Jones is a long shot from awful. But he appeared to hit a ceiling (pre-injury) and I'd be interested if he can find a way of reaching a higher level.

OP what does Elliot have to do with Jones succeeding or not? The skills of the one have nothing to do with the other. Where you trying to say you like Elliot better than Jones?

Yeah, yeah Ed25. Jones is awful. A ton of LFC players and youngsters are awful, lol. How's Anthony Gordon doing by the way?

tbf every time ed calls one of our players horrible they turn it on in a matter of months! hendo, fab, firmino.

{Ed025's Note - I have never called them horrible waqas. But I do question their ability mate. I made a dodgy call on fab and even though I have been vindicated lately he’s a lot better than I believed. Bobby slept like Snow White for 31/2 years so my call was well earned. And hendo who has been a very good captain has deteriorated as a player m sure you agree. Just my views of course..

ArAy1969! There was no way ED025 was not going to pull our legs today after the 'Relegation reminders' yesterday. He sucked it all up calmly and came back today all guns blazing!

I really would like him to prove me wrong but I don’t think Jones is good enough either ?‍♂️

But I’m not a coach or manager and I’ll trust the cub t recognise if they think he has it in him to play the highest level!

Jones has to keep himself fit first. He isn't there physically yet.
He is a good player but we have the worst performing midfield in 5 years and he is not taking the opportunity to make a place for himself by not keeping fit.

I know injuries are mostly badluck but they also haunt you because of bad work ethic towards fitness. You have to physically strong and available to make yourself in consideration. Jones for two years in row has not been able to do that.
Clock is ticking and if he doesn't play much till January unfortunately it would be curtains for curtis. He will be sacrificed for a new star midfielder 100%.

{Ed001's Note - that is not always true when a young player is growing they usually suffer with injuries of various kinds. Gerrard suffered with back problems, for instance, which led to thigh strains etc. Talk of bad work ethic shows you are truly ignorant of Jones, who is known for his hard work in training, which is why he got his chance in the team in the first place. It is a shame people just want to slag off players without having any knowledge of what they are talking about, even making up nonsense about what causes his injuries. Anyone clueless enough to suggest a poke in the eye, which was his main injury problem last season, is down to lack of work ethic is best ignored I think.}

Poke in The Eye? Didn’t know that
Hope it doesn’t have the sissoko effect on him
Momo was beast before that horrid injury, never the same after that.

If we had him those years, our midfield wouldn’t have been bullied and he did have a shot at becoming a legend with us with his aggression, fitness and tenacity in midfield play.

{Ed001's Note - he has recovered, it seems fully. But it did keep him out for most of his time last season. It was a shame about Sissoko, he was growing into an incredible player.}

Ed001 I think Jones has everything to be a great all round midfielder his work ethic s something we have been missing at the beginning of the season.
For me the only thing he has to do to become a starter is move the ball on faster as he takes to many touches and slows play down but he is still learning a new position.
I think if we had Pele or Maradona in there pomp ed025 would still think Gordon was a better player then blue tinted glasses have had a good few coats of paint on them.

{Ed001's Note - as his confidence grows he will move the ball faster. That is one of the things a lack of confidence always brings, an extra touch or two while the player makes sure of their pass. It is partly why we were so poor at the start of the season as all the players were doing it.}

I like jones and 18-24 months ago I thought he going to really kick on for us and cement a place, good feet, great ability and can score a goal. i think all these injuries have stalled him, I still believe there is place for him but I think he going to have to grasp it now, don't think he can afford another injury or it might just fizzle out for him at liverpool. Now that we have changed formation I think it will suit him better, on the left of a 4 in midfield instead of a 3, will leave him a bit more freedom to attack.

I doubt you'll see any players with a bad work ethic towards fitness in a Klopp squad. And how anyone can come to that assumption from a poke in the eye is beyond me.
Make it up as you go along stuff.

Spot on, Flash. Accusing and attacking players' personal character (or work ethic) without having a clue of who they are nor what their character is, has become par for the course these days. Pathetic.

Hope Jones all the best but he's hardly fit. How can we say he's a good player yet? It's a make or break season for him I reckon. and it's hardly started yet has it. Young version of ox?
