Watching the match last night and thought it was a nailed on penalty. Keeper runs out and doesn't get the ball . But the at half time the three pundits in the studio all disagreed and said no pen an the keeper had nowhere to go. I even found myself starting to agree. But then I remember that I never ever agree with a pundit even if they are speaking sense.

Pen for me too. It’s unfortunate cos I get what the non-pen people are saying. But for me, if either player attacks the ball, misses and then contact the opponent, then for me it is a foul.

It was a strange one. The 3 pundits in the studio all said no pen, the 2 pundits in the commentary box all said pen. No pen for me. Who'd want to be a ref!

The way I see it, if a defender rushes towards a striker and the striker knocks it around him and collided with him it’s a penalty so I think it should be the same with the keeper.

So much of a stonewall penalty stevie wonder refereeing the game would have given it.

Jk red then should we get rid of all keepers because there job is to stop goals which means coming out and spreading them selves if the forward runs in to keeper as what happened then how can the keeper be blamed and a pen given .
If we go your way of thinking there will be players running into the keepers every game to get a pen.

Absolutely not a penalty. The keeper never went into a challenge for the ball, he went to close the attacker down. The ball was scuffed past him and never even had the momentum to go into the net. If the ball goes past the keeper, what is he supposed to do? The inference is that keepers should not even attempt to confront a striker in case the striker’s momentum takes him into the keeper. Ashley Barnes did it to Alisson a couple of seasons ago. That shouldn’t have been a penalty and neither should this. If the player had taken the ball around the keeper and he had flung an arm out to grab him, then it would have been a penalty.
