Any news on club planning to offer new contract to firmino? I hear he gets 60 odd. Anyone know when the contract is expiring?
1.) 08 Jan 2018 10:15:36
No idea how true it is, but i read he gets a base salary of £68k a week, plus a £45k bonus per goal.
2.) 08 Jan 2018 10:18:12
I mentioned a few months back he wants to stay longer, not sure what’s happening now.
3.) 08 Jan 2018 10:28:39
Coutinho is a player we did not want to lose. Firmino is a player we cannot afford to lose. Keep this one happy at all costs I say.
4.) 08 Jan 2018 10:37:00
Christ! How must they manage on that pittance?
5.) 08 Jan 2018 10:55:34
My favorite player in the squad, even though I tend to swear in front of the TV when he misses some shots :D.
6.) 08 Jan 2018 11:15:31
Why would anyone ask that on the back of the FA investigation this week following the Derby?!?! I hardly think it’s priority number one right now!
7.) 08 Jan 2018 11:25:06
Its priority no. one right now to make sure your important players are tied down to a long term contract and are happy.
The investigation is just a formality. The real investigation should be how holgate did see red for that push.
8.) 08 Jan 2018 11:55:13
Fair enough PakRed. I can’t believe he wasn’t sent off or even get a yellow either, but subject to the outcome the dust would have to settle first before the thorny issue of a contract is approached.
{Ed002's Note - Firmino is contracted until 2020.}
9.) 08 Jan 2018 12:05:01
But in the end, how good is a long term contract. Both Suarez and Coutinho had been handed new improved and extended contracts multiple times. If a player wants out, he will eventually get on, one way or another. The only difference is that we can ask a higher price. I thinkbthe only way to avoid, or limit these enforcements, is to put in a sanctnificant sanction or fine for the player, if he mistreats his contract in a certain aspecs. But what "worldstar" would sign such deal, properly noone. Sometimes I would like football to have a draft system like in the NBA or NFL. Player prices and buyout clauses should be capped and priced by evaluation.
10.) 08 Jan 2018 12:53:20
I think these long terms contracts mean little regarding the player actually staying with the club, however, they do ensure the club gets top dollar when the player goes.
11.) 08 Jan 2018 13:27:05
Mk I think that was misinterpreted when he let mane score rather than tap it in, as he was due a bonus with his next goal!
12.) 08 Jan 2018 15:40:53
We should offer new terms asap for the player 2020 is not that far away.

Reports linking us with Charlie Taylor of Leeds. Is there any truths to this ed?
I read a little bit on him and he's a left back who can also play left wing. Is on the last year of his contract and has handed over a transfer request.
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool but both West Brom and Middlesbrough have spoken with Leeds about Mr Taylor.}
1.) 26 Aug 2016 16:01:05
LFC are not signing a LB this window. Expect Balo and some of the squad players to move on before end of the window. Perhaps a holding midfielder/ deep lying midfielder is the only possibility of anything coming in.
Regards.
2.) 28 Aug 2016 02:43:55
I hear that Lucas leiva is a great holding mid. Should be pretty cheap too.

Eds just read on metro that liverpool have lodged a 31.2 million bid for higuain? it doesn't say 'interested in' it says bid lodged, any truth to this?
{Ed002's Note - They are teasing you. No offer has been made. Liverpool might well be one of the interested clubs if he is made available for sale.}

From what I understand we would need an attacker who is there during Afcon when Salah is away.
Plus there is a widely reported attitude problem, which is why napoli loaned him rather than playing him and no one is coming forward to buy him.
12 Dec 2019 10:49:23
Probably loaned back to Salzburg for the rest of the season.
21 Oct 2018 13:07:50
Maybe against the smaller more stubborn teams we need to play shaqiri in stead of third misfielder.
We will click, there were moments in the past 2 and a half season with klopp where we would not click as an attacking team and lost or drew games. I think we were 9th after that second int break last season.
This season the defense is supporting when we aren't scoring 3-4 goals. The goals will come im not worried.
09 Apr 2018 07:25:05
Xabi its probably best to judge him once he has a consistent run of games under his belt. I think he can be good for us if he gets game time.
The real question is who do you prefer is the squad striker, origi or Ings? its looking like wolfsburg will not retain his services next season.

We need to get ideally a CB a GK and CDM this summer. Worst case we need to get a CB and CDM.

Isak would be the long term replacement for Salah. He will hit his prime in a couple of years when Salah's starts to evade him.
If newcastle don't make the champions league then I think he will want to leave the club and even if they ask for 100 million it could be worth it down the line.
I know we sell Diaz but I don't think we should sell Jota.
