with the clock ticking, i really hope we are not screwing with players' careers by pricing them out of a move whilst also compromising our own finances.

Ben Woodburn has now gone on loan. Seems that Elliot will be tried out in midfield, which means we have 8 players in the middle of the park and may not add to it unless we have the money and the player we really want.

Let's see if we can move on
1) Karius (for his own sake, the disaster happened in 2018 and he's still with us now! )
2) Neco Williams? (thought a loan will do him good, esp. since Gomez and Miler can cover RB)
3) Shaq
4) Origi (if he moves, then we are likely to get a versatile forward)
5) Ojo (similarly, he seems unlikely to fulfil his massive youthful promise and should move on to find his level and have a career)

The versatile forwards that have been mentioned here are
1) Traore
2) Sarr
3) Bowen.

Honestly, don't know enough about them but if its from these 3, i may actually prefer Bowen. Super hardworking, enough pace about him, not the most skilfull winger you can find, but has a goal in him. I agree with the comparisons of him to Kuyt for these attributes and thought they are similar too in the goal scoring department - not a huge variety of goals but consistently finishes off a few types when they have the chances.

Let's see what happens in this last 2 weeks!

Sarr is heads and shoulders above both of them, both in terms of ability and physicality. Quick (lightning quick), strong, technically decent, hard working, has a decent cross and scores goals.

I fully agree on Karius, Shaq and Ojo.

Neco I'd keep as rotation/ cover as I'm not convinced on Gomez being anything other than emergency cover given he's not a naturally attacking fullback. Milner we need in midfield given Gini's departed.

For Origi, I think he should go if we get in another forward, but if not then I'd keep him personally so we have Jota, Elliott, Minamino and Origi as backup (Elliott, Minamino and Origi are still very credible cup/ rotation players while Jota is a challenger for a starting role) .

Traore is the best option from those 3. Has pace and power, plus perfect fit as an impact sub which he will be at LFC. 2 years left on contract and unwilling to sign a new, so will likely be cheaper than Sarr and Bowen. Wolves may be agreeable to an instalment payment plan as with Jota.

I think Sarr is the better player right here and now but I think Traore has a massive ceiling of potential and for that alone I would go for him above the others. Add in he is quite two footed and he decent dribbling ability (not just a speed demon like some think), and we wouldn’t lose him to AFCON and I’d definitely go for him. He goes past people for fun and that’s a very rare and important ability. Not even Salah does that very often anymore. If Klopp can work with him to improve his output to even a fraction of what he has done with Mane and Salah we could have an absolute Worldy on our hands. I know that sounds a bit mad but I genuinely believe it.

That sounds a bit mad, Westwood.

Lingard on loan lol. home grown.

Origi is dreadful. I understand after his goals in the UCL he has legend status and anything said against him is haram but he needs to be moved on.

Origi is far from dreadful. Unfortunately he's the kind of player who need regular games to hit his rhythm, and he's going to struggle to get those games at Liverpool.

Williams need to stay to cover Trent. Origi needs to go even if we don't sign anybody as he never really plays and will get even less game time this season with Minamino and Elliott ahead of him and he is nowhere near good enough. Karius should be given a free transfer if anybody is interested just to get him of the wage bill and let him try to get his career back on track. Ojo needs to get a move as soon as possible championship seem his level. Shaq needs to go but at £5m with what it would take to replace him if a better deals does not come maybe another year might be best for us with the AFCON in January. Sarr Looks a good player but again with the AFCON to sign him would not make much sense to lose 3 of are first team forward in one go.

Traore can’t hit the target from close range and his final ball is appalling. You can’t coach the technique, finesse and composure needed. His ceiling is limited as he’s about as good as he’s ever going to get at 25. The guy was at the Barcelona academy (which is regarded as the finest academy for young footballers in Europe, regardless of the mess that Barcelona are in) and they couldn’t coach that into him. All he is good at is running the ball into blind alleyways and missing the target.

When people say “he’d be a good impact sub”, it baffles me how he’d do that, as he’s almost entirely useless against teams that park the bus when there’s no space to run into.

If we’re talking about players with a “high ceiling”, I’d say Sarr fits into this category as he’s got pace, power, technique and his final ball and finishing are pretty decent as well as having the knack of knowing to be in the right place at the right time to score.

VVVV - People are entirely selective in their memories regarding substitutes. A lot of fans think that because they once saw a speedy, agile substitute come on and be instrumental in a 2-1 turnaround win, a guy like Traore, who fits the above description, would be signed to do exactly that all the time. Never mind that Liverpool win the majority of their games, or that substitutes regularly have no effect on the match, the imagined situation in which Liverpool are at 0-0 or even a goal down, wherein Traore is introduced to batter the tired defenders down and win the game for us, is too good to ignore.

Oh right subs are useless in your view. Don't think Klopp thinks the same as he's subbed Caulker and Origi on to try to score. Whoever comes in if it happens is 5th choice after the fab 4. We need a game changer, like a Origi in madrid.

VVVV - So players can't improve at 25? U only need to look at LFC's recent players. Sarr is a good player but I believe Klopp will improve Traore to be even better. He dribbles past players and does not need space to run into. Stop merely looking at past clubs' stats to predict how they will do. Its not the end all.

It’s all subjective opinions. There is no objective evidence for anything being discussed here but somehow it riles people up. We are allowed to have differing opinions. I happen to think technique, composure etc can be coached. What is the point otherwise? No matter, I will support whoever Klopp and Edwards bring in regardless.
