Thanks for the insightful review, as always, Ed001. So happy with Endo's performances of late. He was MOTM for me, here. No hesitation to get physically stuck in (usually against much bigger guys) and even out jumps many of them (like Jota) . With the money spent on him in mind, he's clearly contender for signing of the year for me. Much better than those two who shuffled off to Chelsea.

{Ed001's Note - he has certainly been better than those two so far, but long term they might come good.}

They have 7 and a half years left on their contracts, so they have time.

WDW3, supposedly Enzo, with a 8.5 year contract, already wants out. Not too long before others start looking for a path out, too. Money means a lot to many people, but it's never everything. See our Hendo.

I thought Grav made a difference when he came on at 0-0. He started carrying the ball forward and added some energy. His best game so far.

I think the dedicated DM position is something we need to address for next season. Endo has been fantastic but he's the wrong side of 30 to be a long term solution and I just have a slight doubt about it being MacAllister's best position. However it's hard to complain when you're top of the league so don't take this as a moan!

Thanks for the report Ed. Always appreciated!
Gutted with the injuries as it just seemed we were getting players back.
I've been Jotas biggest critic but thought he has been brilliant recently.

{Ed001's Note - he certainly has.}

What do you think of Luke Chambers for next year. Seems to be doing very well albeit in a lower league.

{Ed001's Note - hard to say, he never looked ready when he did get the chance but it is still early for him. He is not lighting it up like Bradley, so I don't see a player ready to step in like he has, but that doesn't mean he won't grow into the team in time with some experience.}

I don’t know if you seen this after the game eds1 but they show a camera from inside the Brentford dressing room with Thomas Frank standing in the middle talking to all the players and Tony’s body language is terrible compared to all the other players he did look bother that they had lost. I totally agree with you on the treatment he’s been give since coming back they are treating him like he’s done nothing wrong which it bizarre because he can’t wait to leave and has even said he wants out!

{Ed001's Note - they have got it all wrong with him and made him bigger than the club, which he shouldn't be.}

Have to say i agree with your comment on Toney Ed1 he really looks like he just wants that big money move now, which for what he did to Brentford with the betting is really poor.

His attitude seems to be that he's bigger than the club now.

{Ed001's Note - they have made him that way with their treatment of him.}

Johnny1970. Bajcetic showed last season for 5/ 6 months before his injury that he is more than capable. Yes he is young and will have have ups and downs. But I think some are forgetting just how good he was, both in the league and Champions League. For me he is our DM.

11.) 19 Feb 2024
19 Feb 2024 10:37:28
Don’t forget Bajcetic, John. He has the potential to be a top quality player. I would say along with Bradley he is our best youngster.

Agree with Alonso and Markp08. Nothing is a 100% certain, but let's keep Bajcetic in mind, and keeping his pathway open when he is up to it. Having 2-3 players deep for the DM position is more than enough; we have Endo, Mac Allister and Bajcetic.

13.) 19 Feb 2024
19 Feb 2024 12:10:22
TBH I'd actually forgotten about Bajcetic!

Always grateful to read your match reviews, Ed.
At full strength, do you think Trent gets back in the team as a right back? This is not meant to be inflammatory, but I’ve been so impressed with Bradley since he came in - he is better than Trent defensively, and teams aren’t trying to target him despite his inexperience. Trent is difficult to leave out because of his quality, but where does he go from here?
On a side note, Endo should be a contender for fans’ player of the season if he keeps up these performances. A brilliant debut season so far.

{Ed001's Note - I think Bradley stays at right-back and Trent moves into midfield.}

Thought grav played well when he came on as well. Bit of physicalty to his game which he will need to continue and improve on if he wants a career in prem.

Toney has made himself look an idiot but the club haven't helped. he's being treated like he's come back from sickness!

17.) 19 Feb 2024

Bajcetic would thrive under Alonso.

Who does Trent go in for if everyone is fit? Szlob? I’m not sure he does. Don’t get me wrong I think Trent is a massive talent and surely must play. I just do t see where. I agree Bradley plays right back. I think he endo plays DM. So Trent can really only play where szlob plays? Unless we change formations? Great problem to have (assuming szlob and Trent are fit obviously)

Brilliant one, Ed01. Really solid game from the team all round and Gravenberch impressed me a lot. He was actually focused on doing what he is asked to do ans an 8 as in, plug the gaps, press high, know when to press and when to drop etc. Hopefully, he can kick on.

Macca and Endo were brilliant. Not bothered too much about what each players lack cos I don't think Endo is being asked to do what he lacks the quality to do. We play to his strengths and he is unlocking MAcca in the attacking phase where he took his goal like a CF would. What do you know? Just learned he used to be a striker.

As for the way Brentford play, I saw a stat saying that we committed 18 fouls while Brentford committed 4. I was shocked and then, you reminded me of how much their players were flopping to the ground the moment an LFC player walked past them. Pathetic. As for Frank, who ever wants him to replace Klopp should keep him well away from my club with the absolute dross he serves up atm, end of. Toney? Chelsea and/ or Arsenal are welcome to him.

Good review, Ed. An excellent win and professional performance despite the setbacks.

The injury crisis is really quite concerning now. I have no idea what is going on but the number of players we have out at this critical stage is insane. We cannot afford any more.

Anyone who suggests Frank as a remotely decent option to replace Klopp needs their head testing.

Thanks for the article Ed, and very well done.

I have one question stemming from it. Elliot has been a real super sub. As you said, he always provides a burst when he comes on. He's great I'm that role. Do you believe that he may look to move on at some point to get more time on the field?

{Ed001's Note - not for now, no. For him, right now, he is living the dream playing for the team he supports.}

No more breaks for you ed01. Our title is dependent on these great reviews coming quickly. Great stuff and thanks for the article. Always love reading them.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, I will try and make sure they keep coming in that case.}

Thanks for this Ed. Great read as always. First game I missed all season due to family event and no I won't stop watching games because we won.

Very very pleased to hear Gravenberch played really well. He will very much be needed in these next few weeks with injuries so hopefully he kicks on from what sounds like a promising performance.

{Ed001's Note - oh dear, so you may have been holding Gravenberch back with the weight of your expectation then?}

25.) 20 Feb 2024

Ed01, @Davey does not hold back on Gravenberch, man.

Thanks Ed!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate. Harvey has done a few interviews this season addressing that and basically said that too, as clearly the media are trying to push him to move.}

I think Trent next to MacAllister with Slob infront is our best fit for midfield going forward.
