Gvardiol really isn’t going to join us. Much like Bellingham. They’re too far out of our financial reach.

Only if he’s on a free West Derby. We need someone to replace Salah when he is inevitably sold to PSG and who better than a one goal every two years winger. I certainly can’t think of one better player.

Kenny Dalglish has literally not tweeted this. Does anyone seriously believe that FSG are going to sanction spending of £250m+ without there being substantial sales to counter it? Because that just isn’t happening.

Aside from the fact that Milinkovic-Savic has been leaving Lazio more times than Jan Molby’s had hot dinners, I can’t really see either of them leaving or wanting to leave a champions league clubs to play for a club outside of the champions league at their age. The much vaunted midfield rebuild really isn’t happening, Milner contract renewal, Morton and Clarkson replacing Ox and Keita with Jones being pushed as our own Bellingham alternative. The only likely incomings will likely be Nunes, Mount and whoever FSG can get on a free/ cheap deal, which will somehow be worse than what we already have, and it’ll be probably be paid for by selling Fabinho, Kelleher and Salah. 8th place is our next season lads.

Let’s hope United make a bid for Mount. He looks like their kind of player.

Rice only wants to stay in London and Mount is just terrible. His performance for Chelsea in the FA Cup Final against us summed him up, lightweight, poor decision making, lost possession cheaply, zero intelligence in possession.

As for Arthur, on the plus side he has kept our medical team in practice, so there’s that.

A few caveats Rigsby.

We signed a chronically injury prone midfielder on loan in desperation last summer, to join a midfield known for containing a lot of injury prone midfielders. We may as well have not bothered quite honestly. I can’t see him getting a game without picking up another injury or making any impact if by some miracle he is fit.

We are doing a very good job at finishing as low as possible this season, given that we can’t beat the likes of Bournemouth, Forest or Leeds who were all in the relegation places at the time we played them.

We’re not the favourites to sign Bellingham, as to be favourites, you need to have the funds to pay the fee or be willing to pay it. And it sound like we neither have the funds, nor are willing to pay it.

Tristan, it’s just being realistic and accepting where we are and what our limitations are, we are incapable of stringing more than two wins together without dropping points stupidly, that is a fact. We’ve lost games against teams in the bottom three more times than we should do, those are the games we need to be winning. We’re too inconsistent and we’re too weak mentally and physically. Our chances are slim at best. As for struggling to buy players, we worked on a very limited budget when we were in the champions league, those purse strings aren’t getting looser when we’re out. It’ll be sell to buy as always, with a much lower additional budget. That’s the message being put out in the more reputable corners of the press. So yes there’ll be money to spend, but not very much.

Unless we can put a run or wins together Champions League is not happening, I think our next three games are City, Spurs and Chelsea. So it’s not getting any easier.

£70m and Mount can’t go together without the word flop attached to it. That would be like setting fire to £70m. He’s absolutely hopeless that lad.

If the rumour is also true that we’re also happy to pay £50m+ for Nunes then we’ve truly lost touch of our senses, as he’s been absolutely shocking for wolves this season, he doesn’t look physically up to it in this league, either at number 8 or number 6, ironically his only good game was against our omnishambles of a midfield.

Ultimately we’ve sat around and done nothing to improve our midfield under the pretence of waiting for a player that we now can’t afford and then also written off an entire season for it.

We didn’t try to sign a midfielder though Rigsby. Did we make an offer for Tchouameni? No. Did we make an offer for Bellingham? No.

What did we do? we acted with incredible hubris based on the events from season before, thinking that the same group of players would do the same again and when the we got into an injury crisis, we made one of the worst signings in club history out of sheer panic.

I have no confidence in the owners fixing it, the targets we’re looking at aren’t anywhere near good enough (Mount, Nunes, Rabiot, Tielemans and Berge) . I’m not mentioning Bellingham as I genuinely don’t believe we were ever seriously interested as the owners knew the money would be too much.
