Going by various rumours it’s looks like our main targets are Mount, Nidicka, Gravenberch and a back up keeper.
I think they are achievable but would love Bellingham as well but think he’s out of reach.
Would everyone be happy if was the outcome of our summer transfers.
Don’t reply with a list of 6 or 7 players coming in it’s not going to happen.

No. A serious amount of investment is needed into this squad. Injury prone aging team with our best midfielder being 18 years old.
Squad padders like Mount and Ndicka won’t be enough.

It's still all speculation as far as the Bellingham situation is concerned. Madrid may have fired their first salvo, but ManCity and LFC are not going to exactly sit there and just watch. There will be twists and turns.

There are days where I think Bellingham is worth the amount being asked for. And other days I think, "wait a minute, 2 midfielders at 60 million each would more than solve our Keita and Ox problem". But what I am sure about is that it will be a tremendous loss of face for Klopp if he doesn't manage to get Bellingham on board. With all the media circus that has been created, it has raised expectations sky high (has the club been telling TAA and Hendo to post photos of themselves with Bellingham or do you blame that on the media entirely too? ?) .

There are lot of good free players available this summer.
Also low cost high value palyers
Ndicka for CB
Rabbiot for CM
Lavia for CM

And let's use our budget for bellingham.

4.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 04:36:10
We should avoid both Mount and Rabiot as they’re nowhere near good enough and don’t fix any of our midfield weaknesses.

5.) 31 Mar 2023

I just think we should lower our expectations.

Proper Arsenal kind of days where you are targeting the leftovers instead of the “A” list players. Best run club apparently with no cash in hand. It’s a joke people are on board and accepted mediocrity!
Ndicka won’t push neither Konate nor VVD which means we are at the same place where we are today.
Mount is the mirror image of AOC / Jones.
I don’t even know who the other two are and what they are going to offer!

8.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 10:23:29
And look where Arsenal are at now? Sitting comfortably at the top of the table. Not doing too badly despite not buying "A" list players, eh?

Ndicka would be a great option for us, I feel. Definitely an upgrade on Matip, Gomez, and Phillips and would give VVD a rest every now and again without a huge drop-off in quality.

I agree about Mount, in that I don't know where his best position is. Doesn't look like a CM, and not fast enough to play on the left of a front three. Still, he works his socks off and is also an upgrade on any of our midfield options. Maybe Klopp sees him as somewhat similar to Wiji?

And you must be living under a rock of you have not heard of Rabiot or Lavia. They've been mentioned on this site a couple of times alrdy.

Lavia is performing well for a
struggling Southampton team. Still very young at 19 but we alrdy have Baj who deserves time in the first team.

I've never watched Rabiot play but he is on a free. Only issue I see with with him is his over-protective mum.

Capital income what do you think our summer business will be?
I’m just being realistic based on money available and competition from other clubs who can offer champions league.

10.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 10:53:06
Harry?

Ndicka would be a far better option than Matip who, let's face it, is declining and seemingly always has a niggle or two these days. Plus he's on a free - sell Matip, bring in money and replace with a very good younger option on less wages - sounds good no?

Mount and Rabiot are both very good midfielders who, if we're being honest, would both walk into our midfield this season. Rabiot is on a free, surely a good option? I quite like Mount myself, but Chelsea might well price him out of a move - but hardly the mirror image of Jones is he? Also Ox? Hey, if we signed Mount and he was playing like Ox did before his first big injury, I'd be happy with that. I actually do think he would be good for us

In terms of 'serious' investment, the big two for me would be Bellingham and Gvardiol - both together and we're talking over 200m I think - with investment and player sales could we afford them?

Player sales would certainly bring in money but also free up wages. Some of those already confirmed leaving are on inflated salaries, so those savings would help as well

I think we could afford both top targets, but we still need players on top of those two - the likes of Rabiot and Ndicka on free transfers is surely good business? Promote a few of the youth ones as well:
- Clarkson and Morton could cover the minutes Ox and Keita play?
- Bradley could be used to cover/ rest Trent?
- Doak could be used to give Salah a break from time to time, whilst then giving valuable first time minutes to Doak

I agree we need investment and new players. I've suggested two massive transfers, 3 free transfers and an injection of youth as well for extra cover and rotation options - that would give the squad a real refresh wouldn't it?

Clee Red

Define money being available! It’s a joke, this Club is huge, posted record turnover and revenues and people still think we are beggars in transfer market! When are we coming out form this poverty exactly?

Summer plans
Gvardiol (World class center back who will elevate the team to a new level just like VVD did 5 years back)

Bellingham (Need not say anything, will one day become the greatest English men ever to play this game and let’s hope he is red)

Kone / Caicedo - Monster of a destroyer! Reminds me of the great Mousa Dembele (Spurs) . A proper unit

A proper DM (Ugrate) - the man is a tackling machine!

That’s all we need actually! 4 world class players and we are walking this league!

12.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 12:09:09
I agree with the positions we need to fill but that’s that’s over a £400 million investment, the owners won’t sanction that spend, they are looking to sell or for investors or are you happy for the club to be loaded with debt.
All the major purchases have come off the back of sales.
There is money I’m sure but not to the extent that a lot of fans expect.

13.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 12:35:39
I'm not sold on Gravenberch or Mount. The would not be my options.

Ndicka looks pretty good and free transfer so I'd take him to concentrate funds on midfield.

I think we need an athletic powerhouse of a DM/ CM. Personally I want two of these types to just get after it in midfield. I don't know where Kone is going but he was my first choice. Caicedo is on the expensive side but personally I would spend the money on him if Bellingham is not possible. I also like the look of Fofana in Monaco but Ed saying at the moment interest is elsewhere in him. I also wouldn't mind McAllister as an option.

So Ndicka, Caicedo, Fofana for me will do nicely.

31 Mar 2023 12:39:01
I agree with everything you’re saying about finances clee. But the calibre of players has to be from a higher pool mate
Or else what was the point in not signing a midfielder in January? We could’ve signed a couple of these stop gaps in midfield and Walked 4th easily.

15.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 13:11:14
Bill you said “Clarkson and Morton could cover the minutes Ox and Keita play”

I think that’s a bit harsh mate to right both young lads off and say they’ll get no minutes ?.

Clee

Do I wish the club to be loaded with debt! I don’t know. How about FSG sell up and move. Manchester United is loaded with £700 mill debt and are looking absolutely fine in Transfer market with people lining up to buy the club.
I am giving you names that will take this club to the next level!
We are not winning the next league title without massive spending! It’s as simple as that!

{Ed014's Note - United owe almost a billion and have spent almost a billion and they’re still no nearer to winning a title.

A couple of astute signings and you’re more likely to win it before they do!

Some of the drama lama’s on here are a little unreal! ?‍♂️

You are right, Ndicka at his best will push Matip. But Matip doesn’t start and that’s where it ends! He is a cover and I have no problem in adding him as a 4th choice. We need a starter. His name is Gvardiol!

What exactly am I missing here?

18.) 31 Mar 2023

Except Arsenal kept on spending until they won the league (this years most likely) unlike us who stopped it 5 years ago and then started balancing the books!

You cannot win the league in England without massive spending. Please feel free to prove me otherwise! I ll wait.

Capital Income, for me Ndicka is at the same level Konate was when we signed him. I agree he's not an instant starter. However Virgil needs someone breathing down his neck and all our other centre backs are injury prone and better on the right. Ndicka is a huge upgrade on Matip, Phillips, Williams and Gomez.

I fully agree Gvardiol should be the priority target but it's pretty clear that is Bellingham. So I expect us to be planning on more cost effective alternatives so we can throw everything at Jude. Free agents like Ndicka and Rabiot. Players with a year left like Neves. Good players who won't break the bank. We can't spend another €400m in one summer. It's just not realistic given our lack of financial muscle.

You can bang the drum about world class players all day but at Liverpool we tend to make players world class. Aside from Thiago who else have we signed under Klopp who was considered world class prior to them joining? I'm not sure Kone, Caicedo or Ugarte are world class either by the way or that they ever will be. Gvardiol and Bellingham are close if not there already and yeah they'd be dream signings but I think you'll be disappointed come September if you expect us to spend €250m on two players.

20.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 15:23:03
@Capital, and look at the players who made an impact in their side and how much they cost. They spent big previously and failed but recently, they spent wisely. And that is the key. They opted for Trossard over Mudryk and look at the difference each player made to their respective teams. We need to spend within our means and that means being savvy with our signings. Things rarely end up well for teams who overspent chasing success. Just look at Leeds, Bolton, Portsmouth, and the other clubs which tried to do that and ask yourself if you would like Liverpool to risk going the same way.

21.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 16:38:00
Conversely "Things rarely end up well for teams who under spent chasing success". Like LFC this season for example?

22.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 17:22:34
First we need to come out from the poverty @MK. Stop feeling sorry for the owners who are demanding £5 billion on an asset they purchased for £300 mill.
We have once in a generational manager and we give him freeness to challenge Manchester city who are upgrading Kalvin Philips (a player they signed 12 months ago) that’s the level we are in today.

We were going nowhere untill we signed Ali and VVD. So your argument about we make stars is utter tosh.

The club needs to spend and spend heavily Thanks to ignoring the areas for ages! This wouldn’t be the car head we signed couple of MF’s and CB’s in the last two years! We did not. Don’t put that on anyone but the board!

23.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 18:38:55
Harry, Matip pretty much started every game before he got injured? Be honest, he was the starter with VVD, then Konate, then Gomez

I think our best cb pairing is VVD and Konate atm - Ndicka could rotate with either and give a solid starting 2 cbs - I agree with Adam, he's probably at the same standard Konate was and a much better option than both Matip and Gomez

Personally, I'd love both Ndicka and Gvardiol. Any 2 of the 4 would be solid enough imo, but Gvardiol is going to be special and would be ideal as the longterm replacement for Virgil. Short-term, it allows us to keep and rotate/ rest VVD, manage his minutes better next season - if he still looks in decline, then sell next season. If he returns to the level he was at, we have a great mix of cbs. Plus, it's been said that both Gvardiol and Ndicka can cover left back so Tsimikas could potentially be sold

In that scenario, how much would the sales of Tsimikas, Matip and Gomez bring in? Add Phillips to that and how close would you be to the fee for Gvardiol?

Adam, again I agree. There is always a desire for world class players but if we're honest it's the solid players that are needed - I'd love us to sign both Bellingham and Gvardiol. Big money, but could be offset be player sales and investment. Further signings, the likes of Rabiot and Ndicka on frees would give us very solid players and instantly improve the team.

Other, more affordable options would need to be considered if we cannot afford what i've suggested - hell, Salah didn't cost 100m and look at his returns each season.

You keep blaming the board for not signing platers but they don't choose the players to sign, Klopp and his team does. And there has never been any indication that Klopp had had any of his targets refused by them. He wanted a top class keeper and defender and got Allison and VVD.

The lack of signings the past few seasons were on Klopp and his team. As the Eds have mentioned, we could have gotten a midfielder in the summer and in Jan but they chose not to act. Again, the owners are not involved in the day-to-day running of the club and do not choose which players to sign.

You talk about the revenue but fail to talk about the operating costs of the club. Maybe you should take a look at that too before deciding if the owners really are the ones blocking all those funds from being used.

He sees things we'll never see.

Totally agree Rigsby.

There seems to be a popular idea that the more you pay the better the player is bound to be. Yet the same people will - rightly imho - tell you that one of the most expensive players we’ve ever bought would be the worst player they’ve ever seen at the club…….
