Afternoon Eds, Seen dzeko has apparently said to pjanic he doesn't see himself at city after january, is there any chance of Liverpool having a look and as for midfielders I know we are looking at hughes but could koke be of intrest / viable, so just wondering if you think any of these are possible and whether they would consider a move to the famous LFC.
thanks in advance.

Stevie8

{Ed002's Note - No and no.}

Hey Eds,
Is there any chance Liverpool would consider Kevin De Bruyne given he wants to leave Chelsea, also is el shaawary by any means available or would he even join us given the oppotunity (Suarez leaving)?
Thanks in advance. {Ed002's Note - If De Bruyne were to leave in January it would only be on loan - so no. Arsenal, Real Madrid and PSG would all like to strike a deal with Milan at some point but El Shaarawy is generally happy where he is and Milan have no intention of selling unless a very significant offer is made. Those quoting him not playing might want to consider his injuries. Previous interest from Monaco and Spurs remains unconfirmed and Napoli dropped out of the running over the summer when they signed Callejon, as did Manchester City when they signed Jovetic. Do not be surprised to see an offer from Dortmund, Galatasaray or just possibly Chelsea. I am not aware of any confirmed interest from Liverpool at this time, although perhaps if Suarez leaves they could look to him.}

Hey Eds, is there any chance there could be a possibility of signing Douglas Costa? Thanks in advance. {Ed002's Note - None, sorry.}

Hi Eds,

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on Fabrizio Romano and his reliability as a journalist?

Thanks in advance.

Stevie8

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea sorry.}

1.) 11 Sep 2020 14:30:28
Thanks Ed, a lot of people hang on his every word, so I thought I'd ask mate.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what he has said.}

2.) 11 Sep 2020 15:28:44
Nobody comes anywhere close to Ed02 on transfers. he was the only guy who told exactly why teams are reluctant to pay the money on Sancho (the huge agent fees) until Fabrizio broke that out recently.

Hi Ed,

I was just thinking about if you buy a player from abroad and pay monthly instalments or performance based fees, would all fees be paid at the exchange rate at the time of original purchase or when the instalments/ fees are due?

Only asking because the exchange rate can fluctuate a lot and could change the price you pay for a player by millions if its a big money transfer.

Thanks in advance for they reply.

Stevie8

{Ed002's Note - Players are not purchased using monthly based fees. If a price is agreed - say €10M - that is what has to be paid. The exchange rate doesn't change the price of the player at all. You need to think your question out again.}

1.) 23 Jun 2016 13:54:22
Great question Op. I don't know enough about how payments are structured but they aren't always paid in full and up front so I take your point.
If a player was bought at €10m and €5m paid up front and €5m in a years time at a differing exchange rate then wouldn't it impact on the costs unless I am missing something?

{Ed002's Note - You are missing something. The player is sold at a fixed cost at the time - the value does not change. Liverpool would simply move the money from a € account when the second payment is due.}

2.) 23 Jun 2016 14:02:25
I know the € price won't change but €10m @ a 1.25 exchange rate would be £8m whereas at 1.45 exchange rate would be £6.8m. So if you agree a €40m fee paid quarterly would each €10m be at the exchange rate when the deal was originally struck or when the €10m is to be paid? Sorry for the question if it's daft I would just like to know how it works. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs maintain € accounts and, often, $ accounts.}

3.) 23 Jun 2016 14:16:04
Large contracts between business in different currency are near always hedged, meaning purchases a contract for x million on x date and the exchange is guaranteed between certain ranges for the future.

Any gain or loss would be treated as fx gain and not assigned to the asset/ player contract cost.

Basic knowledge of it.

4.) 23 Jun 2016 14:44:25
It does change the GBP equivalent price. You have to ask the right question to get the right answer. Our Eds can be very specific. For example if I now ask the Eds who Liverpool are looking at presently, I will get a very lovely red comment back from them ;)

{Ed002's Note - The relevance of the equivalent GBP being what? It also changes the Turkmenistan Manat equivalent price - again it is of no relevance.

Again there is enough here to rationalise why we don't discuss finances at all.}

5.) 23 Jun 2016 15:02:26
Thank you for the reply Ed002 the € account explained it perfectly. No idea why there was any need for all the further messages and abuse. Much love! X.

6.) 23 Jun 2016 17:20:18
Surely they just bang it on a Halifax clarity card, don't pay any fees for using it abroad 😂.

Hi all,
Just curious as to how many posters have seen texeira play more than 5 or 10 times?
I just find it confusing as to why everyone is screaming about him and saying we should pay almost £40mil when most are going off hear say and stats (in the Ukrainian league) .
I understand excitement of a new signing we all get it but do we really need him? Is he really that good? I'm not saying he isn't because he's been decent the handful of times i have seen him but £40 is a lot of money for big risk, unless someone can tell me otherwise and that he is genuinely a top quality play.

Its because were all desperate for success, £39 million is stupid money. Bentekes transfer was stupid money however and that was done in the summer with plenty of time so I guess the club is just stupid.

2.) 26 Jan 2016 06:50:29
I'd seen Benteke at least 30 times and that didn't help me one bit.

3.) 26 Jan 2016 07:52:44
Just looked down the first 2 pages of the transfer news and the first 3 of the banter Steve8 - where is the 'everyone' saying we should pay £40m for him? Because I've seen about 4 in total.

4.) 26 Jan 2016 07:53:20
Unfortunately this is the present day prices for players better get use to it.

13.) 26 Jan 2016 10:18:36
If Klopp thinks we need him then I will trust his judgement.

14.) 26 Jan 2016 13:36:39
We may need him BUT not at 40m. we already have a 32m striker that we don`t even know if he`ll be here next season and we had 3 years to scout him. i say, walk away right now while we can because 40m for a 26 yr old in a poorrer league is madness.

15.) 26 Jan 2016 15:24:02
I've never seen him play, his youtube video's look good, I have no idea if he is value for money. Can only say there is no guarantee that any player will be successful but that Klopp's transfer record was pretty reasonable at Dortmund so, yeah, I know nothing!

happy with the Pato Signing Ed002?

Stevie8

{Ed002's Note - Someone has stayed on longer in Brazil to make a decision on Pato but it smacks of panic after not getting the preferred players - hence the very low, if it happens, fee.}

1.) 20 Jan 2016 22:49:24
Seems to be a lot of panic buying from teams ed, surely just sticking with what teams have until summer is best option rather than buying for the sake of it, Wenger gets rinsed for his buying philosophy but he sticks to his guns and only buys if the right player is available.

Have money will spend an panic buy nice one chelsea.

{Ed002's Note - It is not that, it is a case of struggling to bring in the attended targets whilst one striker is rather crocked and another may well leave. The money is low in the big scheme of things if it happens. The person dealing with it has to get back to Europe in the coming days so it is sort of a now issue.}

Say what you want about Sturridge and selling him but my god he has absolutely unbelievable footballing ability.

Stevie8

1.) 02 Dec 2015 20:28:37
Why sell him if he can overcome his injurys he's truly world class and i think klopp will only help him improve the futures bright the future is sturridge!

Think the original poster may have been joking, saying we could get 3 decent players with the money as we did Suarez, Sterling etc.

I think ToonRed thought meant Lorient would be extremely willing to let Gurriero go mate.

What do you make of Guerreiro Ed? From what I have seen he is very good on the ball, very very fast (off the mark too), can run at players and has a good end product. I have to say only seen him play lb a couple of times as every time I have seen Lorient play this season, he has played left midfield (Le Goff lb) . So what is he like as a lb? First thoughts would be a bellerin type full back, he looks very frail. Is he a pace gets him out of trouble style full back?

Thanks in advance Ed.

Stevie8

{Ed001's Note - I did mention this on the banter page, I have not seen a lot of him at full back, but he just reminded me very much of a slightly better version of Moreno. Still poor defensively and relies on pace, but better delivery going forward.}

Don't mind it taking long, it's our most important position to recruit, has been since the window opened and I would rather them take as much time as they need to extensively research that position and get the right man in because we haven't been blessed with great left backs for some time.

How can anybody disrespect 002, not only is he spot on constantly, he's a Chelsea fan who still gives Liverpool fans all the info, 002 knows football and when I say football I mean transfers, players, finances and how it works in general. I have became a much brighter football fan due to 002. Would just like to say thank you and it is hugely appreciated by most.
