It's been that long I've actually forgotten what the ox was like! What did you think of the start to his liverpool career ed 001?

Nikey

{Ed001's Note - he took a while to get going but he was just established as a first choice midfielder when he got injured. He was really playing some lovely stuff and looking a bargain signing. Gutted that he got injured and just hope he can get back to the same level.}

1.) 26 Apr 2019 14:55:05
Me too Ed001, we have really missed him at times this season. No doubt he also seems a lovely guy and is clearly a big character in the dressing room. While City have had to suffer most of this season without De Bruyne, people forget we have had to go the entire season without the Ox!

{Ed001's Note - very true.}

2.) 26 Apr 2019 16:22:18
I think he had a big part in salah's amazing season. They both have serious pace and shots. They both scare defences and Aoc can pick out a pass. I bet salah scores more next season if the ox gets back to form. Salah has been better since hendo has started playing that role.

3.) 27 Apr 2019 09:18:48
I have always said that it was Ox that we needed the most this season more than Fekir. Ox was a nightmare for City last season and even they know it. His ability to break the opposition lines with pace and power was a joy to watch and many teams could not cope with him. I remember Fernandinho gasping for breathe while eating Ox's dust in last season's CL battles and had we had him in the final vs RM, we would have been able to deal with Salah's injury better.

I just hope that he can regain his full fitness and confidence and get back to the level he was at cos IMO, he was frightening when he was in top form.

Ed 001 just for a bit of fun what's your combined LFC/ barca starting 11?

Alison, trent, Gomez, dijk, Alba, fabinho, Henderson, Salah, messi, mane, firmino

4231.

Nikey

{Ed001's Note - the only one I could possibly disagree on was leaving out Rakitic, but who on earth could be dropped from that 11 for him?}

1.) 18 Apr 2019 17:03:08
Allison
TAA-VvD-Pique-Alba
Busquets-Fabinho
Mane. Messi. Salah
Suarez.

{Ed001's Note - Pique and Busquets? Really? Pique was never a defender at his peak but he is well past his best now and Busquets can't even run.}

2.) 18 Apr 2019 17:10:01
There is no doubt about it, we have a far more balanced and healthy team than Barcelona right now. If Messi doesn’t show up for them then they are toast. We have the best defence in the world right now and the second leg at anfield will be a huge boost. United just about managed to stifle him at Old trafford. The question is will we still be in the tie after the game at the Nou Camp? I don’t expect us to win at all, but an away goal and keeping the score at a reasonable level, even 2-1 to Barcelona would be bearable. Man United and Lyon have shown that Barcelona defence are not all on the same page and can make mistakes.

Whichever way it goes the thought of Messi playing in a semi-final at anfield is mouthwatering, this will be a tie for the ages make no mistake about it.

3.) 18 Apr 2019 18:12:02
I think Milner has to play and track Messi all game.

4.) 18 Apr 2019 18:31:36
AW. "United managed to stifle him at Old Trafford".

They didn't manage to stifle him. Smalling probably gave him a concussion with his challenge on Messi. It wasn't a foul but if that challenge didn't happen, Messi would have no doubt had a much better game.

5.) 18 Apr 2019 18:34:58
2-2 at theirs as they will come out to play. 3-2 at ours.

6.) 18 Apr 2019 18:39:01
Ed001. You're mentioning that it'd be hard to leave out Rakitic. I remember before the Coutinho deal with Barca, there were names banded about as Barcelona wanted to include a player in the deal and I think, if I remember correctly, that Rakitic was one of the players suggested.

I also remember that everyone, including the Eds (not sure if you were one of them) were firmly against Rakitic as he was deemed not good enough.

Has he massively improved or did we just not know enough about him?

{Ed001's Note - you are talking about different things. He is aging and there are times when that shows through, which is not suited to the way we play. He needs more stamina and energy than he has left in his legs to play for us over the course of a season. However, as an actual player, on his day he still has the potential to change a game. He is just not what you would want in your team if it was a long term contract as he is clearly on the downhill slope and is on massive wages.}

7.) 18 Apr 2019 18:51:11
I'd pick Robbo over Alba.

8.) 18 Apr 2019 18:55:48
We look to be a better side than Barcelona are at present, I would have us as favourites over a 2 legged tie, no way would I bet on it though, Messi can score hat-tricks for fun on his day and we have 2 very dangerous players in Coutinho and Suarez who might haunt us.
Infact yeah I would bet on it 1-1 in the first tie, 4-1 in the second.

9.) 18 Apr 2019 19:41:24
You stop Messi then you stop barca, we'll stop Messi and we'll win. I'll say it until I'm blue in the face because they have nothing on us, I'm 100% confident.

10.) 18 Apr 2019 20:05:17
Thanks Ed001 :) That makes perfect sense.

{Ed001's Note - makes a change for me to make sense!}

11.) 18 Apr 2019 21:15:12
Do people really believe that Suarez is better than Firmino? He was an absolute genius when he was with us, but he's not the same player anymore.

Alisson, TAA, Gomez, VVD, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Rakitic, Mane, Salah, Messi. For me.

I know I've not included Firmino in my pick, but Messi gets that spot. Firmino on the bench.

12.) 18 Apr 2019 21:44:06
Messi somewhere; obviously. The other 10 would be Liverpool players for sure.

13.) 18 Apr 2019 22:50:56
Good idea lerchy. Get milly on messi all game. Or fabhino. But milner is the more dependable.

14.) 19 Apr 2019 00:13:41
I was thinking this the other day, it’s easy for me.
Allison
Trent gomez vvd Robbo (why would you change a good back five)
Fabinho rakitic
Firmino
Salah messi mane

Maybe a little red tinted. For a one off game I may pick different players, but That would be my best team.

15.) 19 Apr 2019 00:54:38
Alisson
Van Dijk
Trent Fabinho Robbo
Rakitic Coutinho
Salah Messi Mane
Suarez

I’ve gone for the 1-3-2-3-1. Plenty of goals in that team 😄.

16.) 19 Apr 2019 07:27:09
I haven't watched suarez since he left. He is dangerous. I think klopp will put lovren on him and drop matip.

{Ed025's Note - if i was the cannibal i would be very happy with that robbie..

Ed 001 what do you think about sissoko's chance? Excellent defending from van dijk or just really poor from sissoko? I like to think van dijk made it difficult for him as I think sissoko had it in his head he was going to play son but dijk made that hard so he then left it too late and panicked. 0 composure.

Nikey

{Ed001's Note - both. Even under pressure Sissoko should have hit the target but van Dijk did not make it easy.}

1.) 02 Apr 2019 18:45:28
Was top drawer defending if u ask me 2v1 situation and vvd came out tops!

2.) 02 Apr 2019 20:19:17
I think the fact Sissoko started the move off on edge of his own area and ran the length of pitch played into him skying it personally.

3.) 02 Apr 2019 20:59:12
VVD played the situation the way any top class defender in the same situation would have played it. Sissoko should have hit the target yes BUT as someone said, he started the move from the edge of his own box and it was clear that he wanted to offload the ball to Son cos he looked knackered. VVD recognizes the situation, stays calm, cool and composed and cuts out the passing lane to Son. He then delays Sissoko till he had no choice but to shoot, something he really did not look like he fancied. Hats off to VVD for keeping his head and not panicking in such a tense situation.

Not liverpool related I know ...

{Ed002's Note - The put it on the correct page.}

1.) 11 Mar 2019 17:24:46
But is Brexit ever going to happen?

{Ed025's Note - lets hope not..

2.) 11 Mar 2019 18:43:04

Ed 001 have you seen much of Nicolas pepe of lille? What a player he looks! Think he could make it to the top?

Nikey

{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen much of him but he was extremely exciting what I did see. I am surprised Chelsea did not go for him in January to be honest.}

1.) 02 Feb 2019 21:06:09
He is tearing it up in Ligue 1 right now and based on what I read in the French media, Lille will not b asking anything less than 80m euros for who ever wants Pepe. He is the real deal, IMO.

2.) 03 Feb 2019 03:12:21
Most likely a replacement for Robben at Bayern while CHO replaces Ribery.

3.) 03 Feb 2019 03:58:02
I’m sure Lille will give us a good deal 😄.

4.) 03 Feb 2019 08:59:15
We gave them Joe Cole, about time they repaid the favour!

5.) 03 Feb 2019 09:21:39
Rugby, I don't know if that discount is still valid. It may already have expired, lol.
