New reports that Jörg Schmadtke will work as an "external consultant for transfers" on a temporary basis at Liverpool, not as a DOF.

Looks like maybe they haven't found/ agreed on who they would like and need someone help over the summer transfer window, until they find the long term replacement?

Looks like they haven't got a clue what they're doing.

Shouldn't rush to judgement, but this type of thing never looks good. And why is this news allowed out, when the whole world knows a DOF is being searched for?

I couldn’t care less about who works for us and who doesn’t all I want is to win every game and to watch good attacking football that gets you off your seat .

I know these people are of importance to the club but I don’t care who they are and where they are from as long as Liverpool are the best version of themselves.

Unfortunately Dhfc, there is a clear correlation between a good setup behind the scenes and a good performance on the football field.

So essentially, he is not going to be a Sporting Director.

OliRed, essentially it means it's been 9 months they've been unable to convince a top-class DOF to join the club this summer. And it's not possible that there haven't been any out there. Again not to jump the gun or presume anything, but it smells of "internal power politics" and that's never a good thing.

{Ed002's Note - It has only been since Christmas.}

So yesterday it was on social media that he was the new DoF and there seemed to be a general dissatisfaction that he wasn’t good enough even though 99.9% of us had never heard of him and wouldn’t know who he was if he walked up and ‘kicked us in the nuts’.

Today he is on social media as a potential external consultant for transfers and the faithful are now dissatisfied that the club doesn’t know what it’s doing.

Anyone seen any statement from the club or are we all getting worked up, yet again, based on what’s on social media?

I saw in the press yesterday that the canteen up at the training complex have identified a yong lad to come in as an apprentice and make sandwiches. I hope he does a good job otherwise the knives will definitely be out for him on here ?.

WDW, it's you who is always getting worked up far more than other posters. We're just discussing news as we see it, on a daily basis. That's why we come here. Sorry if it doesn't meet your high standards and criteria. And by the way, this too is social media. Sigh.

Yeah, the irony isn’t lost on me ArAy.

As an aside, the discussion doesn’t even meet my low ‘standards and criteria’ never mind about high.

Anyway, in today’s news, the Mail has him back as the new DoF. Should be an ideal topic for today’s discussion eh? And it will be a nice companion piece for the regular Bellingham and TAA ‘discussions’.

Looks like he's signing a 3 year deal. If true, then I wish him good luck. Go and sign some quality.

WDW, well mate, in the famous words of Ed001, "just scroll past". And in the words of another less famous person (me), "life sucks and then you die. "??.

All good fun and harmless, but sometimes you wonder about the mentality of those who see any rumour as an excuse to start slagging some aspect of the club off.

16.) 10 May 2023
10 May 2023 09:10:35
From what I see, it's either slag the club or each other, on here. And I'm pretty sure the club can more than take the slagging; it's been around for 131 years already, far longer than any of us can hope to be around. ?.

Got red tinsel on yer Zimmer frame WDW?
I'm not far behind you.
Maybe we're just too old to be reduced to hysterical drama over some football rumours, eh?

I'm 62. I thrive on my one source of daily drama. My one remaining source of excitement. This place, of course, and all you wonderful people out there. ?.

The difference is ArAy that you don't get sucked in by it and jump on the hysterical bandwagon and contribute to it.
Is it an age thing to be more level headed or a generational thing?
A little bit of both?

Flash, I've been on here for at least 12 years, maybe even 15 or more, I have lost count. All jokes aside, I can tell you that this one site has reinforced 2 things in my thinking; patience and tolerance. I used to be shocked at some of the things I used to read and wanted to loudly scream "hey, why can't you see what I see, are you blind? ". And then over time I simply said more and more (to myself) "shutup ArAy, they don't see what you see, you don't see what they see, just go with the flow". So that's where I am. I don't know if it's an age thing, a color thing, a generational thing or an income-bracket thing. I don't think it can be categorized so easily. It's what it is.

I'm of a slightly different persuasion, I've always been more inclined to take the mickey or wind folks up a bit. I think it's comical to see how serious some of them take it!

I think I’m the same Flash. I find it odd that people can’t see the difference between opinion and fact and that they see a difference in opinions as automatically being an attack on them. The only way forward is to take the mickey (and to have the mickey taken in return) . It’s ironic on a banter page that most people take their opinions that seriously that they miss the humour and the chance to respond in kind too. Anyway, I’m off to Loyola Hall on retreat in July, I hear it’s run by Trappists these days.
