Hi Ed002, do you know if Liverpool have contacted Brighton yet about Mac Allaister?

{Ed002's Note - Yes but they don’t like the price they have been quoted.}

Oh really? So not as certain as we have been led to believe Ed? What price has been quoted?

{Ed002's Note - I understand they will look for £70M plus. It should not have been s surprise toLiverpool.}

Can a deal be done Ed, or will Liverpool move onto other targets now?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Agreement can be reached but Liverpool will want the price reduced.}

Are there other clubs interested who are likely to pay the asking price? No point haggling if someone will pay more than us.

{Ed002's Note - Yes there is interest from elsewhere.}

We need these new midfield bodies in asap for me so that we can start next season with them ready to go. It sounds like we have a relatively long list of players on our radar, all at a similar ability level so if silly prices are quoted then we need to move on quickly and let other clubs pay over the odds.

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool can find agreement with Brighton.}

Your man Fabrizio Romano seems to be the main man running the Mac Allister story online he’s claiming there’s an “exit clause” below £70m. Would you know if any such clause exists ed? Id take your word over his.

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know the details of any termination clause as it is not shown on the TMS.}

It’s hard to know what is reasonable or not anymore as the market is crazy, MacAllister is a good player, premier league proven and a World Cup winner but £70m seems steep, but then you look at the likes of Thuram or Ugarte who are playing in lesser leagues and arguably less experienced and they are being priced at £55+ million…proof in itself that football has gone mad! The premier league is well and truly the cash cow of the European leagues it’s honestly obscene and will only get worse with clubs being bought up by state funds and billionaire vanity projects.

So basically Liverpool being Liverpool yet this time i actually think it's right, £70 mill is ridiculous for MacAllister, they should offer £20m plus either Kelleher or Gomez then add ons that are based on top 4 and cup wins but some that are near guaranteed like appearance and goals, we no doubt have a little budget as per so need to be savy, Thuram, MacAllister and one other plus a cb is sound business.

I mean we could offer 20m plus Gomez but we'd be laughed out of negotiations. Good players cost good money these days and unless something changes that's only going to keep increasing. doesn't feel long ago at all that youd see a rumour of a plyer going for £30m and theyd be one of the best players in the world.

@OneKiss too true, players price in todays markets show how far from reality football is,
