Random question for ed01 and for the wider audience, thoughts on Luis Garcia?

I personally thought he was good but to be fair his goal against Juve in the champions league and chelsea “phantom goal” are the only two things I remember from his time, so bucketing him as good may just be selective memory.

Waqas

{Ed001's Note - he was good but not great. I loved him for his effort and he had excellent technique but he lacked the quality to be more. I don't think he was helped by the way he was used, he would have been better as a modern wide forward rather than how Rafa used his wide men in my opinion.}

Waqas
His FA Cup Semi Final goal against Chelsea at Old Trafford was another standout.

2.) 06 Sep 2023 04:02:19
Torres and him together with him out wide and gerrard in behind would’ve been great!

3.) 06 Sep 2023 06:46:49
Loved Luis Garcia
Great in opposition half, can be careless in our own half
But gave us so many great memories and I believe Chelsea were sick of seeing him.

{Ed001's Note - that was the biggest issue, if he was in his own half he was almost a liability.}

4.) 06 Sep 2023 07:15:42
The tackle on Roy Keane?

He played football with a smile on his face, great team player.

5.) 06 Sep 2023 08:15:05
A bit lightweight and lacked the pace to be really good.

30 Apr 2023 20:18:44
Our medical department is bad even our manager did his hammy.

Waqas

{Ed014's Note - he’ll be out for months then!

1.) 30 Apr 2023 20:56:28
After seeing Klopp pull his Hammy our scouts have now added him to the list of potential right fit midfielders we are looking at for the summer.

Click bait media has reported that the cost of buying Klopp out of his contract by FSG to FSG is probably too high which has got fans knickers in a twist.

2.) 30 Apr 2023 21:17:51
Who knew? Klopp is injury-prone.

3.) 30 Apr 2023 21:35:04
He's made of crisps and I blame Lijnders' tactics.

4.) 30 Apr 2023 21:40:23
They say a manager should lead by example, well he is!

02 Mar 2023 23:49:32
Massive shoutout to stand utd! When they were struggling last season we were going over to their page to take a p., he has been nothing but graceful, kudos mate, making us feel rubbish when we already do!

Waqas

1.) 03 Mar 2023 08:42:23
He seems a sound chap and likes the banter always good to have him pop over ??.

2.) 03 Mar 2023 09:43:38
Just on the subject of Utd what’s people’s thoughts on.

If they finish 2nd and win the FA cup does that mean they match our unbelievable season last year?

Or if they also win the Europa does that mean they better our season?

Genuinely interested in peoples thoughts.

3.) 03 Mar 2023 10:31:06
More trophies and same league position would be a better season in the history books. Fail to win the FA or EURO and it is a worse season, as we ran the champions all the way and our Europe was important. ?.

4.) 03 Mar 2023 10:52:56
No way will it be as good a season as us last year. don't 4get we had to beat Ars, Citeh nd Chelsea twice to win the Cups. We were neck and neck with city whereas the likelihood Utd'll be 3rd probably double figures behind the Champions and as for Europe, c'mon now!

5.) 03 Mar 2023 14:34:28
I think Utd are nailed on for the Europa Cup. Win that and FA Cup then it’s a better season than ours last season. It’s all about trophies, not who you played or how close you came to winning others.

6.) 03 Mar 2023 17:13:10
The Irish Rover, is that how you feel about life in general, mate?
For me It's the memories that make it special, not the results. And in no wau would I swap our nearly quadruple year for Utd's year even if they do win the "treble"

7.) 03 Mar 2023 17:28:51
OP, I wasn’t going to their page to do anything so that doesn’t apply to me. Stand is a nice bro and he is welcome here anytime.

8.) 03 Mar 2023 18:24:35
I can't get away with Man Utd's style, to me they're still essentially a counter attacking side.
Liverpool, Man City, and Arsenal this season, play much better football. Good to watch, even for the neutral.

{Ed025's Note - well man city and arsenal do juicer, have you actually watched this liverpool side this season mate?..

9.) 03 Mar 2023 19:16:15
A temporary aberration Ed ?.

{Ed025's Note - we all have them juicer, i have had many a brain fart over the years mate.. :)

19 Feb 2023 15:26:32
Ed01 is there a reason, we are a tad underwhelming during January/ early February for the last few years?

Barring maybe 19/ 20, even then if I am remembering correctly we were getting results but the performances weren’t necessarily the best.

Is this something I’ve made up or is this really a trend?

Waqas

{Ed001's Note - it feels like it is correct, though I am not sure if it is just how it feels rather than how it is. I would expect it to be down to fatigue. Mental rather than physical. They go through the Christmas season and know there are still a few months to go, so they don't have the lift of coming into the final stretch and the adrenalin boost that produces. All they have is the tired legs and cold weather to look forward to. I would expect that is all it is, I am sure if you look at all the teams in European competition they probably have a similar dip as the extra games take their toll.}

1.) 20 Feb 2023 05:05:39
The problem is obviously second helpings on Boxing Day.

2.) 20 Feb 2023 08:18:54
I've said it on here before but I think someone at the club overthought the impact of the mid-season world cup and left the players short of fitness at the start of the season. On the back foot from the off and playing catch up now to other teams. Injuries have played their part as well but Ed001 often says that some of those will come from not being fully fit.

3.) 20 Feb 2023 09:04:38
OP, I think every team suffers from this to a point esp. those w/ o depth or those with depth BUT have massive injuries. Look at Newcastle for ex. They can't buy a win to save their lives whereas they were flying at the start of the season. Tired legs with NO depth and injuries will eventually catch up with ANY team hence way City are always favoured to win the title cos they have 19 players of very good ability to withstand the workload and injuries that these things bring. Just my take.

IMO, What has done us in is the mental and physical fatigue from last season along with injuries (prolly as a result of both) and this wretched system we employed which did NOT help the players at all and compounded things on a schematic level.

@Johnnyr1970, we were not short of fitness at the start of the season, IMO. We played MORE games that City did in preseason (5 games to City's 2) and City played near as many games as we did last season so maybe they knew something we didn't by cutting back their workload in preseason in order to be fresher at the start of the season as in, making their first few league game like preseason to build fitness. Now the travelling around may not have helped with trips to Asia BUT it is what it is on a commercial front. It's football so I wouldn't read too much into it, IMO.

4.) 20 Feb 2023 09:35:35
I feel like we always go on a run from about this time of year onwards.

5.) 20 Feb 2023 09:52:53
Death, taxes, Klopp Januarys, poor post-warm weather camp form and a spring string of wins - just all part of the bundle.

6.) 20 Feb 2023 11:18:56
No human beings are allowed to enjoy anything in January, which explains why the only team in any sort of form is United. Their fans are a different species.

7.) 20 Feb 2023 12:58:33
Thom43, now that was hilarious. Bravo, sir.

8.) 20 Feb 2023 13:27:49
Yup, you earned a Thumbsup for that one Thom!

9.) 20 Feb 2023 13:57:01
Jhonny I don’t think the issues are with lack of planning and fitness at the beginning of the season at least not as the basis for an argument this post, that may have pronounced the impact of the slow January as we didn’t start the season well.

I agree with Ed and oli it’s mid season blues of sorts, and the lack of depth doesn’t help, the only team who carries any sort of form consistently through January is city and even they seem to be struggling this time around!

10 Feb 2023 14:26:36
Here’s an idea, if utd is worth 6-8 billion coz of 1 billion fans, we must have at least 6-800 mil fans, let’s pitch in 10 bucks a fan buy utd and run them into the ground.

Waqas

1.) 10 Feb 2023 14:52:13
We could save a lot of extra effort and just hand it over to Moshiri and Bill Kenwright.

2.) 10 Feb 2023 15:04:57
Thom43, for the brilliant “success” we now know Everton to be now.

3.) 10 Feb 2023 16:30:20
I mean they could buy us for 3b at 3 bucks a fan after after all they are 1/ 8th of the entire world population.

Americans love international football “soccer”, to be fair it’s the only sport that they play with an audience at a broader world stage… basketball and baseball has some audience but they are not as big as football.

Ed025 had that red card impacted the outcome of the game, do you think they would’ve admitted the mistake?

In my opinion, not… that would’ve caused some backlash.

Waqas

{Ed025's Note - i asked the same question earlier Waqas, i know it never but it could have cost valuable points mate..
