Isn't it time to put Henderson out to grass. All he did last game was pass the ball back to the player who gave it to him. Once in a while there was a decent pass but by no means enough to warrant him starting every match. He has had a good run - better than he has deserved - and it is time for him (and Milner) to be no more than a bench-warmer.

mia

1.) 19 Apr 2023 20:17:53
better than he deserved? That's an interesting take as Henderson is a hard-working type of professional, who imo, has had to work hard and earn everything he has achieved in the game not based purely on talent alone. I think there is some stats-bias going on in your assessment here.

In a team dynamic, you don't just treat leaders in the team like that. There will be a place in the team for hendo.

2.) 19 Apr 2023 21:05:50
Mia the troll - never been on here before and then makes an embarrassing statement like that that. Back under your bridge.

3.) 19 Apr 2023 21:10:17
Harsh in my opinion. Hendos been an excellent leader and I hope he finishes his career with us showing the younger lads coming in the way forward.

4.) 19 Apr 2023 21:16:47
I thought Hendo was pretty good last game to be honest. Still a good asset and a big personality and driving force in the squad. He may be aging and not what he was but it’s up to the others in the squad to take his place. Obviously they aren’t convincing Klopp in training right now. Same for Jones taking Thiago’s place for the people saying he’s not good enough.

5.) 19 Apr 2023 21:24:53
There are a lot of fires to put out this this summer. I don’t think this is one of them.

I think Hendo is fine and will continue to have a role in the squad albeit he will begin to be fazed out probably over the next season or two.

6.) 20 Apr 2023 00:48:19
Hendo is a good one game a week player who needs to be rotated. Like Milner a solid pro, leader and great for the younger players.

7.) 20 Apr 2023 03:07:29
He’s been poor for a couple of years now but we’re stuck with him on huge wages for another 2 unfortunately. I can’t remember the last time i seen someone praise him for his football ability.

8.) 20 Apr 2023 06:38:18
The question isn’t really what he has done in the past, that is part of our issue in fact. Is he worthy of being at the club now based on his performances? I would say certainly but maybe not as a regular starter, he isn’t done as some people think but he certainly needs stiffer competition in my opinion.

9.) 20 Apr 2023 06:41:48
There’s no denying Hendo’s leadership qualities over the years and the same as Milner.

But also we can’t deny that the team have looked leaderless this season on a number of occasions with Hendo or Milner on the pitch. That’s a little worry to me.

10.) 20 Apr 2023 07:53:20
“He has had a good run - better than he has deserved”

What he deserves, for what he has done as captain and what he has stood for, is better fans than you.

11.) 20 Apr 2023 09:28:54
We can't just get rid of everyone just because of a bad season, we need people like Hendo to show the new incomers the LFC way and not be afraid to give them a shout and a grrr now and again. No one is bigger than the club but we have to show the new ones how to be part of the club. i would also keep Milner for another year in the same capacity. I remember when Souness was manager and he sold everyone and also got rid of the boot room we don't need that again. whoever comes in will be wearin g a red shirt so get behind them YNWA.

12.) 20 apr 2023 10:46:48
henderson and milner both need keeping around until they are coaaching, they are both perfect examples of how the players should conduct and look after themselves while at the club.

13.) 20 Apr 2023 12:11:48
Pretty sure he assisted a goal in the last game, so if he passed it back to the goalscorer he is not doing too well by your assessment.

14.) 20 Apr 2023 13:31:26
Hendo is still the captain of this club and you want him out? Who becomes captain then? Hendo takes the milner role and Jimmy moves on, unless he wants a coaching role. Jordan has a couple of years left in him yet.
The only other candidates for captaincy are robbo and alli but I like my captains in midfield personally. If trents is in midfield would he merit it. maybe push him on. homegrown but unlikely.

15.) 20 Apr 2023 13:47:25
Last year, around this time, we were attentively discussing whether he was a better Captain than Gerrard, and if he was one of the all time great captains for the club.

From hero to zero, in less than a year. Wassa is right.

16.) 20 Apr 2023 15:38:13
Hendo’s been a great captain. His experience, professionalism and leadership is vital for the squad. Unfortunately his time’s coming to an end like all great players and feel he offers very little other than ball retention in midfield. Rarely scores, rarely assists and doesn’t have the legs to disrupt the opposition teams possession of the ball.

17.) 20 Apr 2023 17:23:17
This is nuts. He would be in the mix for top 4 midfielders we have had since 1980 - along with Graeme S, Stevie G and Whelan. As Keegan showed, it’s not always about technical ability or Hollywood moments - it’s about making the most of your ability, and having mental strength. Jordan improves his teammates because he is so selfless as a player, and is so driven. Certainly the most tactically astute player I have seen play for England. We will struggle to sign anyone with his impact again. They don’t come around very often.

There has been quite a bit written about the Salah 'dive' but there is one scenario that no-one has commented on. We all know that when we get an injury we are a little tentative about it happening again. The incident started with Dummett living up to his name and grabbing hold of Salah's arm. In that split second Salah's mind may have gone back to the ECL Final when he was armlocked (the same arm) by a known thug. Instinctively he tries to pull his arm away by falling backwards. I'm not saying that this is the case but it is plausible. Benitez's lame claim that this affected the result is ludricous - Salah may actually have scored a goal anyway as he was moving inro an excellent position to score.

mia

{Ed002's Note - You really think the player was "grabbing" his arm? Why not just accept that it was a dive and he is getting a growing reputation as a cheat. He has been booked for it before. There are no pitiful excuses for his cheating.}

1.) 28 Dec 2018 12:24:56
I don't think it was a dive in my opinion (which we are all allowed to have) but it was very soft. The guy pulled him back which is a foul, but unless you go down you never get them given in the box. Soft, but a pen in my eyes all day, it was written all over dummets face.

2.) 28 Dec 2018 12:46:45
It was soft imo and could have gone either way. I think it was instinctive on Salah’s part and I would have been aggrieved if I was a Newcastle supporter but not at all surprised with the decision. The media seemed to have made a meal of it though as they do with everything when filling a 24 hour news cycle. Personally I think when there’s zero contact in a similar vein then the term cheat is an apt term to use. I know he playes the game alright but I wasn’t aware Salah was getting a name for it, that’s disappointing to hear.

3.) 28 Dec 2018 12:56:18
I mean if you watch the video you see dummet grab salahs arm don’t see how you can deny that.

{Ed002's Note - Sure, he "grabbed" it. Just accept Salah is a cheat and move on.}

4.) 28 Dec 2018 13:06:52
He went down unaturally but it was a foul. Anywhere else on the pitch, grabbing someone as they go past you is a foul. The difference is that refereeing is so poor/ weak that they don't enforce this rule in the penalty box. So players have to go down to get the correct decision.

We saw loads of penalties in the world cup for this stuff because VAR caught all the bang average defenders grabbing people's arms and shirts. It's a penalty. No debate to be had. Anybody who can read the rule book should be able to grasp that. But anybody denying Salah threw himself down is in denial.

What choice do players have now though? Cook raked his studs down Salah's achilles a few weeks ago and it was a stone wall red card. But he got away with it because Salah stayed on his feet. If referees weren't so pathetically weak, players could stay on their feet knowing they will still get the decision. Until that happens you'll never get rid of players going down easily. And it is this grey area where it is both a 'dive' and a 'penalty' that makes it so hard for referees to spot genuine dives that aren't fouls.

{Ed002's Note - He wasn't grabbed. He has done this before, he has been caught before, he has been booked, he has been told by Klopp not to do it and he is a cheat. It is embarrassing reading these pitiful excuses.}

5.) 28 Dec 2018 13:16:03
You have a scary agenda against salah. Fair enough. He’ll be off to Madrid soon anyway ;)

{Ed002's Note - Why is this an agenda. Everything I have said is correct. And yes, his agent has been back to Madrid this month.}

6.) 28 Dec 2018 13:17:10
"However, Salah has escaped a two-game ban after the FA decided the incident did not meet their threshold for deception of a match official. "
So why did the FA take no action?

{Ed002's Note - Because there was the slightest of contact - they explained this.}

7.) 28 Dec 2018 13:26:00
Salah felt the contact and went down. It occurs in every match week after week. Someties it results in a penalty, sometimes not, but there was no reason for Dummet to put his hand on Salahs shoulder in the box and he complained very little once the ref blew the whistle.
Was Salah cheating? Possibly, but no more than the other thousands of cheats in the football leagues.

{Ed002's Note - You are right, it is everybody elses fault.}

8.) 28 Dec 2018 13:53:32
Salah’s a big fat cheater. Cheat cheat cheat. No integrity from that guy! Cheeeeeeet. Or was he fouled? Hmm.

9.) 28 Dec 2018 13:40:59
I feel it was very soft also. Borderline dive. But interested to hear Ed02 thoughts on Hazard as brilliant player but all my group of friends including man u, arsenal and Chelsea fans all agree he is the master of taking the slightest contact to win fouls. Yet if he sees a path to goal he can knock big defenders off the ball and ride challenges?! Drogba off the top of my head was a master at this also. One minute throwing a viduc around the next a monreal with the slightest of touches this monster of a man is throwing himself in the air flicking his heels etc. Also I would like to point out. When salah on several occasions has been properly pulled pushed kicked and stayed on his feet. Where was the ref and all these fans etc to praise or give him the penalty for trying to be honest? Then probably watching motd and seeing dele Ali etc go down easily and getting penalties. Am not saying what he did was right, just untill honesty is rewarded more than trying to con the refs. It won't stop and players will continue to do it.

{Ed002's Note - Trying to make it about Chelsea now. Do you realise how embarrassing the Liverpool fans are getting over this? Soon will be back to the laughing stocks again.}

10.) 28 Dec 2018 13:50:45
Sorry Ed, as an unbias referee I’d have given the penalty. Even if it was united at Anfield in the last minute. It is Soft, but it’s a foul, and if the other defender wasn’t there it becomes a DOGSO. And under DOGSO, an attempt to play the ball is a yellow, and a pull/ push/ deliberate handball ( anything upper body basically ) is a red card. There was no card because of the other defender being between Salah and the goal, stops is being a DOGSO.
It was lazy and a brain fart from dummet. You grab a man on his tip toes, on the edge of making a movement, they’re easily toppled. I expect a witty comeback but that’s why I love you 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Of course, he ripped his arm from the socket.}

11.) 28 Dec 2018 13:58:36
His agent has been back to Madrid Ed? So he is still angling for a move over to Spain?

{Ed002's Note - There has been some pleading because Real Madrid are looking to buy a high end forward and his chance will be gone for good. Therefore there has been some begging and an offer to renegotiate the ridiculous amounts that got him laughed out of Madrid last time.}

12.) 28 Dec 2018 14:18:22
Ed002 why go on defensive I asked a question. And wanted an opinion from you. I also said Salah done it and mentioned dele Ali yet you made it all about Chelsea! I referred to them 2 Chelsea players as was well known Drogba was a brilliant beast of a player I loved watching him. But frustrated me so much 1 minute see him knock huge defenders around the next when he knew lost ball or gain a foul in good area go down with minimal contact. And as I thought you would have watched a lot of there games to judge. No offence was meant to Chelsea I feel I possibly worded it wrong or you picked me up wrong. Either way I would like opinion and sorry if it came across as an attack on a singular club.

{Ed002's Note - No, I am not on the defensive it is simply the usual trick used by Liverpool fans to deflect and blame others, say it is something to do with Chelsea etc.. If you wish to discuss Chelsea players go to the Chelsea page and talk to the Chelsea supporters.}

13.) 28 Dec 2018 14:33:38
Thanks for reply Ed002. You seem to have mind set it's some sort of trick or blaming everyone else etc which is fair enough. As am sure you get a lot of hassle and idiots on here we don't see. But using same brush for all of us isn't fair. And I certainly don't try to do that with other fanbases as we a have our good and bad. Have a good day mate and thanks for all the info you provide us, I certainly appreciate it.

{Ed002's Note - Bleating again. Nobody is suggesting you are all doing this, but every single time something happens (Suarez with Evra - just being friendly and having a joke; Coutinho looking to leave - simply me stirring up trouble about what happened in Rosario; Salah agent hawking him around - never; Klopp tapping up van Dyke (amongst others) - of course not), it is always the same, denial, deflection, someone else's fault, the FA's fault. It has become tedious and embarrasing I am afraid.}

14.) 28 Dec 2018 14:33:43
Ed02, thank you for an independent, unbiased view of the Salah/ Dummett incident. It is consistent with the views of many media pundits who, when a player from Chelsea, Spurs, Man City, etc are involved in a similar incident they claim “He felt contact, he is entitled to go down, penalty”; but when a Liverpool player is involved they claim “Hardly touched him, dive, cheat”. That was the first Premier League penalty that Liverpool have been awarded at Anfield since November 2017 and since then I have seen Liverpool players kicked, tripped, pulled, pushed, wrestled to the ground, etc in the penalty area without any decision going their way while players from Spurs and Everton have fallen over with no contact and been awardees penalties. If Salah made the most of being grabbed by Dummet to make sure that the referee saw it and gave the deserved penalty - well, good for Mo! And not a single Newcastle player made any complaint to the referee because they all know the score - grab at a player in the penalty area and you can expect to concede a penalty.

{Ed002's Note - And you wonder why other fans consider the Liverpool fans to be a laughing stock? He is a cheat. Suck it up. Maybe Real Madrid will give him the move he wants?}

15.) 28 Dec 2018 14:35:41
I am a realist. We are all cheats or have, at some time cheated. The question is to what degree do you cheat before it becomes part of your nature that you can't change. I don't see Salah as a habitual cheat. He does, however, make a bad decision to dive once in a while. As a fan, I can live with it.

16.) 28 Dec 2018 14:35:43
Agree pars the player made contact the ref gave a soft penalty. No excuses needed in my book. Infact trying to make silly excuses is rather pathetic.

17.) 28 Dec 2018 14:43:23
There have been endless times when Salah has been fouled and kicked and he’s just carried on. Every match he gets hoofed black and blue and he just shrugs and gets on with it. One time he takes advantage of being fouled in the box and some try and label him a cheat. Salah is no cheat and he’s well in balance for fouls on him that weren’t given. Time for one or two ‘critics’ to wind their necks in.

{Ed002's Note - One time eh? Salah cheated last week and got away with it - and all we are seeing is these repeated pathetic excuses.}

18.) 28 Dec 2018 15:01:26
Hi eds
Can I change the subject and ask how the sharkopod is getting on.

{Ed002's Note - I have recorded it and it should be available this evening or in the morning.}

19.) 28 Dec 2018 15:11:05
Clearly a dive imo but anyway, regarding the Madrid talk.

. Salahs agent was informed that Madrid’s main interest and focus is Hazard and that they would not be in a position (for various reasons) to buy both.

{Ed002's Note - The agent was pleading for Madrid to not buy either of the options they are currently looking at.}

20.) 28 Dec 2018 15:13:13
My thoughts were his feet were clipped, when i seen it wasnt, it was kind off embarrassing but maybe his past injury did play a role in it. Salah wants to stay fit in what perhaps is going to be the best season of his life so his immediate thought is to always to protect his left shoulder. I wouldn't be surprised if the ref saw it that way too. I don't see where his reputation of diving is coming from ed. Salah is the least offender in my opinion.

{Ed002's Note - So he didn't want another blubbering exit from a game? Perhaps standing up would be better then?}

21.) 28 Dec 2018 15:14:30
stop biting people! Sit back enjoy the ride👌🏻
Thanks for the shark pod eds am looking forward to it.

22.) 28 Dec 2018 15:15:43
Ah lads come on, he chucked himself.

You can admit this without by extension wanting to have him killed or anything.

23.) 28 Dec 2018 15:25:51
I don't think Salah cheated. He most probably thought to himself, I am fed up with being grabbed and pushed in the box, and getting nothing, so the next time someone makes contact with me, i am going down.

{Ed002's Note - I think you will find that is cheating.}

24.) 28 Dec 2018 16:01:30
May not have been a grab but it put salah off balance. Hence, a foul designed to hamper a world class striker running at your goal. definitely penalty. If he had mot gone down the foul will have been missed. Salah did the right thing.

{Ed002's Note - It is like some sort of tragic joke.}

25.) 28 Dec 2018 16:15:28
so the fa panal are wrong then and your right ed?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think you understand aboit the "FA Panel" at all. So perhaps not saying anything rather than embarrassing yourself, or have someone explain what happened would help you.}

26.) 28 Dec 2018 16:26:09
He went down far too easy and it wasn't a penalty. I hope he gets told in no uncertain terms that it is unacceptable and never do it again. I hate cheating in all forms. I
However I disagree with ed 02 it is the FA that should pull him on this and the numerous others because what they are saying is it is okay and therefore within the rules. They set a president and basically have said it is not cheating therefore within the rules. All players and managers can say it is okay and It simply isn't. If the powers that be aren't strong enough they have allowed it. So it doesn't matter what ed 02 says it is okay with the FA and therefore he is not a cheat (I think it should be stamped out by the FA without a doubt! They have been weak!

{Ed002's Note - The FA are not saying it is OK, just that if there is any contact at all it counts as simulation. I agree they are not doing enough. They are not saying it wasn't a dive nor that it was a penalty.}

27.) 28 Dec 2018 16:40:18
What annoys me is that is too soft because most people pundits, players and managers are saying that if there is any contact go down. That is giving them the green light like it or not. That needs to stop. It is in all walks of life we are too soft. It is wrong any panel can see he went down too easily. If you ban for a game then if done again 3 the 5 games etc. Children do it now aswell as confront the referee because they see it on telly. STOP it now. Not this hairy fairy decision that he touch his arm. He is a powerful athlete. They have, like it or not, basically impied it's okay! There massive mistake.

{Ed0333's Note - Denzil can you elaborate on when you say ‘in all walks of life we are too soft’ please

28.) 28 Dec 2018 19:03:28
He's kept his feet multiple times too.

29.) 28 Dec 2018 22:41:35
There was contact, he went down, pen. Simple.

20 Dec 2018 23:35:53
Liverpool have promoted Hoever to 1st team training. He has been given the sweeper role! Actually being Dutch his name is pronounced "Hoofer". Let's hope that he will be dancing through the opposition in the not too distant future! Happy Christmas everyone.

5.) 21 Dec 2018 07:31:56
Are you sure the fan was aiming for Delicatessan? For all we know he could have been aiming for Dele on the other side of the pitch. Then again givem Fellaini's effort on the steward, mayne that is what manU are after.!?

Mahrez did put the penalty away - so far away that no-one has found it yet. It's floating around in space with Charlie Adam's effort in the Carling Cup Final in 2012. If Sané hadn't scored in January the title-race would be all over in our favour. 'IF' is the smallest word in the English language but it is also one of the largest. It's been a great season and I am convinced that next season is going to be even better with a couple of players leaving and a couple more stepping up.
