I remember Klopp saying when we signed Keita that so many people congratulated him. What a letdown!

Absolutely spot on what a disappointment, also why does jk keep starting him when we have much better options on the bench. For me I'd start Hendo Elliott and Bajetic.

He was a really decent player at the beginning with the world at his feet. I remember him impressing in the early early days. Attitude got in the way. How very human of him. I don’t mean that in a complimentary way. It’s such a shame. I really think with the right attitude he might have been worthy of his transfer. I wonder if he’d applied himself more in training might his injuries have been lesser. Might he have found form more regularly. Alas- I wish him the best and hope he can find his feet once more. Just not with us at that rather impressive wage.

They were just glad that he wasn't at their club.

Grade A flop. Sad.

@Esx, Hendo and Elliot didn't perform as well as Keita when they played in that right midfield position. On current form, sad as it is, Keita starts. Elliot has played much better up front though so maybe he can be a Salah alternative?

I agree with that Dracred. I watched the whole wolves game for the first time earlier (sadistic of me I know) and thought Keita actually played well in comparison to some other players. He missed some chances but at least he was there linking with the forward line.

I think I must’ve missed something about Keita because everyone hates him and just don’t get why.

He’s not as good as we thought he might be of course but I’ve always thought that when he plays he’s done ok.

I’ll never hammer a player for being injured unless I hear that he’s feigning injury because he doesn’t feel like playing. As far as I know Keita hasn’t done that and I’m sure he’s as frustrated as anyone that he hadn’t been able to play as much as he’d liked.

Thanks for the validation BP. I was beginning to wonder if I was completely off the mark with my assessment of Keita in that game.

But I do get why everyone is frustrated with Keita since he never fully tries during games. When I watch him in previous games, he would pull out of challenges, let his marker run past him, press half-heartedly, and is almost always the weak link in our midfield. We know he can do so much better but his lack of effort during games is hard to watch. I have to say he was better in the Wolves game though.

As for his injuries, I can't help but to wonder if it is because he doesn't train hard enough or does not take care of himself properly when he is injured. Some players, like Ox, are just naturally injury prone but for Keita, I think he is like Bale, in that his injuries are due to a lack of effort in properly conditioning himself.

Keita is the biggest drain on the squad, a massive let down who doesn't care, he gives nothing on the field except quickly rushed passes and pure panic, someone leaves a foot in on him and that's his game gone, the sooner he goes the better.

Imagine if we had bought someone else (in midfield and worthwhile) for that 50 million; what our tally would have been in terms of titles. Look at what Kante has done for his teams. Look at what Mané, Firmino and Salah (bought for less than Keita) have done for us. I don't even understand what the need for posturing is, with talks over new contracts. It's a very bad fit between this player and this club. Let him go and wish him well.
