Carvalho is a decent bargaining chip for any deals with Portuguese sides, surely. He would do well to go there and play every week?

RushysBugle

1.) 19 May 2023 15:13:09
when was the last time anyone did these player exchanges. can't remember one. Maybe happens in Italy but can't even remember one there. clubs generally don't operate this, where I will give you a bag of oranges for a bag of apples and some money.

2.) 19 May 2023 16:05:44
Cant see him leaving the Premier League to go to Portugal to do us a favour. Would any of you?

3.) 19 May 2023 18:20:15
He's been refusing call ups from the Portuguese junior national teams, so I hardly think that Portugal is on his mind. I think his mind is made up as to where he wants to be and where his future lines up.

4.) 19 May 2023 19:06:11
Carvalho already turned his back on Portugal when he told the Federation that he would look to play for England so not sure what favors he would be doing by going back there.

5.) 19 May 2023 22:24:44
Rumours are he’s not been good in training. But Many thought he was our future winning Centre Forward. No future at Liverpool unfortunately.

6.) 19 May 2023 23:19:59
He’s 20 and we’ve signed three established (full international) forwards in the last three windows. In my opinion, Carvalho will need to show the coaching staff that he is improving in the coming pre-season but, If he can, then he might very well have a future with us.

7.) 20 May 2023 01:13:37
as long as we continue to operate the way we allegedly do in the transfer market, then it seems unlikely we'll have many mates out there willing to do deals like this for mutual benefit.

8.) 20 May 2023 02:00:17
When was the last time Liverpool either took a player from another club or used one of our players as part exchange in a transfer? I really can’t think of one and was wondering if we’ve ever actually done it?

9.) 20 May 2023 07:28:39
Back in 2004, Antonio Núñez was used as a part exchange, when Michael Owen moved to Real Madrid but that's the only one that I can recall. He didn't stay very long but still managed to pick up a Champions League medal, so memorable and worthwhile for him, at least.

10.) 20 May 2023 08:32:32
Writing a very talented young player off based on rumours about how he trains.
Quality stuff.

11.) 20 May 2023 09:31:23
@Kloppite, cracking recall mate - I’d forgotten all about Nunez ?.

12.) 20 May 2023 10:29:59
All up to the player Flash. Just opinions and Klopp for whatever reason doesn’t fancy the kid atm.

13.) 20 May 2023 11:24:34
Basing an opinion on a rumour to write a 20 year old off and roping Klopp in as ‘proof’. The ‘for whatever reason’ actually means nothing.

19 May 2023 13:54:31
I hope Pitaluga is promoted into the 3 or loaned out to a higher level than last time. It's too soon for him to be sold off.

RushysBugle

1.) 19 May 2023 18:22:30
If Kelleher is moved on then I don't think Pitaluga is going anywhere. He and Harvey Davies are next in the queue for starting positions after Adrian (if he's kept) .

2.) 20 May 2023 07:25:50
Why ‘after Adrian’? Pitaluga should be second choice if Kelleher goes. Adrian is third.

19 May 2023 13:42:28
Why is Gvardiol not happening?

RushysBugle

1.) 19 May 2023 14:10:56
We’re not interested, per ED02.

2.) 19 May 2023 14:24:09
Probably because he will cost north of 90 million and we ain't reaching them levels.

3.) 19 May 2023 15:10:24
Apparently we are not interested and have made no contact - big price tag in around the 90m mark but very highly rated and would instantly improve us as well as being the long term replacement for VVD

Short-term, any 2 of him, VVD and Konate would be a strong pairing - honestly looks like a great option

We liked Ignacio (spelling) but Klopp did his thing and the club do not like us - think with us though it will ultimately come down to just how much we are willing to spend

If we look at say 70m for MacAllister and 90m for Gvardiol - just picked those 2 as an example of players in positions we need to strengthen - that is a 160m outlay. Will FSG sanction that? Do we need more on top of that? Is it likely we will sell anyone to raise funds to help with this transfer activity in the summer?

4.) 19 May 2023 15:14:40
Exactly, Hailstones.

5.) 19 May 2023 18:25:01
Maybe I'm wrong, but I also read that Gvardiol was not moving anywhere this summer. So if that's accurate then doesn't matter what the price is. It matters what the price will be next summer.

{Ed002's Note - Right, there is no price and he is not moving this summer. Efforts are being made by one of the interested clubs to secure agreement for next summer. None of this involves Liverpool.}

6.) 19 May 2023 18:38:23
I genuinely believe the club will pay what they believe they think a player is worth to US hence if they think that player has us boxed in a certain position for 5 years or more and still hold value then they might pay them sort of sums . Doesn’t always guarantee a player will be good having a big price tag though.

7.) 19 May 2023 19:24:50
All of the Gvardiol stuff stems directly from the reports that said he was a Liverpool fan from an early age and that he’d like to play for us one day. Nobody, least of all Liverpool, has said anything about him actually transferring to us.

18 May 2023 21:15:38
Any word on Alex Scott. After the Doak signing, I'm keen to see more young players that can come in and can get some minutes in their first season. Doak for 600k looks a steal.

RushysBugle

1.) 19 May 2023 08:31:53
She’s nearly 40 and I don’t think she would be allowed to play anyway.

{Ed025's Note - love it Thomas..

2.) 19 May 2023 08:48:04
The team would certainly have some eye candy though haha.

3.) 19 May 2023 12:27:34
She can play with me anytime Thomas.

16 May 2023 10:50:17
Any news on the lad from Wolves that we are signing? 800k for a 14 year old. he must be good.
Harvey Owen from Wolves.

RushysBugle

1.) 16 May 2023 11:54:48
Ridiculous and indicative of where the game has gone. 5% chance he makes it.

95% chance he doesn't get much personal coaching alongside all the other academy players we're speculatively stockpiling, spends his late teens farmed out on loan at random clubs before being flipped for a small profit and disappearing off the face of the earth by 21.

Big clubs are all guilty of it. They sign these young players in bulk for a collective profit. Children aren't assets, sneaky agents are far too involved from a young age and no doubt parents see the dollar signs. More regulation needed urgently.

2.) 16 May 2023 12:23:16
800K for a 14 year old? My goodness.

3.) 16 May 2023 12:54:03
its a lot of money but I bet none if you moaned what we paid for Elliot when he was 16. well the fee we ended up agreeing in a tribunal would of been a lot more then that.

4.) 16 May 2023 13:02:16
We actually sign a lot less players than the other big clubs Thomas, club made a deliberate attempt at quality over quantity a few years back so not much stockpiling going on. Certainly nothing like the likes of Chelsea antway.

5.) 16 May 2023 13:20:47
Paid similar money for Jordan Ibe if I’m not mistaken. Give the lad a chance though! Could be the next xavi, or even better, the next Curtis jones!

6.) 16 May 2023 13:35:11
Lads for that kind of money I could sell my 2 and come out with a tidyvprofit.

7.) 16 May 2023 14:38:34
Didn't we spend up to £2m on a 14 year old Sheyi Ojo back in 2011? Don't think it's a sign of the times.

8.) 16 May 2023 14:56:39
BR if that is true regarding Sheyi Ojo then, it is what it is.

9.) 16 May 2023 15:37:43
Emika obi was bought for millions at 15 and went nowhere it happens all the time with all clubs.

10.) 17 May 2023 01:59:59
We paid £450k (rising to £2m) for a 15-year old Sterling way back in 2010 as well.

11.) 17 May 2023 04:00:14
We signed Ibe from Wycombe in December 2011 when he turned 16 for €600k and we sold him to Bournemouth four and a half years later for €18m.

We signed Ojo from MK Dons in November 2011 as a 14 year old and he left on a free to Cardiff in 2022.

Perhaps the £800k will be nearer to £30m in 4 or 5 years time - maybe more with inflation? Or perhaps having loaned him out for ten years we will release him for free. “You pays your money, you takes your chances”:as they say.

I thought that Mende's and his chronies were in the middle of moves like that of Ugarte, which one would think would make the connection smoother.
How can it be that with good bonds with an agent, this kind of upset can happen?

And does Fab C count as a bargaining chip with some Portuguese sides? He could do well to move there and build himself up.

Brighton can forget any sweet deals from us. CK has to be worth more than the 20m quoted. He home grown and proven to a certain extent. Surely closer to 30m, If Lavia is worth 40m?

Your mission Jörg, should you chose to accept, is to sign £250m worth of players with a £50m budget.

Jörg Schmadtke is actually in talks with Liverpool first about a post as "external consultant for transfers" for temporary support.

Why would Pitaluga go to AM to be in the reserves, instead of being here?
Also Ed's, any chance that Qweem could be used as a bargaining chip with Brighton as they seem keen on him.

RushysBugle

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool do not offer a route to the first team. I don't know who Qweem is and Liverpool are not in discussions with Brighton.}

Id argue that Matip, Gomez, Williams and Nat should all be sold and be replaced by 1 LCB that can play LB, another top class CB and two of the best from the academy.
Bearing in mind that investment is surely coming in/ going to be announced as soon as this window's business is done. another clever FSG move to stop prices getting even more insane.

10 plus minutes of Si Senor was magic.
There’s something that the Kop wants you to know.

The only time I've heard anything go on longer than that was when the Blues booed for 90 mins.

Davey Sulls, At first I thought it was Blah Blah land. Now i've turned from doubter to believer.
Some Chelsea players are playing for their futures under Poch, because of the cull that is required there so they will be up for it.
Obviously we'd all LOVE IT if it was UTD that got pipped at the post, but it is more likely to be Newcastle.
The champs league is not the same without Jurgen's reds in there. Even when on average form we steam roll the group stage.

If LFC are primarily going for UK based players, to avoid the dangers of not settling, who are the realistic targets beyond Mac Allister? Surely Mount signs a new contract when Poch comes in and convinces him to stay.
Caicedo is too pricy and potentially a pain in the ass.

Ed's say Lavia is a no go, Ugarte is a risk and not uK based, although looks special and has a release clause. Rice is too much and looks to be going to AFC or CFC.
