As much as I’d of loved bellingham. £115 mill total spend on a transfer fee alone not inclusive of the vat, agent fees etc is just crazy.

Once in a generation talent or not, one bad injury and it’s money lost.

Mac allister may not be Bellingham but if we can sign 2/ 3 other players of that quality who are going to be trained by Klopp, then I’m delighted.

Remember what Mane and Salah cost… £30-35 mill each.

Its £88m and would only reach £115 based on performance related add-ons (if reports are to be believed) .

Its all well and good giving slah and mane as examples but you could just as easily throw virg and Ali in the same discussion where we spent top dollar on our top targets and were arguably the signings that turned us into genuine title contenders.

No point crying over spilt milk, Bellingham has gone to Real and nothing will change it. That said I think its very short sighted and we are missing out on a generational talent that has the best part of a decade of developing even further in front of him.

The way Mac Allister's fee has plummeted throughout the day it's looking like he'll be a free transfer by this time tomorrow!

You never read my OP I said £115 mill total transfer (I. e inclusive of add ons)

However the £88 mill upfront isn’t a true reflection. You have vat, agent fees, and numerous other charges to add in so the “initial” £88 mill is probably more around £110 mill initially not including his wages for the 5 years.

3 average does not equal 1 world class as we can’t play with 13 men. We can only play with 11 meaning for turam kone and alexis to play hendo fab and thiago can't you might be able to argue that’s an upgrade but it’d be a huge debate. However fab thiago and Bellingham is infinitely stronger than before. What we’ve allegedly gone for is quantity over quality, a cup run over a title, a relay not a marathon. If and I say if we do sign say 3 midfielders .

No one seemed to mind when we spent 75 mill on Vvd all them years ago.

We didn’t get Bellingham for whatever reasons and there’s nothing that can change that now. He’s gone to Madrid and we now move onto our next targets. Hopefully we can get them and it helps us improve next season.

Tchouaméni last year. This year Bellingham.

7.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 17:25:36
VAT, Agent fees, add ons, wages??, everyone looking for reasons to excuse us pulling out at that price. The ONLY excuse is if the player picked Real over us, that's fair enough but if not and we pulled out at that price its very disappointing. Could the owners have not built up the kitty with a few bob for just one summer? they own LFC for Christs sake?.

8.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 17:42:14
I’m not bothered about missing out on Bellingham.
The annoying thing is we wrote a full season off for him, and we didn’t even make UCL to get him.
It’ll take us a few year to get back to where we was because of it, but I’m all in for the Ride ??.

{Ed025's Note - me thinks you tell porkies LFC8.. :)

9.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 17:46:29
So is there no agent fees, VAT and blah blah for Mc Allister deal @OP?
For that sum you might get 10 midfielders. But their combined output wouldn’t lace Jude’s talent.

{Ed025's Note - im a massive fan of jude DK, but im also a big fan of MacAllister so think you have still done well, but imagine the 2 of them together in a red shirt?, pep would need plenty of imodium i would expect mate.. :)

10.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 17:55:15
Jude at what point did he pick real over us? We where never in for him - ???.

11.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 18:12:18
For whatever it’s worth KloppKop I agree with you. If he’s the generational talent everyone thinks he is then that fee will almost certainly go to the higher end, and yes you’re correct, one ACL and it’s back to square one.
Thiago misses half the season, and Fabinho went missing for at least half of ours ( I think he picked some form up toward the end of the season) so if we’d bought Jude it would have been a case of asking him to carry the can for other two midfielders.
Kone, Thuram and Mac is 100% a stronger midfield than anything we’ve been able to scratch together and I’ll fist fight anyone who says otherwise ?.

12.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 18:23:15
Jezza so World Cup winner MacA is already average according to you - your argument has no validity after that statement. I bet you can’t wait to lose our first game so you say how average our 3 new signings are. Embarrassing.

13.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 17:00:07
I think he is worth every penny. I wouldn’t put it down to the club clutching the purse strings, though. I think he must have decided on Madrid months ago and let everybody know, which is why we swiftly moved on. No other club was pushing to get him in the end, which tells me they knew it was a waste of time.

14.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 18:29:30
Have we announced the signings of Kone and Thuram yet?

We’re no furher along with them than we were with Bellingham 3 months ago.

Probably best to wait to see how the window actually plays out.

15.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 18:33:10
Not my money so I wouldn't be bothered. Should of signed the lad in my opinion.

16.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 18:35:25
It’s always the case with “fans” because we bought the £35 mill player - he’s average and crap. But if we bought the £115 mill player - he’s a world beater.

But if we lose the first 3 games after blowing our load on the £115 mill player where still amazing, if we lose them with the £35 mill player - where crap.

And when did I say there wouldn’t be agent fees on £35 but it’s not going to be anywhere near the £ 250 mill plus Bellingham will cost real over the next 5 years!

17.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 18:48:12
You got a point Ed025. But it did not take 10 minutes for us to turn into bitters! Now a few are going to find all the minute faults in him ????.
If we land Mc, Thuram AND Kone then we have done fairly well, If not we are once again winning the “NET SPEND” “BALANCE THE BOOKS” trophy again this season.

{Ed025's Note - I think you will do well next season DK. City will still win the league of course. But CL qualification looks nailed on mate..

18.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 19:01:21
To cut a long rant short, we lucky to have one of the best managers in the world who looks to have his mojo back. we have to just trust him . YNWA. JFT97.

19.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 19:08:50
If only we could sell Coutinho again for 130 mill then we could have got Bellingham and Mac Alister.

Personally I think Mac is going to be a very good signing. Mac and Bellingham would have been great signings alongside Trent, Baj and Jones that’s the midfield rebuild to go alongside the more experienced midfielders that will stay in the squad.

We spent 60 odd mill on Nunez last season and that fee will continue to rise and there were agent fees and taxes. Nunez could have torn an acl first game but that was never mentioned.

Nunez could very well turn out to be great business but I think Jude will definitely turn out to be great business and he would have for us also.

{Ed025's Note - i just cant get out of my head the picture of naby Keita with klopp and Jim Bowen saying..."heres what you could have got" standing next to jude..

20.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 19:38:18
Where 250m coming from though Kloppthekop? Have your side of the argument but don't invent imaginary extra fees to back it up.

21.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 19:43:09
It’s very simple, he picked madrid.

22.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 19:43:33
Ed0025 ? brilliant. We got ourselves a Kieta and a Carroll for the same price of a Jude.

{Ed025's Note - now thats what you call a BOGOF JK.. :)

23.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 19:55:43
The bitter rants from many in our fan base saying/ hoping Jude will fail at Madrid cos he did not sign for us is what I find pathetic and of poor taste.

{Ed025's Note - i have not heard many oli but even 1 is too much mate..

24.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 20:01:44
Yeah disappointed big time 89m or 115m whichever. that's a miss out on a player that wanted to come here. mcalistair is a good signing but him and jude together wow.
Jude really was the 1. And it should of happened after a year of chasing him. As ed says that was the statement needed.
Cheapskates. This could backfire massively.

{Ed025's Note - that will depend on who else you sign Magico, but i must agree those two together would have been massive mate..

25.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 21:19:31
The only silver lining I can't take from this is at least he didn't end up at city. I bet FSG are relieved because if city had snapped him up for £88 mil after getting halaand on the cheap we probably would've started the season with protests and walkouts regardless of who else we sign.

26.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 21:36:56
Jude - are you confused £115 mill fee plus agent fees and tax - £140 mill easily

5 years wages at 400k a week - confirmed

= £245 mill total spend does it not? And that’s without increasing his contract through extension which means a pay rise and some more incentives….

27.) 07 Jun 2023
07 Jun 2023 18:37:01
Only going with what the common consensus was Kloppthekop. I realise even 88m is a colossal amount of money to me and you but in modern day football its about an Anthony, Mudryk or like Ed said 8m more than ol Harry. At the 130m it was reported that Dortmund were demanding i understood backing off even if i was disappointed. But for the price Real paid im sick.

{Ed002's Note - How do you know the price that has been agreed to with the achievable add ons?}

28.) 08 Jun 2023
08 Jun 2023 00:21:37
The worst thing about the Bellingham saga is people making up their own narratives and passing them for facts.
Like apparently we sacrificed this season to sign Jude
??.

29.) 08 Jun 2023
08 Jun 2023 09:19:09
If that's not the case faith. then we sacrificed the season for fook all.
