Who is everyones favourite non Liverpool (active) player?

Kante is my number 1, with Cazorla, Iniesta, De Bruyne, Falcao, Vidal and Hummels up there.

1.) 02 Jun 2021 09:22:35
Kante, De Bruyne, Mbappe, ended up watching a lot of french football this year so Jonathan David as well.

2.) 02 Jun 2021 09:26:20
Great question Eamon! I watch hardly any non-English football (don't have the time) so my picks are either superstars or from the EPL.

I've always regretted us not experiencing CR7, and I have such admiration for his dedication to the game, he's like a (slightly! ) more talented James Milner! I wish Moores had splashed the £2-3m we could have had Ronaldo for the season before he joined United for £13m as it would have been great to see him with the Liverbird on his chest for a few seasons. We would have won the league with him in that team, I'm sure of it.

I'm also a big fan of Fernandes, despite his girly rolling around when breathed on!

I think Soucek is a superstar in waiting. I like the mix of no nonsense CDM with the cracking goals he scores.

Although his personality is questionable (! ), I think SUarez is a serial winner. The fact he is still banging them in in his mid-30s speaks volumes. If God hadn't had the injuries he had later in his career, I could see him doing the same. They share that instinct of knowing exactly where the goal is.

I can't get away from how great I think Mr Mbappe is too. To be that strong and yet so quick is incredible. I really hope we see him in the EPL at some point, but only if he's wearing the Liverbird!

3.) 02 Jun 2021 09:29:03
Kante, works so hard and doesn’t make any fuss, seems a really down to earth player. Also doesn’t rely on making cheap fouls and cheating, one of the best tacklers I’ve seen and isn’t ever bullied by more physically imposing opponents. Have to respect Lewandowski, scores for fun, and scores all types of goals. Also got to give respect to Marcus Rashford for being a decent caring human being and using his position and status to better the lives of poor kids.

4.) 02 Jun 2021 09:35:56
N'Golo Kante or Alphonso Davies. Kante is just a really likeable guy, and Davies is the funniest footballer after James Milner.

5.) 02 Jun 2021 09:42:32
Simple Kante.

6.) 02 Jun 2021 09:57:21
Eamonsf, you say active and then name some inactive ones. I think.
For me, active, has to be De Bruyne.
No longer playing, Patrick Viera.
I like midfielders and that's where games are won and lost, mostly.
Not a favourite but Maradona is the best player I've ever seen (not live) .
He could play up front and was strong enough, quick enough and nasty enough to play in midfield.

I like midfielders, did I say?

7.) 02 Jun 2021 10:32:49
Haha Rigsby, they might be playing in Japan and Qatar but they've yet to hang up their boots so technically active. Had to sneak them in.

Some great picks all round, Mbappe is an awful lot of fun, Davies is a great story in general and Soucek is underrated. Will have to check out Jonathan David.

8.) 02 Jun 2021 10:58:13
Phil Foden for me. I know it is disgraceful choosing a City player, but it’s crazy just seeing him glide past people without putting his head down once, and his striking/ passing ability is unreal for someone his age. Pretty sure he will be too 3 players in the world the next few years.

9.) 02 Jun 2021 11:07:07
Not sure I have a favourite as such, I don’t have Neymar posters all over my bedroom ceiling for example.
But I do like watching flair players and goal scorers whenever I’m watching other teams. To be honest I’m seeing Kantes name pop up a lot here, I think he’s an absolutely brilliant player but I just don’t enjoy watching him play, same with defenders really. If I had the choice to watch a YouTube video of VVDs best bits or Messis best bits it would be Messis video I would watch.
So outside of our own team I do like watching Messi, Ronaldo and even Neymar (yes he’s an absolute whopper and a cheat but some of his skills are outrageous) Ronaldinho was the one who’s no longer active though who you could watch all day, the tricks and flicks were ridiculous.

10.) 02 Jun 2021 11:32:07
A fit Veratti, Ndombele on form and Lewandowski.

11.) 02 Jun 2021 11:39:03
Moussa Dembele, Michael Carrick, Michael Essien, Berbatov, Bale and Kante.

12.) 02 Jun 2021 11:55:18
Messi, Iniesta, Dani Alves, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic, David Silva, Mbappe, De Bruyne, Varane and Son.

13.) 02 Jun 2021 11:59:19
David Silva is always a favourite of mine. Seems like a great guy and just brilliant to watch.

I also really respect Cristiano Ronaldo because he best demonstrates when hard work meets talent.

14.) 02 Jun 2021 12:20:58
Kante, Mount, Greenwood, Silva, Iniesta, Jota (not arsed if he’s ours i love his directness), De Bruyne, Veratti, Lewandowski.

15.) 02 Jun 2021 17:38:49
Past players xavi, ineista, Zidane, Ronaldinho and Brazilian ronaldo. present David silva, kante, messi. to think we could've had silva, villa and Alves in the team with alonso, stevie, torres etc. 😕.

16.) 02 Jun 2021 20:23:44
Silva was outstanding at City, Mount has impressed at Chelsea and Lewandowski just isane, 41 goals in the League with just 18 teams.
Former players, Maradonna was absolutely the best, but I’ve Got a favorite in Batistuta who was loyal to Firenze and one of the best 9 in the last decade. And he allmost og mabye almost ended up at Anfield.
Mabye Redondo og Caniggha.

Rarely post these days, but just wanted to say how much I love Trent. My favourite player at the club and its been wonderful to see him play himself into form after a poor start. A future captain in my eyes and a hell of a player.

{Ed0666's Note - hope Southgate reads this
Post

1.) 13 May 2021 23:15:26
Thiago is supposed to be the maestro of that midfield, but TAA controlled it pretty much from beginning to end. Robbo must have been told to stay behind and help out Williams.

2.) 13 May 2021 23:28:07
Can Southgate read?

{Ed0666's Note - no he just looks at the pictures

3.) 13 May 2021 23:37:46
Phillips should be captain.

4.) 14 May 2021 00:00:49
And then colours them in Ed0666😃.

{Ed0666's Note - Come on bazza stop over estimating his intelligence mate

5.) 14 May 2021 00:58:11
Very true mate.

6.) 14 May 2021 07:23:39
I thought Thiago had a very good game last night. Onlyy opinion though.

Been watching a bit more of Bayern this year with the Bundesliga being more competitive than it has in years (Domestically anyway) . Interesting to see Kimmich feature more in the midfield than he has previously at Bayern. He's impressed.

Occurred to me how bizarre it is that two of the worlds best right backs in Kimmich and Trent, might well be better as midfielders. Obviously their "best position" is the one that services the team overall but I just thought it was an odd notion. Not sure if its testament to the quality of the players or a sign of the quality of modern day full backs. Both?

1.) 06 Jan 2020 22:31:42
OP, Kimmich is a DM by formation and by trade, He became a converted RB after Philipp Lahm retired and the other RB's like Rafinha were not getting it done. It was only this season when Bayern signed France RB Benjamin Pavard, did he move back into the DM role where he is even better. Tjhis shows how brilliant, smart and intelligent a footballer Kimmich is.

2.) 06 Jan 2020 22:32:20
i think its just 2 excellent players who have done well when given the chance.

3.) 07 Jan 2020 00:51:59
Yes Trent obviously will make the move but not yet. I think in 2/ 3 seasons once hendos getting on. He’s tailor made for that box to box role. Hopefully neco will be our right back come that time. The futures bright.

4.) 07 Jan 2020 07:41:22
Lerchy, I'm not sure if it is that obvious. He is doing fine at right back and pretty much made the position his own. He might well be more than happy to play out his career at Right back and hopefully become one of the greatest.

5.) 07 Jan 2020 11:10:33
Fair point Irish I’m not sure why I said obviously!

6.) 07 Jan 2020 12:44:41
ed001 why does everybody want to move trent from right back. I don't think he will get as many Assists from midfield and we will have trouble finding a right back as good as him. He suits are team play perfect there. If its not broken.

7.) 07 Jan 2020 15:37:58
Not sure everyone wants him moved there Grino, just fans curious about his potential there. His 'best position' is the one that services the team best, which for now and the foreseeable future is at right back.

Just thought it was perhaps indicative of the role of modern full backs that arguably the two best right backs in the world are being considered (and in Kimmich's case used) as midfielders.

8.) 08 Jan 2020 06:05:00
Worst game I've seen trent play was in midfield that one time in a cup game. Not saying he couldn't play there, he obviously could. Just saying.

Hope the Minamino rumours are true (particularly at the fee being touted) was impressed by him over the two legs. A little more cover for the wings wouldn't be a bad thing.

That said I'd like to see us move for a fullback who can cover both flanks. Though with Milner in the team I guess we have cover for every position.

1.) 12 Dec 2019 14:52:51
I think other than a few positions (I. e forwards and maybe even CB) it’s best to just revisit everything else in the summer and gomez and Milner can cover full back positions as well as some of the youngsters we have. I do think we’re short in some areas in cases of injuries but we’ve done good business in not doing any in the summer and continuing with the progression of the club. In terms of the economics of the club I think we’re in a much healthier position for it, so keep business at a minimum in jan and revisit everything in the summer, where I expect a lot to happen, with maybe 1 or 2 of our big names possibly moving on.

New image uploaded to the
Liverpool Player Sightings page entitled, I don't have a lot of time for Man Utd Fan's, but this was a class gesture. Firmino has been unreal this season.

1.) 14 Sep 2019 21:42:13
Are we sure it's not for Paisley?

2.) 15 Sep 2019 07:47:44
lol love it.

Nailed it 6Times, Pepe, Rodri, Cancelo, Ndombele. all players where I can understand the price tag involved and why our current/ historic rivals went for them. Then There's United splashing out £80 Million on Maguire. Hilarious.

Not even close to an accurate prediction. In your defence Lerchy that’s how the vast majority of confident calls go on this site.

My point was he doesn’t break into our starting 11 unless you’re thinking of replacing mane with him. Not unless we change our formation. While I’d like him, he’s a very expensive rotation option, something that might not be appealing to the player. Again I’ve not heard of any serious interest from Liverpool other then the odd transfer rumour.

Cornet feels far more likely.

Drogie with all due respect, how does he “fit perfectly into our system”? We don’t play with a CAM and he’s hardly going to replace Mane is he?

I’d like a CAM to provide further flexibility, but it’s not our preferred system. If we don’t get him it’s not the end of the world, haven’t heard anything concrete about us being in for him anyway. I’m a fan of his but like the vast majority of us my ‘scouting’ consisted of the odd game and YouTube highlights. Let’s have faith in the actual scouts.

"I have my doubts that he can do it with an ageing squad" I'm a little bit confused at what you're getting at. We don't have a particularly old or ageing squad?

"I'm not saying footballers can't play at 28" that's good considering 26-32 is literally most players peak? Our core is currently hitting their peak and We're perfectly set up to compete for the remainder of Klopp's contract.

If you're worried about the post-Klopp era that might make a little more sense, but even then we're slowly bringing in the next generation in Jota, Jones and Elliot.

Totally agree with Scootinio, for most of the Salah Mane rivalry I've been on Mane's side as Salah seemed more selfish in front of goal. But lately, it's been affecting Mane on and off the pitch, Salah has continually flirted with other clubs but his level has never dropped. Salah isn't going to get the move he wants anyway, better to keep him and bring in Jota.

{Ed0666's Note - salah was a Trojan tonight never stopped running for the cause

I saw a tweet that said "Gini saw all the Portuguese players and thought he was playing for Netherlands" and agreed with it. At least the idea behind it. Think it goes back to you noticing Gini getting the captains armband. He thrives on more responsibility. He's always solid, but he's ever better with that extra motivation.

Would love to see him get another contract, particularly with Thiago's injuries. Great review Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, he was exceptional.}
