Liverpool made very few changes last year but they are planning big moves this summer with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz the top targets while Ben White is also on the radar. Andy Lonergan, Ovie Ejaria, Nat Phillips, Pedro Chirvella, Nathaniel Clyne, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana are certain to leave. The clubs finances have been handled immaculately over the last few years and it looks like that could continue, Michael Edwards believes they can generate decent revenue from the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi, Loris Karius, Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson and Taiwo Awoniyi. Liverpool know they need more top quality to compete in all competitions and with the AFCON on they know its essential to get cover for Mane/ Salah.

1.) 16 Mar 2020 07:38:48
I'd have thought we should cash in on Salah if he's so keen on going elsewhere?

Sorry, not meant to be flippant or inflammatory, but I'd hope it's something that can be managed a bit better than, say, Coutinho's exit. I guess we did well out of that particular case financially but it wasn't pleasant at the time.

19 Feb 2018 00:01:07
Liverpool are all change at the minute, two record breaking deals in January saw the club lose arguably their best player in Phillipe Coutinho while they concluded the long awaited deal for Virgil Van Dijk.

The start of the summer will see Naby Keita join the Liverpool midfield while Emre Can who has become an integral part of the squad will leave on a free transfer to join Juventus. Thomas Lemar looked like the main target to replace Coutinho but for whatever reason Liverpool seem to have gone cold on him and are targeting another French international instead, Nabil Fekir is the man Klopp wants.

Liverpool were also interested in making a move for the Roma goalkeeper Allison this summer but after preliminary discussions they have decided to look elsewhere and are now pursuing a deal for Jack Butland, who they hope will replace Simon Mignolet.

Dejan Lovren will be moved on if Liverpool can seal a deal for Stefan de Vrij, who is available on the cheap this summer. Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge will be sold this summer with Klopp targeting Timo Werner to play back up to Roberto Firmino.

1.) 19 Feb 2018 02:27:07
Are you been daft or serious? if the latter please stop reading the newspapers mate.

2.) 19 Feb 2018 02:34:24
I find a lot of this hard to believe. How will Fekir fit into the team? He plays a CF or RW ordinarily. Will he replace Mane or dip into the midfield where he's less effective? He's playing regular first team football for his boyhood club at the moment, so why would he risk benchwarming? I think the lad is quality, don't get me wrong, but I think he'd only leave for guaranteed first team footie.

Same goes for Timo Werner, he's the first-choice striker in a Champions League Bundesliga team, he's on a decent pay packet, etc. Why would he move to play second fiddle to Firmino, who is consistently the first name on the teamsheet?

I don't know why we'd move for Butland and not Allison, though. If we're going to buy a 'keeper to challenge Karius, we may as well get Allison to push Karius harder.

Can and Studge are as good as gone and I wish them all the best. I think Emre will be an absolute beast in Serie A.

{Ed0333's Note - why wouldn’t Fekir move to Liverpool? We’d probably double his salary, he may want to extend himself professionally, he may want to play for a world class coach with a team that’s going places and Mane, Firmino or Salah could get injured and would you be confident with Solanke replacing one of those three or Fekir?

3.) 19 Feb 2018 05:38:05
Lovren's not going anywhere for a while. People should accept that. And De Vrij won't happen which Ed002 has been repeating for a while.

4.) 19 Feb 2018 07:16:03
Fekir is a logical choice but Werner why would he move to us? There is plenty of interest from other big clubs around Europe where he will be a starter. I would love to see him play for us in a system where he is up front with Mane, Firmino and Salah behind him or both Werner and Firmino up front and Mane with Salah on the wings but i don't think Klopp will change the system. Now about Lemar i have the feeling we might not chase him because Klopp is looking to play Ox there and we will bring in a defensive midfielder along with Keita.

5.) 19 Feb 2018 08:33:17
I think we'll go back in for lemar regardless of sources saying this, that and the other. I don't even read the rags because they change daily. Anyone who's aware of this site probably shouldn't either.

6.) 19 Feb 2018 10:43:55
Nailed it Ed0333. Like you I too am worried with the lack of quality of our bench. There is no one who is as good as the current front three when one gets injured. This is where City is ahead of all other Pl Clubs. They could afford to rest a few first team without altering or impacting the quality and performance.

7.) 19 Feb 2018 10:51:25
Maybe players like Fekir and Werner would move to us because they back their ability to earn a place in the starting line up? Because they know if Klopp was going to out and spend 50 odd million (figure plucked out of the air as an example), he'll probably have a plan to use them a lot rather than keep them on the bench? Because they know they have what it takes to become a player vital to how we play every match?

What a player does at any single point in their career is almost always less than what they are capable of doing. If Klopp wants them, there is a reason.

8.) 19 Feb 2018 14:55:45
That's a fair point, Ed. At the same time, though, what's to stop another potential suitor - who will most certainly be a big club, big coach, etc. - from popping in with all the guarantees we have, but also the promise of regular football? However, City have been buying quality all over the pitch without promises of first team football, so it's certainly possible.

Obviously I'd prefer Fekir over Solanke, but this wasn't my argument. Fekir is top quality, I'd go mental if we signed him.

I think it's fair to say though that Klopp is doing such a great job, I haven't seen supporters this buzzing about the club for a while.

15 Apr 2017 13:01:44
I know these players have been linked for months but I've heard from a very reliable source that Virgil Van Dijk, Naby Keita and Ryan Sessengon are targets. Source also said Klopp will not look to sign a new goalkeeper this summer which is disappointing.

1.) 15 Apr 2017 16:58:25
Would sooner look at getting Ake from Chelsea though I doubt they would let him go, Keane from Burnley or the lad from Boro Gibson (? ) than Van Dijk, better long term prospects and cheaper.

2.) 15 Apr 2017 22:46:17
If Keane or Gibson doesn't start well at LFC, they won't be here long enough to be long term prospects. Besides, we have always gone more often than not with the "cheaper" option and that really has not helped us at all. Get VVD and we have a player who we will not make an excuse for.

{Ed025's Note - he will cost between £50-60m AG and liverpool are not in a position to pay that sort of money mate im afraid..

3.) 17 Apr 2017 05:08:35
Sturridge, Sakho that's a easy £45mill-£50mill in the bank towards VVD. P. S looking forward to seeing a everton without RL.

4.) 17 Apr 2017 10:36:07
Sakho will have to go for a lot to get to £50m. Who is going to pay big money for Sturridge with his injury problems and high wages? I know Palace fans love Sakho but they haven't got the money to make up that total to big money. May be a case of see who signs VVD and pick up on anyone leaving them because of it?

{Ed001's Note - Palace have plenty of money to spend under their new owners.}

18 Jul 2016 15:20:40
Ante Coric has today started following Klopp, Firmino and Liverpool on Instagram. Could he be one of the imminent three?

1.) 18 Jul 2016 15:39:33
Oh please god.

Please. What a player he could become.

2.) 18 Jul 2016 15:39:55
Oh and his instagram tag is corinho. We know who he loves.

3.) 18 Jul 2016 15:49:37
Scratch that he's also following justin beiber. Hope it falls through haha

Come on liverpool pull this one off. This is the lad rhat broke bayerns scoring system for grading academy players, the only player to acore full on all.

Just a question though, what imminent 3?

4.) 18 Jul 2016 18:04:47
He's more what we need than wijnaldum. More of a midfield player rather than another forward.

5.) 18 Jul 2016 18:54:55
Paulo what is this scoring system Bayern have? I'm very naive and never heard of it - how does it work? Any links would be great - I typed in some stuff on google but just got links about their academy in general.

6.) 18 Jul 2016 20:34:17
At risk of sounding totally naive, but this kid turns absolutely incredible on football manager. They have been known to successfully predict good players. Have never watched him properly buy I'm hoping Klopp can pull this off!

7.) 18 Jul 2016 20:47:29
seano it was reported in croatian media that ante had perfect score in all categories of trial for midfield player and no player ever achieved that. He is wonderfull guy and talent that excites you with every touch. would easily get 20 games in first season with his quality if he adapts quickly on life in England but with lovren, grujic, buvac and markovic all speaking similar languages that should be no problem. i would describe him as mixture of iniesta and david silva (not on that level lol) but has everything to be there (interest of barcelona, guardiola, bayern speaks for itself) If we promise him gametime we will be ahead of everyone.

17 Jul 2016 14:58:51
I heard from a reliable source this morning that Klopp plans to keep Ilori. Not sure why as he has never looked up to standard and not sure if this will have any affect on our rumoured search for a centre half just passing on the info.

1.) 17 Jul 2016 16:50:57
I'm glad if he is staying.

2.) 17 Jul 2016 17:13:44
If sakho and Gomez are injured, it makes sense to keep him rather than bringing in someone else.

{Ed002's Note - It makes zero sense given Ilori will be missing from much of pre-season and the start of the season. Maybe Caulker could come on loan to cover for Ilori whilst he is not available.}

3.) 17 Jul 2016 18:39:11
It makes more sense to move ilori on to keep from ruining his career further and keep wisdom if we need the cover. If Gomez and sahko injuries aren't that serious then wisdom should move on as well to restart his career.

4.) 17 Jul 2016 20:15:16
Sounds like a bad guess.

As Ed002 says, Ilori is going to the olympics so he will be missing during the time that we need cover. By the time he gets back, Sakho and/ or Gomez are both likely to be recovered, so why keep paying his wages if he then drops to 5th or 6th in the pecking order for 2 places?!

Much more sense to keep Wisdom who will be available whilst others aren't, or indeed move them both on and look to Matip/ Lovren starting with Lucas and Brewitt as cover until Gomez and Sakho are recovered. At best we're going to have around 50 competitive games this season, so why keep a bloated squad?

5.) 17 Jul 2016 20:54:55
Ed002, can't see caulker coming in as we're we covered for centre forwards😂😂😂😘😂.

6.) 17 Jul 2016 20:54:55
Ed002, can't see caulker coming in as we're we covered for centre forwards😂😂😂😘😂.

7.) 17 Jul 2016 23:24:52
Ilori is the messiah.

8.) 17 Jul 2016 22:54:59
Awkward situation. I'd prefer we didn't splash the cash on a new cb. Let the youngsters have a chance.

9.) 18 Jul 2016 00:37:35
Donal365. You say a reliable source. If only I believed you had one. I fear you're throwing something out there to get comments.

10.) 18 Jul 2016 12:51:46
Why assume that keeping him for the time being is to play him? If he is going to the Olympics, as we saw with Joe Allen at Euros, it could raise his value. Why sell cheap now when worst case likely is his value stays as is and best case we can squeeze and extra million or two out of the deal. In terms of buying or loaning a short term replacement, why do that when we have guys already inside the camp who are nearer being up to speed with what Klopp wants than someone from outside. If it is for 4th choice then let's just keep what we have for now.

Timo Werner is this summers top target while Klopp is also interested in Kai Havertz but his move would depend on a number of players moving on. Lallana, Clyne, Karius, Shaqiri and Lovren are certain to leave while Origi will also be for sale when/ if Werner joins. Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic could also be sold delending on pre-season.

1.) 05 Mar 2020 10:51:00
And you know all of this from where mate? Interested to know if this is your opinion or paper talk?

2.) 05 Mar 2020 11:15:02
We bought Origis replacement in January . You listed a bunch of not even bench warmers to sell so we can buy a first teamer? We don't need the money? Klopps problem everyone wants a guaranteed start in the team and he can only field 11.

3.) 05 Mar 2020 18:31:15
OP, Ed02 said once I think that we should forget about Havertz. We zre indeed interested in Norwich's Cantwell as a Lallana replacement as well as Timo of course. Pls, if you have news or reliable sources then share with us. Peace.

4.) 06 Mar 2020 01:15:34
I'm all for werner, but cantwell hasn't done enough to prove to me he is good enough for the planets best team. I do like him mind. Not sure he's good enough. It seems like because he is a bit lightweight (like lallana) that he is touted as a replacement.

19 May 2019 08:56:08
Liverpool are saying it will be a quiet summer but I'm guessing its tactical to avoid paying over inflated fees. City will improve and you can't sit still at the top. The finances of the club look excellent going into the summer after two consecutive runs to Champions league finals. The club also plan on raising over £100m this summer with fringe player sales. Dominic Solanke joined Bournemouth for £19m in January while Danny Ings will complete his £20m move to Southampton this summer after a season long loan. Liverpool will also be saving a lot in wages department by letting the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno leave on free transfers. Nathaniel Clyne, Simon Mignolet, Rafael Camacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Sheyi Ojo, Marko Grujic, and Ryan Kent are all for sale at the right price, the latter two have an outside chance of staying if they can really impress Klopp pre-season. Liverpool could also move on the likes of Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana or even Xherdan Shaqiri depending on incomings. Not too long ago Divock Origi looked certain to be sold this summer but after some big performances Klopp has decided to offer him a new contract. Liverpool do not need much but a creative attacking midfielder who can cover the front 3 looks essential, City have 3-4 of those type players and if Liverpool get one in it could make all the difference. Cover at left back would be next on the list.

1.) 19 May 2019 09:19:01
You have said migs is off, but said we are only buying an AM and LB?
If Lovren leaves we also need a CB.
We also need a RB.

So probably more incoming that you suggest.

2.) 19 May 2019 12:21:46
Problem is w/ Origi singing and Brewster promised game time makes very difficult bringing any attacking player tho.

Again we're well stocked w/ midfielders and CB unless couple of midfielders leave and at least one CB leaves.

only fullbacks area is needed to be honest and that too milner if he stays can cover there w/ some youngsters getting chance there tho

don't forget we've achieved 97 points in the league and in couple of weeks will be playing a European final, that's how good this squad has done. Very little to improve there tho money has nothing to do w/ it. I'm just happy for the owners and our club getting financially strong where if needed we can dine w/ big boys 😊.

3.) 19 May 2019 12:53:07
I think Origi should be moved on now we will never get as much for him as we will now. Brewster coming up into the first team squad I think we need to add a wide player with pace to rotate with Mane and Salah. As for the fullbacks with Milner staying for another year, We should give Adam Lewis a chance in pre season before we jump in for a left back not sure about right back I would rather keep Gomez away from there and stick to CB so would like a right back. Do think Lallana should be moved on but with OX back not sure how much we will miss him from the squad. But an attacking Midfielder would be nice to add a new dimension to are midfield. again a new Cb would be nice if we could move Lovren on as would be the last transfer window we would get decent money back for him to and as with Lallana to many injuries even with missing 3 months of the season Gomez played more games than them 2.

4.) 19 May 2019 14:55:54
Good post. I don’t get involved with transfer fees, prefer to leave that to Ed2. In terms of people being sold, I am in agreement. Left back cover is needed, my personal choice is Ryan Sessegnon who can provide cover for Mane as well but whether he is attainable is another matter.

Attacking midfield who can provide cover for the front three is a no brainier for me in the mould of Julian Brandt. I was adamant we needed a right back but bit in the middle now as I feel we need a centre half, which might be a controversial decision due to how our defence performed. Van Dyke was fit all season, if he gets an injury and Gomez does then, well we are up s**ts creek. Gomez can provide cover for Arnold and it would allow both to have game time if a top centre back comes in. Also it would allow us in games that call for it to play three at the back.

5.) 19 May 2019 15:10:06
OP, what Klopp said was that he does not see us making top (meaning expensive) signings this summer which means, he is trying to improve the quality of the squad hence why, he is looking for equal options at both FB positions, a no. 2 GK, a CB should Lovs leave, another midfielder if possible esp. if Milner and Lallana leave, and a forward who can play any of the front three positions (like a Brandt, Werner or recently linked, Depay) .

How much all these options will cost, I have no idea BUT to those pumping up Brewster, I suggest you pipe down and allow the kid to grow cos tho he is talented, he is unproven at this level, coming back from a dreadful injury and will need time learn the position. Origi can play out wide and in the CF position so he can fill in until Brewster learns the ropes cos CF is the most difficult position to play as a youngster.

I am saying this now to avoid people slating Brewster if he struggles initial (cos he will) just like they did Origi and almost ran him out of town cos they were not patient with him.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree on brewster red wolf..

6.) 19 May 2019 17:17:37
Well said Redwolf.

05 Jun 2017 17:56:35
Looks like we've got Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk. Absolutely delighted, long time since Liverpool have rivalled the likes of City and Chelsea for a big transfer target and come out on top, Van Dijk is a huge signing. Ryan Sessengon looks like he's staying in London unfortunately but still what a great start to the transfer market for the Reds.

1.) 05 Jun 2017 18:35:39
Bring on the bloody competent right and left fullbacks now!

2.) 05 Jun 2017 18:34:19
Did i miss something or is this post for real? Has the window opened as yet and with the crazy money clubs are willing to spend I'm not so sure the deals have gone thru as yet but remain hopeful brah. Other clubs will look to pick off the targets we have and will offer lots more in wages so just keep calm till you are sure.

01 May 2017 23:28:49
Great weekend for Liverpool, champions league football this year in particular will be crucial to our future over the next 5 years in my opinion. Virgil Van Dijk, Julian Brandt and Naby Keita are interested in moving to Anfield but champions league football is crucial in getting them here. If we manage to lose it from here it will be shocking and then we'd be going after second and third targets, playing Thursday, Sunday in the Europa and we'd be struggling to make top 4 again next year. The guys above that Klopp has picked could turn us into genuine title contenders, just wanna lock down that spot now and look forward to next season.

1.) 02 May 2017 00:09:24
Fingers crossed Donal, but I can't see us getting any of the three players you have mentioned, they will all go to the top top clubs .

2.) 02 May 2017 00:27:04
Redforever we are a topside how far have the fan base has drop .

3.) 02 May 2017 01:32:50
Hasn't ED02 repeatedly stated there's no interest in VVD? Or has that changed?

14 Jan 2017 14:26:29
Liverpool look unlikely to sign anyone this January but they will look to sign Sead Kolasinic on a pre contract agreement. Christian Pulisic was Liverpools top January target but Dortmund have told them there is no chance they will sell this month, Klopp has his heart set on the Dortmund youngster and will go after him this summer. Any updates on Sakho ed? I know we want at least £20m for him and Sevilla are not willing to pay anymore than £15m, heard Southampton are interested with Fonte looking to leave but not sure if there's any truth in it

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts.}

1.) 14 Jan 2017 15:09:48
Sead Kolasinic will sign a pre contract with Juventus.

2.) 14 Jan 2017 20:49:58
Ed01 has said that they are looking to give the ex-Barca youngster Juanma chances at LB as the coaches at the U23 setup, think he`s the real deal.

There's no chance Klopp will get rid of Lallana, Milner or Clyne this summer. Also we aren't looking at Handanovic or Casillas at the moment. Everyone knows Alisson is the top target with Jack Butland an secondary option if we fail in our pursuit of him. Football fans have very short memories, Lallana was probably our best player last season, he set the tone for the press most games and Milner has been fantastic for us plus can cover so many positions why get rid? RB is one of the last places we need to strengthen, sure Clyne was injured most of the year but again he's still one of the best RB's in the PL, Gomez and TAA as back ups is perfect.

Subotic wants a guarantee of first team football which he won't get, he said he doesn't want to be paid to sit on the bench so I can't see this happening. It's paper talk 2+2.

Jordan Ibe has "potential" but Dembele is more than potential as he's already delivering. Ibe for example has the potential to be a very good player but Dembele already is, he has the potential to be truly world class. He has 12 goals and 5 assists in Ligue 1 this year, won young player of the year last week and has one of the highest whoscored ratings of any players in France. If your good enough your old enough is a saying that comes to mind. Leicester and Dortmund have been heralded for there scouting over recent years and they are two of the front runners for Dembele, that should tell us that the lads probably a good player. Dembele ruled Leicester out today, saying he was on the phone with Ranieri already, rumours are rife he was on the phone with Klopp as well. £27.5m is a lot of money for an 18 year old but it's a lot less then United payed for Martial, he turned out alright and wasn't as highly rated as this kid. Liverpool need good pacey wingers who can contribute goals to the team and Dembele fits the mould.

{Ed002's Note - The discussion with Ranieri was not that recent and he had permission to talk with the player.}

I think Werner would more likely be cover for Mane/ Salah with his pace and finishing, Minamino looks like he will be Firmino’s cover once he settles.
