Don't know who he is, never heard of him, but you watch that right back Bournemouth got for just over ten million go for about 60 million next season!

If we buy Martinez, he's a £7m RB, so we could get £60m for him next year, you say?

Please tell me we're looking at defensive reinforcements. These rumours are killing me.
I get worrying about Barcola, but I'd rather they spent that on a CDM, or a CB/RB.

Dean, yes we are.
But also, I definitely wouldn't want us not to be buying an attacker and a winger. We've lost Salah, and there are literally doubts over every other attacker we have. Will they stay, will they stay fit, will they fit in?

Liverpool pushing for Mbaye as well from PSG, interest from Leipzig and Leverkusen who are said to have agreed fees. Seems like we have let them do the groundwork on fee and stepped in.

Immense talent.

Looks like Flypelicanfly's theory seems to be spot on. (Letting other teams do the negotiations and then we just match their bids) Letting the player pick where he wants to go.

Mbaye the latest PSG player linked.

Fabrice Hawkins and Ben Jacobs are reporting that we have an interest in Ibrahim Mbaye. PSG open to selling. Leverkusen already in club to club talks. Another hijack?

Alessandro Bastoni to Liverpool might be worth a bet. We know that the clubs are in discussions over the transfer of Curtis Jones, Bastoni is in a similar situation, contractually, and Liverpool need a CB that can make an immediate impact on the team. I say, if we compromise on Jones, we could get a good deal for Bastoni.

{Ed001's Note - not a chance. Read up about him.}

Literally the next post down.

Not anything I’ve heard, but VG’s bombshell has clearly got us all thinking… I’m gonna throw a name out there.

Seemed a few months ago he was all but set to join Barca. We’ve got Leoni and Jacquet long term, but we quite clearly need a short/mid term CB option, especially with the lack of depth and Virg not getting any younger.

We’ve admired him for a while I’m lead to believe… Bastoni?

Left footed, can cover at LB if needed (although we do need a rb), brilliant progressive passer and plenty of experience.

What does everyone think?

Please Google Bastoni.

Also search on here.

He will never play for us.

Quick question. I believe one regular poster has claimed to be a scout in the past. And before the jokes start, I don't mean Cub Scout. Can anyone tell me who he is?

Our Scouts are too busy making Fires in the Woods?

And chasing the Brownies in the Woods?

Love it, Zed, haha.

Nelly, I miss his posts. They were so wacky.

All these so-called transfer gurus need to give it a rest. Diomande was “nailed on” until he suddenly wasn’t in talks with every player under the sun and then a month later! Every week it’s another player who is apparently close, then nothing happens.
People have every right to criticise the way Liverpool operate. You don’t have to blindly believe every link just because the club gets mentioned alongside a player.
The USA tour is over, Monaco is on the 9th and Newcastle is getting very close. Iraola has seen the squad and has already said it’s thin, yet the defence is still a complete mess.
Jacquet has barely played for six months and is clearly being eased back, so I seriously doubt he starts against Newcastle. Leoni isn’t ready, Gomez is injured and Van Dijk is the only established fit centre-back.

Even if Liverpool sign a defender late, Iraola is hardly going to throw him straight into a huge Premier League game with no time to train or build a partnership.
That means we could still be going into Newcastle with Van Dijk alongside a makeshift option, while Ramsay may have to play at right-back if Frimpong is rested or not fully fit.
People won’t like hearing it, but Liverpool are in serious trouble because the squad is so badly unbalanced. On paper, Bournemouth are currently a better team to manage if your only aim is to finish as high as possible. Liverpool have bigger names, but Bournemouth have a more balanced and usable squad right now, and everyone with eyes can see it.

Really makes you wonder why Szoboszlai wanted to sign a new contract or why Barcola is desperate to leave PSG for Liverpool. You know, given we're in serious trouble.

Sounds like another forum might be more your speed PostKlopp?

Don't let the door hit you in the way out.

We pay big money, so can always be in the mix on transfers. When we're competing with other really big clubs for transfers, and if they pay a bit more and offer London, Paris or Madrid, it's difficult.

Someone else on here says two things can be true at the same time. I think we're an attractive club for most potential targets, and for contract renewals for current players who understand what we're all about.

I also think it's true our transfer dealings haven't been great since about 2018/19 when we had a golden period of a couple of years picking up numerous real good or great players.

Just happens that coincided with having the best coach in probably 50 years.

We've had a couple of good individual buys since in Szob and Diaz, but generally our business hasn't been as successful in terms of translating it into consistent quality performances on the pitch.

We've always done good individual business, but moulding a quality team and squad has been where it's fallen down. All parts of the club need to be in sync for that, and it's obvious when your head coach turnover is high, and your directors come and go, that there are problems making it work off the pitch.
