This could be a pretty astute signing. Look forward to hearing from people who have seen him play.

If he can do the holding defensive work then he could be just what we need.

It could be a really clever piece of business. I was uncomfortable with the two lads who went to Chelsea. They were certainly overpriced and one is a guy with potential and the other had a certain McAllister to do the creative stuff…. what happened to him? Oh yes he is at Anfield…. at a crazy low fee!

30 is just a number…., there are literally dozens of players that age who are doing the business in the EPL.

At cursory glance I'm actually stoked for this Endo signing. I hope it's not everything, and I really hope we don't go for Amrabat, but Endo looks a good player who fits exactly what we need. Everyone thinks he's coming for cover but I actually think he could do the job.

I’m sure he’s not THE answer, but I can see this as quite a shrewd deal. I watched all of Japans games in the World Cup and he wanted for nothing in the department we need as far as I can tell. Always their top one or two in terms of performance. Stats look good etc.

Maybe just a late bloomer in Europe, who knows?

It’s easy to big up/ drag down a player with selective words - oh Lavia only played 25 games and his team were relegated. He is also 19, a player we clearly worked hard to sign, and has Premier League experience. Endo has zero experience in the PL, is the wrong side of 30, and has never played at a top club. I’m not saying he’s awful, but fans pretending like we just made some sort of transfer master stroke, rather than an act of desperation, should give their head a wobble. If Endo is so amazing why aren’t any other clubs in for him? And why did we try to sign multiple other players in his position before him? For a club with title winning aspirations it smacks of rank amateurishness and I don’t think I’m any less of a fan for saying so.

{Ed001's Note - so now the deciding factor is who else wanted to sign them? I mean United wanted to sign Antony, Maguire and Sancho so they must be world class then? His age is the reason he is low on the list. Amateurish would be not signing a defensive midfielder when we need one. Some of you are just whinging for the sake of it now.}

Well said Ed01 - I think he’ll be a very smart move at low risk. Adds experience and leadership to an inexperienced midfield, an CDM option which we sorely lacked (tackle stats are impressive), seems a good guy by all accounts, and could be a valuable squad player without blocking Bajcetic in the long term, or costing us so much we don’t have the finances for a big name signing if it’s on the table (Doucoure pls! ) .

Not going to turn us into league winners, but it takes a lot of pressure off what was looking quite a precarious situation.

Beckers and QV, this is where we are now. People getting embarrased cos the club did not do what they wanted. Yet they are not embarrassed about the idea of the club going to twerk for a player named Tchouameni who has repeatedly said he is not that into us. This is the type of childish petulance we are being afflicted with.

They say Endo is too old. Sorry, people cried on here that we should have kep Milner who is pushing 40 yet Endo is too old? Bonkers thinking. Some people will never be happy. We sign Caicedo? he's not worth it and cost too much. We don't sign him? The club has no ambition. It will never be enuff for these people.
