Just wondering is there any specific rules in the CL that would stop us sending the under 18 team to play Midtjylland next week.?

I don't want any of our first team players involved in this dead rubber game.
We are already going through an injury crisis and this game is simply a luxury to win, not a necessity. Just give Big Divock the captain's armband and send him to Midtyjlland with the toddlers in tow.

as Per Ed002 comments above we have to find a balance as much as we want to send u21’s not sure that’s possible or we may annoy UEFA.

But if you pick 11 from your 23, does that class as a weakened team or just using the squad?

in the madness that we live in Ed. could a team announce that the squad has injuries and the squad available would be deemed to be weakened?

What is a deliberate weakened team as to what is a substantial meal. we all have our own view on it.

I think I’d usually agree that we should t play a weakened team as it can influence the other teams in the group, but this game cannot change either if our positions. All playing g a weakened team will do is add to the mi why the opposition receive as I think you receive money for each win?

It's t cheating in my opinion. The games result has no impact on anything. Midyteland cannot qualify for either last 16 or Europa. Liverpool are already confirmed group winners. It's a glorified friendly now.

Klopp should use it as an opportunity to involve fringe players. Kelleher, Rhys/ Neco Williams, Koumetio, Tsimikas, Cain, Clarkson, Jones, Origi, Minamino etc. Maybe Chamberlain or Shaqiri could do with a friendly to ease them back from injury.

If the result could affect the outcome of the group i'd say we had a duty to play some of our first XI. As it happens, literally nobody cares about this game except the sponsors. Midyjteland probably don't even want to play it.

Here’s a bunch of good reasons for you, Ed. Klopp is the manager and he picks whoever he likes from the squad, we have an injury-ravaged squad that is in dire need of a more shared workload, the game is a dead rubber for both teams - we are already through while the opposition are out - and we have a packed schedule coming up that necessitates prioritizing certain games over others.

{Ed002's Note - The club is obliged to put out a competitive team and obviously those who arfe injured are not expected to play. Other teams have schedules just the same as Liverpool's and some have worse schedules. Klopp has the opportunity to use his full squad for all games through rotation.}

I think there will be a degree of rotation but it will still be a competitive team. After all a win in the group stage is worth around 2.7m euros and money is tight.

Ed002 liverpool can play whoever they like once they are registered. Who is to judge whether player a is better than b, its the managers call and right to do so. How do Uefa decide a team have played a weaker team, its subjective.

It is rotation not cheating, no point having the squad if not going to be used, not one "first 11" players need play, chance for fringe players to get a game or at least some fitness, would only expect Matip or Fab for 45 mins each then pretty much no first 11.

whats the difference from Adrian, the more senior player, not being picked before Kelleher, is that cheating? Klopp needs to see how his fringe players cope, the 11 that will get put out maybe won't be the stars but they will be players Klopp wants to see play, All teams have done this, otherwise there is no point in squads, its like i don't get not allowing the 5 subs rule, if its that big a deal make it that the last 2 subs have to be U23's or U18'S players.
