Apparently Firmino has signed a new 2 year deal.

Cue the moaners "he's too old, he hasn't got the legs any more, he's crap, he doesn't score goals".
I'll go with Klopp's judgement every time.

Brilliant news. What a player he is and will continue to be.
Something happened to him during lock down, he seemed to suffer more than anyone else because of the lack of fans.
How many years total will that take his tenure at LFC to anyone?

7 goals and 3 assists in 13 games in a side that has struggled quite a lot is very good going, has never been about pace as he has a good football brain. He’s got another decent few of years left in him.

{Ed025's Note - Bobby is laughing all the way to the bank. Typical scenario… does sod all for over 3 years then when his contract is due for renewal starts playing half decent. Mugs is the correct word I believe..

Hope they haven’t given him massive wages again as that would be a massive mistake. We can’t keep handing out massive wages to players who are clearly past their best. Not just Bobby but Hendo, Milner etc as well.

Personally I would get rid of Bobby or Jota and get Toni in.

{Ed025's Note - good player him mark, would cost a pretty penny i imagine mate but hes very talented and destined for great things i feel..

Agree with Ed025 for the most part, the last few years have been more bad than good and Iv repeatedly called him out for his poor performances in that time. But he’s been here long enough, done enough good before the time period where I critiqued him and played well enough already this year to warrant being given an opportunity to continue playing at the level he has been. If he doesn’t and drops off again as Ed025 suggests then he won’t be in the team. Either way he’ll be decent enough cover in a period where improving the midfield will be a the priority over the attack.

Eds025 Bobby would walk into Everton’s team all day and I know you believe the same.

{Ed025's Note - i cant deny that hughesy, he would fit in well with our perennial under achievers mate, how about a swap with bobby coming to us and you getting davies, keane and holgate?..

Great news, he's been on fire this season. Long may it continue.

{Ed025's Note - hes on fire at the moment willo, but for the past few years he was as hot as a snowball mate so we have to hope that this fat new contract hes getting doesn,t lure him back to the dark side..

15 Nov 2022 19:29:53
I'd of given a year at most. but probably let him go on a free. Let's see what do he does for rest of season. Diaz back after World Cup and nunez isn't getting dropped now.
Ivan toney should also be brought in.

I think Klopp has settled on Firmino and Carvalho as his 5th and 6th forwards, and I don't see him buying any other forward, unless one leaves next summer.

Ed25 I recognize your opinion of and understand why you don't think he's played well over the last few years. That's the one thing I'll point out. Beyond stats statistics is that he plays his socks off for LFC. I know there's not much room for sentiment in the business, but that is why he's a fan favorite and respected in the club versus a guy like him kieta. I'm happy to have guys like him as long as admittedly he's not getting crazy wages and his role will be more of a backup from this point on.

{Ed025's Note - £9,360,000 a year is not too shabby pete, he may well be a decent option from the bench but not a regular i would suggest mate, if i had his money and looks i would be the king of woolton, instead of trying to pull birds with my new chat up line..." why dont you come back to mine and i will put the heating on".. :)

Hope we paying bobby $1billion/ week just so we can have ed25 post daily about him :)

On ya Bobby, 2 years is a good extension and will help transition to whoever is next - carvalho, Jota etc.

16 Nov 2022 11:47:45
The forward line looks excellent with Nunez, Diaz and Salah the first names on the team sheet but exceptional cover in Jota, Firmino and Carvalho to cover injuries, tiredness and formation changes. personally I’d have Elliot just at the top of a midfield diamond and not in a 3 midfield so we are in a very good space in attack. If klopp can sort out the midfield so it’s as strong as the forward line we might have a chance of winning the league again.

There isn’t much wrong with the world if an Evertonian’s preoccupied slagging off a Liverpool player or two. Just shows they have nothing to brag about across the park. Bit like business as usual for most of the past 50 years ??.

{Ed025's Note - we have been poor since the 90,s WDW. But I don’t slag players off mate…I tell the truth. The fact you don’t like to hear it is not my problem really. Your lot do like to think you are holier than thou and can’t see any flaws in your player’s. But I can because I’m a purveyor of the truth…and can see through lead..

16.) 16 Nov 2022
16 Nov 2022 12:31:15
I think the difference is accepting the flaws for the person bobby is to the club, the city, and as a player for what he can bring when he is playing well. That makes it worthwhile and I wouldn't expect a rival fan to understand.

It's strange how Bobby is lauded for having a good start to the season after being quite frankly abysmal the last few years. For the player he is, he should be putting in these performances week in week out every season. The guy is paid a small fortune to be at the top of his game. The only way this extension makes sense is if he has taken a wage cut with the possibility of getting a fee for him in a years time, else the reward is not worth the risk. Pretty sure Gini wanted and extension and a pay rise and he was chased out by the fans, yet was more consistent year on year.

Ed025 If Firmino went to Everton, Holgate would want to stay as they got very close a few seasons back!

{Ed025's Note - a bit too close Mia. They were like Siamese twins mate..

19.) 16 Nov 2022
16 Nov 2022 18:11:01
I have to agree with Ed25. Bobby is in good form, not great form. He has moments in games but generally tires too quickly and has lost his pressing ability. He was invisible second half against Southampton. He’s had a woeful couple of year prior too. I think it’s telling that he hasn’t gone the World Cup. Move on I say.

20.) 16 Nov 2022
16 Nov 2022 22:09:31
@Stuie - in what way has Bobby been abysmal “in the last few years”?

Ed025 (or may I call you Superman? ?) I assume you meant to say the mid-80’s rather than the 90’s unless you are talking about the 1890’s?

{Ed025's Note - we did win the FA cup in 95 WDW, and yes you can call me superman mate...all the women on merseyside do.. :)

21.) 17 Nov 2022
17 Nov 2022 02:39:22
??? Sorry Ed, I’d forgotten about that one - my two favourite teams so Inwas probably asleep before half time. Surely it can’t be that bad that winning an FA Cup makes it a good decade? We missed out on the quadruple last season by about two goals and there are ‘fans’ who want rid of half of the squad ??.

{Ed025's Note - our expectations are a little lower I would suggest WDW. Your crew are all spoilt and the sense of entitlement beyond belief but nothing new there I suppose mate..

With Klopp supposedly refusing to spend FSG's transfer war chest every window the only place that money can go is on wages and new contracts

Bobby could definitely walk into the Everton team, and once in there if he continued to walk around the football pitch he'd fit right in with the rest of their squad.
