ManU offer deadline tomorrow is good for Liverpool as whoever doesn't win will see us, like it or not, as a lower priced decent second option. Likely to flush out an option or two.

{Ed025's Note - so now you are uniteds bridesmaids 1jj.. :)

Qatar bid in for United.

I can’t believe they put themselves up for sale at same time as us. I know we don’t need to announce interest and they do but it just feels like they are going to get rich Qatari owners and we’ll get fk all. This will impact the next 10 years. I’m desperate for Klopp to have as much money as City, Chelsea, Newcastle to spend but it just seems like we’ll be left behind.

Qatari group have bid. This is not good news at all. United with debt free spending power is a frightening thought . They will really be a super power again.

Did United actually impose a deadline for bids? If they did, why did they do it? I’m genuinely interested in why they would adopt the approach.

Watch them buy Bellingham, rice, oshimen and killian . and debt free. I shiver at the thought. We need huge huge cash now just to compete. A complete overhaul needs close to a billion investment. who wants to buy us? Whoever it is, please please do so this side of the summer!

Out of interest and one for the Eds. The media seem to be reporting things which suggest Man U have a plethora of potential bidders but no takers for us. Now I appreciate the media's knowledge is far from the full picture but if that is the case I'm genuinely wondering why? Both clubs are one of the 2 most successful British clubs but on paper Man U seem the worst option. They need significant infrastructure investment (we dont), is well behind us in business marketing aspects, has a larger amount of debt and we recently overtook them in annual revenue I believe. It genuinely confuses me as whilst we need a squad overhaul Ten Hag will want funds as well, plus both clubs are located in the less than desirable mid West. Is there any reason that I'm just not seeing?

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in both clubs and some of that interest is the same. Manchester United is furthger ahead in the process than Liverpool - but there remains significant interest in the club.}

If FSG sell they sell if they don't they don't. Unless any of us become billionaires overnight and could afford the club we can't influence what they do. No point in getting worked up about it.

Have just seen that if Al Thani (sorry don’t know first name) buys United then they will still not be anywhere near the likes of Newcastle and City in terms of wealth

They’d still be way off us

I don’t know how true that is though.,

It might be all for nothing, because, surely they’ll have to abide by fair play rules now won’t they? I imagine there will be a lesser massive spending scenario occurring after the disaster of Man City. Providing Man City are punished significantly. Just throwing a little counter balance to going with such “upstanding” potential owners.

Hi Ed002,

Hope you are good.

Apologies in advance if you had covered previously. In terms of being put up for sale, Liverpool had announced this first, then shortly after Man Utd followed suit. Was this a coincidence or was it that the Man Utd owners thought it would be a good time to compete with Liverpool for potential suitors as it was in the pipeline in any case? It's surprising to hear they are ahead of Liverpool in the process as we announced before them but I guess it's not as straightforward as that.
Good to get your thoughts as always on such matters to educate me. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Not it was no more than a co-incidental timing.}

FSG were only up against one state owned club and won 1 title in over 10 years they haven’t a hope against 3. Left Klopp short time and again hopefully gone by the summer window and we can properly rebuild.

Lincoln City Fan, but always look at the these rumour site, looking from outside, your owners are starting look worse than the Glazers, the fact they believe that some will spend £2Billon at the club, and let them decide how it's spent, not the investor is unbelievable. honestly these are the cretins of football.

Crétins of football? Shallow thinking. If they sell partially, they'll still maintain majority. Therefore, majority voting power, and they decide what is done with whatever money is brought in. And if they sell fully, then it'll be with the understanding that the new owners commit to certain things for the club and the community, contractually. This is no different then what happened and is happening with the Boehly consortium at Chelsea.

Stone, mate you are not wrong, they will be the super power. Let's face itnthey have spent insane amounts as it is but being debt free whilst doing it its not a nice thought.

Man Utd are a money making machine. Under the right owner with no debt and no interest to pay, they will be a massive force to be reckoned with. That’s before we have a wealthy owner that might pump some of his own money into the club. Great for them, not so hot for us. Off course buying the correct players etc but a bit like Liverpool they would eventually get that right.

If there is an ever increasing number of clubs with massive amounts of money then there will be an roughly even distribution of overpaid ‘elite’ players with the net result that teams who have shelled out massive amounts of money might not actually win anything ….

As a wise man once said “I believe the children are our future”

Rather than play Monopoly why not continue with our growing youth policy? There look to be some exceptional young talents with bags of potential, who knows we might even have a manager who could mould them into a formidable team (he’s done it before ?) .
