Am I the only one who doesn't think Haaland is world class? I keep getting roasted at work for this view. He can put the ball in the net. But, for me, there are other qualities needed to be WC.
1.) 18 Jan 2025 11:01:02
We have 4 attackers who has “other qualities” but can’t out the ball in the net. Haaland is a striker and his job is to put the ball into the net which he does very well. So yea.
2.) 18 Jan 2025 11:09:30
I find him to be a flat track bully to be honest, he doesn’t really turn up in the big games and if his supply is cut off he doesn’t affect the game in any conceivable way. Sure he’s incredibly strong and incredibly fast and bullies defenders in the box at his best but when you’re not dominating the ball and spamming the box it’s basically like playing with ten men.
{Ed025's Note - all attackers are reliant on service PB..
3.) 18 Jan 2025 11:09:44
Of course he is world class. Pure CF, just a shame he plays for City who rather play 100 passes than give him the ball early and in behind to run onto. Imagine him playing for us instead of Nunez!
4.) 18 Jan 2025 11:20:37
I fully agree 1988.
Probably the best finisher, pretty terrible at literally everything else.
Think was very evident during the man city slump (has it finished? ?) where he contributed nothing and no goals.
Would love to know ed001 opinion as well as
1 really value it
2 I could very much be wrong of course.
{Ed001's Note - I had pretty much said what Roy Keane said about him before he joined City and he has not improved since. Great goalscorer, but terrible footballer. His only use in build up is to keep making runs in order to force the defence to drop off and so create space. You certainly don't want to pass him the ball as he is worse than Jota at link up play.}
5.) 18 Jan 2025 11:23:46
In my opinion, Haaland is the type of player that needs the rest of the team to serve him in order for him to perform. He isn't the one that you'd turn to to bail you out when things turn rough, which is evident by the poor scoring form that he finds himself in now. He's something like a "win-more" option.
6.) 18 Jan 2025 11:34:40
Don’t really understand the fuss about this “Link up play”. You want a striker to drop in midfield because your midfielders are incapable of doing their job? Honestly I would rather my striker spend more time inside the box than outside box doing all sorts of fancy stuffs.
{Ed001's Note - but you need to get the ball up the pitch.}
7.) 18 Jan 2025 11:35:06
Definitely world class. With keepers, defenders and midfielders it’s a lot harder to assess, but for me when it comes to forward players it’s nearly all about your output. You are in the team to score goals and/ or create goals. Haaland is one of the top 5 goal-scorers in world football. It’s nice having forwards who can press, play nice intricate build up passes or get you off your seat with some flair, but the hardest part of football is sticking the ball in the net. That’s what wins games and what ultimately sets the world class forwards apart.
If you are ever in any doubt whether goals/ assists are everything for a forward, take a look at where our front 3 of Mane, Firmino and Salah currently play their trade. One of them had world class output that allowed him to stay at the top. And it’s not the two playing against moisture farmers on Tatooine.
8.) 18 Jan 2025 11:49:19
He is not having a good season but will still get well over 30 goals probably 40 goals that tells you everything.
9.) 18 Jan 2025 12:00:15
If there was a world 11 now he’d be the striker. So yeh I count that as world class.
10.) 18 Jan 2025 12:48:52
He's like Ian rush on Crack.
11.) 18 Jan 2025 13:00:27
He's a goal scorer and has scored against every team he has faced in the PL so you can't really say he doesn't turn up in the big games.
He also scores in the CL and for Norway so I don't agree with that assumption.
Would I want more from him? Yes but if he continues with the numbers he's getting it doesn't matter as much.
12.) 18 Jan 2025 12:55:38
World class goalscorer but not really a world class player. Similar to how Trent is a world class passer of a ball but not a world class defender.
13.) 18 Jan 2025 13:08:47
What happens to his 10 year contract if City get relegated due to 115?
01 Dec 2024 18:16:56
wait untill we have played anyone deent.
have we played anyone decent yet? im asking for a friend! .

i just watched the 2005 Champions league cup final highlights. gave me goosebumps and a huge smile!
1.) 27 Apr 2020 13:18:01
I watched the whole game with my partner (I must give credit, because we’ve not missed a single competitive game for 3,5 years now), who apparently was not sure of the outcome (but remained positive due to me wanting to watch it again) .
And we rejoiced.
A bit weird to watch old games, but it’s ok to stroll down Memory Lane on occasion right, especially in times like these.
2.) 27 Apr 2020 16:37:55
You've not missed a game for 3 and a half years but your partner was unsure of the outcome of the greatest comeback in a Champion's League final which gave us our 5th title?
I'm confused, but I approve of your use of Margaret Lanterman for your avatar.
3.) 27 Apr 2020 17:45:12
Ahhhh four people per square metre. Those were the days.
4.) 27 Apr 2020 19:04:41
Bakedbeanboy,
A shocking story, right? Does ’someone’ not listen to what I have to say? Or what do I generally talk about, if not CL2005?
5.) 27 Apr 2020 20:24:16
Been watching some old games myself, OP. Last Friday, I watched our game vs Newcastle at St James' Park from last season. I also watched the Spurs game from last season at Anfield (where Lloris' error gave us the W) .
After rewatching those games, I had to ;pinch myself at the the realization that this current gang or Reds are the mentally toughest team I have seen in quite a while. Their ability to keep fighting, keep going regardless of the adversity they face, all while remaining focused and calm with mayhem all around them, is something to behold. True Mentality Monsters, indeed.

hi, this is for Ed001 if you're about?
just wanted your opinion on Curtis Jones. i've liked how comfortable he appears in possession and seems to use the ball quite smartly. and appears he has a decent shot! are the club/ Klopp looking to develop him into a first team regular? he seems ready for more minutes i think. or is being developed to be sold?
cheers mate.
{Ed001's Note - he is seen as having a future with the club and there are no plans to move him on. That is why he has made the bench a few times recently.}
1.) 07 Jan 2020 09:08:25
Of all the youngsters he seems to be the closest to breaking into the squad. Personally, I wouldn’t want to see him go out on loan but game time is always invaluable. What worries me is that we’ve seen a lot of youngsters in recent times go out on loan to never return. Woodburn, Wilson to name just a few. Curtis looks a lot closer to first team than they did though.
2.) 07 Jan 2020 13:05:22
Jones looks far closer to the first team than either Woodburn or Wilson ever looked. If we were forced to play him in league games due to injury i would not be worried one bit. I fully expect him to take Lallana’s place in the squad once he leaves.
3.) 07 Jan 2020 13:50:24
I believe he has more than shown he can give us valuable minutes and with key players like Milner and Fabinho out not to mention the littany of recovering/ tired players, I can't imagine Jones only getting FA cup games.
4.) 07 Jan 2020 14:11:20
i agree, even if he's getting on for the last 15 or 20 to rest some legs. id not be worried by that!
5.) 07 Jan 2020 21:37:28
Agreed. Thing is we have some fantastic midfielders.
6.) 07 Jan 2020 22:51:33
The fact he can play centrally or in a more advanced role too is a real bonus for us, can see him being a cracking player for us.
05 Jun 2017 15:27:49
After all this talk of a left winger, What are peoples thoughts on Albert reina (spelling)? the spanish left winger benitez bought.
i felt a class wide man was the only thing missing from that team could of/ should won the league with a quality winger.
but i really liked hm, not a worldy but pretty direct and did the simple thing pretty well.
1.) 05 Jun 2017 15:35:31
Didn't rate him personally.
2.) 05 Jun 2017 15:49:39
I rated him soon fell out of favour though.
3.) 05 Jun 2017 15:51:40
Riera. He was okay. Not particularly fast, but enough to get the ball upfield and strike in decent crosses. Something happened and he ran afoul of Benitez and the next thing you know he was frozen out of the team and then shipped out.
4.) 05 Jun 2017 16:05:56
He fell out with Rafa and called the club a sinking ship under him. He was sold to turkey.
5.) 05 Jun 2017 15:55:01
Riera unbelievable debut v Man Utd then never really hit those heights again! I think the away kit in those days was pretty much the same as next seasons.
6.) 05 Jun 2017 15:56:20
Didn't hit spearing or a youngster anyway in a training game for a tackle made on him? After that he was shipped out.
10 Mar 2024 10:29:34
Proper rumour that! haha.
01 Aug 2022 11:22:09
Yet, Adrian played 11 games in our title winning season.
28 Sep 2021 22:13:42
after Jones displays in the last two games id say we look decent in the middle, also at the back. The front looks pretty solid too with origi and minamino putting in a couple decent displays!
24 Aug 2021 11:48:11
Rainbow Jeremey, i used t think that about Michael Owen!
06 May 2020 21:30:57
thats a good answwr!
21 Jan 2025 22:33:15
yeah decent game for him.
18 Jan 2025 09:56:23
ML Scousse, the tongue in heel comment was appreciated. I'm holding out hopes for Danns. He does look mustard!
17 Jan 2025 18:39:21
87-89 team for me. what a team.
11 Jan 2025 12:39:47
Macca, basically, is not the hero we deserve, but the hero we needed. ?.
07 Jan 2025 07:24:30
Ed 025! Forgot that! Add it to the list! ??.
{Ed025's Note - will do mate..
