Hi Eds, Any truth in the news that we're seriously looking at the young Argentinian Alan Varela? If so, would that mean that either Fab or Thiago will be sold on? I'm seeing some rather bizarre links to more obscure players via internet journos and just wonder if there's any substance to any of them. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Alan Varela (DM) Boca youngster interesting Barcelona, Chelsea and Benfica. Newcastle, Liverpool and Braga have also sent scouts to watch the player. Questionable whether he would immediately be able to get a Work Permit to play in England or be an immediate first team player.

I don't see that Varela would be ready to replace anyone in the Liverpool first team but there does seem to be an interest in moving Fabinho on as DM are being looked at.}

Ed, do you know which DMs continue to be looked at given the Amrabat and Caicedo ships have sailed?

I don't think Fabinho is finished but can see that at the age of 29 he is a saleable asset, unlike many others in our midfield.

{Ed002's Note - Nunes is flexible and can play centrally and cover at DM. Rabiot may become an option. I would not rule out Arthur making enough of an impression and Liverpool looking for a reduced fee to make the move permanent.}

Arthur? Interesting! I'd actually like to see him start tonight just to see what he can do, especially with Hendo and Bajcetic out. I don't see us winning so at least let's see what he's made of.

He's not registered to play in the CL, johnnyr1970.

Oh well, must have known we were on our way out as soon as we drew RM.

Well, that's just groovy then, isn't it. ?.

I was thinking something similar with Arthur. I can see us signing him if he does enough between now and the end season, fir a lesser fee than agreed. Could be really good business if he can get back to his best.

If we sign Arthur then we have learned nothing in the past 2 seasons.

Oh my god no. Seriously dreading summer already.

Totally agree no sale of the club no investment means rock bottom transfers with FSG.

How any club would consider to sign a player full time who they loaned and never played a game is beyond me. If this is how we will proceed to do things then we are completely knackered.

I think Ed02 is trying to wind folk up about Arthur. I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance we will. Why would we!

I think y'all need to read Ed002's statement a bit more carefully. They did say that it is up to Arthur to make an impression on us to make his move permanent. This implies that we currently are not interested but if Arthur impresses from now onwards, we may consider but at a reduced fee. Imo, I don't see it happening.

Ed002 does Klopp want Rabiot then mate or is it just the fact he will be available and looking for a club?

{Ed002's Note - It will depend on who is available and achievable, and of course if Juventus decide to offer him enough to stay.}

Can somebody provide a coherent list of “what we have learned … in the past two season” please? Something based in fact rather than opinion would be really appreciated.

FlyPelican, we're covered for DM's. Fabinho and Bajcetic are fine to continue with next season.
