go on and on.

@Ron,
Who's the older - Jacquet or Konate? Munoz or Salah, Barcola or Gakpo? They are players we've actually signed rather than players who may or may not sign. Your assertion is factually incorrect.
