Edd002 ben smith has came out and said there will "be plenty £ available " for klopp in January. Whether that's true or not mate, I'm assuming it will be borrowed money and further debt if we are not selling to buy. Huge misconception for a lot of fans not on this site that hennry can keep cutting checks from thin air with no consequences.

Big Al

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea who "Ben Smith" is Al, but as I have repeatedly said that there will be money made available for players at the right price. You need to find out what he means by "plenty". If any significant amount is to be used it will obviously need to be borrowed and it will obviously make the FFP situation worse without selling.}

1.) 20 Dec 2015 18:12:27
Edd002 he's a bbc football journalist. Cheers for the reply on that.

2.) 21 Dec 2015 07:37:10
Over the years Ben Smith has relentlessly proven that he knows about as much about what goes on at LFC HQ as I do.

20 Dec 2015 10:19:47
Edd002, any truth on chelseas interest in benteke mate?

Big Al

{Ed002's Note - No Al, sorry.}

1.) 20 Dec 2015 11:38:36

2.) 21 Dec 2015 10:35:44
what a shame.

03 Aug 2015 13:16:03
Edd001 is the Kovacic bid still on the table?

Big Al

{Ed001's Note - I don't think it is any more mate.}

22 Apr 2015 10:40:22
Edd001, reports skrtl will sign extension unfortunately. Do you think even with change of management he will remain here?

Big Al

{Ed001's Note - sadly it seems so. No idea why, but yes it looks likely he will stay for now.}

1.) 22 Apr 2015 11:32:57
I find it baffling he has managed to stay and play while Agger was forced to leave. Agger was slower (than he already was) but he still read the game well and as far as ball playing centrebacks go there weren't many better in EPL.

2.) 22 Apr 2015 11:38:34
Give the guy a break. at least he shows courage and fight and gets stuck in. yes he makes errors but doesn't hide like some.

3.) 22 Apr 2015 11:59:12
Dezmondo it's his errors that costs us games.Yes he's a ok defender but we need quality in there right now.He is either one tackle away from a free kick or a penalty. There has to be better players out there.
Barry inLouth

4.) 22 Apr 2015 14:06:38
Barry his errors usually come as he is trying to come across to cover in the full back posistions or because we don't have a decent defensive mid he gets pulled out of podistion and is then chasing trying to stop an attack or break play up. He wins a lot in the air and in a settled back 3 or 4 he us the best we have imo mate. Not all will agree but then that's what us Liverpool fans do isn't it.

5.) 22 Apr 2015 15:41:17
He's our best defender why wouldn't he he's under rated in my opinion a bit rash granted but still a very good defender who can contribute to a few goals

6.) 22 Apr 2015 16:20:54
Mate isn't great we can come on here and air our views but at the end of the day we just love the club.
Barry inLouth

7.) 24 Apr 2015 21:42:13
Skrtel drops to deep and plays people onside, we should be pushing up and playing them offside. I don't know how many times I've seen everyone in a line except Skrtel who's 5 yards deeper, 2 players push past the line and Skrtel plays them all onside for a 2v1.

I do admire the guy, I think he's got great heart and determination, he's a real warrior, but his dropping deep when everyone else is holding a line costs us more often than not.

21 Apr 2015 09:44:43
Edd002 are juve showing interest in sterling? Reported in some papers.

Big Al

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach for Sterling from Juventus, and I think it very unlikely they would have any serious interest. Right now they are pretty set on what they want and expect to do this summer.}

1.) 21 Apr 2015 10:23:25
In short no. As Ed says they already have targets and a pretty strict budget set so unless one of their targets go elsewhere their plans will not change.

Just as an after thought I have not heard of any italian team being interested in Sterling. In general they are not really keen on English players out there as they often struggle to settle.

Looking back when we had the best midfield in Europe. Gerrard in his prime, mach, alonso, carragher, reina in that spine and torres at his best. Also quality like arbeloa and kuyt and we won nothing. Depressing looking back at that.

Big Al

1.) 19 Feb 2018 18:41:45
One man robbed them of glory. Federcio Macheda.

2.) 19 Feb 2018 18:00:05
Never look back only foreword Al.

3.) 19 Feb 2018 18:52:08
Spot on, Barry. There is nothing to be gained by referring to the past. You take the lessons and use them to form a better future.

4.) 19 Feb 2018 18:58:51
If you need cheering up Al, just watch that youtube clip posted earlier. Firmino. What a star - joy to watch. And Salah’s too. Amazing that both clips only show matches from this season! Loved watching them both.

5.) 20 Feb 2018 00:53:25
Who played up front in 2005? Was it the French guy, cissy? And morienties wasn't it? I remember Luis garcia, he was class.

6.) 20 Feb 2018 01:36:31
it was Baros and niel mellor.
Cisse was injured from mire than half a season and garcia plated as a second striker
watched every game that season. loved those days.

7.) 20 Feb 2018 05:30:42
lest we forget Le Tallec. And his pal Pongolle!

07 Jan 2018 13:05:21
Coutinhos departure may unfortunately show up the lack of quality in midfield for the rest of the season. Creatively we could really struggle especially against teams that sit. I don't see a replacement in January. This could actually be a huge blow to the rest of our season. The money means nothing if we don't finish in the top four and hopefully win something.

Big Al

1.) 07 Jan 2018 13:50:50
I very much agree. It would be nice if we could sort something out to bring in Keita this window. Otherwise, I expect we will struggle to achieve a comfortable top 4 finish.

2.) 07 Jan 2018 13:53:06
We don’t have one player in that midfield with an eye for a pass or who can be a threat from shooting from distance.

3.) 07 Jan 2018 13:31:09
Which of course we had already guaranteed would happen if we kept coutinho, oh wait even with coutinho we only have to lose one game to not be able to win a trophy and it’d be a fight for the top 4. We might lose in the cup and we might not get top 4 and we might not but we will never know if coutinho leaving will impact that.

4.) 07 Jan 2018 13:35:08
Our win record is better without Coutinho than it is with him in the team.

5.) 07 Jan 2018 13:35:21
This season^^^.

6.) 07 Jan 2018 13:36:21
I think it's starting to sink in amongst fans now that it was a dreadful decision to let a world class player leave mid season.

{Ed025's Note - not much you can do about it really mate..

7.) 07 Jan 2018 13:38:23
Points, not win 😂.

8.) 07 Jan 2018 13:44:59
We have a new weapon against the teams that sit now, Big Virgil gives us a genuine threat at set pieces now, something we have lacked for a while. We have started the yr 2 wins from 2, without Coutinho and Salah, with both winners coming from the Centre Backs contributing to the goals. We have for too long struggled with corners at both ends of the pitch. We have paid 75 million to try and help rectify this. Come on you reds.

9.) 07 Jan 2018 15:22:31
FC8, how is it a dreadful decision to let a player (who has clearly told the club and anybody with functioning ears) that he wants out at all costs, leave? It is well-known that if a player no longer wants to play for you, there is nothing you, the coach or the owners can do about that, right? So with that in mind, what do you think the owners or Klopp should have done to keep Cou?

06 Jan 2018 23:25:47
On mahrez. He's a winger, is he replacing coutinho or salah? I'm assuming salah. I see lemar reguardless of mahrez being sought probably more likely in the summer. As for attitude, benny why are you talking about a back? Are you talking about coutinho? I've already spoken about coutinhos attitude and also he's a Barcelona player, what's the point?
Mahrez was like a few at Leister appalling when the club were struggling under raneiri especially behind the scenes. You really think he's a team player and fighter? You think if klopp has a bad patch he's a player to perform and dig in? I certainly don't. I don't want that at our club. We could have another sakho situation on our hands were he pisses klopp off and his future with us will be cut short rapidly.
You're harping on about stats and goals. Few have criticised his quality (when he decides to turn up) many are wary of him. He could be a fantastic buy if he performs and keeps his head down. If *.

Big Al

1.) 07 Jan 2018 00:22:42
What are you bringing salah up for?
Mahrez would be a replacement for coutinho. An that, to me would be an upgrade. He is a beautiful footballer, that got stuck in massively for leicesters cause. People forget leicester were a counter attacking team, he was up and down that flank all season the year they won the PL.
For people moaning he is a winger, I think he will be fantastic in the cam role with two engines behind him. Him being a winger doesn't make a difference. I was a cf that ended up being paid playing in goal. Countless wingers have gone on to be great central midfielders/ CAMS. David silva, KDB, Gerrard (best days were at RM) Ozil, Sanchez, messi pre suarez, Erickson to name a few.
I just want people to look past him being a winger, he would be fantastic pulling strings with the magic 3 in front. An besides, our front four are interchangeable with fluid rotation. All basis would be covered, from skill and assists with bobby/ mahrez, to pace and goal threats from mane and salah.
And then there is the people moaning about his attitude. How would you feel if you win the league then see kante, drinkwater, schlupp and huth all sold. Yet you not be allowed to go? He didn't get his move this summer, yet hasn't faked back injuries to avoid 6 games i make it now, hasn't had his family slag off his club etc etc.
Rant over, fully support mahrez if he comes, maybe im the only one who can see what a talent he is. oh wait he was pfa/ writers/ fa player of the year as well as african footballer of the year. But dave down the pub said he's no coutinho, so we best stay clear?
an breath :)

2.) 07 Jan 2018 00:39:11
Sky sports saying that LFC are not interested in Mahrez.

3.) 07 Jan 2018 02:38:31
At this point, its obvious Lemar is who Klopp really wants in our midfield. We made our bed by selling Couts before signing a replacement so just pay what it takes to sign Lemar. It could be the difference between playing UCL or Europa next season.

01 Jan 2018 14:15:25
I can't stress how much I hate changing keepers. just give karius his run of games.

29 Dec 2017 13:14:47
I'd love us to sign a world class midfielder in the summer. Cans future is elsewhere, keita looks potentially very good but we haven't had a special midfielder in years. Gerrard was past his prime even four years ago and alonso was sold nearly a decade ago. I like Henderson but he's nowhere near the quality of midfielders we've had in the past. Coutinho isn't a central midfielder before he's brought up.

1.) 29 Dec 2017 13:44:46
I had a look at Goretzka on YouTube, not reliable I know. Also not sure how reliable the interest is, I’d like to hear from ed02 if it’s genuine or nonsense instead of all the rubbish I read about him being in the bag as I don’t believe much unless ed02 confirms it. But from what I saw he looks a similar player than Gerrard, a driving force from midfield with a good range of passing with a good shot on him and an eye for goals. Like I said I just had a look on YouTube so not getting carried away as they highlight the good bits and can probably make Mignolet look half decent. Anyway it’s be nice hearing from people who have actually seen him play regularly to hear if he’s consistent enough and what sort of player he actually is?

{Ed002's Note - Schalke have offered Leon Goretzka a very good new contract and he is mulling that over whilst he is aware of offers from Barcelona and Juventus that will be formalised in January. Additionally his representatives spoke with three English sides in November and are also aware of renewed interest from Bayern Munich, although that is complicated by regulation. Arsenal having taken a new employee on board are certainly interested and I would not rule out Manchester United but he is perhaps third or fourth pick for them. For reasons that are beyond me, many Liverpool fans are convinced that he has already agreed to join the club. Liverpool's interest stems from when they were struggling to agree a deal for Keita and he was seen as a potential option but they have since returned to declare an interest with his representatives. Bayern Munich are making it known that they would offer a guarantee for the summer but they cannot speak to Goretzka in January - although they will continue to make their position clear to his agent. The player has said he would like to move to Barcelona. Right now he has an offer of a very significant package from Schalke that he knows other clubs will not match, offers coming from Barcelona and Juventus, an offer of a summer move with a significant signing on fee to Bayern Munich and interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and potentially Manchester United.

From the interested clubs you can see he is well thought of.}

2.) 29 Dec 2017 13:46:43
Not world class yet but has the potential to be one. A midfield 2 of Keita and Goretzka won't look too shabby, will it?

3.) 29 Dec 2017 13:48:04
Keita has the potential to be very very good for us i don’t think you will be asking us to sign a midfielder this time next year.

4.) 29 Dec 2017 13:50:46
Leon Goretzka would be a massive coup! He is a very good player eyed by some of the heavy weights! A midfiled of Goretzka and Kieta would be brilliant!

5.) 29 Dec 2017 13:58:50
I think Keita is better then 'potentially very good' mate he's a top top player have you not seen him play? not a dig just asking. He's what we've needed for a very long time, I would love for him to be partnered with somebody equally as good as him but we'll see.

6.) 29 Dec 2017 14:05:29

7.) 29 Dec 2017 14:06:51
Big al. Would goretkza or lemar do?

8.) 29 Dec 2017 14:58:41
Great update ed thanks. Jesus looks like he has a string of top clubs to choose. Barca, Juve, Bayern all interested. I guess we will see what develops.

Top reply as always ed and thank you for your reply much appreciated.

Ox? Unless he's transformed into a top class right back I don't want him nor see the need for him. That's a signing that makes absolute no sense.
Van dikj will be a great signing.

City are a level above us, it's reality. I'd have preferred Barcelona or Madrid.
City are the best side side in Europe right now. Barcelona are a regressing side in a poor overall league with their forwards carrying them as is Madrid.
We'll see how it pans out. They could be two great matches but we also could get obliterated. We definitely need Henderson to be fit. Forget about competing in midfield with can and Milner.

United are awful to watch mate. I'm glad the Premier league has this man city side because if united were top of the league it'd be a travesty to football. United have become an a list stoke side.

Mourinho and old Trafford was always going to be a tough one. I would happily have taken a draw before the game. You did what yall had to do.
I look at Liverpool and compare how far we are away from city. I don't even look at United anymore even if yous finish ten points ahead of us.

United are interesting. It's a poor side with a world class keeper. Pogba is not a top class Premier league player. Mourinho gets flack for their style of play but without him they'd be outside the top 4.
