I think it must be a bit of a comfort thing.
Desperately trying to convince themselves that things will get better.

Personally I disagree ArAy, irrelevant of what happens tomorrow Liverpool will still be a much better team that’s in a much better place at the moment.
That could all change in the future of course, but at this moment in time Man U are way off both on and off the pitch.

I don't disagree with you Footyfan; the league table doesn't lie and if you go by that then we are clearly the better team and have been in recent seasons.
But I was thinking of the rivalry between us and them. They'll have the upper hand for this season, in this regard, if we don't beat them on Sunday.

Depends how you look at it ArAy. If a United fan tried to gloat about beating us this season, it's going to be pretty easy for us to put them in their place again by pointing out how helter skelter and ultimately disappointing their season has been.
If we take the lead and laugh at them for being a riot, then they can say "we're at our worst and still beat you".
I know what situation I'd prefer for my team though!

It’s just fun watching them trying to rationalise themselves away from being God awful.
The massive over investment in ‘quick win’ baubles and quick fixes is only made worse by the chronic lack of investment in their infrastructure.
It’s going to take years to fix and will take longer for each extra year (hopefully a decade or two) that the Glazers hang around trying to milk the cash cow.

ArAy1969 my guy, that league table is lying a bit. Utd for the way they play, should be nowhere near 6th. They have been scamming results while serving up dross way worse than when Ole was at the wheel and that is saying a lot cos Ole was serving up world class dross, as well. Just saying.
