Is deducting 10 points off our neighbours just bullying a smaller club? What aren't City and Chelsea getting the same treatment?

There is zero chance anything happens to Man City, at least in terms of appropriate punishment for their clear and prolonged rule-breaking. This is the single biggest issue with state ownership, far more so than unlimited funds. Punishing City to the degree they deserve could sour relations at too higher a level.
It’s appalling.

2.) 17 Nov 2023 13:12:18
I’m not sure so forgive my ignorance, but it looks as if Everton were a lot more compliant with the investigation than other charged teams.
So it might have been easier and quicker for the investigators to come to a conclusion?

3.) 17 Nov 2023 13:50:06
I think you’re right Mikey. The only lesson here is don’t obfuscation is more rewarding than cooperation.

4.) 17 Nov 2023 13:52:40
Mikey bud let’s not kid ourselves. Premier League are dragging the City case out because they ain’t got a backbone. We ain’t talking about one or two charges here, we are talking about 115 charges with apparently clear evidence of corruption. And now City announce record profits, which is very convenient. I mean, come on does City think we are stupid enough to believe they generate that amount. The league has to show some bulls and relegate City if they are giving Everton 10 point deductions. I want to see consistency for once. But you just know City will get a fine and talk their way out of 115 charges!

5.) 17 Nov 2023 14:16:57
That's the thing, Mikey. Everton complied with the investigation and admitted that they screwed up so as much as many may think the punishment may be harsh, it was prolly reduced cos they participated in the actual probe.

We all know that City did not, have not and clearly will not do so hence, they could get the library thrown at them should the PL have the fortitude to follow thru should there be a guilty charge. just my take.

6.) 17 Nov 2023 14:21:01
100% Alonso - titles, trophies vacated and drops in divisions like what happened to Juve would send the appropriate message but it'll never happen - a fine and a slap on the wrists it'll be and then honestly, what stops the next state run club doing the exact same thing or even worse? Absolutely nothing.

7.) 17 Nov 2023 14:36:02
100% Bill. All of what you said plus a 3 year transfer ban. Only then will City learn to operate like other teams and not cheat consistently. It will also send a message to other owners to think twice before attempting to bend the rules.

8.) 17 Nov 2023 15:10:49
Bill, even a drop in division and fines did not stop Juventus from new infractions a few years later. That's the sad thing about the fact that it is now mostly a pure business with "sport" as just one ingredient of many. It's all in the hands of the bean counters now, who basically calculate risk and weigh the potential damage against the potential gains and make decisions entirely on that basis. Right or wrong is hardly a consideration.

9.) 17 Nov 2023 15:23:45
Alonso, I fully agree that there are definitely people in the upper echelons of the PL establishment that really do NOT want anything to happen to City if they had their way. Allegedly, it was the same thing with UEFA when they went after City so let's see if they have the fortitude to come after them should they be guilty. Interesting times, indeed.

10.) 17 Nov 2023 15:56:26
I agree OliRed. People will say stop the conspiracy theories but it’s clear something is going on. To what degree, we may never find out. One things for sure is the Premier League have put pressure on themselves to severely punish City. Will it actually happen is anyone’s guess!

Surely the money Salah earns from sponsorships will drop if he leaves Liverpool and that is rumoured to be more than his salary.
