Hello guys, I’ve been told a rumour by someone supposedly close to the club.

Apparently the board are extremely unhappy with both this season and Arne Slot. The whole “transition season” narrative is said to be more PR than reality behind the scenes.

That being said, Slot reportedly won’t be sacked. From what I’ve heard, the club’s analytics and recruitment people don’t actually believe there’s a manager currently available who’s clearly better than him. Liverpool also supposedly have zero interest in Xabi Alonso despite all the noise online.



The plan, apparently, is to give Slot a third season. If things start badly, then the club would move for Julian Nagelsmann.

From what I’m hearing, Nagelsmann is the manager they really want long-term, but they know they can’t realistically get him before the World Cup. That’s why Slot is being given another season. If he turns it around, then brilliant, problem solved. If not, the club can go all in for Nagelsmann afterwards.

Enrique isn't joining this bin fire. Given how many times Slot has had his pants down this season, there's evidently multiple managers better than him. He couldn't even beat a PE teacher.

We are now looking at writing off multiple seasons.

Next season will be like when we sacked Bodgers. Only this time Nagelsmann is nothing like Klopp. He's The Teutonic Bodgers, so we're binning off one manager hopelessly out of his depth for another one. Piss poor stuff from all concerned.

Hughes lives in Bournemouth & doesn't attend all the home games. Edwards works out of FSGs Stockport offices, and very rarely visits the AXA or Anfield on match days.

Slot lives in Altrincham, near the airport, so he can get back to the Netherlands after most games...

Journalists reveal what clubs want revealed. When journalists are briefed, as plenty have been tonight in regard to Alonso/Chelsea, it is part of a plan. If you are familiar with Edwards and how he operates, you will also know how his media briefing antics work.

Yes, Chelsea have made an approach to Xabi Alonso’s agent, and no, I personally am not concerned. It would take a colossal f*** up for it to be fumbled now.



Edwards wants journalists to brief that Slot is staying and we have not made an approach for Alonso. Making negotiations public before the end of the season can destabilise talks and bring other clubs into the fold. While Alonso hasn’t signed for us, it leaves any door open, hence why talks with Chelsea have taken place. Liverpool have been and remains his first choice since his departure from Real Madrid.

I can't say I know any insights, but I agree with the sentiment. It also doesn't look good when you're briefing the world about a new manager taking over from one who isn't retiring.

Man City did this with Pellegrini and it went down like a lead balloon when they announced Pep as the new manager without telling Pellegrini he was gone.



I remember years ago, O'Neill was meant to take over West Ham and they announced it before the agreed time and having not informed the current manager. O'Neill subsequently walked away from managing the Hammers because of how they went about their business.

Been told this afternoon that people around Alonso are growing frustrated with how slow Liverpool have been to make a definitive call.

Chelsea have sensed that uncertainty for a while and that's partly why they've accelerated contacts recently.

The feeling a few weeks ago was that Liverpool would move once the season finished. That confidence seems less solid now.

Still hearing Edwards is far more open to Alonso than some above him.

Ornstein also said that we are not even considering Alonso as we are preparing our summer signings for Slot to give him the opportunity to 'judge him fairly'. All season, we have heard of these 'mitigating circumstances' similar to when we hear phrases like 'market opportunities'.

This is all PR and messaging for the club through Ornstein, who we all know is close to the club, and basically on the payroll. Not happy about it, but I have a bad feeling that Slot is in fact staying for next season and we may just see Alonso at Stamford Bridge!
