Hey edd002, seeing van dijks comments about if he will staying with the club after klopps departure, have you heard if he is looking for a change or will be happy to stay?
Cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - To be honest I don't know how he feels about it but unless he wishes to head to the Middle East I am not aware of any interest. Liverpool have a lot to do with their defence and at some point there needs to be a succession plan. Much will depend on the new coach but I don't see too many players departing simply because Klopp is going.}

1.) 29 Jan 2024 14:09:26
Unless I missed something VVD doesn’t say anything about leaving or not being sure that he’s staying. The sky ribbon on the bottom of the screen words it wrongly.

2.) 29 Jan 2024 14:38:54
Not sure what else Virgil could say given they only just got the news.

What it does show us is that the ball is firmly in FSG's court. They have lots to do.

3.) 29 Jan 2024 14:59:45
Take it with a pinch of salt. I think his words are being twisted to suit a narrative. My take from it was that he didn't know whether a new manager would want him to stay and renew his contract.

Also, I can't imagine for 1 second that Trent would want to leave just because Klopp is leaving. This is just being reported because his contract is reaching the point of renewal.

The 1 player I can see leaving is Mo. I think he may well have gone anyway this summer but I think his agent will be working overtime now.

That said - I might be wrong, but if the club captain and vice captain want to leave simply because the manager is changing then there is a serious problem and they need to be stripped of their responsibilities immediately.

4.) 29 Jan 2024 15:54:39
I think it's only normal to sit down and have a discussion with your new boss before committing your future.

5.) 29 Jan 2024 15:58:31
I didn't read anything into what VVD said. You're best off finding full uncut quotes and making up your own mind on what is said. It's way too tempting for someone to use this situation (or really anything revolving around LFC) for their own clout chasing pursuits. Change the way you follow news and help put the exploitative hacks out of work.

6.) 29 Jan 2024 17:35:01
If any manager in world football comes near our club that doesn’t see the need for van dijk Trent and mo in our team then they need to be legged rapid .

Trent might be made up a word in the new managers ear I want to play midfield

Vvd might think a back 3 will prolong his status as the best having 2 others next to him

Mo might think right this is my chance to reinvent myself as a centre forward .

No one knows apart from the players themselves and I’m pretty sure they are all focused on winning every game they play for the rest of the season .

People are just jumping on it and thinking we have a mass exodus on our hands . And it’s playing to the narrative of how Utd struggled after fergie and likewise wenger at Arsenal . No one knows what will happen in the future

Chill we are in a good place and don’t see that changing overnight .

7.) 29 Jan 2024 18:49:29
Pelican - If it’s not in FSG’s court, whose court is it in?

8.) 29 Jan 2024 19:39:11
I know ED2 has said there’s no agreement in place as yet (and he is usually right) but I can tell you there is a plan in place.

9.) 29 Jan 2024 22:12:50
So can everyone else 1jj.

10.) 30 Jan 2024 00:49:34
Imagine if they just said - nah we’ll just wing it on the day lads. We don’t need a plan.

This is a multi-billion pound industry ?.

11.) 30 Jan 2024 00:54:06
Scare tactics from the media half of it.

12.) 30 Jan 2024 08:41:28
Exactly Aisky note the sarcasm - the board have known for months, hardly likely to be twiddling their thumbs on such a big decision are they ?.

13.) 30 Jan 2024 09:20:30
As Edmund Blackadder himself said ‘it’s such a cunning plan you could stick a tail on it and call it a weasel’.

14.) 30 Jan 2024 20:25:07
What was he supposed to answer. He genuinely can’t say for sure he’s staying. In the summer he’ll only have 12 months left he’s hardly going to sign a new deal if we appoint some nobody same way Trent and Salah won’t. Get a top manager sorted extend them and bring in some top players and we keep going.

29 Aug 2023 09:42:07
Morning ed002, with it being late in the window now do you think a possible transfer for doucoure is unlikely now? Cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - Measured how? The problem clubs have is in finding replacements and having the time to complete transfers. Liverpool could have done something for now but at £70M or so Liverpool will be thinking very carefully about an offer. There is no way to quantify how likely it will be to complete the transfer,}

1.) 29 Aug 2023 11:39:43
Cheers ed.

2.) 29 Aug 2023 11:41:47
Left it all too late as usual. Incompetence and neglect have become our standard mode of operation.

3.) 29 Aug 2023 13:09:17
It wouldn't matter what the club did VV, you'll always find fault with it.
Prime mother in law material.

4.) 29 Aug 2023 19:52:01
VV isn’t a Liverpool fan Flash, just scroll past.

5.) 30 Aug 2023 05:34:53
@VV, we signed Macca and Dom in the first couple of days of the window. How’s that too late?

11 Aug 2023 15:13:34
Hey edd002 would kimmich still be available? Cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - Yes he is available but Liverpool has shown no interest whilst another side has.}

1.) 11 Aug 2023 16:14:11
May as well go full circle and sign adams and Lavia.

2.) 11 Aug 2023 16:31:26
Adams can stay at Leeds or head to Chelsea or wherever but he isn't good enough imo, better off we steer clear.

Lavia looks good and hopefully we will bid enough to sign him now instead.

Caicedo would have been great if he wasn't set on elsewhere, but I stand by a valuation of £70M imo which would hinder us signing anyone else. We need quality but also at somewhat reasonable prices so that we can afford quality again the next time - or basically a left sided versatile centre back now would be ideal.

3.) 11 Aug 2023 16:37:44
Milkman's sons brother has just told me that it sounds like we have had bid accepted for Inacio. Not fake news.

4.) 11 Aug 2023 18:35:57
Milkman’s son’s brother is also the milkman’s son, no?

26 Jul 2023 13:24:30
Hey ed002 any chance you could give us an update on potential cb’s? With most of our targets unavailable or potentially moving elsewhere, cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any recent changes.}

1.) 26 Jul 2023 13:49:38
Cheers ed.

2.) 26 Jul 2023 15:35:52
Hi Ed, looking at a few reports today suggesting the type of CB we are looking for seemingly not available. A lot of the names you had mentioned before the window opened look as if they could also be forgotten about such as Van De Ven, Schuurs, Ignacio, Ndicka etc, do you think it is unlikely at this point whether we will push forward with a defender?

{Ed002's Note - Obviously they were available then.}

18 Jul 2023 10:55:40
Heyy edd02 seeing a few rumours that kimmich may be available any chance Liverpool would be interested? Cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - I cannot imagine Liverpool looking to him.}

1.) 18 Jul 2023 13:37:41
Nah, we're not interested. Kimmich can KIM as in, Keep it Moving.

2.) 18 Jul 2023 19:37:36
I am shocked that we wouldn't be interested as I think he is the only improvement on Fabs that we could get.

Would palinhia be a transfer we could look to?

Parbs-red

1.) 03 Jan 2024 11:12:00
I’d be surprised if we went for Palhinha given the combination of his age and the outlay that would be required to get him. Endo is a similar age but was available for a far lower price and brings vital qualities to the team beyond simply being a good defensive midfielder. Endo’s excellent level has also meant a DM now isn’t necessary this season.
I rate Palhinha highly but, a bit like Fulham, his performances are inconsistent. He was excellent against Arsenal and West Ham, but absolutely awful against Bournemouth.

{Ed002's Note - Joao Palhinha (DM/CM) Only moved 18 months ago and Fulham will not look to sell unless a huge offer is made and the player asks for a move. All interest except that of Bayern Munich, Arsenal and possibly Newcastle will have gone with the signing of a new contract although Manchester United and Liverpool have had a will respected ex PL and high-end independent scout watch the player on their behalf - although both have other targets. Agent has spoken with Manchester City and Chelsea, and Manchester City may offer an option. Fulham will still look to replacements as they fear the player could have his head turned by Bayern Munich or Arsenal, who see him as an option to Trindade, who Fulham are also keen on. Bayern Munich have scheduled talks about JP whilst they are in London discussing transfers this week.}

2.) 03 Jan 2024 11:44:23
Thank you for that information, Ed. Answered quite emphatically.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

3.) 03 Jan 2024 12:06:43
I think it would be a huge surprise if he went to City. Game time would be very limited.

4.) 03 Jan 2024 14:09:42
Personally think he’s too old and too slow. Makes Fabinho from last season look mobile. We’d be making a very expensive mistake if we signed him. Probably can see him pitching up at City, as they’d have no qualms on the fee and from his perspective he’d play enough games to get a medal and at his age that probably means more than being in mid table for Fulham.

5.) 03 Jan 2024 16:28:27
Spot on, Viktor. If Endo is a stop gap at age 30 then, what does that make Palinha who is about 2 years younger than him? That logic does not make any sense to me on a football nor business level esp. with NO resale value. IMO, whatever DM we get should be in the Alexis Macca age range of 24/ 25 who can make that position his own over the next 5 years. Just my opinion.

Palinha is a year younger that Fab and I think 2 years younger than Endo so no thanks and esp. not for what Fulham is willing to accept, something Bayern was willing to pay in the summer (80m euros or something) . Like you, I'll pass.

6.) 03 Jan 2024 18:32:22
Why anyone would go to City to not play (Phillips Nunes) I have no idea. Too old and wouldn't want him for the sort of money being thrown about.

7.) 03 Jan 2024 19:48:03
Can’t see us signing Palhinha but let’s not bash him and stats don’t lie. The guy recorded most tackles by any player in 2023 with 153 successful tackles and the second player ranks at 123 Pierre Lees Melou.
What’s the fuss about resale value? That’s like accepting we are definitely going to sell him.

8.) 03 Jan 2024 20:02:18
Had he's a very good DM but not 60m at 28 i think is the main takeaway here.

9.) 04 Jan 2024 10:20:17
Indeed, Redflyer. Glad you were able to sum that up cos it was not that hard to deduce.

10.) 05 Jan 2024 06:56:49
@Redflyer, you really can’t think of a reason why players go - and stay at - City and PSG and Real Madrid even if they know they are only going to get on the pitch for meaningless games and then probably only as a sub?

19 Oct 2021 17:59:08
Hey ed002 has liverpool ever shown any interest in antony from ajax? Looks like he could become a great player cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - No, but tehre are discussions with and interest from other clubs.}

19 Oct 2021 09:23:48
Question for ed002, if liverpools financial situation doesn’t improve over the next few seasons how can we keep up with the likes of city, chelsea etc? Given they can spend decent Amounts on the team each year cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool can do what Chelsea do and sell players to fund transfers. The pandemic will hit the accounts badly for last season and then everything should perk up. Clubs will also look to Free Agents.}

1.) 19 Oct 2021 09:45:22
Problem with free agents is you’re more likely to get a Voronin, Cole or Degen than you are a Babel or Milner.

2.) 19 Oct 2021 10:15:50
Or a Pogba, I see your point VictorVaughanVaudevilleVillain.

3.) 19 Oct 2021 10:54:47
Liverpool do not have the spending power of Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and now Newcastle. I think it is inevitable that Liverpool will drop out of the top 4 as they simply cannot compete for the best players.
Furthermore, Klopp has exceeded expectations in relation to what he has spent, due to being a truly outstanding coach. But eventually money will make the difference.
Great coaching and relying on the academy won't be enough, as very few youth players will ever make the grade.
This is not a dig at the owners, as they have done an admirable job, but their business model means they cannot financially compete, at least that's the way it appears.
Newcastle will make mistakes in the transfer market along the way, just like Man City did, but eventually they will get it right as they have the money to do so.

4.) 19 Oct 2021 11:23:55
Exactly.

5.) 19 Oct 2021 11:27:11
could strike gold and land a messi for free.

6.) 19 Oct 2021 12:12:13
@Greenflash fair points, but on large we didn't compete for the "best players" and we are here now. Trent, Elliot and Jones already have top flight experience and i would imagine they will be the core of our next squad.
I can agree that dropping £100million on players may not be a repeat venture without sales, but the likes of Salah didn't come with huge price tags (comparative to city) . Money can buy you the title race, but I wouldn't rule out the infrastructure we have built as a club in the last 5 years.

7.) 19 Oct 2021 12:45:27
I can't be bothered to think about my own finances, let alone Liverpool's.
Just support the team on the pitch.

30 Aug 2021 17:20:33
Hey edd02 can you safely say now we won't be seeing any incoming player until next summer now? Thanks for all your work this summer 👍🏻.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 30 Aug 2021 21:19:05
Jeebus Ed u Lookin for a meltdown 🤣🤣.

2.) 30 Aug 2021 21:34:25
Ed you've just sent very many people into a frenzy on career mode in fifa lol.

3.) 30 Aug 2021 21:44:37
Edwards is putting in his pension pot so we can get Mbappe 😉

You heard it here first!

4.) 30 Aug 2021 22:33:02
But you didn't say whether we would sign someone tomorrow or Jan though 🤣🤪.

5.) 31 Aug 2021 00:18:41
Ed02 answered the question he was asked.

07 Jul 2021 21:48:24
Question for edd02, do you think there will be a salary cap introduced into football anytime soon? Were seeing now clubs not being able to move higher profile players on due to massive wages and of course players not wanting to take a pay decrease, something needs to be brought in imo cheers.

Parbs-red

{Ed002's Note - There are caps throughout the world and recommendations in England already - but it is squad and not individual based.}
