I'd like to think that the club has had a deal in place with Iraola for some time and that triggered his departure from Bournemouth. And, out of respect for winning the league, they left Slot in place to season end. That's giving credit where it may not be due, but I'd like to believe it.

Saw Bournemouth against City n how they attacked was similar to Liverpool 2017. Hoeness is also brilliant coach but unknown in prem so safest option would be Iraola.

I hope the stadium gives Slot a good send off. Yes, this season hasn't worked out the way any of us had wanted, but it is done now.

There is no point pouting over what has been a disastrous season after the highs of last year.


I hope, and am pretty sure, Anfield will stay classy and celebrate the great times we have witnessed, both with the players and the manager heading off on new chapters of their careers.

Think if they was going to announce his departure, it will be a couple of days after Sunday. He should have been let go every day since November, but somehow survived, so whats another couple of days matter now.

Funky061, Iraola would be a very good choice for us. His style of play is very much like the Klopp/Buvac heavy metal pressing and fast/direct attacking.

I think Klopp eventually realised, though, that in the English game with 2 domestic cups and 38 league games, that playing that way doesn't work over a full season if you're also trying to compete in a European competition and go deep into those cups. Hence why he and Buvac parted ways and we went to a more reserved pressing game with Lijnders as the assistant, which then brought us the trophies we won between 2019-2024. The Buvac era was riddled with hamstring injuries, poor winters when the schedule was busier, going out of the FA Cup early in January and then losing European finals at the end of the season because we were gassed out.

As fun as it was, it didn't lend itself well to winning trophies in England. Lijnders is much maligned in these parts, but as an assistant manager to Klopp, they found an approach that made us the best team in Europe.

Iraola may need to make those same adjustments or tactical tweaks as well, in my opinion. But I think he's easily a good enough manager and tactician to do it. I'd be ecstatic if he came in. I prefer Hoeness, but either choice would fill me with optimism for the new season.

That is my main concern too, MK. I've no doubt he is a good coach, but even Mr. Heavy Metal dialed it back very early.

I also think Klopp came in at a better time to press. Teams are cuter at playing around the press these days, or as we've seen early this season, over the press and latching onto second balls.
This is a monster club, so it's a step up in that regard for him. But, as you said, he is not used to coaching or even taking part himself in the 3 day a week schedule.

Low blocks will also be new for him. I also have a slight concern that two good seasons with us would equal a switch to Madrid. I don't feel he will be as connected as Arteta is to the Gunners, or Xabi might have been with us.

So I agree he is a very good coach, but I have concerns. I hope the suits see something special about him rather than it just being the case of "make it more like Klopp".

It's a very interesting decision:
Announce he's leaving before match, by mutual agreement, then everyone can say let's hear Anfield at its loudest for him winning No.20, for the team to win on Sunday and ensure UCL football and as a special tribute to our legends who will leave us this summer. It probably stops all chances of booing and signs being raised saying 'Slot out' taking place.


Cons: Not many I can think of.
Don't announce it and it could become toxic in the ground, an awful way to end a very bad season. I don't see the positive in this approach if it's already decided he's leaving.
But that's just my opinion on the last day of the season.

Ned, it makes perfect sense because if he is leaving before the game, no matter how the game goes, the atmosphere will be better.
If Slot is leaving and it's announced after the game, and it's not going well, the Booes will be spoiling the last games. So it makes no sense not to announce it. Will Slot announce it tomorrow in the press conference.

Hearing some news today that Konate has not been offered a new contract, and it is LFC that are reluctant, not him. If so, maybe Hughes and Edwards are smart after all. Konate has been shambolic at best this season.

I personally believe he has been a massive part of the problem.

Kounde and Jacquet coming in to replace Konate and Gomez would be great business in my opinion. I really hope the Kounde deal happens as he is a ready made starter at either RB or CB. Jacquet will be fully fit by pre-season and ready to kick on, as we've not paid £60m for him to sit on the bench. Leoni will be fully fit by pre-season start as well and he's used his time injured to learn English and massively build up his strength and conditioning so he could be banging on the door to get starts as well.



If our CB options were Virgil, Leoni, Jacquet and Kounde we'd be in a very good position next season. The club also seem to really rate the young lad we signed; Mor Talla Ndiaye. I would not be surprised to see him get minutes next season as a 5th choice CB option. Kounde makes a lot of sense though as a RB/CB, because we can't rely on Bradley to definitely be fully fit for the start of the season and Frimpong has struggled badly so far.

Kounde prefers CD over RB, however he links well with Yamal and pops a goal in here and there.

Love him to join, but... cannot see it personally.

Don't write off Senesi for a free-transfer.

I was told about this a long time ago, but believe it still has some legs.

Liverpool at looking being strategic in the market, saving money in certain areas they feel are stronger in (ie CB with VVD, Leoni, Jacquet + youngsters).

Senesi would be a sensible option considering Prem experience and lower salary expectations than a Kounde for instance.
