Hi Eds, i am doing some research on possible midfield targets for Liverpool ( of course besides boring old JudeB) . I came across this little known midfielder KOUADIO KONÉ. His stats as midfield ball winner is amazing and seem to have escape radar of all big clubs, he is only 21 years old from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Does Liverpool have an interest in him? Are there other clubs keeping tabs on him?

{Ed002's Note - Manu Kouadio Kone (CM/DM) Prior interest of Milan has gone. Newcastle did approach Borussia Muenchegladbach but they will resist a sale and try and agree a new deal. RBL are keen to add Kone to replace Laimer. Bayern Munich are light on DM and CM and are looking to add Kone and Laimer in the summer. Watched by a number of Premier League sides including West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Brighton. A wildcard maybe PSG. Way down the list for Chelsea but Vivell may push for him - which could spell the end for Loftus Cheek.}

Thanks Ed 002, appreciate so much inputs. I hope we can add some steel to our Midfield soon!

Sounds like he’s quite well known to be fair Lee. His name’s come up on here a fair few times over the last few months if I remember correctly. FPF is very keen I think.

I am indeed, FootyFan. If Klopp wanted Tchouameni, then Kone is a logical plan B - and should have been so much earlier.

Of course, Klopp doesn't have much of a clue about players, does he?

@flash the red no he doesn't. He hasn't got that great of history buying players. Had to be convinced to get Salah for a start.
Far to many transfer failures with klopps input.

You can't be serious? Seriously? Show us a football manager who has a 100% success record. Or even a 80% success record! We're dealing with human beings here, not robots that you switch on and they run about doing your bidding. I'm all for opinions, but some on here are just incredible.

Pat Devlin bray wanderers. Enough said.

ArAy I'm sure the experts on here would run at 100% success rate on transfers, and do it effortlessly at that.

Nunez is a slight doubt for tomorrow but should be okay Jurgen said in his pre match interview he has a shoulder injury from the Newcastle game.

Hopefully he can score some of the chances that we created against Madrid in the CL final during last summer.

If they fail to knock RM out at least they can then go full tilt at a top four place, as premier games are the only competitive games we would have left.

Flash, I'm actually okay with experts. Why not? If everyone is as passionate about the game as I am, then I'm sure people know a lot. It's just some of the outlandish claims make you want to wobble your own head and make sure you're reading correctly. ??‍♂️.

@flash, well said, Klopp definitely knows players to buy, he bought Naby Keita, Arthur Melo and most important player of all, he loan a player Steve Caulker.

3 failures in 7 years. Not bad going I’d say.

14.) 20 Feb 2023

And he only actually bought one of those players, the other two he knew weren’t the answer so loaned them to bolster the squad during a period with a lot of injuries.

Anyone on this site who truly believes they know more about players than Jurgen Klopp needs to write that sentence down, read it 100 times and if you still believe it then book to see a doctor.

Loaned items are not bought items. Loaned items are given back. I think this distinction becomes clear at around age 10.

Well spotted Lee. You're right, Klopp is a total disaster at picking players. All the crap he signed for Dortmund, like Lewandowski.
Then the likes of Mane, Van Dijk and Becker for us. All total failures.
Right?

@FlashTheRed, guess, you are right, Klopp is best! Klopp rejected the Salah proposal from edwards, but Edward force through. Same with Lewandowski recruitment. Thqt the core strength of Klopp in recruitment is he couldn't out debate the sporting director.

What do you mean he rejected the Salah proposal from Edwards? You don’t know that, you are just making stuff up.

Karius, Adrian, Caulker, Klavan, Kabak, Davies, Keita, Arthur, Ox, Shaqiri and Minamino all turned out to be average signings at best.

I also think Ramsay, Konate and Carvalho will join that list but hopefully they'll prove me wrong.

That being said, I have the benefit of hindsight and i don't think for one second i could do a better job than Klopp. Only 4 of the 14 players i listed above cost more than £10m and 1 of them still has time to prove me wrong.

Konate?!

Still think that Liverpools best signing would be De jong. Chelski hoping to sign man city.

@ smeg head, i did not make it up about Klopp's initial assessment of Salah, please do a google. I quote to you from Tribuna website:
Jurgen Klopp was very keen on signing then-Bayer Leverkusen player Julian Brandt. However, Edwards stepped in and convinced him to sign Salah instead.

Klopp reportedly had doubts over Salah due to his struggles at Chelsea and wasn't very sure of bringing him to Anfield. Edwards convinced Klopp that the then-Roma player would be a hit with the team, urging the German to forget about the forward's poor spell in the Premier League previously. "

Yes, The Real AG. Don't think he looks good enough defensively in a back 4 and his injuries are shocking for a 23 year old. His decision making is average, he often misses the ball entirely, he tries to do too much at times rather than just clearing his lines etc. I don't think he is a long term solution unless we change to a back 3. But i hope he proves me wrong. His pace and strength would make him an indomitable force if he developed a football brain. Even then, he's made 71 appearances at club level in the last 4 seasons. It's just not good enough in my opinion. Centre backs need to be consistent. Build up a partnership. Especially in a back 4. If you want/ need to chop and change, play a back 5.

MK, I think there's the problem and answer right there, 10 of the 14 players who have flopped were under £10 million, we can't keep on with these budget buys, it has ruined us.

26.) 22 Feb 2023
22 Feb 2023 13:27:30
Yes Lee everyone knows that Brandt was Klopp’s first choice not Salah but where does it say that ‘Klopp rejected the Salah proposal from edwards, but Edward force through’, you made that up!

27.) 22 Feb 2023
22 Feb 2023 13:46:38
It’ll be Mason Mount, Sander Berge and Adrian Rabiot, to really push for that Europa Conference place next season.

28.) 22 Feb 2023
22 Feb 2023 13:57:30
@ smeg head, let's not split hairs over wording, if not we will have to hand over our argument to legal department of Liverpool Rumours. Then Klopp was asked to choose one player, his choice is Brandt. Period.

29.) 22 Feb 2023
22 Feb 2023 14:28:36
It's not about working Lee but blatant lies. Klopp didn't reject Salah's signing and Edwards didn't force it on him, which was what you are saying. Klopp was convinced by Edwards to go for Salah, which has a different meaning and implication to what you were saying. I would say that this indicates Klopp is open to ideas and suggestions from his team more than anything.

And I find it extremely ironic that you chose a well-known lawyer and politician as your name/ avatar when you can't even argue your way out of a wet paper bag.
