Hope you're all well lads, don't post often but have been reading for years and would love to get an honest review of our season so far from some of the reds and hopefully some of the Ed's?

YNWA lads

Kenny.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are doing well. Top of the league give or take, and overcoming some questionable purchases in the summer. Be tough to win the league with Manchester City as strong as they are. Need to now be looking to win something and build upon that.}

1.) 23 Nov 2018 03:43:25
On results alone, close to perfect in the league and temperamental in Europe. Tactically, we’ve deployed the high press sparingly in return for some defensive stability, attracting criticism from some, but the league table shows the justification. Shaqiri has surprised many and Alisson has settled in brilliantly. VVD and Gomez players of the season so far for me, with honourable mentions to Milner and Gini. Underperforming you’d only say Lallana really, who unfortunately looks done for at our level. Firmino has suffered from the change in tactics. Trent maybe, but at his age and after his schedule over the last year no one is criticising. Off the pitch, Michael Edwards is apparently the Shankly of the boardroom. **** (Utd) fans are crying daily and Man City fans are looking over their shoulders, so all’s good.

2.) 23 Nov 2018 03:44:34
Like Ed002 said, we're doing well and getting results, despite not playing with the verve of last season. That said, the defence is much better and we seemed to have learned how to shut games out. Only once this season can I remember Klopp bringing on Matip late in a game to give us all palpitations :)
We need more dynamism from the mids though, missing AOC. Shakiri has been a pleasant surprise. Not in his ability, he's always shown that, but in his work ethic and synergy with those around him.
Bobby is still key, but not firing just yet, much the same with Mane. If those 2 kick into gear like we know they can, things can only get better.

3.) 23 Nov 2018 05:00:10
We are doing well at the minute but we still have a number of players that are taking up space in the squad and wages without contributing to our results like Lallana, Matip, Clyne, Moreno, Origi, Markovic etc. I would love to see the club move on these players and replace them with academy players and a one or two top notch signings so that we can see gradual progress in terms of squad depth and quality without paying through the roof season after season.

4.) 23 Nov 2018 07:52:44
I do agree Bobby is suffering. Struggling this season.

5.) 23 Nov 2018 08:05:41
Anxiously waiting for Keita and Fabinho to get up to speed. January games and position in the table will tell all. Don't understand the concern over Firmino. He's the type of player who'll do what the team needs. Once Keita and Fabinho settle (and need less support), I foresee Firmino spending more time up front and back to his previous style of play.

6.) 23 Nov 2018 10:21:21
Spot on ra.

7.) 23 Nov 2018 11:27:34
I think we’re doing better behind the scenes too. I listened to an interview with Peter Moore on Radio City Talk ( local radio station) last month and was really impressed.

I also think Micheal Edwards is doing a great job for the club.

8.) 23 Nov 2018 06:37:36
Who are the questionable buys in your opinion and why ed2?

{Ed002's Note - Returning to Fabinho would be one. The money spent on Keita given his issues could have been better spent elsewhere. The promises made when tapping up and buying Solanke are no moe than embarrassing, Karius backfired on him.}

9.) 24 Nov 2018 13:12:39
I am never in haste to judging players after a few games so I will reserve judgement on Fab and Keita cos after all, they were brilliant players in their previous clubs. Also, it is known that it takes a while for players to get up to speed in a Klopp system. Rapha Honigstien said it took Ilkay Gundogan SIX months to get up to speed with Klopp's system at BVB and we all know what type of player he became after that. We also see what happened with Shaq, Robbo and esp. OX. Karius did not work out as many of us would have hoped but he still did a decent job and kept us in games BUT we clearly needed much better. Solanke? Not going to work out either, IMO.

How are we lads, first time poster, been stalking quietly for a few years now though 😂 thought it was time to join the gang.

So to join the debate. Do we want Fekir, Dybala or someone else?

YNWA.

1.) 06 Jul 2018 22:20:43
Welcome KTR mate!

2.) 06 Jul 2018 22:25:55
Based on our playing style I'd personally prefer Fekir. I think Dybala is the better player but Fekir seems more suited to the premier league. The fact that Fekir is also the harder working player, means he is likely more likely to Liverpool's pressing style.

But its really a tough call, especially when you consider Fekir's injury history and just how talented Dybala is. I really don't see Dybala even being an option, but if it happens instead, great.

3.) 06 Jul 2018 22:26:09
Asensio for me. Keep Karius and put the money towards marcus.

4.) 06 Jul 2018 22:34:15
If possible and he was hungry for the challenge dybala all day think his price tag would be scary though, but if we ain't going all out for a top keeper let's go for a top replacement for coutihno . Be nice too bring in a world class talent.

5.) 06 Jul 2018 22:43:24
Dybala.

Fekir can't lace his boots. Simple as that.

Asensio. Are you joking.

6.) 06 Jul 2018 22:44:21
Fekir personally.

7.) 06 Jul 2018 23:00:58
Isn't dybala a centre forward? Scored a tonne of goals last season? If so I would rather have Firmino. Like I said yesterday, I can't think of a centre forward I would swap him for. definitely no one in the prem. Not benzema, not Suarez and not Costa. Not muller. Not cavani. He does so much for the team. Some players are described as 2 players in 1, but Firmino is 3 players in 1.a tackling ball winner. An attacking mid with superb vision and a proper, strong centre forward with grace and power and goals.

8.) 06 Jul 2018 23:23:56
Thanks for the responses lads!

Myself, I did think Dybala might be a missing piece until I remembered his injuries / possibly attitude.
Fekir seems gone in the wind, so (possibly) an alternative such as Veratti or Draxler?

Opinions welcome fellas.

9.) 06 Jul 2018 23:38:06
Dybala is a centre forward but can operate as a number 10.

Fekir is a number 10 but can play as a striker/ winger

For me Dybala is above Fekir but both quality players and would improve any team.

Veratti i just don't see suiting the prem

Draxler has gone down hill and needs his career saving.

10.) 06 Jul 2018 23:38:09
Dybala would be a dream signing . Would love if we got him but it won't happen. Fekir is realistic and a brilliant footballer .
But in fantasy land dybala all day long.

11.) 06 Jul 2018 23:38:34
Personally, it'd be Pulisic for me.

12.) 07 Jul 2018 00:04:44
Is anyone worried that if Ronaldo ends up at juventus that real Madrid might try and get mane there have been rumours of him going there so the dybala rumours may well be true and getting fekir in too only a thought.

13.) 07 Jul 2018 00:09:56
Am I joking about asensio? No. What do you mean? He's a better player than fekir OR dybala.

Do you mean we would never sign someone for that much? 2 years ago if you told me we would sign a cb for 75mil I would have laughed at you.

14.) 07 Jul 2018 00:45:04
Brandt for me.

15.) 07 Jul 2018 03:39:07
Yes redste. I have thought that myself.

16.) 07 Jul 2018 04:32:01
Between those two I’d go for Dybala as he can play at CF to rest Firmino (or allow us to play him at 10), plus he can play wide to rest the wingers.

Fekir would be a great signing but more of an attacking mid and I think we need the cover for the forwards more urgently with Firmino able to drop deep and Keita joining in midfield already.

17.) 07 Jul 2018 07:36:19
redste I wouldn't worry about that, they can come in for Mane all they want, question is do you see us selling? I don't, it won't happen mate.

PH I agree, the amount of money in football these days nothing would surprise me now. I have noticed you really rate Asensio lol great player, I'd love him at Liverpool but personally I'd put Pulisic before him, he's 3 (i think) years younger and is just as good. I'm starting to feel like Harry with Kovacic now, I always go on about Pulisic but imo he's the next huge thing, shame he's a utd fan!

18.) 07 Jul 2018 08:10:50
I'd just like to say 7 years ago we were linked with signing Charley Adam and Stewart Downing. Now we're linked with Asensio, Fekir and Dybala. I'm just enjoying that.

19.) 07 Jul 2018 10:06:15
LFC8, aside from Fekir, the links to the other two are dubious at best.

20.) 07 Jul 2018 11:32:43
For me it has to be butland and wilshire. These two could really make the difference of us finishing 3rd or 5th - 6th.
