May you rest in eternal peace 96.

I Haven't posted in a while mainly because of my anguish at how we are playing. Also I wanted to take stock and get things into perspective for a while after two damaging defeats to our top 4 rivals. It's never good to lose but the manner in which we folded against Arsenal and United was disturbing. Did you really think Roger's was the messiah? No the real messiah is scoring for fun at Barcelona. Yes he maybe he's a 'runt' according to Ed's 002 but footballing wise Luis Suarez was the second coming. He carried us last season and his mercurial world class talent should have tried to have been replaced for a like for like player not seven mediocre ones. Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing but not to replace goals with goals is criminal. Ed's 001, told us that this 3 at the back system would be found out and our upsurge in form would be temporary. Low and behold were 8 points behind a Manchester United team that are massively over achieving. If Ed's 001 invisage our limitations why can't Brenda? I for one cannot palate another season of messing around for 10 games till we get into the groove. We need to push on from the opening day fixture. I would suggest procuring some incriminating pics of Jurgen Klopp and Blackmail him to Anfield. We need to start a renaissance and go back to basics. I feel that Brenda has over complicated the issue and the players have stopped deciphering his message in all the confusion. Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson are not wingbacks. Why not play Can in midfield instead of Allen? And sure Manquillo ahead of Johnson makes sense? Even Ray Charles knows that.

By the way a 'Liverpool fan' who called the actions of two guys praying on matchday at Anfield a 'disgrace' really is an absolute ignorant bell-end. I would like you to call Emre Can a disgrace when he prays during the rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone before every game at Anfield. Was glad to read the club have taken steps to reprimand the idiot. Heres hoping we can catch city, destroy Villa this weekend and Jurgen Klopp is caught on camera by a Liverpool fan at one of Silvio Berlisconi's Bunga Bunga parties. Dream on dreamer! The Klopp to the Kop campaign starts here. GET KLOPP TO THE KOP!!!

Time to change your sign-off name mate.

2.) 17 Apr 2015 01:11:32
The owners will b foolish not to make a play for him

Peter Reid looked like he was on speed when discussing the penalty fiasco. Hilarious.

The_Brendans_Advocate

1.) 20 Feb 2015 13:38:11
But he was right about the penalty though, wasn't he?

2.) 20 Feb 2015 18:58:15
Keith, I disagree.the person who should have taken the penalty was the person that the manager said to the squad was to take it. Anyone else who demanded to take it was ignoring the managers orders.And as a professional footballer you don't do that if you want to stay at the club

I would love a Liverpool v Man Utd FA Cup final. Primarily because I think we'd wipe the floor with them because they are atrocious. Secondly i'd like to get retribution for the 'white suit' cup final (I nearly broke my back on that day but I digress). And last but not least I love seeing the camera zoom onto Fergie's face when they lose. His cheeks go a deeper crimson than they already are.

The_Brendans_Advocate

1.) Should I remind you the score last time we met?

This is the one final I don't wish to have, I don't think I will be able to watch it and losing to them in the final would be too traumatic and will ruin this season big time. They may have their issues and they are not chelsea but they are far from being a bad team and we are far from being Real Madrid either.

There is a reason why they are ahead of us in the league and it is not just the early part of the season. Other than that slip agaisnt Southampton they didn't lose for ages. Yes, we can beat them on the day, should do so at Enfield, but I don't remember us wiping the floor with any team since Suarez has gone. I really hope Arseanl will beat them though I doubt it.

2.) Fanobip

The last time we met did not show the true reflection of the game.

Sterling and balo both wasted 3 good chances each, and de gea got man of the match.

3.) I'd rather man utd than arsenal.

4.) I think the gunners will expose their flaws and beat them.
But given the choice I would rather take on utd than arsenal- I think utd will be easier to break down, or to catch on the break and nick a goal or two.
Arsenal will either be abject if we get a lucky day, or (far more likely) they'll be tough to get through, and very dangerous going forwards.

5.) Have we beaten Blackburn already then?

6.) I'd take Arsenal ahead of United every day of the week. Wenger just is too stubborn to consider the fact the likes of Coutinho, Lallana and Sterling need to be watched very closely. However that could work the other way and if Gerrard's left to hold out Alexis and Cazorla we could be embarrassed ourselves. The same could go for United though, Rooney and Di Maria taking on Stevie would not make for nice viewing.

7.) Mikey this is the Liverpool page, where we believe that we have a divine right to 9 points against leicester Burnley and Villa and that Basel are a walk in the park. who are Blackburn!?!?

8.) Bobatron

Its not that we think we have a divine right to automatically think we have beaten these teams already.

But if we can't fancy our chances of winning ma home tie against a championship team then there's something wrong.

It won't be easy cup games never are but still you got to fancy the win.

9.) What part of my post said that we would beat Blackburn? I said I would 'love' a Liverpool v Man Utd final. I was being hypothetical. I wish some of you would actually read before you start to hate. Or better still turn your play-stations off and actually go into the real world talk to girls and get a dose of life outside your bedrooms.

10.) Lavers those were 2 examples I personally commented on where people in threads were getting ahead of themselves. Look what happened in both we drew 2-2 vs leicester and drew with Basel and got knocked out of the champions league. I don't mind optimism talking about the next match and the chances of going through, But when you automatically are thinking about the next round of ties, you're being insulting to the other team I think and looking too far ahead

I have to say the site has again been engaging, stimulating and a fabulous read for the last few days. The posts have been articulate and thought provoking and the Ed's have taken the time out to reply descriptively and with gusto. Kudos to everyone! Now it's humble pie time. I have been Brenda's biggest critic this season but he has impressed me with his tactical humility in recent games and the subsequent upturn in results has made me think that he should be given the opportunity to stay but only with a DOF with a high press system. Also I think this DOF should be me.

The_Brendans_Advocate

1.) I don't see why people want a Director of Football. I think Brendan continues to do a fine job at Liverpool. This year was always going to be tough, but we have turned round our form in the last couple of months and still have a chance of reaching the top 4.

{Ed001's Note - most of the jobs a DoF would do have already been taken out of Brendan's hands, so it makes sense to formalise them into a specific role.}

2.) What you are saying is correct, but the introduction of a DoF also breeds pressure on the manager. Not perhaps by the club itself, but by the press. This in turn can put some negative attention onto the club. A DoF in England never turns out well.

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense. There are plenty of examples of it working well in England - the top two clubs in the EPL right now for example.}

3.) You mean the two clubs that are backed to the hills financially?

4.) Then you go by spoiling it all by saying something stupid like. .Ed's 001, please show LFC Londoner some clemency. lol

{Ed002's Note - It is obvious he understands very little about money being spent by clubs. Chelsea have profited from transfer each of the last three windows whilst Rodgers pisses vast amounts away and plunges the club deeper in to debt.}

5.) LFC_Londoner, u lost all credibility when u said Brendan is doing a good job. And your jibe at Chelsea is just stupid and bitter. As much as it pains me to say this, Chelsea are probably the best run club in the country. The business they conduct in the transfer market is remarkable and their sponsorship deals and other income sources are way more than LFC. In short their net spend is lower and profits are higher than LFC so please stop making ridiculous comments.

6.) Again, i'm surprised how Fsg walk away smelling of roses. Did they sanction the signings? Maybe they are as much to blame foe the debt than Rodgers? Or are they immune from any real flak? Blame the fans for Kenny being manager and blame Rodgers being left with the keys to the safe. These are high powered business men right? Or on the last seies of The Apprentice?

{Ed002's Note - FSG don't pick the players.}

7.) The_Brendans_Advocate
I think we are all on board with the high press.
That should be written into his contract.

8.) Ok! They do write the cheques so to speak. The long and short of it is that Fsg have done more damage to the club and held it back more than any one manager/ dof or player. After all the made the appointments to start with.Dalglish too old, Commoli flake, Rodgers too young, now a flake. Fsg, responsible good owners, give them time they will get one right eventually.

9.) The signings that people are complaining about are the ones that are proving to be good buys. Moreno, Can, Markovic and Lallana are all first team starters, and will be with the team for 5+ years you hope. Balotelli and Lovren are looking like poor pieces of business. Many managers will have a number of bad signings. We play the best football I have seen from a Liverpool club for many a year, and that is down to Brendan.

JW Henry take a bow. What a stunning looking Mrs you have. Take another bow because shes double fit. A tenuous link to the Spurs game because they were both in attendance. Which brings me to my point. Ibe always cuts inside and defenders still can't play him. What a talent this kid is going to be. Take a bow Jordan Ibe. And while your at it Moody Trudy Mario Balotelli take a bow. And i never thought i'd say this but for NOt bringing on the Spanish Xavi Brendan Roger's take a bow!

The_Brendans_Advocate

1.) What impressed me most about Ibe was he played with his head up and always looked to either create a chance for himself or get the ball to another red shirt. Really impressed by the lad and it will save the club a bundle of money. Can't wait for Ojo to develop into the footballer he could be.

2.) 11 Feb 2015 20:24:48
The reason Ibe tends to mostly cut inside is because he isn't a winger - he's a goal scoring wide forward so he will have a tendency to look for the shot and thus a shot taking opposition as opposed to the cross as a winger would. Having said that he also delivers some wicked crosses.

3.) He goes both ways.
The Sturridge backheel came from him cutting it back from the byline.
I think he waits to see what the defense is giving him and responds to that.
That is even more impressive for a player so young.
I would definitely say that his level of game intelligence is better than Sterling's at the same age.

4.) Completely agree jb89-90, didn't he slip the pass to Lallana for the assist to Balotelli? (correct me if i'm wrong?).

Looks a real prospect.

5.) Yes he did Mr Dennis.
He was double teamed and just slid it through with the correct weight of pass and more importantly at the right moment so Lallana did not have to break stride.
So impressed with this kid.
I think he can play anywhere on the pitch and be decent.
19 yrs old.
Frightening.
Loads of multi-purpose players in the side now.
That is what I like because they have a better understanding of each other's roles in the side.
It's close to the total football philosophy.
