Just watching the City v Madrid semi. Madrid are a shadow of the team that destroyed us at Anfield. Shows the gulf in class between City and Madrid and the bigger gulf between everyone else and City. This is so worrying. Madrid will get massively stronger once Jude and M'Bappe sign in the summer. But no one else will get close to City in Europe . The only hope for football is City finally get properly punished if they have broken the many many rules they apperently have. But that does not seem to be something that will happen. They will just carry on signing huge players for huge money and saying they actually only cost 40 million.

Whenever we don’t spend big we say money doesn’t buy success but then on the other hand we say City bought all of their success.

On your point though Kim I think Real are still a quality side but are being outplayed tonight by another quality side.

Arguably the 2 best teams in the world and both have spent huge amounts to get there.

As much as it pains me to say, City deserve to win it. They have arguably been the best team in Europe for a few years, sure made from burning dinosaur bones, but athletically deserving non the less.

That’s the problem we have. Assuming we now sort the midfield which would have put us on a par This season, it will count for nothing when they all strengthen again in summer.
In a way we have to have 2 summers in 1.

I can’t see it, so I think we’re looking at 3 years until we’re in these sort of games again.

They aren’t a shadow of the team who destroyed us at all. We were just that bad and have been that far away from city this year. We did what city did to them in the first 20 mins but ran out of steam. Madrid have had a result like this coming for a couple years. We had more than enough to beat them last year as well but bottled it imo.

RM are the same side that always beat us but this Man City side are just too good for them. Some on here think this City side is no where near previous City sides. They need a rethink.

@Gandalf, I agree. Sure they can buy whoever they want but they still have to perform (compare and contrast with Chelsea, as an example) . They are a class squad.

RM play the same way all the time and didn't play any differently to the way they played us. We were such a shambles that it didn't look like they broke a sweat esp. at Anfield. City deserved to win, end of story.

Ed025. They are indeed a fantastic team. No doubt about it. And entirely because of the "money thing". Why not give the other teams their "money thing" too? ?.

They are a fantastic side ed025 no doubt about that but built on breaking numerous rules along the way though. Hopefully they get their comeuppance.

Obviously envious of their success but some paint pep like some genius, he spent about 400m on fullbacks and it looks like he is going to finally break his CL curse.

Hopefully Milan can do Istanbul 2.0 but it looks like they'll be huge underdogs.

{Ed025's Note - they are the best team by far WYred but there will always people saying their success is tainted, its not fair but quite a few on here were clamoring for that type of owner when it looked like FSG might sell, now i dont know whether its a case of sauce for the goose sauce for the gander...or people who live in glass houses mate, but the game is crooked of that there is no doubt..

Is right ed25 it's about time people shut up about what they do off the pitch and start talking about how good they are on it. They are absolutely outstanding to watch.

Ed025, they are a fantastic side, but there has to be a part of you that is a bit bitter since Everton will get punished and City get away with it. It frustrates me at least. It really isn't a level playing field in my opinion. Rules for some and not others.

The whole City debate will always be filled with cheating. as that is what they are accused of

BUT, putting that aside for now, City were marvelous last night, especially in the 1st half.
Madrid has not been destroyed like that in a long time - City gave them a football lesson in that 1st half

If that was a Liverpool performance, we would be talking about legendary status for the team.

This will be classified as an end of an era for Madrid - they will rebuild, they will be back. For now though, City will enjoy the feeling and rightly so, as even I enjoyed that display

Whatever has/ is happening behind the scenes, that's a story for another day.

City "should" cruise to the treble now, and I hope they do it - just to take the fact away from Utd that they are the only ones who achieved the treble.

Rather than throw accusations at City, I’d rather we just get our own house in order. Regrettably I’ve no confidence in that happening and I thing city are just going to run away with the league again and again over the next few years.

Ed25 I would say it's just jealousy from not just our fanbase but every fanbase. When united were on top people were jealous, Chelsea people were jealous now city it's the same again. Every winner will be controversial IMO.

That's it Ed25 when it's blatantly obvious there is cheating going on it is just hard to swallow - especially when you see teams like Derby hit with sanctions and points deductions and strong rumours that something similar will happen to Everton as well - City just out-lawyer everyone, must be so frustrating for teams that have these FFP rules actually rigidly enforced against them

I'll give you all a laugh - I was arguing (as I'm known to do lol) on FB on a City thread. Fans were claiming how well commercially they were doing compared to other teams and quoted Social Media figures to prove these claims - a simple Google search showed these claims and quoted figures to be simply wrong tbh, but one poster criticised them, citing they had spent 7 billion since the 2008 takeover and that was hardly fair was it

A City fan replied to this criticism saying that 'if you break it down per year, it's only 470m. And that's nothing when you look at the improvements they've made to the Training Facilities, Stadium and Surrounding Areas' - so, 470m a season is nothing lol and they have actually spent far more than this was the coherent argument, swear you couldn't make this up!

Hey, if Liverpool had half that 470m to spend in the summer I would be delighted.
