What are your thought on Doucoure Ed1? Have not seen much of him play. Seen his name as a possibility for Fab replacement.

{Ed001's Note - Cheick Doucoure? I like him, but I had no idea he was only 23! For some reason I thought he was coming up to 30. He is a very good player, I would be happy with that signing. Also a very decent centre-back, which with our defence could come in very handy!}

Didn't know he can play CB too. Seen people say that he is very good at Lens but somehow didn't do much at Palace. But maybe that is down to the way Palace play. Who would be your pick as Fab replacement? The market for DM doesn't seem good at the moment.

{Ed001's Note - he has been good for Palace, probably their best player imo. Now I know he is only 23, I would actually have him right up there as a choice.}

Think he won a player of the year award at Palace last season - either the players award or the supporters award - so must have had a decent season. I'd take him, versatile and looks decent when I've seen him play.

I am also quite surprised at the price of £35 m being touted around!

I thought they would a lot more considering they paid £20 odd mill and was their player of the season.

Compared to the other options value for money wise he seems a no brainer imo.

Cheikh Doucoure does have that left field type signing about him. Didn’t realise he could play centre back. As long as he can put himself about and shield the defence I’m happy.

Do you think Ed1, that the original plan is to bring someone young like Lavia as Fab understudy this season. With a view for him to replace Fab next season. But this offer for Fab is too good to be turned down, which make us reevaluate our situation. We now want someone that can slot right away as the 1st choice DM replacing Fab. It also doesn't help that we might lose Hendo too this summer.

{Ed001's Note - I doubt very much that Klopp ever looks at buying players to be understudies, even for a season. He wants players to push the team on. So no, I doubt that Lavia was considered as anything other than a player for the first team from the start.}

In a post yesterday Ed002 mentioned that Doucoure had struggled with language issues. Is that something we should be wary of? Or does Nunez's transformation indicate that Klopp is a bit of a Rosetta Stone? Maybe Naby would disagree (if he knew what that meant)!
