Morning eds

Any truth in the joao felix rumours if so are we preparing for life without mo?

ESXRED

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Liverpool approach for FJ.}

Morning eds

Do you think there are issues with the fabinho/ hendo transfers and a possibility that one or both may even collapse and are we dragging our heels on incoming players because of this . appreciate all the great work.

ESXRED

{Ed002's Note - No, there are no issues.}

1.) 25 Jul 2023 10:44:03
Hendo has said his farewells, apparently. Fab is only a matter of time, as well.

2.) 25 Jul 2023 13:14:27
Good luck hendo. True liverpool great.

3.) 25 Jul 2023 13:42:49
His influence on the new additions will be missed. Great servant to the club and evidence that not all players need to be as good as Ronaldo to be great.

4.) 25 Jul 2023 13:51:34
David ornstein in the athletic just reported that fabinhos deal is in jeopardy, nothing to do with dogs, and he's due to report for lfc training in the morning if things aren't resolved .

5.) 25 Jul 2023 14:10:39
Just read the same thing, Port red - Ornstein tends to be pretty good with this stuff, too.

Strange turn of events, if it is true!

6.) 25 Jul 2023 14:13:58
I just saw that Port. Eds? Or as we were still? It also says both sides still committed to the deal.

7.) 25 Jul 2023 15:20:00
Trust in what’s Ed’s has advised, there aren’t any issues in the deal. It gets done when it gets done.

8.) 25 Jul 2023 16:03:23
David Ornstein doesn't know what he's talking about. Brazil’s O Globo asked Fabinho to clarify the matter and the paper was told that there was no problem. only general bureaucratic delays holding things up.

9.) 25 Jul 2023 16:15:16
Chuffing post office for you.

10.) 25 Jul 2023 18:56:10
Well if that deal is off, what's the reunion going to be like?

Morning eds

I know it's only just been said by klopp that we are now looking for a midfielder but I was just wondering if any of you guys had heard any whispers as to who we are looking at.

ESXRED

1.) 27 Aug 2022 12:50:19
Superb Summary ED002 thank you.

I take it the story we have reached a verbal agreement with Bellingham
is complete fantasy?

I would love otavio but from your list Houssem Aouar would be more achievable given the circumstances and the time frame we have left ourselves with.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Thanks again for the detailed information.

{Ed002's Note - Any club can reach agreement with the agent of a player over terms which is what I assume you mean. His club are not selling the player this summer.

Aouar is also available so it may not be difficult to do.}

2.) 27 Aug 2022 12:51:09
Ed0002 I think I speak on behalf of everyone hear. But you go above and beyond to produce answers to our questions and we are most certainly grateful.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome, thank you.}

3.) 27 Aug 2022 12:47:30
Haven’t seen much of a lot of those players. Llorente would be a good option. Cheers for the info ?.

4.) 27 Aug 2022 13:11:14
If at all possible Laimer would be my choice. All rounded CM with drive and stamina. Can play as a 6 or 8 even cover RM for Salah. Sadly I think he wants to go to Bayern next summer.

5.) 27 Aug 2022 13:27:20
Yeah absolutely thanks for the great reply Ed002.appriciated ?.

6.) 27 Aug 2022 13:28:09
Cheers, Ed.

7.) 27 Aug 2022 13:33:44
Excellent insight as always ed2, cheers for the updates.

8.) 27 Aug 2022 13:39:09
As always Ed002, thank you for the brilliant round up! Let’s hope something materialises before the window shuts, if only to somewhat revitalise the team.

9.) 27 Aug 2022 13:58:14
I've got a feeling it with be a left field kind of signing.

10.) 27 Aug 2022 14:22:52
Big appreciation to all the Eds and especially you Ed002 for your patience and information during the silly season.

11.) 27 Aug 2022 14:39:37
My guess is we will go EPL route or portugal with the time left. EPL experienced player won't need to acclimate to the league, portugal being the place where Micheal Edwards replacement is best connected. Klopp has best track record with players from EPL or have spend time before in the league.

12.) 27 Aug 2022 15:18:34
Thanks very much Ed02 for the update and insight. Really appreciated.

13.) 27 Aug 2022 15:54:14
Thanks Ed.
Lovely stuff.

14.) 27 Aug 2022 20:53:22
Or. it could be some1 completely off radar?

15.) 28 Aug 2022 00:05:07
Wow, you've just stopped so many of those, 'what about this player, Ed' comments now! Thanks for doing that though, it's a great help to most of us.

16.) 28 Aug 2022 01:26:57
The mystery player is Marco Asensio.

17.) 28 Aug 2022 09:11:51
The rumours page just got spicy! I heard our MF signing is Kabak on loan ;)

18.) 28 Aug 2022 10:56:22
Ed002, what a legend you are! Wow! Thanks so much for this update. Fingers crossed we can get a real quality midfielder in.

19.) 28 Aug 2022 11:05:19
Thanks for the breakdown Ed.

20.) 28 Aug 2022 12:04:34
Thanks Ed. I would swap Aouar for Keita or Ox in a heartbeat. Then again I would probably swap either of them for Christian Poulsen because at least he was available! Had high hopes for Naby and Ox unfortunate with injuries but both need to move on.

21.) 28 Aug 2022 17:25:55
Edd002 how much are RBL seeking for laimar?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware they have put a price on him per se. Much will depend on the contract situatuin and a desire to move to Bayern Munich. It would not be huge because of that but they would not want a cheap sale.}

28 Jun 2022 06:22:18
Morning eds

Are you aware of any update on Dembele, do you believe we will attempt to sign him at the last minute a d if so what does it meN for Mo.

ESXRED

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware that anything has changed from what I have already shared.}

21 Jun 2022 06:46:02
Morning eds

I've seen a rumour about a possible swap deal with naby and berella, any truth in this one? .

ESXRED

{Ed002's Note - Nicolo Barella (CM) Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have had approaches turned away. Don't be surprised of a significant offer from PSG or a further approach from Real Madrid - but Inter don't wish to sell and would no doubt demand €80M or more. Liverpool or Spurs may show an interest. The player does not wish to leave and is expected to sign a new contract. Long term interest of Chelsea has gone with the player wanting to stay in Italy.

1.) 21 Jun 2022 11:18:39
Barella is absolutely brilliant and is perfect fit for our right sided no8 position. But, I do wonder if he, like other Italians, is willing to leave Italy.

2.) 21 Jun 2022 12:13:21
Beast of a player. Quadruple.

3.) 21 Jun 2022 12:44:56
Well inter must of gone stark raving mad. What a move that would be. Probably end up at Chelsea. Or spurs back with conte.

4.) 21 Jun 2022 14:22:09
Barella would be the perfect signing, but it's difficult to see where we'd get another 80m after already spending so much on Nunez.

{Ed0666's Note - the Tchouameni money?

5.) 21 Jun 2022 18:36:55
I’m reading reports he’s pushing for a move but not saying this is true probably click bait.

6.) 22 Jun 2022 07:42:22
Not a fan of spending crazy money on midfielders, teams seem to miss more than hit while spending big on attacking midfielders, even we haven't been able to get it right during this Klopp/ Edwards era, while being very good in others.

30 Jun 2023 19:32:07
Exiting window now taking shape for us and I think maybe we have enough in midfield now with szoboszlai added to what we have . For me a midfield of him macallister and bajetic look out city .

ESXRED

1.) 30 Jun 2023 19:42:24
Think we need a DM still and a CB.

2.) 30 Jun 2023 19:51:38
Bajcetic is still developing (physically) he is not ready to be our main DM. Though happy with both signings (szobolai happens) but I think we still need another fast, strong and powerful DM/ CM to help bring back that midfield domination.

Then add a fast versatile defender - I like the idea of Kyle walker, can play RB and in a back 3!

I would like us to sell Phillips, a great pro and for the sake of his career he needs to go. Also Thiago, I love him technical brilliant. If we’re persisting with this new formation I don’t see how he fits, I would rather mac allistir and Jones on the left side than him. He is too slow and better suited to deep lying playmaker in a midfield with a base of 2. We should just sell him on at the cheap and get him if the wage bill.

3.) 30 Jun 2023 20:31:49
Brilliant signing but a defensive midfielder and left centre back is needed if we are serious about regaining our position back as a serious contender for honours.

4.) 30 Jun 2023 20:52:52
Good business hoping we follow up with thuram and a cb. no idea who though. hijack timber maybe.

5.) 30 Jun 2023 21:01:21
I think Bajetic has great potential but he only started 6 league and 1 CL game last season so I think it’s a bit early to pin our hopes on him.

I’m looking forward to seeing his progression next season but I’m not sure he’s going to be starting games week in week out like some of the more senior pros.

6.) 30 Jun 2023 21:32:10
Bajetic is 18 . Looks great prospect. Let him develop I say. No pressure kids looked brilliant when I’ve watched him. Let’s not spoil it.

7.) 30 Jun 2023 21:36:43
Did I read that Trent was primarily a defensive midfielder? I really can’t wait for preseason to see how is going to be used this season.

I think with the two signings there might be one or two players out there looking for a move to a ‘top’ club who may get think we are worth looking at.

Another thing that occurred to me is the average age of our squad is dropping fairly quickly too.

21 Jun 2023 07:11:42
Morning eds

In your opinion do you think the plan is to move trent in to midfield and find a new right back or will he continue to play the role he did towards the end of last season.

ESXRED

{Ed001's Note - we will find out in pre-season I would think, but it seems like we will continue with the hybrid role.}

1.) 21 Jun 2023 08:05:14
I hope we do continue with the hybrid role, gives us more attacking players on the pitch and more bodies to close down higher up, getting in an aggressive ball carrying attacking mid like Thuram would give the midfield a nice look, not a fan of Gravenberch over Thuram, we have missed a big physical CM like Thuram for a while and he is the sort of different mid we need, probably out of our price range until Kelleher and Gomez are sold though.

2.) 21 Jun 2023 08:53:14
It does look as though Trent is playing well in that role and there certainly seems less pressure in that position. If we did decide to go to a back 4 (and with Ramsey now out on loan) I'd still keep Trent in midfield and play Gomez right back personally. Not sure what everyone else's thoughts are on that? He's still pretty young and, if he can stay fit has plenty of energy and recovery pace.

3.) 21 Jun 2023 09:05:43
Hybrid role is a joke. Leaves far too much space in behind and also restricts robbo going forward. Hopefully we go back to our bread and butter or these decisions will see an early exit for klopp. Play one of the two young lads capable at right back of you want trent being more creative centrally. Even though he's best on the right.

4.) 21 Jun 2023 10:09:17
"Early exit for Klopp" - had to laugh at that one.

5.) 21 Jun 2023 10:45:35
Just fear burn out for Trent in the hybrid role. Also think it’s only viable with Konate fit and a defensive minded RCM willing to cover. See the merits of overloading the middle vs the smaller teams but would worry vs quality teams. Think Klopp will persist with it until it is exposed though.

6.) 21 Jun 2023 10:58:24
Have said it elsewhere, I just think the best thing for Trent's career right now is that he prepare to play to his strengths. He is heading into his prime years, and I just can't imagine that when he visualizes himself as a superstar Liverpool player in his prime, that it would be as a right back chasing f***ing left wingers lol.

Free the shackles and play the man in midfield. the time is now!

7.) 21 Jun 2023 11:15:48
I like him there, makes us so much more creative having him further forward. I'm not worried about being exposed, we were getting exposed last season regardless because of the midfield. When we sign a physical player who is capable of dropping between the centre halves to help Virg and Konate out we will be absolutely fine.

8.) 21 Jun 2023 11:58:27
Thomas194, so you are saying that cos we were exposed before Trent moved into the new role, we should then keep playing this formation that still leaves us even more exposed than before? I don't understand this logic at all. Also, what is your solution to mitigate against us being exposed (even more, IMO) with Trent in this new role that we all saw get battered by Villa and Spurs a couple of months ago? Looking forward to your response.

As for me, I remain consistent on this. If Trent is to approach anywhere near midfield, he should be played in there permanently cos his talent and abilities as a midfielder would benefit us way more than this inverted role stuff.

Also what the people advocating for this new role are missing is that there is NOBODY in the squad right now that can play that role the way he can so unless they want him to play EVERY game, he's going to need to rest and then who plays that role? Are we going to be changing systems and complicating things for the players just to accommodate one guy? Sorry, we should not jeopardise the balance of the team to suit one player. Just my take.

9.) 21 Jun 2023 12:30:09
So what is everyones opinion of the news hat our owners have taken negative 37 million out of the club these last 5 years? Only one side have taken more ( or put more in to see another side) In the same time Citys owners have pumped £81 million in, we have never been as successful as these last 5 years so the owners made sure they got their money while the team suffered FSGout and out now!

10.) 21 Jun 2023 12:30:46
His role will be dependent on who we are playing, I think he will play both hybrid and full midfield but it gives us great options and will keep teams guessing.
It will be interesting to see how he fairs against the top midfielders until I see that I still thinking right Back drifting in.

11.) 21 Jun 2023 13:12:41
and the prize for the most random comment that has nothing to do with the conversation goes to LancasterRed.

12.) 21 Jun 2023 13:22:41
Where did you get the negative 37m from, Lancaster? I can't find any mention of it online.

13.) 21 Jun 2023 13:30:37
If Klopp persists with the hybrid Trent role then I’m sure someone used to say all the time on here “DON’T throw your toys out of the pram because Klopp isn’t doing what YOU want him to do”.

14.) 21 Jun 2023 13:44:59
No Oli, I'm saying that we can't make that conclusion because we didn't have the personnel to make any attacking formation work, that will be different next season.

If you remember we did go through a period of trying to be more solid, we conceded less but ultimately we stopped scoring as well.

I'm happy with Trent playing in midfield, but I think him drifting there from right back allows him to pick up the ball in more space.

In an ideal world we sign a left sided centre back to replace Robbo in the start lineup and use Robbo's energy off the bench, allowing us to shuffle into a back 3 when Trent goes forward. We also bring in some competition for Fabinho in the DM spot as well.

15.) 21 Jun 2023 14:44:02
Ultimately, Klopp needs to restore the counter pressing, the high-line and improve the ball retention by the attacking players. Whether that is 433, 442, 3box3 or 3diamond3 - it doesn't matter unless those basic principles are sorted.

Klopp likes the high risk/ high reward nature of his setups. He won't abandon that. So it'll be about dominating possession, counterpressing and reducing negative transitions. All of these were missing last season.

16.) 21 Jun 2023 15:04:43
Thomas194, I hear you with what you are saying. My fear is that, we are flipping the whole system on it's head and getting exposed a bit too much (which we both agree was happening anyway) just to get the best out of one player. This imbalance is what I cannot understand and IMO, should not happen.

Sure, we can sign whoever to play wherever BUT my fear remains esp. since we don't know how this system will work vs the better teams who eventually will suss us out. Also, I am not for flipping from one system to another as Clee has said cos that only over-complicates thing for the players. Either way, we shall see. Love the convo, man. Peace to you and yours.

17.) 21 Jun 2023 15:05:50
Faith, I think @Lancastered mistook this site and thread for one of the fan sites infested majority with FSGOutters. Just my opinion.

18.) 21 Jun 2023 16:43:53
I agree to be fair Oli, I like the idea of us trying something different but I think it will still need work. Hopefully we can do that over pre season

Either way, whatever we were doing last season wasn't working but if we go back to our 2018-2020 methods that would be ideal. All about opinions as you say though, definitely worth the debate. Same back to you as well.

19.) 21 Jun 2023 18:03:07
Personally I enjoyed the ‘hybrid role’ for Trent, his defending hasn’t worsened in the role but his contribution going forward has improved. I’m not saying stick with the hybrid for every game but I am in favour of having different options depending on the opposition. There is lots of talk about getting found out by better opposition but if I remember correctly Trent’s first game in the hybrid role was against then title contenders Arsenal and we were desperately unlucky not to win that match…not saying it isint a risky formation and that it doesn’t have its dangers but it’s not a bad option to have.

20.) 22 Jun 2023 13:50:42
Wow, it’s like having half a dozen voices taking part in three different conversations in your head . I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I hope we hurry up and buy another midfielder, the conversations might be a bit less weird when we do.

01 May 2023 20:13:22
Don't mean to drag this one out guys but I stand by what I said last week about Curtis Jones I think he's slowly becoming the first midfielder on the team sheet. And how good would this look next season. Jones, bajcetic, Bellingham with hendo thiago and elliot as back up . Come on reds ?. YNWA.

ESXRED

1.) 01 May 2023 21:10:25
I'm not sure about that mate. But what I am sure about is that the kid isn't washed, needs to stay healthy and crucially, needs a run of games to get his rhythm going.

Would love to see a local lad be so important to the first team. How could would it be is Jones and Trent became the heart beat of our midfield!?

2.) 01 May 2023 21:59:55
Hope you’re right mate. Big thing for me is if he can stay fit.

3.) 01 May 2023 22:16:13
He’s still back up next season.

4.) 02 May 2023 07:24:00
He has his chance to show he has a future. He’s been unavailable when we’ve needed him. Let’s see what the next few months bring. Or should I say what he brings.

5.) 02 May 2023 11:31:34
All the players are auditioning for next season, IMO. CJ is one of them.

20 Apr 2023 22:06:09
Really hope the rumours about rabiot aren't true, he just doesn't suit our style of play, I'm sure this will split opinions but I'd much rather see Jones in there next season . keep that guy fit and he has massive potential ?.

ESXRED

1.) 20 Apr 2023 22:18:24
Jones wouldn’t lace his boots.

2.) 20 Apr 2023 23:13:10
Jones isn’t first choice Esx, whoever we sign for midfield has no impact on Jones’s Liverpool future. Was your post just a wind up?

3.) 20 Apr 2023 23:17:53
Jones gets someone else to lace his boots?

4.) 20 Apr 2023 22:22:49
Sounds a silly question but how do you keep a guy fit.

Some players just seem to pick up more injures than others. Not sure if it’s luck or a pain threshold thing or something else.

I know we blame the medical or S&C teams but Robbo, Vvd, Tsimikas, Phillips, Milner and Salah etc all come under the same bracket and never seem to be injured.

5.) 21 Apr 2023 00:26:25
Jones played well v Arsenal an Leeds maybe he fancies his chances now? He got 8 ish weeks to stake a claim. I’d like him to make it.

6.) 21 Apr 2023 08:06:19
I’d take Rabiot on a free all day long.

7.) 21 Apr 2023 10:41:38
I know ed001 and a few posters likes Rabiot as an option on a free but I personally just don’t see it.

Only need to look at Weston McDonald’s Mckennie or Arthur to see how these Juve players have fared outside of Juventus/ Serie a.

The wages would also likely be significant (because of the salary he’d already be on at Juventus and because it would be a free) .

I would rather go for a younger, hungrier midfielder the right side of 25 who Klopp could mould into what we need.

{Ed001's Note - if that is the kind of nonsense comparison we are going to make to decide on whether to buy players we should just give up signing anyone ever. Two players who struggled in Serie A are not the benchmark for anyone.}

8.) 21 Apr 2023 10:44:50
Rabiot is a very good player, on a free too and we need midfielders - sounds like a no brainer tbh

And hey, I genuinely hope Jones pushes on and gets better and better - I always love young ones coming through, but Rabiot is versatile, can play both 6 and 8 if memory serves, and is on a free - with a few leaving, him and a fully fit and firing Jones can only be a good thing for the club.

9.) 20 Apr 2023 23:04:51
I really hope it is true snd we lend him. Any development in this area Ed’s?

{Ed002's Note - Lend who?

10.) 21 Apr 2023 12:29:49
Navy Keith, and how does that apply to Rabiot, exactly?

11.) 21 Apr 2023 12:35:45
Me to Scouse John. I’d started to give up on him but I’d love to see him get a run until the end of the season, build his confidence and make himself a valuable part of the squad for next season.

12.) 22 Apr 2023 11:26:50
Really don't understand the nonsense I read about rabiot he is a very very good player. If we do sign him then so be it what is it with fans writing players off before we sign them? It's shocking how many even on this page have turned into social media personas that want to write things for the sake of it.

03 Feb 2023 14:33:29
Hope that the news about Bobby is true and who knows with him and virgil back in training and the transfer window all done I think we can have a real push for top 4 ( if anyone can it's us ) . If not I'm praying ? for anything above the big spending blues ?. Ynwa.

ESXRED

1.) 03 Feb 2023 16:49:36
I reckon we’re the only big club who prays for the window closing each season ?.

2.) 03 Feb 2023 16:57:22
Did I read jota trained with first team yesterday too?

3.) 03 Feb 2023 20:05:27
Si Senor, he did SJ ?.

4.) 03 Feb 2023 20:32:39
Jota is unfortunately in the injury bracket I trust him on the pitch when playing but at the same time I feel he could break down at any time, thiago keita ox matip hendo Bobby fabihno Arthur and gomez the same, 9 players which is frightening.

5.) 03 Feb 2023 22:16:32
Jones?

6.) 03 Feb 2023 23:52:58
Sorry Mark, off course curtis jones 10 ludicrous.

7.) 04 Feb 2023 02:45:53
Konate seems to be part of that group as well.

But in all honesty, with so many players part of the 'injury prone' group, I'm beginning to wonder if the problem lies in the coaching team instead of the individual players.

Hope this isn't true as Matip has had his day and we need an upgrade, with konate out injured a lot he's not good enough to fill that gap and surely we need to strengthen that area. Personally I'd rather keep phillps as 3rd/ 4th choice cb.

Absolutely spot on what a disappointment, also why does jk keep starting him when we have much better options on the bench. For me I'd start Hendo Elliott and Bajetic.

Absolutely spot on ed001 who would complain about having 2 nice new shiny trophies ? in the cabinet . I mean you wouldn't see a united or arsenal fan moaning ??.

{Ed001's Note - or Spurs. City fans don't complain about winning the cups or that they keep failing to get the Champions League. We are so spoilt we are failing to appreciate how good we have it.}
