What’s with the rumour of Jude willing to sit it out at BVB for another 12 months to get the move that suits him?
Thanks.

RedBohs

{Ed002's Note - Sounds like someone is teasing you.}

1.) 20 Apr 2023 07:05:38
He’s not joining. The only way you’ll see him at Anfield next season is it he’s playing for City or United.

With the club going into a huge summer where we will need a manger, director of football, entire new background team, that could even include as far back as nutritionist, strength and conditioning coach, this has now become somewhat of a hardware reset. Times have been great under Jürgen and we’ve all loved every single moment of it. But this is going to decimate the footballing structure of the club - my question is, has the club surrendered too much power to Jürgen? Yes we have a young squad but when a new manager comes in he has all of the above to sort and Trent, VVD and Mo are out of contract 12 months from his 1st day.

RedBohs

1.) 27 Jan 2024 08:25:58
Think you’re getting in a bit deep mate lol.

2.) 27 Jan 2024 08:48:50
Let’s see how deep it is a summer scurrying for staff, trying to renew contracts, get new players, and try to enforce new tactics and a new managers ideas on a team Klopp built.
I’m excited for what the future holds but at the same time very very worried as we have the greatest man currently this club could ever want.

3.) 27 Jan 2024 09:44:26
"But this is going to decimate the footballing structure of the club".

OP, you're overthinking this WAY too much. Let's take it one day at a time and allow the process to play out. The club have known he was leaving since Nov. Pretty sure the wheels have been turning so again, let's enjoy this great man for the next 4 months and go from there.

4.) 27 Jan 2024 09:17:49
I wonder if Klopp will “recommend” his preferred successor?

We’ve had a mare. All we had to do was look after our greatest asset and we ran him into the ground last season.

I thought he’d have walked away at the time and expressed that a lot, but he held on like the warrior he is but it finally got the better of him.

5.) 27 Jan 2024 10:21:56
I think the quality we had a few years ago we needed someone like Klopp to hold the reins. The quality we have now, you could get a new manager, a slightly different system, it is still going to be a great squad. Best goalie in the world, VVD still has a good few years, the new midfield is another level, Jota / Diaz / Nunez can create and score goals in any setup. Trent is world class (I know a lot of us hate this term but I really think he is) . Add to that the youngsters coming through, the structure and infra for youth; it is the most comfortable we could feel about Jurgen leaving throughout his tenure. I struggle to think of a better squad except Real Madrid. Even city I feel at this moment would struggle more without Pep than Liverpool would.

Of course we won’t get another Jurgen - it is not possible. But the quality he is leaving behind is a delight for any manager coming in. Hopefully this also makes this a very exciting job for Alonso or Zidane to come in.

6.) 27 Jan 2024 12:27:53
@redbohs - they've known Klopps leaving since November, they've known the dof is leaving for longer, in fact, it was their decision not to give him a long contract.

I'm sure the plans are already well underway.

Mlg.

7.) 27 Jan 2024 13:51:56
Oli, minor detail but please stop saying OP, lol. It's so annoying!

8.) 27 Jan 2024 14:52:41
Of course, Herr MartyMcfly11, lol.

9.) 27 Jan 2024 15:31:54
OPI totally agree with your post?.

10.) 27 Jan 2024 15:37:27
Why do we have to wait until summer? I’m pretty sure the club management will be assessing and potentially acting way before the summer.

25 Aug 2023 04:00:50
Is it not a coincidence that we play Newcastle and Saudis are linked with Mo and we are being linked with Bruno. Wasn’t it the same when we played them last year too. This just stinks of a ploy to unsettle players going into an important game.

RedBohs

1.) 25 Aug 2023 04:53:24
1 + 1 = 7.

2.) 25 Aug 2023 07:29:23
WDW doesn’t believe in conspiracy theories.

3.) 25 Aug 2023 08:22:52
Was Mo the gunman on the grassy knoll?

4.) 25 Aug 2023 08:25:53
Unsettling an experienced, veteran, world class player and capt of his national side who has accomplished so much in his Liverpool career? Come on, you’re doing too much here and definitely overthinking this, imo.

It is nothing new that the Saudis want Salah. Even my mom knows that so to me, it’s just rehashing of old news and even the club like they previously did already this summer when the same old schtick came out, have come out again saying Mo is not for sale. Neither is he wanting to leave. Relax, man. It ain’t that deep.

5.) 25 Aug 2023 08:29:15
Is that salahs release clause? ?.

6.) 25 Aug 2023 08:50:50
So Oilred you’re telling me this hasn’t made Mo think wow that’s some money I could be making? Unsettling a player doesn’t necessarily mean he’s looking to move but it would assist in causing a number fans articles from journos and the club the un wanted questioning about his future. If you think this hasn’t entered Mo’s head or given it a second thought your deluded.

7.) 25 Aug 2023 09:05:22
Maybe Mo doesn't believe the additions in this summers transfer window are enough to sustain a real title challenge and so he would rather move on for the big day now.

8.) 25 Aug 2023 09:11:53
Was Mo the gunman on the grassy knoll?
Loved that flash. bravo mate.

9.) 25 Aug 2023 09:49:13
If we see Eddie Howe talking to Mo on the touchline and Norbert chatting to Bruno at half time (covering their mouths, of course) then there might be something in it.

10.) 25 Aug 2023 09:57:13
Mo shot JFK to try and steal the Jack Ruby. I thought everyone knew that?

11.) 25 Aug 2023 09:58:46
If Nunez was the gunman on the grassy knoll, he'd have missed.

12.) 25 Aug 2023 10:24:10
@RedBohs in the nicest possible way I don’t think you should be calling anyone else “deluded” after that tin-foil-hat post.

13.) 25 Aug 2023 10:36:37
RedBoh, thanks. You must think Salah reads fan articles and all that mess. That's on you. I don't believe such things. Also, it would be stupid for me or you or anyone to think he is not hearing all the noise and all that but the part you are missing is that he does not hold all the cards. Unless he kicks up a fuss (which I highly doubt) then, we ain't selling, end of story.

Like I responded to the OP, relax. We ain't selling this season and by all accounts, he is not looking to leave. The club just said so for the 3rd time this nonsense came up over the last couple of months. Oh, and anyone who thinks we will just sell Salah cos of the wads of cash being thrown out there (without him forcing the move like Hendo and Fab did) is the one who is deluded. The club does NOT sell players for the sake of it.

14.) 25 Aug 2023 10:42:45
The offer from the Saudis will be their in jan and their again next summer . A Muslim based country after the most famous and probably best Muslim player of the last decade is hardly a shock . He will move to Saudi and be a god their and get paid insane amounts of money but let’s do it on our terms and get the right replacement in for the best player we’ve had since Gerrard . The club need to sort the structure of the club 1st then look at what players are available and would be willing to join before we sell and end up in a similar position that we are in now with the midfield.

18 Apr 2023 05:39:09
Is it just me or does anyone else see TAA playing inverted is hampering Konate, every time he receives the ball he has a difficult pass to his right in trying to find Mo because TAA is hiding behind the pressing attacker. Also with the TAA, Mo is almost starting as a halfback to get the ball. It cost Konate tonight and it shouldn’t be that Trent is that good the entire system changes to get him into the team - JK is giving him free rein to play as he pleases.

RedBohs

1.) 18 Apr 2023 06:21:25
Wow. We won 6-1 away from home, with TAA creating 2 goals and someone still found a way to apportion blame to him for the goal we conceded.

2.) 18 Apr 2023 06:45:53
Jesus we win and it’s still negative, Trent is not hiding he’s being told to do that.

3.) 18 Apr 2023 07:18:03
Didn't see the game but read some reports. Did we play some sort of 3-4-3 thing? A TAA floater?

4.) 18 Apr 2023 07:20:00
Speaking of positioning. When Diaz came on, he played on the right.
I said before the turn of the year he’ll eventually replace Salah out on the right, we had a glimpse of that last night.

5.) 18 Apr 2023 07:28:32
Konate got the ball stuck under his feet that has nothing to do with Trent!

6.) 18 Apr 2023 07:31:55
Not sure it's a super negative post but the point is valid. The system would probably work better if hendo was more mobile like he was 2 season ago. However, there would be much more defensive solidity with a kante type dm who can get across or fill the space konate leaves.

7.) 18 Apr 2023 07:39:40
In the few appearances Diaz has made for us on the right, he has looked ordinary. Worlds apart from how he plays on the left. But it could be down to inexperience in that role. I personally would prefer him on the left, because he has a great shot on him, and the angle is much more suitable cutting in from the left.

8.) 18 Apr 2023 07:52:22
I wouldn't read too much into where Diaz played last night to be honest. He was put on when the game was safe to give him 10 minutes back on the pitch after more than 6 months out. I suspect he will be on the bench for at least our next couple of games as he acclimatises to match pace again.

For me though, I much prefer him on the left where he has caused havoc since he has been with us.

9.) 18 Apr 2023 08:21:48
Konate did struggle at times but needs to improve on the ball. If we play this system so does Salah and he has to work harder to give him an option.

10.) 18 Apr 2023 08:30:02
OP, Konate is just error prone. It had nothing to do with Trent. At 23 years old Konate is very young for a centre back and hopefully he can stay fit for long enough to iron out his weaknesses. Aside from the slip up he was great last night. He's just got to improve his concentration and decision making. Trying to pin anything on Trent (who was sensational by the way) is really poor.

Delvecs, the tactics played out as a 2-2-6 when we had the ball. For the first half an hour Salah was holding the width on the right with Robbo holding it on the left. It wasn't working but suddenly Hendo started holding the width on the right which pushed Salah infield and we ran riot after that. It was basically Virgil and Konate at the back to mop up with Trent and Fabinho screening them as a double pivot (two 6's) . Occasionally Trent and Hendo were switched with Trent out wide and Hendo deeper with Fab, but the clear tactic was to get Trent central as much as possible. Jones, Robbo and Hendo were then given the freedom to go and join the front 3 making it more like a front 6. This not only helped offensively but also gave us more impetus in terms of the press as we had more bodies forward. When we lost the ball, Trent and Robbo were sprinting back to make it a back 4 again and the shape reverted more to a 4-3-3 you'd expect to see. It worked very well but what i would say is Leeds offered absolutely nothing after our third goal. They were all over the place.

11.) 18 Apr 2023 08:17:39
OP, I see your initial point as a whole actually BUT that is the risk of playing that way cos Konate is tasked with manning that whole right side of the defensive side out in space by himself for the most part. He is able to function there cos he played in a back 3 at Leipzig where his pace allows him to defend out wide in space.

As for the goal, chill out bro. You’re making 2 and 2 make 22 here. Konate got the ball stuck under his feet. It happens. Nothing to do with Trent or anything or anyone. Enjoy the win.

12.) 18 Apr 2023 08:35:44
wow, didn't see this one coming. But I can add this one to my previous post that listed a bunch of mistakes that led to goals that had nothing to do with Trent, but he received all the blame for.

Yes, there will be some adapting. And in all seriousness, I don't think playing this kind of hybrid wingback is sustainable for Konate having to cover the flank all the time.

But, no, Konate's mistake was his alone. The position he was in can happen no matter what system is played. He was complacent was a second and it cost him and the team a goal.

13.) 18 Apr 2023 08:48:47
I saw it the other way. Trent wouldn't be able to play that role if it wasn't for someone like Konate being so capable of covering like he did.

14.) 18 Apr 2023 08:49:46
Konate had enough time to play a pass he was just a bit cocky and didn’t expect them to press him so quickly. Nothing to do with Trent.

That being said a better team would’ve exploited the space left by Trent much better than Leeds did. I think it’s a tad too early to claim that this formation is the way forward.

15.) 18 Apr 2023 08:52:59
Haters going to hate. Trent has a game drawing comparisons with De Bruyne and he is still getting dig out? Incredible.

Klopp picked the team and the tactics. We won 6-1 so let’s enjoy it and move on to the next game. 7 more wins would make the end of the season very interesting.

16.) 18 Apr 2023 09:13:50
Honestly, I thought Konate along with Fabinho used Trent's presence as an excuse to not look for forward passes themselves.

For the first 30 minutes, the system was somewhat reminiscent of a late Rodgers era 343 with 4 or 5 players standing right on the opposition backline with little scope to make forward runs. Once we scored, we got it working well. But Leeds were dirt.

tl;dr - It was good, but I'm not sold on it yet. Need to see what happens when it's used against better teams.

17.) 18 Apr 2023 09:21:22
To play like that you need to take risks and sometimes people will make mistakes. But also credit leeds players for forcing it. You can't be perfect in football no matter how hard you try!

I was more impressed how we reacted, small signs of a mentality shift. Last week from 2-0 down and at 2-1 yesterday the game could have gone either way. But we pulled ourselves together and took back control.

Plenty of false dawns this year but hopefully this isn't another.

18.) 18 Apr 2023 09:23:38
I left my wallet on the train this morning. It wouldn't have happened if Trent wasn't playing in such an attacking role, it's all his fault!

19.) 18 Apr 2023 10:49:35
The problem is its more than likely after a few games games of trent playing in this new position we will be found out and start loosing to mid to low position teams.
Either sell him or play him on the right of a 433.

20.) 18 Apr 2023 13:54:32
MKS, Konate is error-prone? Sorry, I disagree. I don't think he is error-prone. He made a mistake and that can happen esp. if the game is coming to you easy as it was vs Leeds. Look at him vs Arsenal where the game was mad and NO mistakes there. I know he needs o improve his concentration levels regardless of the level of oppo. BUT to say he is error prone is a bit much.

As for pinning any mistake we make on Trent, I can understand rival fans and pundits doing that cos hating is their job and if NOBODY hates on you, you're no relevant so I welcome their hate for Trent from them. But the fact that LFC fans are resorting to such shameless and wretched tropes is beyond absolutely pathetic to me and I find that absolutely disgraceful and disgraceful.

21.) 18 Apr 2023 13:55:21
Faithinworks, I saw that post you made when you listed Trent getting blamed for things that had NOTHING to do with him. You can indeed, add this one to it.

Mightyreds - We don’t need projects. We need starters or players capable of pushing 1st teamers like City have with Walker/ Lewis/ Akanje.

Simmo01 thanks for your insight but it’s talking hypothetically fullback v winger in case you failed to notice. Also wingers do tend to switch sides fullbacks don’t.

Liverpoolfc8 I couldn’t agree more. We have stood still in so many positions while others have evolved it’s frightening. We are way behind in midfield and will take some serious effort to hit the ground running in August. But we may well have the same issues next year at CB.

You can’t say Bradley is good enough based on performances in league 1 over 1 season - that’s a bit premature.

So on what you’re saying you’d have no prob pitching Bradley full back next year v Martinelli, Saka, Mitoma, Son, Grealish, Foden, Zaha etc. I’ve seen 3 or 4 games this year involving Bolton but i definitely wouldn’t be taking my chances with RBs of Trent, Bradley and Ramsey.

I think similarly. These aren’t going to be massive game changers or really stand out performers. It also concerns me that we have so much to do in midfield other areas of the field are going to be severely hampered.
There is no talk of an actual right back coming in (I know Ramsey is there but I’d hope he’s not got digestive legs)
We also need a CB possibly 2 Gomez isn’t up to it, Billy Joel (32) and Konate seem to flip flop dependent upon who’s fit (Billy Joel is being linked with a move away) and VVD will be 32 next year so we need to be planning for this not having them all move out are together again.
When I think of the midfielder’s we’re linked with I often think would kids get this players name on their jerseys - e really need top class midfielders.

RedBohs

{Ed001's Note - we don't need a right-back. Why would we? Bradley is more than good enough.}

Agreed they can make mistakes and it does make him human fair enough, but he makes a lot of costly mistakes. I’m not here to argue I’m discussing errors in play and the desire to improve the team but The ball over the top v B’mouth (disallowed goal) is terrible defending blindly goes with his leg with 2 others closing. The goal B’mouth score is terrible (granted he’s in a position tactically forced upon him) but why are they playing the hybrid. it’s to compensate for his inability as a defender. V Man U last year at OT had some brain farts, Napoli away last year, Community Shield. I don’t have an agenda it’s a discussion highlighted by many and exposed by others but as a footballer or any employee in the work place we should learn from our mistakes and I don’t hold him wholly responsible the management and coaching team are also acting this out. Do you not think it needs to improve?

OilRed and Ed there is no agenda.
His defending is terrible, what was the excuse for Bournemouth’s 1st goal. These are basics of defending - my opinion is he’s a terrible defender and the Reece James comparisons are nonsense because he doesn’t play for LFC I don’t care how good he is or isn’t. As for the ref - the ref was wrong but the decision has been made don’t give him another decision to make, make the correct decisions. He’s excellent going forward no doubt about it but he needs to improve defensively if he’s to remain at RB. I also echo what redmersey says about Gomez.

RedBohs

{Ed001's Note - his defending is not terrible though, how many times is he the one reading the ball and clearing it? One on one he is poor but so is every full-back apart from Wan-Bissaka in this modern era. If you want to just see the bad, which you clearly do and you clearly have an agenda, then that is what you will see.

Yes, he has made mistakes, but so does every player. Even Hansen made mistakes - a lot of mistakes in fact. It did not make him a terrible defender, it just made him human.}

Doing good (attacking) in a team that goes forward and dominates games 75% team is great.
It’s basic decision making when the pressure is on, when your back is against the wall or when a team is attacking in waves, or when a player or team is technically good. I remember them both v Ajax and Napoli in the Champions League were awful mistake after mistake. Joe like Trent don’t have the instincts to know or see forthcoming phases of play where there is danger. Look at last wk with TAA the decision to get involved with Claire Balding after being booked is typical of him, then loses concentration for the goal. Gomez isn’t as bad just positionally I feel can be way off it.

RedBohs

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is more nonsense. Being frustrated after a bad decision is something every player does sometimes. You are making up crap about Alexander-Arnold now to suit your agenda. How often has he got involved with an assistant on the sidelines? You are just lying to attack him.}

Me too Davey. It was as important to ensure CB was addressed this summer as CM was last summer.

We instead rely upon VVD and 1 of 3 because neither can either stay fit or play consistently. It’s the lack of foresight on transfers and squad development that I just don’t get with the management team/ club/ committee (if that’s even a thing anymore)
