Something that I've thought for a while especially if you have seen this guy live but I think Kelleher is better than Ali. Would like to get views of someone like Eds25 or someone else without rose tinted glasses. Bring it on.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think there is a lot between them ability wise ace, but alisson has the experience even though he does have the odd brain fart when the ball is at his feet mate..

Really! Really!

Maybe you could pass this insight on to Klopp.

He's a class act for sure, and since you've started a thread about him I would like to reply to the poster who suggested earlier this week that we 'cash in' in Kelleher and use a veteran in his place. IMO- the reason that Klopp will no entertain this idea is if he did, when Ali gets injured (which he seems a lot, for a goalie, compared to any other goalie in recent memory) then we would have to alter our style of play entirely. Kelleher is a rookie sweeper keeper and allows us to play the high line. A veteran wouldn't be so quick off his line. Kelleher is the future. As long as we can keep him happy in the meantime, we should keep at all costs. World class goalies are hard to come by, and make ALL the difference between a title winning side and an also ran. Remember Mignolet?

{Ed025's Note - and karius..

The fella was just asking a question.

From the limited amount I have seen Kelleher is (going to be) a top notch goalkeeper but I think between Ali and Pitulagi he may not flourish at Liverpool.

I rate Kelleher very highly, but he's well behind Alisson on commanding the area and 1v1s and probably a bit behind on shot stopping too. I appreciate Alisson had two dodgy games in December and in the Kneejerk Era that means he's crap now, but the reality is his positioning and anticipation are normally exceptional and that puts him ahead of Kelleher, and pretty much every other goalie currently playing, for now.

That being said, I do prefer Kelleher with the ball at his feet. In terms of technique Ali is better, but Kelleher knows when it's time to just kick it long. Ali will still sometimes take the risk of playing out.

Ali is best in 1v1s in the world. its a joke that you are even comparing them.

Kelleher is not even in the same bracket of Dean Henderson whose struggling for a game time at UTD. Nobody is replacing Ali.

How many GK's do we have on our books right now that will still be here next season? If we've got someone like Adrian still at the club, we should really be hawking Kelleher around for a season long loan. Preferably to a top league team that is in a European competition, where he will be the number 1 keeper.

{Ed0666's Note - why?

How can anyone feel so comfortable being so blasphemous? This is what many fans complain about us that we overate our players and in this case, Kelleher. Like IBRA said, there is a difference between a Ferrari and a Fiat. This is not taking anything from Kelleher, who've, to fair, been great but one Bazunu (or something) is preferred to him internationally and Ali is preferred to Ederson. Wait, how did we get here by the way?

Agree Ugbes. I have to say that for me Ali hasn’t been his best this season.

Becker for me wins it with the experience he has, Kelleher is great to have as this keeps Ali on his toes looking over his shoulder. I would hope Kelleher would be here for another 2 years, that would make him 25 which is still young for a goalkeeper, maybe we cash in on Ali in 2 years, he should have plenty of resale value and there may be more money floating around then.

Is this a real thread? Is it April 1st or something?

Bazunu in fairness is also a superb young goalie, city No.1 in a few year. The Irish nanager has said he needs Kelleher playing games. Ireland looking sorted for goalies.

22 Jan 2022 09:58:51
Top teams need two top goalies end of. If he is happy for now then let’s stop trying to sell these players as fans and let Klopp do his job to keep them happy. City are only top because they have better quality squad depth. We need more quality to rotate not less.

Kelleher hasn’t made any mistakes this season for the first team. I think he has a very bright future. I am definitely more confident with the ball at Kelleher’s feet. That being said of course Allison is well ahead but he has made far too many mistakes that have cost us points this season. If we want to win the big trophies Allison must cut out his mistakes.

22 Jan 2022 10:10:50
Mark sums it’s up very nicely.

Ali has been a bit of an enigma. As although he has cost us some goals, he has most certainly saved us many times too. He needs to cut out the silly mistakes which I believe he will.

Right now, as highly as I rate Kell, there’s a huge gap between them. Ali isn’t appreciated as much due to the fact he makes extremely difficult things look simple. There’s no better keeper in the league when it comes to positioning.

16.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 10:40:42
So we've got strength and cover in the goalkeeping position and we weaken this to to give us strength and cover elsewhere in the team?
Good 'keepers win you titles and cups and Alisson played his part in our first title in 30 years and winning our sixth CL.
We do need a squad overhaul but not at the expense of the area that needs the least strengthening.
We should sell our better players when they want to go. If they don't, replace the players that are not performing, not the likes of Alisson, Kelleher or Salah.

17.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 11:18:07
He’s very calm and collected and is very good with his feet that’s plainly obvious. He’s not as good as Ali though by a long shot. I suspect he could reach similar levels though if he stays and has a bit of luck.

18.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 11:25:39
Jason I'll give you any odds you want that Bazuna is never the No.1 at City. Absolutely no chance. Its worth remembering too that the young man got his chance playing for Ireland because Kelleher picked up a knock in training. Kelleher is going to be top class and I for one don't lose a bead of sweat when I see his name on the team sheet.

19.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 12:00:04
Honestly, I think Kelleher should be sold eventually for as much as possible because I can't see him replacing Becker any time soon. Saying that I don't see him moving before the end of 22/ 23 season at least.

20.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 12:36:16
OP, you are right to ask the question however, there is no way to even know any of that right now. Simply cos Kelleher lacks the experience nor the body of work to even begin to explore such a scenario.

I propose we don’t get carried away with Kelleher’s tiny sample size of very good performances and start making false comparisons cos IMO, it is not helping Kelleher. We are putting him on a pedestal he clearly has not earned. Let the kid grow and learn and then judge him on his own merits.

“There’s not much between them”. Yeah, you wish Ed25. You know who there isn’t much between? Kelleher and that Pickford dross on your own net at the Woodshed you lot call a stadium. Sip on that, lol.

21.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 13:44:10
Oli that’s a bit harsh. You say don’t put him on a pedestal and then compare him to Pickford. Christ what’s Kelleher ever done to deserve such an insult 🤣.

22.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 14:10:05
My bad, JK. Kelleher definitely didn’t deserve that. I apologise 🤩🤩.

23.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 16:26:24
For me there is no GK in the world that is better at positioning themselves than Ali.

His ability to be in a position where he’s able to catch shots, instead of having to palm them away in some sort of camera save like De Gea, is why he’s the clear number 1 for me.

Yes he does seem to have the odd lapse in concentration and like us all, is prone to a mistake, but he’s got my vote to continue as our #1 for a long time yet.

24.) 22 Jan 2022
22 Jan 2022 21:50:17
What I can’t get my head around is this annoying need to sell the actual good to great players we have just cos some shiny new toy comes around. We have the luxury of having arguably the best GK in the planet as well as one of the finest young GK’s in England on our books and suddenly, the best GK on the planet should be sold just cos the able deputy is having good performances.

Some teams can’t even find one good GK and we have two of them yet one has to be sold? This is insane. Seriously, Is it too much to ask that we should all be happy to have boss players instead of trying to sell them for literally no reason other than being prisoners if the moment?

{Ed0666's Note - Ali isn’t going anywhere Oli just because someone on the internet thinks the No2 is better than him. Relax friend.
