Don't know how many others, on here, were lucky enough to have been there, but the atmosphere yesterday was as good as it's been for a long time. Vacated the Kop for the King Kenny stand and the noise, from every stand, was superb. Be nice to repeat it for West Ham game but may be asking too much.

Rome I was there mate and Im there again on wed with the boy. Might unknowingly cross paths with you in a pub ?.

2.) 17 Oct 2022 14:50:07
I can't make Wednesday, JK, sing loud for me, mate.

3.) 17 Oct 2022 15:17:10
I could hear you guys all the way to the United States! Well done to those on and off the pitch!

4.) 17 Oct 2022 16:21:40
Thanks, Pete. I always like to think that a great atmosphere helps to get an extra 1 percent out the players.

5.) 17 Oct 2022 16:49:27
I envy those that can go to games and witness such pandemonium cos even I can feel it from the telly. Drink it in, guys.

6.) 18 Oct 2022 06:50:06
I like it when the crowd turns up to create an atmosphere. It certainly makes getting up at 430am to watch on the telly more exciting

I look forward to Ed01s take on today. He's remained quite positive up till. I'm still of the opinion that this side has run its course. Hope that I'm wrong. So many things wrong with us, Klopp doesn't know where to start going about fixing it.

For what my opinion is worth, I'd get Konate in the starting line up asap and I'd start Gomez at right back, despite my reservations about him.

On a side note, and I know it's been asked before, but what's happened to poster Salah and Barry in Louth. Hope they're both good.

Rome1977

1.) 09 Oct 2022 19:48:09
I also am looking forward to his take on all this. Nothing is working at the min and our star players are not performing anywhere near the standards they have set for themselves.

2.) 09 Oct 2022 19:57:33
Conceding the first goal is psychologically now at this stage a big blow. We're constantly chasing and we don't have the legs anymore to chase game after game. Virg is massively disappointing. Doesn't put his foot in anymore. Players are allowed to run 40 yards and chose a pass whilst he jogs alongside them. Either not the same player or needs a massive dressing down. Whining all the time. Go work on getting back to your beat in training as we need you to be at your best.

3.) 09 Oct 2022 20:17:08
Klopp gets as much time as he needs in my view.

4.) 09 Oct 2022 20:22:26
Start from the back become compact again VVD and Trent out they have been very poor, Gomez and konate in.

5.) 09 Oct 2022 20:24:25
I agree Acered but top 4 really is a must. If we drop out of top 4 it will be extremely hard to get back in there.

6.) 09 Oct 2022 20:41:29
Acered I do understand the comment, LFC under Klopp is the best I have ever seen my team, but there can no room for sentiment. That’s what got us into this position in the first place with complacent ‘star’ players not performing and an ageing squad becoming less effective. In my opinion Klopp needs to turn this around and get the team into the top 4 by the end of next season, just like he did in his first 2 years with us, because we look like we are straight back at square 1 when he joined in my opinion.

7.) 09 Oct 2022 21:07:41
4 points above relegation spots. Just let that sink in. Worst start to a season in 10 years. If Klopp is unable to sort it there’s only one conclusion. I don’t want that to happen but where’s the solutions?

8.) 09 Oct 2022 21:38:55
Spot on, Cookee. That’s like the 14th game we have conceded first in the last 16 games I think. That is severely unsustainable to handle in a weekly basis for a team that low on confidence. We can’t keep digging a hole for ourselves every week and expecting to crawl out of it everytime. We need to stop digging first off and then, go from there. It’s really becoming desperate the way we are playing.

9.) 09 Oct 2022 22:27:27
Too many old players. Administration above Klopp need to buy younger players. Defenders and midfield.
This should have been seen a while ago. Klopp cannot be blamed, he works with what he has got. FSG either must spend or sell.

03 Oct 2022 19:53:35
Great listening to Gary Neville on Sky, just, highlighting the four areas where Trent needs to improve and work on defensively. Given how well he played in the role, for years, he's a bloke who should be listened to. He does say that if he does improve the defensive side of his game he could go on to be the best right back the world's ever seen. Praise indeed from Neville.

Rome1977

1.) 03 Oct 2022 20:14:57
I think many inc Neville have said Trent has had the potential to be the best for a good while now. Unfortunately his defending is clearly not improving. What were the 4 areas of improvement. I would say go with the runner is his main fault.

2.) 03 Oct 2022 21:28:42
I love Trent but his head has gone. Never been the best defensively and without a defensive minded midfielder with legs covering him he's too vulnerable. Would genuinely play Gomez RB for a couple of games to stem the tide and let Trent refocus. 2 bad games against Martinelli and Foden/ Grealish and as crazy as it sounds it could take him years to mentally recover with all the pressure from the fans and media mounting.

3.) 03 Oct 2022 22:08:22
In transition, sprint back.
In one on one defending keep body position low/ crouched.
Body shape should be open when ball is on opposite side of pitch.
Rotate head when defending back post and check distances.

4.) 03 Oct 2022 22:23:01
Thanks Rome. That’s all pretty basic knowledge for a pl fullback I would say. But granted he has been really poor at all those thing’s recently. No excuses for not sprinting back and no excuses when he is set for not following the runner.

5.) 03 Oct 2022 22:37:39
Defending is a collective team issue. It’s wrong to just focus on TAA. When the team defends well then TAA is part of that effort.

If we lack intensity then the opposition have time to find space. It’s not just TAA that have to up their game.

Looking to put the major part of blame on TAA right now is simply daft.

6.) 03 Oct 2022 23:02:32
Tommy, I'm not looking to blame solely Trent. I've said on here in previous posts that we have up to 9 players who are all below par. All what I'm doing is mentioning what I found to be an interesting analysis from Gary Neville.

7.) 03 Oct 2022 23:19:04
There is simply no other right back in world football who is asked to do as much as Trent does in attack. Of course his defending has warranted criticism but he’s not a horrible defender. The whole team is not defending well.

8.) 03 Oct 2022 22:53:54
Tommy, we can critique nearly all of them for not doing their own jobs properly. A mention for Firmino though 2 lovely finishes and one of very few who is playing his part.

9.) 04 Oct 2022 07:10:07
I agree with you TJ Red, but what I will say is, its not always the case that Trent has been found wanting when he is in an offensive position. There have been more than enough times this season were he has been in his right back spot and has been short of what's required.
I get that he is one of our most creative players on the pitch and its by design that he is so high up the pitch, its what Klopp is asking him to do but when he gets into a defensive position surely he can do better. Neville made some very good points in my opinion.
It feels to me as if Trent is playing like he's already played 50 games in a season and not just the start. Very sluggish but he clearly isn't our only issue, far from it.

On a positive note, Liverpool to win 4-0 tonight ???.

10.) 04 Oct 2022 07:27:30
Yes, let’s be positive tonight Irish. Any sort of win will do me nicely. I think we have to beat Rangers twice.

11.) 04 Oct 2022 07:29:30
He’d do well to listen to Neville. It wasn’t criticism for its own sake but constructive advice from someone who was a very good right back.

12.) 04 Oct 2022 08:19:01
Trent has improved his defending from his beginnings but his head clearly isn't in the game, like a lot of them, a move to 3 at the back would help him and the likes of Fabinho in midfield too, him and Thiago with a 3 behind them would help their game too.

13.) 04 Oct 2022 08:53:38
Ons position really isn't the issue. As a collective, we're not good enough and haven't adapted to a shape excluding Mane.

14.) 04 Oct 2022 09:40:28
100% markp, beating Rangers home and away is a must now I think.

15.) 04 Oct 2022 10:07:18
We're asking too much from our players with this system. Neither of our left backs are technical enough to underlap or join in the midfield. Trent is being asked to push on so far that it would be impossible for any human to make the sprints back into right back position. Our no8s are being asked to push on into the box and are also unable to sprint long distances when the ball is lost. Fabinho is being asked to cover an entire 3rd of the pitch himself and the passes into our forwards are so incredibly difficult (hospital passes) that it is unsurprising that they lose the ball so often and that we get broken on so often.

We need to go back to basics. We're trying to implement a system for being more effective with low blocks without having the legs or personnel for it. And to add salt, opposition aren't bothering with low blocks any more and are going straight for our throat.

16.) 04 Oct 2022 11:02:59
Spot on with your assessment FlyPelicanFly. Champions League tonight though so let’s get the win and build some momentum.

17.) 04 Oct 2022 12:44:11
Interesting points Pelican! Thanks buddy.

18.) 04 Oct 2022 15:18:03
I fully agree, Pelican. We simply cannot play the way we want to play right now cos our heads have gone physically and mentally and the lack of confidence and trust within the team is there to see. It’s time to do what works now to help the players. Go back to the basics of footie, do the simple things first and go from there till things get better.

As for Neville, he’s speaking from a position lack of leaved experience cos he played RB a lot differently than how Trent and modern fullbacks play now. Also at no point was Neville ever asked to shoulder anywhere near the tasks Trent has been asked to shoulder going both ways so again, he is speaking out of context. He’s not the only one tho.

I know some of the posters were in Paris, the weekend. Hope you all got back unscathed. I think we would all be interested to hear about your experiences, I know I would.

Rome1977

1.) 01 Jun 2022 20:23:15
It might be a long read Rome . But I’ll try simplify my experience mate
There was zero trouble between Liverpool and Madrid support. I’ve just got to say that though first. Zero

To even enter the grounds of the stadium (not through the turnstiles) just to enter the area. Was a barbaric crush.
They checked the legitimacy of each and every ticket with a special pen, TWICE before letting you anywhere near the stadium.
So every LFC fan you see queuing on the pictures at the gates, well let’s say 99% for fair arguments sake, had real ticket. Because they had to go through TWO checks to even get to that area.

They put our fan zone, 55 minutes drive away from the stadium, Jamie Webster finished 3 hours before kick off and everyone set off to the game. Trains Uber etc.
it was €80 in an Uber that shows you how far away we were. In comparison Madrid fans were walking distance.
When you got past the first 2 checks the madness really started. The technology of the ticket scanning was failing all around the ground so of all the entrances, so, they were funnelling the entire 80k fans through around 3/ 4 turnstiles.
That created the queues, they then, decided to close ALL the gates, and just left fans locked outside!
These fans, with legitimate tickets, who have paid thousands for tickets, flights, hotels etc. Not just That game, the ‘entire season’ to build the credits needed for a final. They were stood outside the locked gates, hearing YNWA ring around inside, and some of those tried to jump the fence.
The police then Tear gassed the entire fanbase outside.

But the game was tarnished, nobody was singing really, everyone was just talking throughout the match about the trouble. Empty seats all around because at least half were locked out, some getting in around 65 minutes in, some not at all.

But what really annoyed me the most was when we tried to leave, they basically locked the fans inside the grounds of the stadium, and started Gassing us. We couldn’t get out.
No fake tickets or clashes with Madrid supporters or whatever ‘false excuses’ they can come up with can explain why you Tear Gas supporters trying to leave the stadium and go Home.
It was so close to a disaster mate, I was convinced there would be deaths, all it would’ve taken was one of those supporters to fall over and he/ she would’ve been trampled by thousands trying to escape the gas.

They have to learn from this. No problems with Losing to Madrid I congratulate them. But I wouldn’t take your children to a football game in France, not to mention the Gangs and muggings either, but that’s another story. YNWA reds hope everyone is safe.

2.) 01 Jun 2022 20:41:48
Wow what a insight mate! French b#%#%#%# it’s all I’ll say! And to see more insane words from that clown earlier (we expected trouble from the English) what a W#%#%#!

3.) 01 Jun 2022 21:11:12
LFC8, many thanks for sharing your story, mate. What a shambolic experience you had. Regarding your view on there being no deaths, a good mate of mine, who was also there, said exactly the same, that it was only by chance that there wasn't.
Thanks once again for sharing your experience and all the best to you, mate.

4.) 01 Jun 2022 21:49:41
That's unbelievable lfc8,great 2 hear a 1st hand account of the mess that it was. i was at the 05 and 07 finals, in Istanbul the stadium may as well have been on the moon,1 road in 1 road out. couldn't even get a bottle of water at it. Night before game in square where liverpool fans where, locals would pull the beer out of your hand and then shout and run and the tv cameras would then run there to see if lfc fan would retaliate. Obviously staged. In 07 I think potential was there for a similar mess as paris was but didn't materialise from what I seen.

5.) 01 Jun 2022 22:02:38
No doubt there will be blame laid at the Liverpool fans feet, even tho Merseyside police and every news reporter has publicly stated that the fans were as good as gold. There's no way UEFA and the French authorities are going to put theirs hands up and admit they F##ked up. Hateful that so many people spent hard earned money only to experience that. I will be honest, if my kid was with me and he got gassed and pepper sprayed, I would certainly be arrested for my actions. Shame on Uefa and French authorities, pathetic bunch.

6.) 01 Jun 2022 22:10:35
That sounds like a horror show mate. Glad you got out safe.

7.) 01 Jun 2022 22:14:22
I went without ticket and done the fan zone.

Afternoon was amazing, Liverpool fans were awsome, the fanzone entry was between two vans and armed police.

No issues kids being put first and all round a boss day.

Came out went back in the night, felt like a crush full of French and felt forced in.
Once in we stayed on the edge near exit 10, security just kept letting kids and people in with bottles who were the kind of folk you avoid.

We left 10 minutes early and couldn't get to the coaches, kept getting re directed by police to areas away from coaches and when asking police for help, they just didn't care very threatening and dismissive.

I know a little French when I say a little I mean very basic, luckily I managed to find 1 decent copper (maybe coz I tried to speak French) and was let through to the coaches I was told to go too.

Day was great, night was scary especially as I was only with the wife, just a bad vibe.

Lfc hopeful, the reason Henderson isn't England captain is he isn't guaranteed his place, Kane is. Virgil is Netherland's captain, he doesn't captain us.

And all this vitriol about south American players. Diaz, Nunez, Alisson, Fabinho, Firmino etc.

Oraujo, because I believe he should be English. A view shared by many, including Carragher. Unless I'm mistaken, Italy, Germany and France have always had one from their own country, so should we. I disagree with Ed14 on his opinion of Southgate. I wouldn't want him near Liverpool, but he's done a decent job managing England.

Kloppofthedeen, fine margins. Kane scores the penalty and there's a good chance we go on and win that game. Like I've said in previous posts, there is no suitable English candidate to replace him, so if he wishes to remain in post we may as well keep him.

Either way, like I've previously said, I'm not losing sleep. When it comes to football it starts and ends with Liverpool FC.
