Seeing conflicting reports this morning, James Pearce has said we are not targeting another 6 after the signing of Endo while other reports are saying we are advancing in negotiations with Palace for Doucoure. Surely the Pearce report has to be nonsense! One injury to Endo and we’re then relying on Bajcetic, a teenager coming back from a serious injury or shoehorning Macallister into the 6 position!

I think what will be really telling is the Palace game tonight. If Doucoure is left out of the squad or even on the bench, that should be an indication of how far along discussions are.

This can’t be right. Ed002 has told us our intentions and that we are still looking at another 1 or 2 in the door. I’m not so sure Doucoure is advancing it’s almost like there isn’t anything going on at the minute unless it’s being done quite with know leaks.

@1jj there’s the physical and mental recovery from a serious injury, it took van dijk over a year to recover and return to something like the player he was before the injury.

{Ed001's Note - it is usually much easier when younger as you tend to feel invincible as a kid, knowing your body will grow and recover quickly (usually). When you are coming to the end of your career any serious injury becomes a threat to you. Each one is potentially career-ending and so much more difficult to deal with mentally, especially afterwards when you have to make a challenge and know you might suffer a recurrence.}

The guy didn't know a darn thing about us getting Endo let alone Caicedo and suddenly he is now tweeting rubbish about us not getting another DM whereas Ed02 has been telling us that we are srill looking to get A DM in and Gravenburch is the guy we are in talks with.

Seriously if anyone belives James Pearce then, they did that on their own, IMO. I usually ignore him and plenty of other know-nothings in the media bar prolly Orntien and definitely Paul Joyce.

I choose not to believe James Pearce. Plus another 8 is more of a luxury than a necessity. Sign another DM, preferably Doucouré or Florentino and with Baj we are covered for in that area. 2 out of the 3 should play ahead of the back 3. We have to stop with this Trent as a DM role. He has to move further forward for his sake and the back lines. We have Elliot who has looked good in pre-season and his cameos as a sub in both league games for the 8 role. You also have Jones who can play in that role. Let’s have the DM’s actually defend and the attacks attack. Or if we want a ‘versatile’ midfielder sign Andre now for January.

Don’t mind either way tbh, just saying I wouldn’t mind if we remained with Endo and Baj. To add, still think we need another CM. Not convinced it needs to be a CDM as we’ll have Endo, Baj and plenty of versatile cover across the squad.

Gravenberch isn't a DM Oli, I think Pearce does actually mention that we're looking for another multi-functional midfielder and it looks like it will be him. I seriously hope it's not, but I didn't want Gakpo either so I'm not the person to listen to!

@Thomas, I know Gravenburch is not a DM but he can play there. Either way, that wasn't my point. My point was that we have a "journalist" who literally said that we would not be signing any other mids after Dom And Mac10 yet we were going to sign Caicedo for a British record, have Endo thru the door and looking at Gravenburch, Doucoure, Andre etc. The guy knows nothing about anything, IMO. The evidence is overwhelming on that front, mate.
