Anyone have a recent update on Brewster? Is he out for the season? And does he want to stay with the club or not as i know he was at the very least considering options.

Higgins

1.) 07 Mar 2018 16:25:57
check the rumors page!

2.) 08 Mar 2018 05:14:28
Heres what i read "After a sensational WC U-20 Brewster wants to go to a club that will integrate him into the first team and give him the platform to make on his success. He has eyes on Dortmund as they will be set to loose a few players in summer and he feels will give him better opportunities. "
Sadly he is long term injured for now (till May'18).
I think with him not in foreseeable plans at LFC, he will look to move for better opportunities. LFC are looking for players and every tom and harry gets linked. With LFC looking to fight for top honors next season i feel opportunities for youngsters will remain restricted to cups and deadwood matches. I may add this seems to be the story for most bigger clubs. But i'd love to see wilson brewster and woodburn more in first team, whatever may be the risks and consequences. Faith and taking chances is what gave us the likes of gerrard, owen, Fowler and even recently TAA. we haven't had a player, a Mr. Liverpool that defines this club since ages.
Of course in hindsight many won't agree with me to waste a season trying to find out whether these young players have it or not and of course the senior proven players won't like one of them taking their spot either so yea football management is a Bi**h.
anyhow i do feel brewster, woodburn, wilson have enough talent to make it. but they need 10 good games.

3.) 08 Mar 2018 09:30:43
If you’re good enough then you’re old enough. Phil Foden is a good example, Pep trusts him in big games like Chelsea last week and that was a big game as they are going for the league and we’re playing the champions. If these kids are good enough then I think Jurgen has shown he’s not afraid to play them. Just because Brewster has won an U17 WC doesn’t automatically make him ready for the first team unfortunately.

4.) 08 Mar 2018 15:58:26
Red GT-Foden came on in the 93rd minute!

5.) 08 Mar 2018 16:48:23
Foden played as starter agasint Basel and I belive he played 90'

6.) 08 Mar 2018 18:12:39
Mortolfc- He did play 90 minutes in a dead rubber against Basel you’re right but contrary to what RedGT claims he has not been trusted in big games for City, infact he’s barely stepped foot on the pitch in the premier league.

7.) 08 Mar 2018 19:01:52
Guardiola trusts his youth so much that in the recent game away at Burnley he only named six subs rather than put a youth player on the bench. Phil Foden played 1 minute against Chelsea.

8.) 09 Mar 2018 04:53:49
It is with all big clubs. No one really plays the youth. only smaller clubs play youth.
As for Guardiola if he was incharge of barcelona in 2006, messi would not have seen the light of the day.

{Ed001's Note - simply not true, Pep would have played Messi because he was the perfect player for the system. It is not a problem when you are Messi level, as you will always get a chance. The players who are not at that level, the likes of Suso, Origi, Solanke for instance, they are the ones who struggle for regular football. With no decent quality at reserve level, as teams send out so many players on loan there is no real top players at reserve level any more, youngsters need to be in the first team to make real progress.}

9.) 09 Mar 2018 12:52:21
Do you think limiting the amount of players teams can loan out would improve reserve level football and help youngsters develop more over a period of time rather than loan deals? Just interested as I’m not convinced that the loan system currently is very successful.

{Ed001's Note - personally I would prefer to cancel the loan system altogether as it is affecting lower leagues by tipping the balance of power towards teams that just happen to have a mate in a big club etc.}

10.) 09 Mar 2018 14:51:13
Cheers ed. Yes can’t be fair if teams get better players due to contacts with large clubs etc. Wonder as well if more younger players would break through at clubs if reserve teams were stronger all around. It may help to keep youngsters grounded too.

11.) 09 Mar 2018 18:24:19
Ed001 what do you make of Munich James loan for 2 years
And Costas 2 year loan move to juventus.

{Ed001's Note - in what way?}

12.) 09 Mar 2018 22:51:31
Maybe the loaning of players should strictly be for clubs that are in financial trouble?

13.) 12 Mar 2018 01:16:29
I think Can will develop to be a better player than he is today. That is why, Klopp wanted to keep him. His performances are not consistently good enough, but he has proven that he can be great at times. What I love about Can is his passion when he plays. Yes, he can give the ball away but at least he makes an effort to try to win it back. When he cuts out the mistakes and improve on his control, then he will be a massive player for any club. Physically, he's big and strong also. just a tad slow. Honestly, I feel that he's going to leave Liverpool. Good thing is, at least he will be leaving with dignity as he honoured his contract and has his right to choose the next path for his career.

18 Dec 2017 23:45:04
Surprised no one has mentioned this or perhaps they have dismissed it as the nonsense it probably is but saw a rumour on the beeb, Real Madrid in for Salah with Bale coming the other way.

Higgins

1.) 18 Dec 2017 23:49:01
Why even ask hahahaa.

2.) 19 Dec 2017 00:57:41
Why would we want someone who plays for 1 match then goes on sick leave for 5?

3.) 19 Dec 2017 04:28:59
Outstanding hope that last pint was a good Un! Now off to bed jeez.

4.) 19 Dec 2017 08:20:33
No thanks. Really not interested in over rated dross like Gareth Bale. They want a world class player in a swap deal, they can send us one in return!

5.) 19 Dec 2017 08:44:19
Not to mention I’m assuming bales current wages are astronomical, and would probably want an increase to join!

I could only see United reallly actually wanting to go for him. An excellent player but not something we need but more so can afford!

6.) 19 Dec 2017 09:42:51
that rumour is about as likely to happen as Michael Owen ever becoming an interesting commentator.

7.) 19 Dec 2017 13:20:45
Don't the medical staff have enough on their plate with Sturridge!

8.) 19 Dec 2017 13:30:19
I think they might struggle to offload him. If unt and Chelsea decide they don't want to take him he might decide to stay at Madrid picking up his not insignificant wages as I think they would be the only 2 teams that might be interested that can afford to pay him. Obviously city could but they don't need him. PSG and Barcelona will have no interest, I'm not even sure Chelsea would want him if they hold on to hazard and bring lemar in. He really needs man unt to do him a favour and 80mil is a lot of money for someone who doesn't have a great injury record.

9.) 19 Dec 2017 13:31:39
Maybe they send varane asensio and kovacic (all sp) for salah? Lol maybe would consider it then haha ridiculous.

10.) 19 Dec 2017 13:44:52
Few of things about this one, firstly that Bale is injured a lot, he is not getting any younger (I think he is 29 or so? ), he has publicly stated on social media that he wouldn't ever want to play for us years ago so he is as welcome here as a taco in an elevator. I agree with Man on the Moon, Verane, Asensio and Kovacic and its a deal.

11.) 19 Dec 2017 14:41:40
We almost signed Aubameyang until he extended his contract 😂.

12.) 19 Dec 2017 15:53:57
There's a quick way to filter these rumours. If the player already gets paid over £150k a week we are not signing him, we don't pay those kind of wages same as spurs. The trouble is players like sterling, walker, young, Cahill get paid more than our cap nowerdays.

11 Sep 2017 12:30:26
Heard Ings picked up an injury anyone know if it's serious hope it's not knee related 😔.

Higgins

1.) 11 Sep 2017 12:58:13
Precautionary I believe.

If you get the chance to look at the highlights on LFC TV, take a look at Yan Dhandas curl on that free kick that was just saved. wow. Nice goal from free play too, looking very useful and we have a lot of talent in young attacking players at the moment with him, Woodburn, Ojo, Wilson, Brewster etc.

Also think Matty Virtue is a name we could hearing more of before too long. He's playing great football in a box to box role, might be due a shot in cup game alongside Grujic.

2.) 11 Sep 2017 17:39:57
Eds wat do u think we could have a potential replacement for emre can in grujic big unit of a lad with engine good passing good heading eye for goal maybe could work on tackling, hope he gets more minutes looks useful.

{Ed025's Note - keita will be the replacement for can hailstones and let me tell you he is a massive upgrade, grujic is half decent but for me will have to improve a lot to make the step up, im not saying he cant but it would be a lot of pressure on the lad and for me a couple of cup games would be the order of the day for me mate..

3.) 12 Sep 2017 07:31:20
Are we talking city can or arsenal can? Because he was sublime against arsenal. I feel if he could hold that form he would be giving klopp a wonderfully hard decision come next season (if he stays)

4.) 12 Sep 2017 16:04:33
I think we're talking about Emre Can, aoe.

5.) 12 Sep 2017 18:39:28
Touché mk. We're also talking about poor old Danny as well. Hope it doesn't knock him back too much.

6.) 13 Sep 2017 05:09:41
Just saw footage of Ings training with the first team yesterday. Injury can't have been too bad then.

7.) 13 Sep 2017 17:21:51
you watch a lot of RBL ed025? I can't personally say I've seen much of Keita but I'm buzzing that we've signed him. Is he that good?

{Ed025's Note - well i think he is Tj, i think you have got a cracker there and for me hes a cross between kante and iniesta, very intense and gets up and down the pitch all game but not only is he defensively sound he can link with the midfield and forwards and will score goals, i have to admit im very envious mate..

8.) 13 Sep 2017 18:35:49
Yeah Keita is already a worldy, IMO. Every time I've had a chance to watch he has looked like the best player on the pitch (a trait Mane shares high kicks notwithstanding) . Would prefer to see Can stay also but I have always thought Keita is his direct replacement. Hopefully Emre has a great season either way.

{Ed025's Note - hes a top top player amerigo..

9.) 14 Sep 2017 05:14:24
He looks effortless when running with the ball. Has a good work ethic and looks like he has a competitive streak. Gets the ball and immediately tries to promote it forward. One caveat, he does seem to try and pull off the miracle pass a bit too often in my opinion - sometimes at the expense of a sideways pass which would be the smarter option.

10.) 14 Sep 2017 08:28:54
Tell ya wat ed 025 we needed him yesterday hendo is shot wid all the injuries, can looks like he had too many pies, gini good at home but goes missin away, is there any chance he can come in january heard there was, still tryin too get me ead round our signings in window, No defence!

{Ed025's Note - he will stay at RBL for the season i expect hailstones..

27 Feb 2017 12:38:38
Blast from the past. Has liverpools interest in Konoplyanka gone now Ed? I assume it has, don't mean to throw random names at you either thank you in advance.

Higgins

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Liverpool interest from Liverpool since the start of 2014 (more than three years ago) and it would be fruitless as he is moving elsewhere in the summer.}

1.) 27 Feb 2017 15:48:58
Thanks for the update Ed I was unaware he was already off elsewhere enjoy the rest of your day 👍🏻.

10 Nov 2015 22:01:01
Eds, Real AG or anyone else that may know, what is the situation with Brad Smith. Is he a Liverpool player or not? I thought he had left but I read in another thread he is still a Liverpool player but in contract dispute. Be interested to know what the dispute is and whether it is something that can be resolved with Klopp now in charge and he may be given a chance to impress or if it is essentially too late for that and the bridges have been burnt.

Higgins

{Ed001's Note - he is still registered to Liverpool. He was initially frozen out after refusing a new contract.}

1.) 11 Nov 2015 10:20:17
Thanks Ed001. Are there any other young LB at the club that could be considered for first team action? I am totally out of the loop since LFC TV stopped being free.

{Ed001's Note - from what I have been told, no, left back and centre back are the two areas most lacking in the near future. Academy wise I mean.}

2.) 11 Nov 2015 12:35:49
You surprise me Ed001. I thought Cleary, Randall and Brewitt were all highly thought if - especially Cleary.

{Ed001's Note - not close to the first team though mate, they are a couple of years away. I was talking about players being ready to step in now.}

3.) 11 Nov 2015 12:41:55
Brad Smith's is a club matter I think. Regardless of who the manager is, the decision has been made to not play him. I assume he or his agent has really pissed of the club. The same goes for Enrique.

As for left backs, Joe Maguire is the natural choice, but even when he was at U18s and making a step upto the U21s competition free, he just didn't look that particularly convincing. He has bulked up over the summer, and I haven't seen any U21s matches this season, but up to last season, there was nothing to suggest he was ready, and was looked upon as one of the weakest players on the pitch. Sorry I have been brutal here.

4.) 12 Nov 2015 01:55:26
I was under the assumption Lloyd Jones was before his loan, training with the first team and somewhat close when Rodgers was manager? And in all fairness we've had a few centre backs from our youth team play in the first team, the problem was Rodgers put Wisdom and Kelly at RB and they're now stuck there.

{Ed001's Note - your assumptions are all wrong. Lloyd Jones had been close but then a closer look said he needed first team football as he was nowhere near ready for us, hence the loan. Rodgers was not responsible for putting either Wisdom or Kelly at right back.}

fellow reds, which Dembele do we hold interest in according to Macca? I take it is the youngest one who only recently transferred? Not the beast from Spurs? Also what is the latest on the Ox? Cheers all next year is our year! ;)

Higgins

1.) 29 May 2018 20:20:25
Dembele from barca. not spurs or celtic.

2.) 29 May 2018 21:02:45
I thought he had agreed to sign for Arsenal?

3.) 30 May 2018 06:49:37
Ox done his ACL in his knee and will be out for atleast another 9 months I would say. And 12 months before he fully gets back I'm afraid.

19 Jan 2018 15:40:41
Leading on from another post in a What if scenario, who is the most talented player with the world at their feet who didn't make or were held back by injuries? Good example would be Danny for us but I'm sure there are others?

Higgins

1.) 19 Jan 2018 16:04:50
Michael Johnson at Man City has to be one of the saddest declines ever.

2.) 19 Jan 2018 16:35:23
David Bentley. I thought he was the next David Beckham. As for Liverpool we have had our fair share of "Unfulfilled" Talents.
Ryan Babel, Joe Cole, Harry Kewell and a guy not many will remember called Frank McGarvey who was touted very highly, add to that that he was signed by PAISLEY just never fulfilled his talent.

3.) 19 Jan 2018 16:36:28
Myself.

4.) 19 Jan 2018 16:40:05
Wayne Harrison, very sad story touted to be a top player as a youngster but career finished before it started. Rob Jones, sure he would be one of the most capped England fullbacks save for his injury.

5.) 19 Jan 2018 16:40:28
Paul Gascoigne, could have been a superstar if he wasnt a drunk. Had the potential to be one of the best players on the planet but squandered his talent sadly.

6.) 19 Jan 2018 16:46:29
Great shout KPM100. Always remember Rob Jones. Souness gave him his debut against UTD. He was amazing. Shin Splints i think is was finished him.

7.) 19 Jan 2018 16:55:58
Michael Owen :)

8.) 19 Jan 2018 16:59:22
Johnathan Woodgate could have been a Maldini but for injuries. Rooney overrated ever since his brilliance as an 18yr old, the next gazza my arse.

9.) 19 Jan 2018 17:07:57
Ledley King.

10.) 19 Jan 2018 17:19:00
I'm sure Ed025 will remember Billy Kenny of Everton. Absolutely amazing young player. It wasn't injuries that held him back though, it was his "lifestyle" that was "questionable".

{Ed025's Note - he had it all when he was young EP, the world at his feet and the talent to go all the way but he blew it...or sniffed it would be more accurate, like many before him and since got caught up in the trappings of notoriety and lashings and lashings of dosh mate, very sad..

11.) 19 Jan 2018 17:30:58
Phil coutinho. apparently he thought money is more and lead to a decline in his performances.

12.) 19 Jan 2018 17:39:17
Javier Saviola.

13.) 19 Jan 2018 17:48:27
I remember playing against Billy Kenny Epic. He was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch with such natural ability. I know he played with Mcmanaman and co and was considered better at school level.

14.) 19 Jan 2018 18:05:24
Igor biscan.

15.) 19 Jan 2018 18:06:11
Joking. Remember his face when he scored that goal. I think it was his only one.

16.) 19 Jan 2018 18:38:27
dale jenning, liverpool come through at tranmere tore apart league one, apparently city utd and chelsea wanted him. joined bayern for around 3 million. he done his druciate i think and really never settled. during his injury he suffered depression and struggled to adapt to the german culture. he failed to look after himself and ate takeaways and junk food. eventually he was released and signed for barnsley were he struggled. he ended up in the welsh league for a season but he has now been a free agent for over two years and works as a plasterer in north wales. sad story really as he was one of our own.

17.) 19 Jan 2018 19:02:43
A lad called Leon Jeanne (pronounced Jan) I played in the same team as him and Craig Bellamy and he was amazing, ended up getting signed at arsenal youth team, got heavily into drugs and was released, went on to play for qpr and Cardiff city, drugs again, cocaine in particular, had him released again, played for a lot of Welsh teams when he should have been in his prime, last I heard he was in prison for dealing, believe me when I say though, this lad was magic on the ball, Bellamy would admit that Leon was a better more skilful player early on and should have made it to a top team but where Bellamy took his opportunity (he was a bit naughty growing up but focused everything into his football) Leon screwed his opportunity, actually, multiple opportunities for the powder. Sorry for the long post but it's such a shame as I do believe he could have been world class.

18.) 19 Jan 2018 19:21:51
Agreed Ed025 and Madsocks.

His name is always the one that springs to mind when one of these "best youngster" questions comes up. I know a couple of people who have played against him in amateur leagues after he blew his pro career and they say that he was still a completely different level to everyone else playing.

Isn't he jonJoe Kenny's uncle?

{Ed025's Note - im not sure EP mate..

19.) 19 Jan 2018 19:35:22
Paul Gascoigne was tragic.

20.) 19 Jan 2018 21:06:34
You are forgetting the one that houllier touted as the next zidane, Bruno cheyrou.

21.) 19 Jan 2018 23:35:52
Balotelli. World class talent but the effort and brain of a sloth.

22.) 20 Jan 2018 01:07:51
I second Rob Jones, what a shame.

23.) 20 Jan 2018 12:03:44
Danny who?

Rob Jones for me, would of been one of the best right backs in world football had it not been for injury.

I know this wasn't asked but I can't believe nobody ever mentions John Wark when people mention great players for Liverpool, think he scored 25 goals from midfield one season and wasn't a regular starter.

24.) 20 Jan 2018 17:31:36
has to be gazza, his story is heat breaking, could have been right up there.

01 Sep 2017 08:36:26
Eds and all thank you for all your hard work. Can I ask has Markovic left or not?

Higgins

{Ed001's Note - still here, though Spain's window is still open.}

31 Aug 2017 14:08:37
Forget all these irrelevant and unimportant posts. The most important thing that needs to be discussed right now, is the Ox's haircut silly enough for LFC or does it just pass as normal? I'm on the fence with this one.

Higgins

1.) 31 Aug 2017 14:19:48
I thought that thing on his head was a silly hat.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 14:21:18
Known as an alpaca cut in the trade.

3.) 31 Aug 2017 14:22:55
It's too conservative lol.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 14:34:38
Needs another colour or 2 to really fit in.

5.) 31 Aug 2017 14:43:24
Maybe a blonde line for the link up with mane? Or he could try this mess that firmino had last year with the ponytail. That was something special. :D.

30 Aug 2017 18:59:38
Probably in the minority here but happy with the Ox. He hasn't developed as expected at Arsenal but who has? He may surprise some people I reckon if he can stay fit. We now have an ambundance of pace in our side and play more to his strengths with our style of play. Plus keeps our quota of Homegrown talent in check.

Higgins

1.) 30 Aug 2017 19:06:57
I totally agree with you mate, all these people saying that Ox is a waste of money are not talking sense, if Liverpool had not signed Ox then people would criticise FSG for not bringing him in.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 19:07:43
I think FairPlay to ox. He has turned down £180k a week to stay at arsenal for a lower (albeit I wouldn't say no to it! ) salary because he has a massive desire to play for us.

Can't fault him for that, let's all get behind him as he is now one of our own :)

3.) 30 Aug 2017 19:10:53
I agree with you mate.

4.) 30 Aug 2017 19:14:16
Would I be right in say you are bullish about his signing Higgins? I'll get my coat.

5.) 30 Aug 2017 19:15:36
You might be in the minority mate but I'm right there with ya! ;-)

6.) 30 Aug 2017 19:32:41
This is turning out to be a happy end to the Oxtail. Soup gags please.

7.) 30 Aug 2017 21:07:49
I think Ox has good attributes. He has a bit of bite/ grit about him, can get around the pitch and is technically good with pace. I hope to see him go up a level or 2 under Klopps guidance regarding positioning, movement off the ball and end product.

His prescence creates more competition which is causing our squad to thrive and he will act as good cover particularly in wide areas which we need. Given the market, Ox being a decent player and Arsenal being a rival its a decent deal for the club IMO. Plus, Perrie isn't a bad bit of sort is she ; ) Welcome to AOC!

{Ed025's Note - now for the negatives...he is a very average player who could barely get in a poor arsenal side, he will spend most of his time on the bench thats when hes not on the treatment table of course..

I'd rather us unearth a cheap alternative that turns into a bargain than pay through the nose. YouTube only but he looks to be more than a one trick pony with a decent shot, trickery and can whip a cross in without having to beat a man. I know that means very little!

Is this basically the club rolling the dice and hoping the player turns out to be some thing special? Then the work permit will be easier to obtain if he is playing for his country etc? If so we are relying on Mallorca quite heavily to make the right moves with the kid too. As MK said 🤔.

I suppose there is an offer on the table from us but they don't seem to need the money and doubt they will change their mind unless we up it. We shouldn't as it can wait really with Lallana back we should be ok will take him a while to get match fit granted.
