And there we have it! The transfer window hasn’t even been open 24 hours and the harbinger of doom James Pearce has released an article claiming we may not be able to afford 2 more midfielders! We’ve signed Macallister for an unbelievably low price and already we’re counting the pennies!

I don’t care what I get called for posting this but this simply isn’t good enough for one of the biggest teams in the world and a team who had the third highest revenue in the footballing world last year! Let’s face facts, the owners need to go! They simply cannot compete financially with the teams around us and we are simply going to fall further and further behind the longer they are here.

Everyone will say "the transfer window hasn't even opened yet, let's wait and see what happens"

Just like we did in the last two summers when we ended up with one senior signing and half the canteen staff being sold to recoup the costs.

If Jorg Schmadtke comes in and we end up signing nobody then I think it’s a straight 2 horse race between him and Arthur Melo for LFC employee of the year 2023.

#Worksmartnotworkhard.

Didn’t know Pearce was on our recruitment team? What, he isn’t? So you mean everything he says is guess work and trying to justify his job. God this knee jerk rubbish is tiresome. I’m going to enjoy the summer and wait and see what happens personally.

Not sure what the surprise is?

5.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 12:30:37
@1jj knee jerk? It’s been about 4 years since we’ve actually had a decent summer of strengthening several positions! If you think that’s acceptable then enjoy the europa league!

I don’t think fans realise how bad this could get! Let’s say we don’t strengthen sufficiently this summer and we have a bad start to next season, klopp could be gone by Xmas and if you think there’s anyone else who could do what klopp does with the financial restraints he had, you’re living in a dream world!

6.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 12:39:12
didnt we leverage future income on signings and contract renewals in seasons pasts. Not being in the Champions league will also have an impact.

7.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 12:42:01
Not quite knee jerk, more like "knee moving very slowly over the course of several years of the same old spiel"

8.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 13:05:20
Let’s not forget we were hit worse than any other club in world football during the C.V..

I’d like to see us pay off 50 mill of the stadium loan over a sparkly new toy in midfield.

9.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 13:25:00
When buying a new car do you start negotiations with " got an absolute wedge in my pocket pal, in fact enough for three of these! So what's the lowest you'll go? ".

10.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 13:51:20
It’s also not what the article says at all - just that we have a budget, and we shouldn’t believe we will be signing all of the midfielders we have been linked to.

11.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 14:24:45
I actually can’t believe there’s this much hysteria on DAY ONE of the transfer window.

Bearing in mind we’ve already signed one very good player in Alexis Mac Alister with ed002 telling us of interest in other players.

12.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 15:12:21
Ah JK at it again. People want to constructively improve the squad which it evidently needs and you act like a Top Red and refer to it as wanting a new toy. This supposed moral high ground is laughable given the abomination of last season.

13.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 15:17:54
Another post where we confuse 'revenue' with 'profit'. We could of course magic up money by borrowing it from somewhere but that's how clubs fail. The owners should be lauded for trying to run the club sustainably TBH, it's pretty obvious that some clubs aren't doing the same.

14.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 15:22:19
I remember before last season and fans on here were saying we didn’t need to strengthen our midfield, how wrong were they?
Midfield still needs strengthening, Henderson isn’t good enough, Thiago can’t be relied upon and the jury is still out on Jones.

15.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 15:44:06
Frodo apologies. Maybe just pay off 49 mill of the stadium loan then and keep 1 mill for a down payment on a another Arthur Melo loan deal on Aug 31st.

16.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 15:47:13
Peg, I also remember lots of fans on here saying the complete opposite, myself included. in fact, I distinctly recall saying I worry we will lend up needing to replace 3 midfielders at once unless we do. The problem is, I, nor any other fan, has any sway on what the club does so it is all completely irrelevant of he said she said.
From what Ed002 has said, it sounds like the club are actively trying to sign more than one midfielder, so I guess it is a case of wait and see. Recently the club have been quite good at doing business early, so I guess we should have a better idea in the next few weeks of where we stand.

17.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 16:58:19
I agree stuie, I’m just trying to point out we’re going into next season at the minute in a worse state than we did last season. Hopefully we carry on strengthening the squad.

Transfer fever in full flow.
All over a rumour.
Quality reading!

So we’ve gone from shouting about how we’ve won the lot and being 1 of the best clubs in the transfer market and having a great net spend and not having to spank millions to get the desired results .

Now wer rubbish the owners need to go and unless we get a Middle Eastern owner and every player we sign is almost 100mill wer gunna drop down the league .

Just need to calm down on here a bit some people

Nothings ever as good as it seems
And
Nothings ever as bad as it seems

We played some absolute terrible football last season and almost sneaked top 4 I fully expect us to be a lot better from the off.

14 Jun 2023 19:01:06
Barella looking like Newcastle bound.
Those fans saying how naff he was on the back of the UCL final getting their wish.
Him and Bruno Guimeres in midfield looks way stronger than ours currently
I can see us proper struggling next year unless we get this window exactly right, it has to be bang on.

Nothing worse than transfer fever on a transfer website.

I’ve not been this outraged since I visited McDonald’s and found out they sold hamburgers.

{Ed025's Note - love it JK..

22.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 20:20:55
Pearce is no where near the club anymore.

23.) 14 Jun 2023
14 Jun 2023 20:25:08
The OP wasn’t actually a transfer rumour, having bought a World Cup winner before the window opened the OP misread an article by a journalist and decided to denigrate the club and then all us usual suspects jumped in with our own usual opinions.

Nobody is outraged - it’s way, way too predictable to be outrageous.

24.) 14 Jun 2023

FSG out and McDonalds in!

{Ed025's Note - maybe thats why you signed...Big Mac?..

15 Jun 2023 01:00:49
Dont think the fans realize how bad this can get.

Like food banks bad, you mean?

It always amazes me how people lose perspective of things in this website. Like most fans would be ready to swap some decent business owner for an undemocratic regime with a deep pot of money in a hearbeat. No questions asked.

No wonder things can get really bad.

15 Jun 2023 01:14:24
this isn't transfer fever. this is using transfer fever as an excuse to drive your own narrative about the owners whilst having a tantrum.

Somehow we've ended up with 9 senior midfielders and a forward line consisting of, I dunno, some useless guys like Nunez, Jota, Diaz, Salah, Gakpo, Bobby. Did we sign all those guys 4 years ago and then did nothing since?

I think you're way too invested in this. I get the passion but now you're relying on a James Pearce article to support your mental health? need to go for a walk brother.

29.) 15 Jun 2023
15 Jun 2023 07:36:03
Spot on, Faith. The OP is quoting some bro who is known for writting clickbait rubbish who according to those in the know, has next to no contacts at the club, to make a judgement on our transfer activity. Now, I don't know if he misread the articl BUT I find such conduct pathetic.

@OP, we all know Paul Joyce is the ONLY credible journalist the club uses to put info out about what the club is doing or not doing and YET you read James Pearce's clickbait article, a guy who has less knowledge than us on this forum about LFC transfers, and yiu are using it to have a whinge? Really?

Relax, bro. James Pearce is a non entity on this topic so I propose you go read Paul Joyce to get actual info if again, that is your actual goal. Peace.
