Thanks, Hendo was being protected/ rested imo. It seemed a pre planned move to bring him off after 70 minutes. If we were winning Milner would probably have got the shout.

Oooh, you’re a hard one to please Ed001! Joking aside, those are the type of games we’d lose a few years ago so whilst some of the performances seemed quite poor to come away with the points is an absolute positive for me.

Stupid question maybe - we often play badly against defensive teams. Other than just keep trying to get through them, what type of player do people think we’re missing who could make the difference in these games?

{Ed001's Note - I was delighted we got the result, I will take that every time over a good performance in defeat.

I think we have the types of player we need - ones like Ox who run with it and Thiago.}

Great review, Ed.

I thought we setup in a way to ensure Traore could not get that second and third touch at the expense of the usual attacking fluency and marauding running. As a result of being in a more cautious mindset, passes were either a bit slower/ safer or just behind the recipient which gave Wolves the chance to keep a good shape against a lot of our moves.

Nevertheless, we still created enough chances to win the game and we march onto the next fixtures. Jota with those two, Trent should have done better with his, Salah with a couple and Mane with one too.

Can see 6/ 7 changes vs Milan and Klopp using the 5 subs to get those that have played 3 in 7 days some rest before Villa and Stevie G comes to town. Ox, Naby, Joe Taki, Ibou, Lord Divvy and Greek Scouser to come in. Shame Milly got that silly yellow vs Porto.

Seems like City have the bit between their teeth too so the pressure to rack up the wins is on. Winning a last minute 1-0er away from home should add to our growing confidence.

I personally felt that we started the game slow, too many stray passes. We did not put together 10 passes for the entire first half and that gave them the confidence to except some pressure. We looked lethargic for the first half and Jota was a bit missing. Games like these are not good for my health, gives me too much anxiety and boils my blood. I don't need LFC to do that as I have my family to frustrate me.

Cheers Ed, I unfortunately couldn't watch the game. Was chuffed to bits we got them three points though, get in!

{Ed001's Note - you didn't miss much apart from that last gasp goal and the sheer joy of that moment. Actually you did miss a lot thinking about it! That was incredible.}

Great review, Ed01. I thought we didn't move the ball quick enuff in the first half and we allowed Wolves to lull us into playing slow and sloppy which was a huge win for them as they succeeded in bringing us down to their level. This led to us being sloppy and lacked concentration and composure in front of goal cos that Jota chance just smacked of a guy who lost his head completely and Mane was guilty of this too.

I agree we got what our play deserved and credit to the boys and Klopp for not giving up and going for broke till the end BUT we need to start games fast as we have been doing and put teams to the sword esp; the bus parkers cos once that happens, the game plan is out the window and they have to come out to us which does the trick for us.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Oli.}

Whilst I’m not a massive fan of Traore he can certainly cause some nervous moments for defenders with his pace. I do wonder if it’s that potential for causing chaos that Klopp likes about him (if the rumours are true) . As a defender can you imagine having Mane, Salah and Traore hurtling towards you all at the same time?

It’s a shame his end product is a bit rubbish but I can see a place for him in this team as an option to come on late in games against tired opposition. Not for £30m though!

johnnyr1970, I ma literally never worried when Traore gets the ball and starts running cos I know and there is empirical evidence (too much of it, in fact) that it will amount to nothing 9/ 10 times. Not good enuff for us. There are players like Raphinha, Sarr, Diaby (Leverkusen) who are light years ahead of him that we could get. Even Bowen would be better than the NFL running back from Wolves. Why Klopp fancies him till this day, I will NEVER understand.

If you read my post I wasn’t calling for us to sign him but if multiple cup/ title winning manager Jurgen Klopp sees something in Traore that he can work with then who are we to argue really. £15m - maybe worth a punt, £30m plus - no thanks.

No team is going to do 38 great league performances a season. It's about whether you can grind the result out when it's not clicking, or when the oppo have a way of frustrating you. It's not just a Liverpool thing to have a difficult day and pull it out at the last minute.

As an example, Chelsea, a team over whom a lot of us were bricking it cos they're apparently so good, (and btw have now dropped more points than us for those not familiar with the league table), were lucky to get all 3 points against Brentford due to a combination of Mendy and poor finishing. But they got across the line in the end and took 3 points that day. Just like we did against Wolves.

Adama Traore would be low down on my santa list of transfers but he has qualities that could add to our team if we bought him. Wolves seem to pump the ball up to him hoping he will get to the final third and cross or shoot (two things he is pretty abysmal at) . However, most of our crosses come from our wing-backs.
What he can do is get the ball halfway up the pitch and often single-handedly carry it to the penalty box where a 3 yard pass to Mo/ Jota/ Bobby/ Mane may be enough.
He is strong, fast and extremely tough to get the ball from him. Plus he's capable of the quick, short one-twos that are needed on the edge of the box.
If we are looking for a winger that can get cross the ball in from the corner flag, or a forward that can notch 15 goals a season, he would be an awful signing. But, if he's used for his limited strengths and assets he could draw a lot of opposing players to him and free up space for others.

Idreamofgin - that was my point as well - he looks the kind of player who can cause havoc with his pace and dribbling ability so ideal for games where the opposition have tired legs or where there is a packed defence. Shame about his end product really but I do think there are some good parts to his game and who knows what we could see if he was playing in a better team. My main concern would be the price that Wolves might demand.

johnnyr1970, I wouldn't be interested in Traore at any price. Not worth it even at 15m, IMO. If we had 15m to spend on a wide man, might as well add another 30m and get Sarr, Raphinha or even Bowen. If we can't, keep the money and give Kaide Gordon a go till we have the funds to get who we actually want. Just my take.

I’m glad you don’t have access to my bank accounts with that kind of approach to spending 😂😂.
