Read online we may be willing to let Mo go for around £70mil.

I am not asking Ed’s or anyone if true, what I am asking my fellow supporters is would you take it?

Personally think we have had the best of Mo now, the clock is running down and possibly time to get the new blood in, £70mil is good money and should get a replacement of good quality.

Who

{Ed025's Note - and who do you think will pay £70m for a 30 year old on over £300k a week who has seen his better days exactly?..

1.) 12 Feb 2023 19:44:02
I think the report was talking about PSG.

Myself, I have no idea - I wouldn’t pay it if I was a Manager.

If someone offered it though, I would take it.

2.) 12 Feb 2023 20:43:05
Not that I believe it but I read £50 million. Highly doubt PSG would pay it plus wages to be fair.

3.) 12 Feb 2023 20:52:59
He did have that meeting with the PSG chairman which could of course be entirely innocent and unrelated. I sincerely doubt we’d get £70m. I think we’d be lucky to get £50m in the same way Mane wasn’t going to command top whack. It’s going to be a very painful summer I suspect. I don’t think he’ll be the only one of our better players looking to jump ship either as it needs a lot of money to fix all our issues and our dear benefactors don’t have the resources or interest in the club to put it right.

4.) 12 Feb 2023 21:16:21
@Ed025 It’s obvious - Chelsea ?.

{Ed025's Note - surely not even them would be that silly WDW..

5.) 12 Feb 2023 21:44:12
A Saudi league club would pay £70 million and more. They would love to have Mo in their league.

6.) 13 Feb 2023 01:20:59
There would be loads of teams that would be in for Mo he’s literally worshipped in Egypt and all over North Africa. A huge commercial signing of nothing else.
I’d imagine the Saudi’s especially would be all over it!

7.) 13 Feb 2023 07:01:49
yes I would take 70mil. His contract extension, to me, will be one of our worst bits of business. FSG should be praised for going against the grain with that deal, but I wish we had stuck to the principles and let him go when his value was the highest. Hard to see how he lives up to the remainder of his contract, especially while he is being paid almost in congratulations of what he had already accomplished. didn't seem like a recipe of success for me.

8.) 13 Feb 2023 07:14:34
Hi Ed025.

I fully understand 70m for a 30 year old is crazy. but let's be honest here, it isn't as crazy as someone else somewhere, will buy the GOAT known as Harry Maguire from Utd.

So why not.

{Ed025's Note - they could make a film about it JLCBM "when Harry met Salah".. :)

9.) 13 Feb 2023 08:38:11
Yeah but that but you were paying for his potential return. Mo has arguably reached his peak, so to think another club would pay $70mil is a bit hopeful. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second if that offer came in.

10.) 13 Feb 2023 09:19:49
Juventus paid more than that for an older Ronaldo on higher wages.

The Mane deal was low because he had a year left on his contract also.

Salah would easily fetch £60-70m from a club like PSG, Bayern, Barca, Madrid etc. Would've included Juve too but, oops!

11.) 13 Feb 2023 09:29:29
"When Harry met Salah! " Made me chuckle, Ed025. Thanks for that, mate. You're obviously in good form today and looking forward to tonight. Hope you're well.

12.) 13 Feb 2023 09:38:44
Mk, mate, that's Ronaldo lol and he paid it back with near-on 30+ goals each season for Juve. I'm not sure you can compare Mo's career at the same stage, profile and expected output over the next 3 years. It's not comparable.

13.) 13 Feb 2023 09:59:03
If it wasn’t for Salah our top scorer would be someone who hasn’t been fit since November.

14.) 13 Feb 2023 10:10:16
Just because Salah is highly valuable to us, doesn't mean he'd be the same elsewhere. He's been remarkable for Liverpool but do others really put him on such a high pedestal?

15.) 13 Feb 2023 10:24:17
Salah scores about 30 a season and is one of the most marketable players on the planet right now. I don't think he'd fetch the same as Ronaldo did, just used that as an example that just being older doesn't diminish your value entirely. I literally estimated a price 40% lower than what Ronaldo went for when he was 3 years older "lol".

{Ed001's Note - you mean the price that Juve inflated it to? You do realise they just got docked 15pts for lying about transfer fees and falsely inflating the amounts right? So you can forget any reported fee for any Juve player, they will be a complete lie.}

16.) 13 Feb 2023 10:45:44
If we do decide the time is right to sell him, my choice for a replacement would be Marcus Edwards or Michael Olise. Olise has potential to be really special, he'll never be as prolific as Mo but he's the kind of player who can cut through a stubborn defence.

17.) 13 Feb 2023 12:08:04
When Harry met Salah ??????

Nice Ed.

Good luck tonight Ed, we're going to need it ?.

18.) 13 Feb 2023 12:38:42
I'd take it, I was disappointed that he was handed a mega bucks contract. He's lost his mojo, he's predictable, not going past defenders, his first touch is worse than a barn door, gives the ball away too often, terrible passing ability and his decision making is woeful. He is one of the main contributing factors to our poor run of form. (but if he scores a hatrick tonight, I'll take him for a kebab in my local)

19.) 13 Feb 2023 18:13:40
Wanted to say thanks to all for the comments, really appreciate everyone’s thoughts and also those of the Ed’s - especially When Harry met Salah - that’s priceless ?

It will be interesting to see how / if it unfolds at the end of the season.

I too think £70mil is quite a stretch for all reasons mentioned.

Thanks everyone ?.

{Ed025's Note - your welcome mate..

20.) 13 Feb 2023 19:44:57
Salah is one of the most marketable players on the planet? Sorry, I don’t see it myself. I think his marketability shines brightest in the eye of Egyptian and Liverpool supporters but don’t see that transfer across the world.

21.) 13 Feb 2023 19:46:56
Who do we replace Salah with folks. Because a fully fit Nunez, Gakpo and Jota are no where near as good as a 30 year old Salah.

22.) 14 Feb 2023 23:52:40
That’s a 23 year old Nunez and a 23 year old Gakpo and a 26 year old Jota (who is probably the best instinctive finisher at the club as things stand. They are the future of the club. Mo had an absolute purple patch of about 18 months to 2 years when he was absolutely outstanding and nobody (least of all defenders) could touch him. He isn’t the future for the club. If an offer of 70m, to use the number pulled out of the air for this thread, was offered, we’d be very foolish not to give it serious consideration.

As an aside, I know Darwin is rapid but it seemed for the first goal that Cody G, had his ar$e in gear too. I was surprised at his speed.

23.) 15 Feb 2023 15:28:41
Gakpo is rapid. It just doesn't look it because his strides are massive so his legs don't move as quickly. I said when we signed him he reminded me of Bobby and yesterday he really showed that. He holds onto the ball so well. Much prefer him central and Nunez left.

24.) 15 Feb 2023 22:10:11
Got to see that Salah's reign with us is done, I would have preferred to sell him last summer and kept Sadio happy if that was an option. Some mix of Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo and Jota will be our front 3 and that sounds great.
Would love the freedom of wages to allow us to make a big signing elsewhere as well.

Still gutted we didn't take the £150m+ that was reported for Salah a few years back. He is a great player, but elevated by our system over the years.

25.) 16 Feb 2023 21:31:07
Form is temporary.

Afternoon all and Eds,

I have no idea we’re we’ll end up manager wise and will accept whoever comes in - huge shoes to fill, but we must move on.

So, are there any managers in the Prem we would like to see given a chance - only examples names and not suggestion - but the likes of Rob Edward’s or Vincent Kompany FOR EXAMPLE.

Just wondering and agree before saying, yes it comes with great risk I know.

I think the direction seems to be heading for Amorim, but that is press and media - so no idea myself ??‍♂️.

Who

1.) 31 Mar 2024 13:59:46
No idea either mate, haven't got a clue. People and the media are coming out with all sorts. One thing for sure is, people won't be happy with whoever it is until they prove themselves. It's a hard job taking over after Klopp. Nobody will find it easy but I suppose it's upto us to support whoever comes in and hope for the best.

2.) 31 Mar 2024 16:10:23
Short answer Who, no, there isn’t any current premier league manager who is fit to be our new manager. And certainly not Kompany.

3.) 31 Mar 2024 16:12:36
We may not be the best option for some managers. Barca, Bayern maybe the mancs great choice to have if everyone goes after the same one.

4.) 31 Mar 2024 19:07:15
All of us fans have to accept that whoever comes in is not Klopp, accept we’ve had a good period under him and get behind the new manager with all we’ve got.

5.) 31 Mar 2024 19:11:45
Hansi Flick is keen on managing in the Premier League, according to the BBC, and is currently available. I am still somewhat surprised that Diego Simeone's name hasn't come up more. Still a very talented manager and could be a decent fit for our club.

6.) 31 Mar 2024 20:06:39
How would Simeone be a decent fit for our club? A cheating scumbag that plays anti-football?

Keep Simeone away from our club at all costs.

7.) 31 Mar 2024 19:49:14
Diego Simeone is the highest paid manager in professional football, at 30 Million per year. I very much doubt FSG will take this route.

8.) 31 Mar 2024 20:45:10
Diego Simeone gets the best out of what he has, his players will run through walls for him, he has a great relationship with the supporters, he’s won titles in a very difficult league which is only usually Real or Barca. He knows how to defend and he knows how to win ugly when needed. I’d rather him than Nagelsmann or Flick, Nagelsmann for the reasons I’ve said before and Flick has had no success beyond the comfort zone of Bayern Munich. Guarantee that if Simeone was our manager and we won ugly at City and United and he rubbed it the faces of Gaurdiola and Seven Hag to wind them up while he was at it, you’d all love it,

9.) 01 Apr 2024 02:11:10
Atletico are dire to watch. His football is aking to Mourinho's during his first stint at Chelsea. Super defensive, extremely ugly, and low scoring. I don't believe that he can get the best out of his players as well. Flair and attacking players seem to struggle under his style of play and don't seem to do as well as defensive-minded ones. Most of us here lamented the workman-like midfield that we had in Hendo and Milner. Well, under Simeone, you can multiply that by 10x since that is how he prefers all his players to play. We may win things and be competitive, but it won't be the attacking play that we expect our team to play with. So no, I don't think he is a good fit for us at all.

{Ed001's Note - Mourinho's first spell at Chelsea was not low scoring.}

10.) 01 Apr 2024 15:54:55
I sort of agree with vv on the simeone, seems a horrible person but clearly he can’t be an arse to work for/ with. The players do seem to give there all for him. Defensive they are brilliant however. He’s definitely a coach that knows what he’s doing. However horrible he seems. Not sure how good he is in the market but they’ve had some very good players.

12 Aug 2023 08:16:12
Great to see Bobby lighting up his new league, what a player.

Who

It’s a retirement league mate.

2.) 12 Aug 2023 13:06:15

Hi Ed’s and all,

Seeing Bajetic grow this season has been awesome in a challenging season.

My question for Ed’s and all is how long is his contract and is anyone aware of contract talks to extend his contract / increase wages etc?

As mentioned below Barce may watching him - can imagine his performances are getting attention with his young age.

Thanks as always.

Who

{Ed014's Note - his contract expires June 2027, looks like he only signed it last month according to transfermarkt.

1.) 19 Feb 2023 20:43:56
Thank you for the quick reply on that Ed014, really helpful ??.

{Ed014's Note - no probs

2.) 20 Feb 2023 06:36:28
Bajcetic turned down Barcelona and Madrid when he signed for Liverpool. If we're winning trophies in the coming years, I don't think he seems like the sort of kid who will try and jump ship. Hopefully not anyway.

3.) 20 Feb 2023 10:38:00
MKS, Baj turned down Utd to sign for us too, btw. Barcelona have WAY bigger problems (including potential corruption charges) so not sure they are worried about a kid getting good game time at LFC and besides, La Masia still churns out very good young players, the last time I checked.

4.) 20 Feb 2023 16:11:35
At the age of 25, he will have given us 6-7 years of service. And if his progression continues without any obstacles then he could conceivably be world class (fingers crossed) . I wouldn't begrudge him his move. And we'd get a hefty price too. How often do you see players staying beyond 6-7 years at the same club? Once in a blue moon.

21 Jan 2023 15:43:55
Taking a slightly positive perspective (been hard to do lately) at least it’s 2 clean sheets in a row - bit of a wooden spoon view I know ?.

Who

1.) 21 Jan 2023 16:32:35
I know there will be a lot of doom and gloom after this but I was actually happy to see some defensive resilience. The attack was horribly disjointed but this, for me, was clearly down to a lack of confidence. Thiago for all his ability, seriously lacks composure where he consistently tries to force a pass that’s not on and ends up giving up possession cheaply.
Plenty of times today we got into great positions only to pick the wrong choice or snatch at shots. A confident Trent controls that ball and shoots rather than hitting first time.

But the positive is that can. All be worked on over time so hopefully we can begin to turn a corner.

2.) 21 Jan 2023 16:18:56
VAR played its part in that ( and Wolves in the Cup), there won't be any rants about that till the next match. The decisions from VAR should equal itself out over a long season for every premier team.

3.) 21 Jan 2023 17:22:18
Keep thinking we can’t get any lower than this.
Just waiting for the :
Klopp walks and FSG staying.

4.) 21 Jan 2023 17:33:19
We needed to concentrate on being harder to beat and we’re doing that. Back to basics and build on that. It’s not going to be pretty for a while but it’s needs must for now.

5.) 21 Jan 2023 16:18:56

6.) 21 Jan 2023 20:19:17
007 are you referring to the offside goal? That was actually offside so VAR got the correct decision. That’s not lucky it’s the rules of football VAR just allows us to correct incorrect offside calls which is what they did today.

15 Jan 2023 17:19:57
Evening all,

I am really scratching my head about our performances in all areas across the pitch, being out played tactically.

Completely agree our midfield has simply lost all energy, defence seem confused and attack stunted.

Other than buying loads of players, I would really like to know what is wrong - especially from Ed01 - would really appreciate your thoughts and that of others.

I am really at a loss after just 1 year to play so differently.

Who

{Ed001's Note - tactics are not working and the coaching doesn't seem able to drill them to play them well either.}

1.) 15 Jan 2023 19:14:42
Exactly ed usually if that is happening its on the coach, also coach saying we don't need to spend let's find solutions within the squad which is making us go backwards. His philosophy at the minute is hurting us.

2.) 15 Jan 2023 19:21:14
Thanks Ed01, value your thoughts and glad it’s not far from what I’ve seen.

I have wondered about the coaching side and if that’s a big problem at the moment as would make sense rather than players suddenly not playing.

Who is primarily responsible for the coaching problem and possibly tactics anyone? So easy to blame Klopp, not that I am, but of course he does play a part in our problems - but many others are involved too.

Just want everyone’s thoughts as I watch my team just shaking my head - as you can guess I am no expert though.

{Ed001's Note - well Klopp is in charge, so he is ultimately to blame for the coaching and tactics. I believe the main problem is that he has the wrong assistant. Lijnders has his ideas and they simply don't work.}

3.) 15 Jan 2023 19:43:01
Ed01 - what would you do?

{Ed001's Note - search for a better assistant for Klopp.}

4.) 15 Jan 2023 20:24:01
I tend to agree that it seems like the end of a cycle for many of Liverpool's starting XI.
But I also wonder how much of a drain - both physical and mental - last season was.

Playing in three finals, being in the running for the title until the last day. They were close to an unprecedented season, but finished rather tamely, albeit with 2 domestic cups. That can't have been easy.
It wasn't terribly surprising that they started this season slowly. And then the world cup break wouldn't have helped either.

New signings in midfield, refresh a couple other positions, and I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool are in the top European spots again. Though I do feel that Klopp will need a sort of rebuild, I wouldn't put it past him yet. I wouldn't expect City levels of success but I think Klopp and Liverpool's demise seems a bit exaggerated.

5.) 15 Jan 2023 20:42:59
Seems hard to blame pep when we don't see the day to day, kind of surprised he doesn't get the protection klopp does in here.
Something needs to change though, and pep would be the first thing to try, as unlikely it could hurt at this stage!

6.) 16 Jan 2023 09:23:04
Thanks Ed01 and all for your replies - really enjoyed reading your thoughts.

Fingers crossed something happens to change our season before it’s too late - I can’t stand the idea of not being in CL as a minimum.

Thanks everyone ??.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

7.) 16 Jan 2023 16:46:26
Pep has as much power and input that Klopp allows. The buck stops with him.

Blimey, I’m not sure anyone will want to come to us reading this - we don’t even have a replacement and they’ve already lost our support because they’re not Alonso.

Try a little enthusiasm people, devastating losing Klopp - but it was always going to happen and should be grateful we’ve had him for so long

Chin up folks, LFC are evolving, that’s all.

Oh my is this still going on?

Please let it go - no smokescreens, nothing ‘fishy’ just negotiations. We are not talking about what chocolate bar is best value for money - it’s excess of £100 mil.

He wants Chelsea (and why not) and they are negotiating, we should move on anti other targets and let MC and Chelsea get it done - I have no problem with this at all.

Maybe we could move on to other targets for position and maybe just look forward to the game tomorrow - could be a belter or very tentative!

I still like the idea of a DM, move Trent to MF and get a RB - also a CB would also be great if possible.
Not asking Ed’s (especially Ed002 who has probably had enough today understandably) for anything on this be assured.
Also not sure who is viable for these positions other than the obvious, Lavia, Pavard etc.
Just something I think could work ?.

I was not looking to instigate a debate about players from and to Chelsea, just appreciate the Chelsea Academy players produced - some excellent talent.

I know very little, just love watching football, chose Liverpool a lack of geographical knowledge (was very young in early 80’s) and picked a random team ??‍♂️ supported since.

Exciting season ahead, we’ve improved, Arsenal have and still plenty of transfer window left - thrilling times and for Ed002 - a new and talented manager - would be great to see Chelsea back in the mix ??

An exciting season ahead and some superb teams - great football and no rivalries - just the beautiful game ?.

I am with the opinions that Caicedo should be allowed to prefer whatever team he wants.
When it comes to transfers, so many factors are involved I honestly don’t have a clue about them - but player needs, transfer fees whatever - if we don’t get the player we want, we need to be professional and dignified and simply move to other targets - as done before and we got Salah.
It’s a game and competition, no need to be bitter towards Chelsea, they want the same player (s) so what ??‍♂️ It happens, we move on.

Hi all,

So is the possession game a tactic of Lijnders and not a Klopp thing?

Am I right in remembering Klopp left Dortmund when they hit a slump after great success with them?

Does anyone think Klopp might leave at the end of the season?

I would prefer him to stay, go back to heavy metal tactics and refresh the team with new blood.
