Looks like Wilson to Fulham for 10 million is close. Good luck to the boy, hope he has a great career.

Champs2020

1.) 23 Jul 2021 20:18:45
I really hope we put a buy back for Harry Wilson, really think he could be very good.

{Ed025's Note - really???, he was harder to get rid of than shingles mate.. :)

2.) 23 Jul 2021 21:09:58
Just put in the sell-on clause, and wish him good luck for God's sakes.

3.) 23 Jul 2021 21:10:27
Love it 25 🤣.

{Ed025's Note - cheers jay..

4.) 23 Jul 2021 21:41:27
£10m for getting shingles, I would definitely consider it.

{Ed025's Note - you have never had shingles then mark..

5.) 23 Jul 2021 21:41:52
If only ye could bring on a sub just to take freekicks like in American football. not near good enough but i'll give him one thing that's a sweet left foot.

{Ed025's Note - wouldn,t it be great if there was a scrapyard of bits of footballers that you could use to make up a player JH?, i would have beckhams hair, duncan fergusons forehead and jan molby,s brain, matt le tissiers left leg, the right of pele and the abs of ronaldo.....and if he was a footballer...a piece of mandingo.. :)

6.) 23 Jul 2021 21:53:19
perfect response ed.

{Ed025's Note - cheers stone..

7.) 23 Jul 2021 22:15:29
Ah u know what i mean ed! 😆. its like if Pickford didn't have t-rex arms he'd b a good goalie😉.

{Ed025's Note - hes not that bad actually JH, i have been his biggest critic but over the past year he has really improved mate...or grown up should i say..

8.) 23 Jul 2021 22:46:40
His arms havnt😆.

9.) 23 Jul 2021 23:58:36
Killed me Jadon 🤣.

10.) 23 Jul 2021 23:07:14
Get them blue tinted glasses of his awful Ed first your telling us your left backs better than Robbo now your trying to tell us Pickford a good keeper f*** sake Ed give us half a pint of what your drinking I would have asked for a pint but I have to drive the car meek week. Lol.

{Ed025's Note - no grino the lad has improved, im not saying hes a world beater or anything but hes in the top 5 of the EPL for sure..

11.) 23 Jul 2021 23:35:32
Hey Ed - isn’t the scrapyard for bits of footballers called Goodson?

Sorry to hard to resist 😉😉.

{Ed025's Note - i like that WDW .. :)

12.) 24 Jul 2021 08:28:24
Each to there own Ed025 nowhere near my not 5 don’t think his even England’s best keeper that Pope.

{Ed025's Note - hes improved grino, still has the odd brain fart mate but has really got his act together for me mate..

13.) 24 Jul 2021 08:35:34
Wilson was NOT hard to get rid of Ed25. As Ed002 pointed out in multiple posts over the years WE priced him out of a transfer!

{Ed025's Note - thats true reynard, his actual value was about 27p but of course you wanted more.. :)

14.) 24 Jul 2021 09:58:59
Top 5 worst goalkeepers yeah. The blue on those tinted specs really have frosted over.

15.) 24 Jul 2021 10:00:35
I don't think it's too much to ask for 28p but I wouldn't have gone for 30p, Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - it was a tough call reynard mate..

16.) 24 Jul 2021 10:32:20
i got that wrong 23 only Arrizabalaga worse lol.

17.) 24 Jul 2021 12:19:43
Paul Joyce just confirming that he's left camp to complete his £12m move to Fulham.

18.) 24 Jul 2021 12:22:25
Me too, shame it hasn’t worked out for him here. I also think they’ve got a steal with a young British lad who’s proven.

19.) 24 Jul 2021 14:06:29
He is a Championship player.

20.) 24 Jul 2021 21:33:35
I agree with Ed25 about Pickford being top 5 in the EPL but it’s more to do with a lack of talent in the league currently rather Pickford being a great keeper.

21.) 25 Jul 2021 14:24:47
Harder to get rid of than shingles 🤣🤣🤣
And tbf Ed, Pickford had a decent end to the season and a great Euros. Never be a top, top keeper but eradicated a lot of the constant silly mistakes he was making week in week out and looks a lot more solid for it.

{Ed025's Note - he has grown up bill...finally, im not saying hes a world beater mate but hes a decent keeper imo..

18 Jan 2021 21:01:43
Would people be happy he Liverpool were to look at buying Dele Ali for 45 millon? Or do we think his game has completely gone?

Champs2020

{Ed025's Note - i think you will have higher priorities to be honest champs..

1.) 18 Jan 2021 21:10:50
I'd maybe swap ox or perhaps I'm even being to hard on him but c'mon 45m.

2.) 18 Jan 2021 21:24:05
Maybe £4.5 million.

3.) 18 Jan 2021 21:25:36
Not a chance never no chance no thanks not at lfc.

4.) 18 Jan 2021 23:29:35
No. Not at all what we need. Too lazy and not all that good.

5.) 19 Jan 2021 08:40:29
He made his choice when he left MK.

6.) 19 Jan 2021 10:05:27
Another player with the wrong manager, yes id take him all day, not at that price though, would prefer Barnes, Podence or Saka, Maureen didn't exactly handle De Bruyne, Lukaku or Salah well, some players could be the greatest player going but if a manager doesn't fancy them then that's that.

7.) 19 Jan 2021 13:20:25
Silvered - we didn't come for him when he left mk. He wanted to come to us but he didn't go for it.

I'd take him on a loan with an option to buy. He's played so little I'd treat it like buying a player off the back of a bad injury - if he can get himself back to best then he's a much better creative option than ox or Shaq and has the benefit of being homegrown. Although cb I imagine will be this seasons priority.

{Ed025's Note - it wasn,t that he didn,t go for it hjikle, the dons put the price up from £4.5m to £5.5m because it was liverpool so the reds declined the offer mate..

8.) 19 Jan 2021 13:58:45
Alli has had one good season in his career and has fined off of that since. I don’t see anywhere that he gets in to our side. He’s not blessed with pace, passing range isn’t particularly great, he’s not an obvious goal threat and hard work are not words you’d associate with him. I’d rather some other idiot wasted £40m on him. About as effective as Jessie Lingard in my opinion, and you’d not waste money on that either.

9.) 19 Jan 2021 15:46:55
I will 100%. He will suit our system and can be a good and cheap replacement for bobby.

10.) 19 Jan 2021 15:46:55
I will 100%. He will suit our system and can be a good and cheap replacement for bobby.

11.) 19 Jan 2021 17:37:44
Seriously lost his way the lad. Could be a possibility if he could get back to where he was but I'm edging towards the no thanks.
I'd of paid mk dons the extra 500,000 or 1m back then in a heart beat though.100%.

12.) 19 Jan 2021 20:15:02
Would take him all day long Liverpool supporter and would love to prove Maureen wrong problem would be the price.

13.) 19 Jan 2021 21:04:53
He also would want ridiculous wages. Plus I can't for the life of me work out why people think he is a "klopp player". From all accounts he is not a hard trainer and he certainly doesn't seem to work hard on the field. I suspect all the reasons why Mourinho has issues with him would be the same for Klopp.

14.) 20 Jan 2021 12:08:17
If you’re talking a replacement for Firmino, I’d rather we break the bank for Son. He’s a proper footballer, Alli is a big time Charlie who is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

{Ed0666's Note - where on earth are we gonna get the money for Son? Didn’t realize Musk and Bezos had bought us overnight?

15.) 20 Jan 2021 19:18:47
I lived in MK for years and he was well known in the local area. Played in the same team as some of his good mates. The rumour is Spurs chucked in a rather nice auto mobile as a golden handshake to convince him to sign, which he gladly accepted.

16.) 20 Jan 2021 21:45:48
I agree with 6times. Id love to see Son in our team but we'd never be able to afford him.

17.) 22 Jan 2021 02:53:06
Really? No chance. He was so good for that one season that people even ignored how dirty a player he is. Since then he's just a waste of oxygen. Absolute sook.

16 Jan 2021 10:40:56
Morning Ed's hope you are all keeping well during this C.V.? I was thinking about the summer transfer window and the issue of HG that we may have. It looks likely that Salah may go along with Gini, Shaq and Origi. There are rumours of Ben White coming in who seems a decent player. Has Liverpool thought about bringing in Declan Rice? I know he'd be expensive but he is such a multi facet player I think he might be better value for money. If VVD, Gomez and Matip are all fit then I'm not sure White plays in front of them but with Rice he could play in midfield. If two of the above get injured you could move Rice back into centre half. We would then have two midfielders who can comfortably play centre back if required. Milner also probably doesn't have too many years left so a homegrown player to replace him as well?

Champs2020

{Ed002's Note - Declan Rice would be a Fabinho replacement and Liverpool has never shown any interest in him Champs. Squad management has been poor at Liverpool in recent years and the club needs to address the Home Grown issue and, particularly the Club Developed issue which are currently forcing the club to play in the Champions League without a full sized squad. The FA would like to change the quotas in the league as I have explained and more and more clubs will start to agree with them. The issue arises pretty much annually.}

1.) 16 Jan 2021 15:26:15
Thanks Ed👍.

I have a feeling that Liverpool aren’t finished with forward players this summer. If you think Origi, Mane, Taki and Ox are likely to leave with Salah next summer I wouldn’t be surprised to see a right sided player join.
My money is on Bowen once we have sold a bunch of players.

Champs2020

1.) 12 Jun 2022 18:32:40
OP, Bowen will cost nearly as much as the Nunes reported fe without add-ons cos WH don’t need to sell, IMO. As for whether we will sign another forward, that’s a possibility but we shall see even tho, we need a midfielder to come in now, more than another forward, IMO.

2.) 12 Jun 2022 18:51:01
I think Carvalho and Darwin are replacements for Mane, Taki, Origi.

Maybe we'll see some of the young lads step up for cup games etc, it'd be nice to see some of the likes of Gordon, Clark, Cannonier get around the squad more.

Another DM makes sense but I think that'll only happen once the likes of Ox, Phillips, Williams start getting moves too.

3.) 12 Jun 2022 19:11:29
if we do any more business in my opinion it should be for a midfielder to cover for Fabinho. I like the idea of selling Matip and keeping Phillips as well. I really wish we'd sell Keita but looks like we are working on an extension. I don't understand it. My dream would be to sell and go after Declan Rice, but I'm sure that won't happen. We can always dream though.

4.) 12 Jun 2022 19:24:49
We won’t be signing any more forwards this summer.

5.) 12 Jun 2022 19:47:26
I agree a midfielder would be nice. I just think Harvey and Jones will get more minutes next season and when Milner finishes we may go for a midfield replacement then. I may be wrong just a gut feeling about Bowen. I don’t think he costs Nunez type money either.

6.) 12 Jun 2022 21:32:14
@1)), some people were saying we wouldn’t sign any forwards at th start f last week ?

Like a number of people on the board I’ve been saying that we need cover for Fabs for a while. We have people who can cover for a short period of time if he’s injured and Morton might be the best bet at an internal long term solution but f Fabs is injured for any length of time we are exposed. I think we will (at least try) to sign a primarily defensive DM this window.

Also like the idea of loaning out Nat for a season and then promoting him as replacement for Matip going forward. Never did anything wrong when given a chance in 20-21 and he has a bit of ‘old school’ defender about him which is rare these days.

7.) 12 Jun 2022 21:32:14

8.) 12 Jun 2022 22:28:03
seriously, we should sell Matip. not that he's a bad player but we could get a great return and really not lose much with Phillips as 4th choice. what am I missing here?

9.) 12 Jun 2022 22:47:00
Matip is miles better than Phillips.

10.) 12 Jun 2022 23:14:03
Why weaken the squad?

11.) 12 Jun 2022 23:18:00
I am a massive fan of Nat Phillips and I was looking for him to stay as 4th choice and us to sell Matip last summer as Matip was missing so much with injuries.

You have to take the season since into account though. Matip has been fantastic and he has been fit for nearly the whole season.

Thanks for filling in a year ago Nat and wishing him the best where he can go start for another premier league club but now that Matip is staying fit is hardly the time to be selling him.

12.) 13 Jun 2022 02:45:22
Mane, Origi, Taki out - nunez, Diaz, carvalho in plus maybe Gordon us more cup appearances? Think we’re well stocke up front.

13.) 13 Jun 2022 09:02:53
@Rigsby, Matip is 31 next season, Nat will be 26. The idea would be that our 4 centre backs for 23-24 would be VVD, Ibou, a fit Joe G and Nat. Loaning Nat out for 22-23 instead of selling him gives us that option.

14.) 13 Jun 2022 11:29:03
Matip is a decent player, but he is no way shape or form ''miles'' better than Philipps. In my opinion he is the worst CB from the 4 we currently have. Plus Philipps could easily become a top defender playing with Van Dijk. He is young enough and is actually a very good defender. He doesn't have the best technical abilities but he is a no nonsense defender who does his job very well. Some forget that he was partnered by Henderson or Rhys williams who are both terrible CB's.

15.) 13 Jun 2022 11:47:01
He is miles better than Nat Phillips though, Phillips is getting very overrated on here because people like the lad, he’s a good player but there’s a reason why one starts for Liverpool and the other was out on loan in the championship.

16.) 13 Jun 2022 12:22:59
He will be playing in the Premier league soon and probably week in week out so I guess we'll see.

17.) 13 Jun 2022 12:42:49
I know Matip is older than Phillips, WDW. I said he's miles better than Phillips because he is.
Van Dijk is also older than Phillips should we 'cash in' on him? We'd get more for him than we would Matip.

I'm a fan of a lot of non Liverpool players and Liverpool players that don't start but I don't see the point of trying to squeeze them into the squad at the expense of other players.
Saying that, de Bruyne and Rice would be nice if we could see Keita and Ox.
It's also pointless thinking about it.

18.) 13 Jun 2022 13:21:37
I think that Matip looks better on the ball than Phillips but I honestly think think Phillips is the better defender - and miles better than Matip in the air.

Matip has reached his peak and, whilst he was mostly injury free last season he can be a bit of a liability in that area.

Phillips is still improving and if he is loaned back to Bournemouth next season, it will be a good test for hi. In the PL (let’s face it he’ll have a bit of defending to do at Bournemouth) .

19.) 14 Jun 2022 19:23:51
Sailor Jerry - I guess we should let Harvey Elliot leave and just let Carvalho rot in the reserves as well then.

15 Aug 2021 10:22:06
Hey Ed’s hope you are all well. Buzzing after yesterday’s game, was so great to see the fans back in the stadium. Quick question, do you guys see a possibility that we organise one or two more friendlies to get the likes of Thiago, Henderson and Fabinho up to speed, with the Chelsea game not far away. It’s difficult to see where they get enough minutes prior to them to be in contention. Thanks in advance.

Champs2020

{Ed001's Note - no, the season has started, who would we play against?}

1.) 15 Aug 2021 10:36:37
I am sure Fabs will start v Burnley. Hendo should get 30 mins as well. Jones will be fit for Burnley but it appears that he has fallen down the pecking order.

2.) 15 Aug 2021 10:56:22
Mark why do you think he's fallen down the pecking order? Think he has some injury problems hence we haven't seen him much.

3.) 15 Aug 2021 10:58:03
I’m sure that Henderson will be ok for Chelsea. I imagine he’ll get some minutes against Burnley. It’s not like the bloke is coming bad from long term injury, he’s just had time off after the Euros so I’d imagine he’s been able to maintain his fitness levels. Fabinho should be fit and if’s either Thiago or Curtis for the other spot against Chelsea as Curtis should be fit.

4.) 15 Aug 2021 11:00:10
Burnley are likely to sit back and defend. I would go with a midfield of Fab sitting back and Jones and Elliot providing that additional attacking threat. Ox and Naby did nothing on Saturday. Milner, don’t think is needed for this type of game. Then on the 60th minutes, hopefully with all going well bring on Thiago and Hendo for 30 minutes for Jones and Elliot. Just my opinion anyways.

5.) 15 Aug 2021 11:24:27
Kopforever, just my feeling mate. I could be way off. It started last season he kept Jones on the bench and would not bring him on for Milner even for 20 mins. Then Milner did his hamstring. In the preseason games he was fit but didn’t get anywhere near as many minutes as Elliot and some of the others. When Hendo and Thiago come back I don’t think Jones will make the bench.

I think we might play the front 4 on Saturday with Fabs and Milner in midfield. I can’t see any way Elliot or Jones start. Just my opinion.

6.) 15 Aug 2021 11:30:42
Jones and Elliot? What planet are you on? Elliot needs time to integrate and is Jones suddenly De Bruyne now? He can’t score and plays side to side.

{Ed001's Note - don't talk crap. Give it a rest and do us all a favour, you clearly have not got a single solitary clue about Jones.}

7.) 15 Aug 2021 11:32:03
OP, no team is going to play against us and they would find that to be a very weird proposition anyway.

Alsonso1786, think that was a bit harsh. The midfield three may not have been great and frankly, they are the second choice trio who started the game BUT to say they did nothing is a bit OTT. I thought they were decent overall and pressed well and won the ball back higher up the pitch a fair bit. Again, not great. Did nothing? Sorry, ain’t buying that.

8.) 15 Aug 2021 11:33:42
Why is everyone willing Jones to be exiled and baying for blood😂 he’s a kid and has plenty of time to establish himself as a consistent starter. Apologies if you aren’t one of those people Mark but i keep seeing Curtis slander everywhere and i have literally no idea where it has come from or why. I swear some people just get bored with youngsters if they don’t become world class after one season. Most rational fans are excited and grateful that our academy is producing home grown talents that we can be proud of and watch develop, but some people only see this as a hinderance. Bizarre.

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand it, Jones is an excellent young talent and we should be cheering him on, not slagging him off.}

9.) 15 Aug 2021 11:52:03
Unfortunately that is the new Liverpool way on social media. A nice start to the season, a good away win pales into insignificance for some who simply see it as another opportunity to slag players off.
Many are simply more interested in transfers than the game itself or supporting "their team".
Hence braindead comments like IPC12's. Not his first either.

10.) 15 Aug 2021 11:55:27
Not sure if Jones will go straight back in after an injury as it’s a risk vs reward business so no need to rush him back into a starting spot v Burnley in my humble opinion. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the 4 forwards start against Burnley with Fab and maybe Naby in midfield. Thiago, Hendo and Jones likely to be on the bench but I think only 2 of the 3 will get minutes in prep for Chelsea and I think it’ll be Hendo and Thiago. Not exiling Jones but for me there’s no need to rush him back but I think we need Hendo and Thiago for Chelsea game.

11.) 15 Aug 2021 12:02:15
Great response Ed, doing my head in this slagging Jones off

🤙.

12.) 15 Aug 2021 12:09:52
If his Fifa card isn't gold or impressive enough then they aren't interested unfortunately.
Salah's first touch for goal yesterday was great and I thought apart from one error Tsimikas performance was very encouraging :)

13.) 15 Aug 2021 12:10:59
I’d go with Fab, Henderson and Jones. Be a good experience for him to start with those two.

14.) 15 Aug 2021 12:15:22
Jonesy agree on Tsmiskas mate I was very impressed. He seemed to tire towards the end but I don’t think that’s him. I honestly believe he was trying to do everything Robbo does up and down for 90 mins. Trent reads the game more so positions himself with far less running than what Robbo does. Shows what an actual machine Robbo is. But as far as first starts go Tsmiskas should be very pleased.

15.) 15 Aug 2021 12:19:02
Ed01 and AW, haven’t you heard? It’s the “I want a new signing at all cost” brigade or the “if our youth player (Jones) is not playing as well as (insert rival youth player here) then, he is crap and need to be replaced by a shiny new toy” brigade.

And you know what’s worse, I bet you some of these fans baying for blood over Jones are the same ones crying on SM for more youngsters to be given chances and when the club does so, they whine cos the player is not playing as well immediately and needs to be binned for a new signing.

16.) 15 Aug 2021 12:33:06
Hi lads. Good win for us yesterday. Midfield before fab came on was the only downside. Ox struggled. keita pressed but was hardly great. milly did his best but he's surely entering his last season. Front 3 were better and defensively we were pretty solid. Ali saved us a couple of times. Kostas looked good cover for robbo. Still wouldn't mind another midfielder to replace shaq coming in personally and attacking option for backup.
Salah. world class.

17.) 15 Aug 2021 13:04:08
Let's hope you're wrong mark mate, haven't seen Jones put he's foot wrong since he's inclusion in our team.

He is everything what Klopp demands from he's midfield. Work-rate, athletism, energy and has got goals in he's game which we sometimes need from our midfield.

Against Burnely is going to be a physical game especially in midfield. They've always kicked our players, think fab is must against them coz will need some physical presence in the middle of the park.

18.) 15 Aug 2021 14:08:39
I thought a few seasons back we played a few in season friendlies albeit behind closed doors. Probably my ageing memory to be fair🤣.

19.) 15 Aug 2021 15:24:39
I think Jones has tremdous potential. I'm excited about his future with the club personally.

{Ed002's Note - He is very, very well thought of.}

20.) 15 Aug 2021 16:07:42
I hope I am wrong as well kopever, I like the lad I hope he gets enough game time.

21.) 15 Aug 2021 16:11:55
Spot on, Ed02 BUT don’t tell that to the CJ Out brigade on here cos clearly they know better than the club that have nurtured him since he was 9 yrs old and that include Stevie G, Pep and Klopp 🙄🙄.

22.) 15 Aug 2021 18:34:30
Wow. Didn’t expect that reaction but we are all entitled to our opinions so respect yours. Not sure why we are slagging off Jones though. He is young, loves the club, works hard not to mention is talented with a lot of potential so why put him down? Btw no one has crown him as the second coming of Christ.

I will stand on what I said in that I would go with Fab, Jones and Elliot only because Burnley will most likely sit back so don’t need two holding midfielders for this particular game. But do I see that my midfield selection transpiring next Saturday, most likely not. It was just my opinion on the midfield for our next game unless either Hendo or Thaigo are fit enough to play from the start, which I think won’t be the case but again could be wrong.

Also to the OP, why was my comments harsh? We clearly lost the midfield battle it’s just Norwich ran out of steam in the second half. That midfield combination for me just doesn’t work or should I say didn’t work. In regards to the players as an individual, I love Milner but he struggles in that holding midfield role in the absence of Hendo or Fab alongside him. Ox I hope and pray will get his form pre ACL but needs games and sadly can’t see him getting it here so where does that leave him and us. Naby I’ll keep it short has simply not worked out.

{Ed0666's Note - I would go Jones, Milner and Fab for Burnley, if hendo or Thiago aren’t fit. I’d give Keita a one way ticket to Kabul and bring on Elliot as first sub if things are going south.

23.) 15 Aug 2021 19:27:29
Fab, Milner and the front 4 for me v Burnley.

24.) 15 Aug 2021 19:04:06
Ed666. That’s the midfield I see being played so think you have called it. I wouldn’t be mad with that choice at all. Milner can provide some experience alongside Jones and Elliot to come as a sub or even vice versa. Think I’ve been scarred from last season with these teams sitting back that I am eager to counteract that. But that was a different time under a completely different team under different circumstances.

Heart wants Jones and Elliot alongside Fab but my head knows two in the team might be a bit much with Milner alongside either Jones or Elliot being the sensible and logical approach. One thing I will say is if Hendo and/ or Thiago aren’t fit and Milner was unavailable for whatever reason, I would sooner go with Jones and Elliot alongside Fab over Naby and Ox alongside Fab. As for Naby we can go halves on that ticket to Kabal.

{Ed0666's Note - my head hurts with all those permeations 😱😂

25.) 15 Aug 2021 21:45:35
One way ticket to Kabul Ed0666, that's a bit strong isn't it, knowing he'd probably be going to his death?

{Ed0666's Note - it was a joke Keith. Light hearted banter on a banter page. Are you the fun police?

26.) 16 Aug 2021 13:47:56
Looks like we did play a friendly on Sunday v Villa.

21 Jul 2021 11:00:03
James Pearce linking us with Jarod Bowen. is this really the best we can look to bring in.

Champs2020

1.) 21 Jul 2021 11:16:54
“James Pearce is linking us with Andrew Robertson, is that really the best that we can do”

At least wait until we sign the players, !

2.) 21 Jul 2021 11:46:54
He's on the shortlist. Fingers crossed towards the bottom.

3.) 21 Jul 2021 11:46:56
I’d never seen Andrew Robertson play to be fair but he cost 8 million. I’ve seen plenty of Bowen and West Ham payed what 25 million for him? I’m guessing he wouldn’t be cheaper than that. are we no longer allowed to question ins and outs?

4.) 21 Jul 2021 11:48:38
The whining over stuff that may never happen is strong with some on here. Well said Zeddicus.

5.) 21 Jul 2021 12:09:31
This is a rumours website almost all of this won’t happen. This is my opinion on a player linked from what I would suggest is a decent source. If we sign Bowen I will support him just my view that for what he would cost we could do better.

6.) 21 Jul 2021 12:18:39
Hang on? What's wrong with Jared Bowen? If the alternatives are Traore or Sarr, then i'll take Bowen every day. He's 24 years old and just scored 8 goals in his first full season in the Premier League. He didn't miss a game either by the way and counts towards the HG quota.

7.) 21 Jul 2021 12:20:42
Man City, United and Chelsea shop at Harrods whilst Liverpool go to the bargain aisle in Lidl. Just because Robertson worked it doesn't mean every cheap option will work.

8.) 21 Jul 2021 12:51:30
@mk scouser, I’d rather give Harvey Elliott and The Ox the minutes and look to use that cash towards a box to box midfield player.

9.) 21 Jul 2021 12:53:20
Have to agree with MK. Bowen might not be anyone's first choice but, assuming the fee is reasonable, he'd be a much, much better option than Traore or Sarr.

10.) 21 Jul 2021 12:57:13
I haven t seen a lot of him so I do t have much of an opinion either way on Bowen.

All the same I felt it was very important I commented on this topic.

11.) 21 Jul 2021 13:01:06
I get that Champs2020. I also want Elliott and Ox given chances. Judging by the friendly yesterday though (and comments from Klopp/ Linjders) Ox is seen as an option in the false 9 and Elliott in the midfield 3. So not necessarily related to Bowen.

12.) 21 Jul 2021 13:03:20
He’s scored more goals in his first full premier league season than Sarr, he’s scored more than Traore ever has and seems to be a hard worker who has stepped up a level pretty well, I can’t recall how the last player we bought who’d also played for Hull got on? Can anyone help be here?

13.) 21 Jul 2021 13:05:23
Anything I've seen of Bowen has been positive. Picks up great positions and has good pace and scores goals. I'd be very happy to sign him.

14.) 21 Jul 2021 13:09:36
Crikey Rudder, have you come across (amongst others)

Pogba - c£90m
Alexis Sanchez - c£25m (plus close to a billion a year in wages! )
Kepa - c£70m
Morata - c£55m
Ake - c£40m
Mendy - c£45m

Just because you flash your cash at Harrods doesn't make you smart!

Every fan knows that we need to get a CM and an attacker. Why would you think that because we spend £100m+ on them, they're going to be good?

In the same window that City paid £45m for Mendy, we paid £8m for Robbo - which one would you prefer?

In the same window that we paid c£37m for Salah, Chelsea paid c£55m for Morata - care to swap?

In the same window that we paid c£35m for Mane, United spent c£90m on Pogba - which one has contributed more to their team?

We've had one expensive flop - Keita. In that time, our rivals have had several each, most of which cost a lot more.

I'd much rather trust the recruitment team to find the right players for the positions we need filling, than spank £100m on a big name just to keep the fans happy, as it won't!

15.) 21 Jul 2021 13:13:10
@zspecialone - West Ham paid upwards of 25 million on him and he has 4 years left in his contract. Don’t think he will come cheap.

16.) 21 Jul 2021 13:34:06
Rudder, shopping at Aldi is how we got our success esp after we picked up VVD and Big Ali from Harrod’s on the way to the the very top of English, European and World football. Not to forget picking up Fab, Keita (a flop, I know) and Thiago from the Rebate aisle at Harrod’s as well. I think we have a great mix in terms of our choice of shops.

Oh and by the way, saying we shop at Aldi is not an insult like you think it is. In fact it is a compliment to our strategic transfer operation and at the same time, a back handed “Pimp” slap to the likes of Utd who have outspent us for years at Harrod’s YET have next to nothing to show for it.

17.) 21 Jul 2021 13:41:56
Rudder,

VVD - most expensive centre half in the world when we bought him. Ali - most expensive goalie in the world when we bought him.

If you are going to make a general statement, at least acknowledge that there is another view.

18.) 21 Jul 2021 13:42:42
Zed bud you could even add Keita in that list 🙈🙈.

19.) 21 Jul 2021 13:43:05
Question it to your hearts content pal but remember your opinion, like all of ours on here, don't matter one iota to Klopp, Edwards and company.

20.) 21 Jul 2021 13:49:17
kopforever, I agree, he is our only real transfer failure, and I mentioned him in my post.

21.) 21 Jul 2021 14:14:09
& expensive too Zed bud compare to the likes of Salah, Mane, Jota, Robbo etc.

22.) 21 Jul 2021 14:40:56
I know for a fact that the tea they sell in Harrods is made by typhoo. So just because your paying top money for something doesn’t mean your getting something better.

23.) 21 Jul 2021 14:46:32
My 2 cents on Bowen for what it's worth. Works extremely hard up and down the right side for West Ham, played CF a few times last season when Antonio was out after Haller left. I can see why Klopp would like him as a player and think he could utilise him (if its true that is) because I didn't see what they (committee, Klopp or whoever) saw in Jota.

24.) 21 Jul 2021 14:57:55
I really like Bowen but I do think we should look for either a right footer who comes in from the left wing or someone who can play as a deep lying or pressing forward. Jared Bowen is again a left footer who is more likely going to occupy a similar spot as Elliott in our formation.

25.) 21 Jul 2021 15:40:02
Rudder. are you sure you are a liverpool supporter?

26.) 21 Jul 2021 14:49:33
Not familiar with Bowen as a player, but if we could get him relatively cheaply in addition to other players such as Bissouma, I wouldn't mind. 8 goals in 40 apps isn't the best tally, but not the worst! I imagine he'd score a few more with us. Although I don't think spending £25 Million on him would be a smart siging IF we could get someone in like Malen for a similar price. We have Elliot already who can play on the wing an was fantastic for Blackburn last season. We also have Minamino and Shaq still at the club. If we end up selling either for 15 million (more likely Shaq) maybe we could get Bowen in.

27.) 21 Jul 2021 16:21:06
given how much West Ham apparently paid for him, I can't see us getting him for a nickel.

all that aside, he'd be a great addition to the squad. There is a player there and he's already shown what he can do. compared to some other names who come with probably the same or higher dollar values, this guy should definitely be considered.

28.) 21 Jul 2021 17:02:34
I think the Bowen interest would be understandable.

He would be relatively cheap - he's not on massive wages - £60k/ week - albeit his up front cost may be as much or more than Malen.

Importantly, he is PL proven, still has room for improvement at his age and, most importantly, is Home Grown.

One explanation for his relatively low stats - 8 goals in 40 starts - is that he has been used in a number of positions by West Ham last year, from midfield to winger to striker. By comparison, I believe Malen has been played as a forward/ striker all season hence you'd expect his goals/ games ratio to be higher.

29.) 21 Jul 2021 17:24:37
You can get some really good products in Lidl 😉.

30.) 21 Jul 2021 20:21:58
Using our own players would be better than signing Bowen. Just because Bowen plays for another club it doesn't mean he is a good idea. Shaqiri and Elliot rather than spending on Bowen please.

Better than Traore or Sarr doesn't make it ok - both would be a bad idea.

31.) 21 Jul 2021 20:54:26
Spot on, Sean. I’d rather use our academy youngsters or Elliot than sign Jared Bowen. He will not improve us one bit and is nowhere near the ability of the front 4 as currently constituted.

To me, Looks like a panic buy to me esp since WH are don’t need to sell. People bigging him up as PL proven, seem to be so desperate for a new signing that they would accept a guy who is nowhere near Donyell Malden’s ability and over pay for him. Sad.

32.) 21 Jul 2021 21:37:03
Totally agree OliRed, he was "on the beach" as they say when West Ham were fighting for top 4, his season completely fizzled out. Use our own if we can't buy better than him - it's squad quality more so than depth we need to add.

15 Jun 2021 21:01:21
Loving the pictures of the new Anfield Road stand but I do feel a little sad that the two new stands may diminish the Kop a little. Is there any way in which the Kop can have a facelift including adding extra seats at any time in the future? Thanks I’m advance.

2.) 14 Apr 2021 18:58:39
Unconfirmed reports so let's not jump the gun.

{Ed001's Note - the Madrid coach had a window smashed by an object thrown from the crowd waiting to welcome the coaches. It has been confirmed and the window is being replaced as I type.}

3.) 14 Apr 2021 19:22:18
They aren't fans they are hooligans. they shouldn't be even gathering in these times. it's bcz of these morons that C.V. isn't being contained and who knows even next season fully fans may not be allowed to stadium.

{Ed0666's Note - it’s not the fault of these idiots that their parents are siblings!

4.) 14 Apr 2021 19:21:25
Thanks ed1, very disappointing to hear mate, problem is vandalism equals no punishment in this country.

{Ed001's Note - even if there was punishment, that is not the way to stop it happening. Deterrents have never worked.}

5.) 15 Apr 2021 07:41:22
What is with these people and smashing opposing teams’ buses? Absolute pieces of work and I hope they get caught and punished.

If I recall correctly he’s a treat. He trained well as a young pup, but on the downside when he started getting older they struggled to teach him any new tricks. People said that even when he was as young as five he seemed to have the experience of a player close to his mid thirties. He is great at retrieving the ball but at times is careless with it and gives it straight back. He’s rubbish in the heat, some people say he’s just pants!

I think there are two sides to this 5 subs rule though. How often do Man City and Liverpool score late on due to battering teams into submission for 70 mins. This allows the teams that park the bus to bring on players of a similar standard to the ones on the pitch with fresh legs to help see out the game.

Hey Ed02 - thanks for the update.

Is it only In this country where you are unable to agree a deal with another club for a future transfer? I seem to remember Bayern for example agreeing a deal in February to buy Upamencano in that coming summer.

Thanks.

Champs2020

{Ed002's Note - No it is to do with dealing directly with a player and his agent when they are becoming free agents - clubs can agree future transfers. So, for example, Liverpool can agree a future move for any player, out of contract or not, with Fulham, but cannot approach any to be out of contract player directly about a transfer until the end of the season, May. But non-English and Welsh sides can approach the player directly from January - equally, that applies across Europe.}

Love Hendo, not just for footy but one of my best mates little boy had leukaemia and he couldn’t do enough for him. An incredible human being and a quality footballer.

I hope he gets the credit he deserves from Liverpool supporters when he eventually calls it a day.

He may struggle some days, but some of his performances over the years have been unreal.

I think Trent looks like he’s bulked up too much. He looks gassed quite early in games which could relate to him having too much muscle.

I agree a midfielder would be nice. I just think Harvey and Jones will get more minutes next season and when Milner finishes we may go for a midfield replacement then. I may be wrong just a gut feeling about Bowen. I don’t think he costs Nunez type money either.

I love this team and for the first time in my life we do t have a player/ position where I think we have a real weakness. Robbo is an interesting one, defensively really good but he does seem to always be the one playing the opposing team onside. I also think Tmiskas has a much better delivery from out wide. But his energy and attitude in the pitch is amazing. he's a great player and a great man.
